A Deep Dive Into The Fleet Of Malaysia Airlines In 2022

  • In years gone by, Malaysia Airlines had a much larger and much more diverse fleet of aircraft. Indeed, the airline had once operated the Boeing 747 and, more recently, the Airbus A380. Unfortunately for fans of those large jets, the airline has reduced its fleet size in recent years. On the plus side, Malaysia Airlines and its fleet of twinjets operate with greater efficiency with lower operating costs - an important characteristic for the post-COVID world. Today, we examine the 2022 fleet of Southeast Asian carrier Malaysia Airlines.

Never got the chance yet, but they seem to offer a decent product for very affordable fares. Their crews also come across as extremely friendly, very typical malaysia. As a plus, they have a small fleet of A350s that fly exclusive routes, so it’s worth trying to seek it out as an avgeek to say “I’ve been on the MH A350”.

Personally flown on MAS airline's Boeing 737 for FREE!
it was 2020 and covid lockdown hit when I was at Vietnam. Malaysia took the virtue to bring back every Malaysian back to our home with their own fleet. Kinda suprised because despite being an evacuation transport, they still treated every passenger with good services and in declining financial stability Malaysian Airlines still made sure every citizen gets back home safely without any charge

Interesting choice to remove IFE from their refurbished 737s and install tablet holders instead. Could this be a new trend for short haul aircraft on full service carriers, what with streaming services becoming popular? The airlines save on maintenance and fuel through reduced weight too. Is lack of IFE a deal breaker for travellers, even if these streaming content through airlines’ app, is available?

I had the good pleasure of flying onboard one of Malaysia Airline's Airbus A380 between London and Kuala Lumpur. Unsurprisingly, that remains my favourite aviation experience to-date.
Whilst this video covers the current fleet rather well, I'd also like to share, that many years ago, Malaysia Airlines used to pride itself on the quality, warmth and hospitality of their cabin crew. Unfortunately, that's a quality Malaysia Airlines seem to have lost in the last decade or so. Cabin crews on my flights in recent years haven't been as friendly, warm and helpful. In fact, I get better services from cabin crews of its national and regional competitor, Airasia.
Hope it's something the airline can work on so that we can one day see a return of the spirit of its old tagine, MH is Malaysian Hospitality.

Surprising that not a word was spoken of Malaysia Airlines most famous and rather cursed flagship, B777-200ers most famous for, we all know why! Their intro into the fleet in 1997 was widely publicized and actually the longest flight recorded till around 2006 I think (MRA registered triple 7). Post pandemic and twin accidents the 777,747,380 long haul fleet disappeared and only the much smaller 350s, that too only 6 remain! Hope in the future they buy larger jets like the 350-1000 or the 777-9 or best of all bring back their 380s. But it's nearly impossible and practically non happening🙃
