TRIP REPORT | First Time on Malaysia A350! | Kuala Lumpur to London | Malaysia Airlines A350

- Malaysia Airlines Trip Report flying from Kuala Lumpur to London Heathrow onboard one of the Malaysia Airlines Airbus A350 on a beautiful winter day.
An extremely comfortable 13h+ flight from Kuala Lumpur to London onboard the Malaysia Airlines A350. The flight was, surprisingly, nearly empty; for sure not more than 50 passengers. This allowed us to have 3 seats, which increased the comfort exponentially.
After a nice exploration of Kuala Lumpur International Airport, as well as some planespotting, we boarded the Airbus A350 that would take us to London. After enjoying the most original safety msg I've ever seen, we took off from Kuala Lumpur towards the northwest. We initially climbed through lots of clouds and turbulence. These ones disappeared just in time to see a last glimpse of Indonesia, before entering the Gulf of Bengal.
We crossed the Gulf and finally reached India, where we entered over Madras. We made a right turn there and crossed the country, flying towards the Indian Ocean. We left India over Mumbai, after some amazing views of the city. We then crossed the Indian Ocean towards Pakistan.
We entered Pakistan west of Karachi and enjoyed some of the best views I've ever had of Hingol National Park and the desert area. We continued towards Iran and crossed it from south to north. The views were stunning, from the very south until reaching Tehran. From there we flew over Turkiye, Romania, Hungary, Austria, Germany, Belgium, and, finally, the United Kingdom and London, where we landed on time.
About the catering service... well, it was good, definitely not bad at all. But it was the most strange "breakfast" I ever had: fruit, lasagna, and red wine. What a combination to start the day! I guess there was some mistake on the website and they got a pre-ordered meal for me (which was the lasagna). Just after getting it, another cabin crew came offering the wine. I said... well, why not?
The second meal came around 4 hours before landing in London. In this case, they offered a more conventional one. 2 options: chicken or beef. I chose the second one. It was pretty ok. I would say Malaysia Airlines is positioned slightly behind Singapore Airlines in terms of Catering in economy class, and for sure behind the Gulf ones.

Youre so lucky to have only 70 passengers in total and the row to yourself. The same flight (KUL-LHR) I took in december few days before Christmas was 95% full and no empty seats nearby. Anyway, really peaceful and nice trip report. I love how you show us the view outside, very unique.
Yeah, I know I was very lucky... having 3 seat for me allowed me to record much better :)
i have once fly with MAS from Sydney to KL with only few passengers onboard, around 20-30 people in total.. i used to sleep on 4 seats centre flying with B747 long time ago..

They are working towards a brand new Business Class configuration once their new A330neos comes to service between 2024 and 2026. This would effectively replace all their existing A330ceos. They ordered 26 of them. The intention is to bring Malaysia Airlines back to the days when they had the best inflight service in the world in the 90s. The airline has been profitable the last two years, even during the pandemic, making it one of the few profitable airlines in the world today.

The cake called “Pandan Layer Cake”. Locally Malaysian cake.. green colour comes frm screwpine leaves (pandan leaves) and layered with soft sponge cake.

Flown this route a number of times on Malaysian, always enjoyed the flight. Food is so much better than what was offered on BA when they operated LHR to KUL and the A 350 I though was better thab the 787 operated by BA. The cabin crews have also been great on Malaysian, none existant on BA. I suspect the cake was Pandan flavour.
I don't know how BA food is on the route, but MH one was really good. As I say on the video, I think I would put it just behing the SQ one.

I also seem to remember more food than this MH on all the BA flights I’ve done. Even AC serves more food than MH!
@@sva60_cyyz59 Always safe on BA, I think not. They’ve had their fatalities too in the past. Well the food was very poor, Heathrow to Kuala Lumpur and very poor Kuala Lumpur to Heathrow. The cabin crew were miserable, disappeared after first meal, didn’t come round with drinks through the flight. Didn’t clean the toilets throughout the flight. In fact food on every BA flight I have taken recently has been poor. If you want to fly BA, you’re welcome to, not for m3 though thanks.

I recall seeing years a Malaysia Airlines advertisement near Malaysia House in Trafalgar Square touting their 744 service from KL to London. I thought, "what an exotic routing." So, thank you for this👍.
I would love to fly on their A380 or B747... but it's definitely no longer possible.

Wow! I think with 14 hours it's one of the longest flights in the world. I like the Kuala Lumpur airport as well as the outside facade of Heathrow. I don't know how many times MH flies to London, but the flight must be subsidized with so many empty seats. But great for the travelers, and the service seems great.
Mmm Not that much. I think there are quite a lot of flights of this lenght to be honest. When we talk about 16h+ then we are reaching the longest ones :)
I think it was so empty just because I traveled on a day wiht super low demand, a few weeks before xmas.

There are 7 direct ( all A380 ? ) flights 3 different airlines from Singapore Changi Airport to London .
Only MAS 2 KLIA -Heathrow and yet so empty .
It just shows this route is of such low demand.
MAS is a dayflight to Europe from KLIA. The competition is stiff, often for better prices and mostly nightflights, which shortens the flight considerably, if you can sleep. And therefore less jetlag issues. MAS is lagging behind on intercontinental to Europe. Only 1 destination (outside the EU Schengen zone also, highly inconvenient...)

What an interesting westward day long-haul flight. Well-crafted and versatile report. Good airline with modern aircraft and good service. I was in Malaysia before the pandemic and visited Borneo and the peninsula on a tour. Beautiful country with friendly people. However, we flew on A380 Singapore Airlines. Thank you for sharing the flight experiences.😁
It didn't start the best way with all the clouds over Malaysia and Indonesia... and also over India... but everything became amazing over Pakistan and Iran. Overflying those places is always amazing. I really enjoyed recording and editing this video. Glad that you've enjoyed it, Felix! :)

Sinceramente me ha encantado el vídeo y lo he disfrutado un montón, parece increíble la cantidad de contrastes que se ven desde el avión por los sitios que has pasado, Malasia, India, Pakistan. Iran etc es un mundo todavía por descubrir por lo menos para mi y espero algún día poder hacerlo. Tengo un viaje planeado al sureste Asiático para la primavera y que espero poder disfrutar. One of your best videos! Mainly because of the amazing views throughout this 16-hour flight From the huge tropical storm clouds over Malaysia, the Gulf of Bengal & all the islands in it, the mountains & deserts of Iran and Pakistan, to the snowed scenery of central Europe, it was a very photogenic video and flight.
I think the best views by far were the arid landscapes in Iran and Pakistan. You've overflown this part of the world quite a bit recently, and it's always amazing to see. It reminds me of the Western US, but even more arid and "dusty". I'd love to see it in person someday, be it from above or below.

Been to London in 2018 with this MH's A350.........the best part is.....they have live camera like CCTV in the sky/foods are more deli compared to SQ's A380 (to Zurich).......
