@@Plab1402 Isn't the Dubai royal family part of the GOV? Aren't they a Islamic absolute monarchy and part of Emirates which have a elective monarchy ? Do really think that is all separate? That's like saying the salt in the ocean is not part of the water.
Philippine Airlines was formerly owned by government from 1946 until 1995 including Martial Law when the airline under government monopolization program which is now privatized by rich businessman while Garuda Indonesia was semi owned by the Government which is 60% stake while the rest is owned by PT Trans Group
I can see why it's done given the importance of air travel to a country's economy and that fact that when push comes to shove governments end up "bailing out" airlines.
Aren't most state carriers owned by their governments in part or fully outside of the "Western" world? Perhaps a video of a Top 10 list or airlines not owned by the government at all in Africa, Asia, South America would be more interesting

You have to be joking. Either that or you have been living under a rock for the past year. Courts of all levels have ruled against them, their CEO resigned in disgrace and they have just been caught selling tickets for flights which had already been cancelled.

While not very large, El Al, Israel's flag carrier airline, is partially owned by the Israeli government (currently 4.89% ownership). The airline serves 57 destinations with a fleet of 45 aircrafts.

Singapore Airlines not even in the top 10? Rather surprising
I guess it isn’t bigger than the others in the top 10.
ET is also a government owned company, it is probably bigger than Vueling Airlines
For those wondering sia serves less than a 100 destination, which is why they did not make the list
I would have thought Emirates and Qatar would have been 1 and 2.
Emirates is from the Dubai royal family, NOT from the United Arab government

Air Canada used to be state-owned, until the Brian Mulroney government privatised it.
They still have 6.4% from the government.
This seems more like a random list of 10 airlines owned by some government, in part or by whole
Great video!
Thank you for adding to my knowledge about airplanes, the video is really informative
You included Vueling but ignored the other carriers in the same group eg. Iberia, British Airways etc
A state-owned enterprise is owned by the state. 25% share in Vueling by Qatar doesnt make it state-owned. What is this video??
Looking at Sas i wish they do a swissair soon because they cannot really be saved...

If Vueling is on the list because its owned by AIG group, what about British Airways that is also partof AIG?
9:40 I am OK with it as long as the airline makes a profit.

dude how the hell is veiwling bigger than aeroflot

3:50 because they buy Boeing aircrafts, if they only were buying Airbus it would have been a different story for Emirates !
Pathetic fanboyism, you can leave that at the door.
What does that even mean? 😂
Emirates famously has an A380 fetish. Last time I checked A380s were NOT made by Boeing.
Not sure I understand this ranking
Government ownership was the norm in the 20th century.
I wonder why British Airways, Lufthansa, ANA as well as Singapore Airlines didn't make the cut. I thought they were big enough 🤔.
BA and LH aren't state owned...
The German government bought Lufthansa shares as a form of bailout but has since sold them.
