  • When thinking about the European double-decker aircraft, usually the key carriers come to mind: Emirates (of course), Singapore Airlines, British Airways, Qantas, and a few others. But several more had once thought about operating the type. These airlines even had firm orders placed, and some had examples produced before the whole gig was canceled. In today’s video, we briefly examine a few not-to-be Airbus A380 operators.

Weird to hear all these obscure airlines wanted such a massive plane.

Air Austral actually made sense. Reunion is basically France's Hawaii. There's enough demand to fill all the seats, just like ANA does between Tokyo and Honolulu.

For the past 60+ years, I have always chuckled at reports that the next prototype "jumbo" would include such spectacular features as a spa, fitness center, lounges, showers, salon, etc. Of course, any of these features could be included on any wide-body, but no airline would add these non-rev options at the expense of another 12.5 seats in cattle class.

Hi, well answer to your first question, i have two answers, Virgin Atlantic because as you put it, interior design concept and Air Austral but not because of its dense configuration, but rather to see an Airline in the Indian Ocean that is about two-three hours flight away from home being the very first to have the type in their fleet anf livery. Second question, my fav airline that operates the type now, easy 1st Place Emirates Airlines.
