Recently flew on Swiss A220 from ATH-GVA and it was gorgeous! In my opinion Swiss is one of the best european carriers. As I know Swiss is going to replace its 5x A340-300 with 5x A350-900 from the Lufthansa Group order. They decided to do so because the A350 cabin is a little bit wider (than the 787's) and therefore easier to put a first class in (they had to make minor changes on the A340 fc because the fc used in the bigger B773 dind't fit... Tbh flying first in Swiss B777 is better because it's a little more spacious) :)
Having flown on many SWISS economy flights I have to say, the service from Zürich to San Francisco on the 777 was a highlight! It felt like Buissnes class but I was in economy!
A Swiss A-340 was the first quad jet I ever flew on, I was very excited about it at the time. I later flew on them twice more, including an almost empty flight from Zurich to SFO in 2013 where almost every passenger in Economy found an empty row of seats to lie down and sleep in. The flight attendants even encouraged us to do so lol.
Recently, I flew an A220 from Geneva to Athens. On the way back to Geneva, I took an A320neo from Athens to Zurich and an A321ceo from Zurich to Geneva.
Last year the A350 was rumoured to be in the pole position as the A340 replacement. Edelweiss has A340s which need to be replaced in the near future as well. Plus they’re eying to expand their long haul offering.
In 2016 (I still keep the old email with the itinerary for dates and stuff like that. Ex. Outbound was SWISS #17 on Tuesday, June 28 of that year and the return trip on July 14 likewise was SWISS flight #16), I was apart of a program called American Music Abroad. Although PHL is my home airport-our program took SWISS from JFK to Zurich round trip, heading south to Florence before hitting Venice on the way to Austria, Day trip to Salzburg before hitting Dachau whilst heading west and eventually Koblenz before getting stuck in bumper to bumper traffic practically to the SWISS Border on the last day. I believe that was the first time I actually was told what the plane type was (since the tickets were handled by the party running the program)
I just recently flew on Swiss A223 and A333,but i almost flew with A343 due the change and Swiss put there a A333 instead A343...Swiss have a really nice interiors and confy seats... Looking forward to fly with Swiss again!
While the A220-100 is considered by some to be an unusual choice, it suddenly makes sense when you realise that unlike its larger brother it can (and does) fly into London City. I believe that, not only is it the largest aircraft certified for London City, but the only one with the latest generation of quieter engines. That route was previously served by their Avros, which were sometimes rostered on their Manchester Zurich route. I loved those aircraft with their high wings and fantastic uninterrupted views of the ground, but they were getting old, and the costs of keeping them up to the required standard was just getting too great.
Actually A318 is the largest aircraft to fly of LCY BA used to operate all-Buissness A318s from LCY to JFK with a stop at Shannon in outbound but non-stop inbound. The stopover was due to the aircraft actually being unable to take-off with required fuel for full trip from LCY.
@mancubwwa As to whether the A318 or A220-100 is the larger, depends upon which metrics are used. The A220 is longer and has a larger wingspan. The number of passengers is about the same. However, this is now irrelevant as the two specially modified A318's to allow them to cope with the steeper glide slopes for London City, only operated by British Airways are long gone, with the final one being cut up a couole of years ago.
Was going to fly on one of their last A343s to BKK two weeks ago, but sadly it was swapped to B77W due to extremely huge demand. Still it was a very pleasant business class experience.
I only flew on a SWISS A320ceo once from Hamburg to Zurich in 2018. I thought it was a clever marketing and customer service ploy to offer Swiss chocolate to all the passengers as we disembarked the aircraft.
I think Swiss should go with the 787 sense the 777 is it flag ship aircraft. But Swiss crews is familiar with the 777 so they will have to train them Alittle which cost less money than training them on the a350
I have flown with every Swiss Type since the Airline exist. Expect the MD83, Saab2000, ERJ and A 340. MD 83 and Saab also ERJ are Phase out in 2004. I wish Swiss will get the Boeing 787, the Aircraft is Familiar with the 777 for the Cockpit Crews and will be the good SIze for the Replacement for the A 340 and the A 330 in the next 10 Years. The Favorit Aircraft in my Homecarrier Fleet of Swiss are the C-Series and the Boeing 777.
Definitely the A350 with the commonality and operation efficiency that it would ensue, A350 has little to no teethy issues. Which the Dreamliner still faces to this day 10 years later.
I'd push Airbus for the A220-500 and replace the A319 with them. They might even decide it's better to replace the A320 with the A220-500, if their A320 aren't usually full. However, Swiss will probably buy the A350 to replace the A340/B777.
Should they go with the A350 or 787? I think neither! The A330Neo would be a good choice for swiss, as it is pretty similar in abilities to the A340-300, and as Edelweiss also have A340-300s that need replacing, they could do a group order for the type. I think that the A350 is too big for swiss, and they probably want to avoid having more Boeing types as they do not feature much in their fleet, so the 787 doesn't make sense. The A330Neo could also start to replace A330ceos is swiss desire as well.
No, it appears that Swiss won't get any 787s and Austrian only tends to get a320neos but no other new aircraft and their 767s will need replacing so they will have to either order the 787 or a330neo
Good job illustrating the aircraft SWISS utilises.
I love Swiss! Just flew their business class from Zurich to sfo on 777-300er… amazing service and truly luxury.

Where did you find that info about the A350? I'd be extremely excited for a SWISS A350, but I've only seen that they'll either get A350s or 787s🤔
@@nicoth.412 I was thinking the same
In January 2019 I have flown a SWISS A340 from Shanghai to Zurich. And then an A220 from Zurich to Geneva.
Having flown on many SWISS economy flights I have to say, the service from Zürich to San Francisco on the 777 was a highlight! It felt like Buissnes class but I was in economy!
Cant wait for the introduction of the A350 to the fleet

The SWISS A340 fleet is beautiful
I love Swiss. I have flown a few times on their A330s and also A320s

Swiss A340-300 First Class is such a rare product
It is! we do love an A340! 😊✈️
Love Swiss. Every time I flown with them it was sublime

I flew on a Swiss A340 Zürich to JFK in 2005 - my only A340 flight. Friday, Jul 1st 2022 I saw one at ORD departing.
As a Swiss I wasn't expecting this review, Good to see =)
Thanks for watching, we will have many more reviews in the near future! 😊✈️ - LR
The best looking premium economy cabin hands down!
It is pretty neat, we have to say! 😊✈️

I guess that is what SWISS and Philippine Airlines have in common they only operate one Boeing type, the 777-300ER.
Good job Simple Flying 🙂
Keep it up with presenting more airline companies around the world
Thank you for watching, we appreciate the feedback! ✈️

Great videos as always. Could you do a video on TUI now and tui then, the way they were formed etc. Fleet too if possible? Would be interesting…
For me I think the A330neo is the best replacement for A340s, sharing the same type rating for pilots and crew with A330 and A340
They already have 787s on order.
@@juani.rodriguez7326they’ve ordered 5 A350’s
Between now and February I‘ll be flying on Swiss‘s A330-300, A340-300, and the 777 in addition to a number of the shorthaul birds. I can‘t wait.
I only flew on a SWISS A320ceo once from Hamburg to Zurich in 2018. I thought it was a clever marketing and customer service ploy to offer Swiss chocolate to all the passengers as we disembarked the aircraft.

A340 replacement to be A350, and A330 replacement to be B787 would be nice imo
I haven’t flown on any of these Swiss aircraft, but I think it should go for both the A350 and the 787
Swiss is part of Lufthansa group so when Lufthansa group orders aircraft they won't just go to Lufthansa they will go to some airlines in the group

flew on Swiss from Paris to Zurich on a bombardier jet in 2019(didn't know what that was back then) but apparently it's the Airbus A220
I think it should go with the A330neo
I would love to fly Swiss and they should get the a350
3:36 how is an airline with 88 aircraft smaller than one with just 61?
As I am from Zurich and therefore fly Swiss most of the time I would love to see a Swiss 787 or a350!
Short haul from GVA are all in a220, I would add 😎
Definitely the A350 with the commonality and operation efficiency that it would ensue, A350 has little to no teethy issues. Which the Dreamliner still faces to this day 10 years later.
I think the A350 would be a good fit
I think that Lufthansa is going to give a few 787-9’s to retire Austrian’s 767-300ER’s and Swiss A340-300’s.
And the fleet of Fokker jets which Swiss retired are now flying in Australia with Alliance.
You should do a run down on the fleet of Air New Zealand.
I'm pretty sure that with the new cargo boom we are having that SWISS won't retire the A340, they will just be turned into freighters
In 2024 maybe they will recieve seven A350-1000s together with five A350-900s to grow their fleet.
I'd push Airbus for the A220-500 and replace the A319 with them. They might even decide it's better to replace the A320 with the A220-500, if their A320 aren't usually full. However, Swiss will probably buy the A350 to replace the A340/B777.
The A 319 are all Phase out since a year
@@Cobra3010 thanks!
Regardless if they go with A350 or 787, I hope they’re more consistent with their J offerings
A350-900 because of the comonality
A350 😍
Can you make also an Austrian Video?
Why does he always say AAAUUUSTRIAN

Hi can you please do LOT Polish Airlines next?
Thank you for your recommendation. 😊✈️
I'm considering to choose SWISS airlines for my trip from Zurich to Bangkok in Economy. Anyone else who has flown this route before with a B777-300er?
787 if Boeing get their certification and supply issues sorted.
I am in the airport ready to fly business on the Swiss 777 from Singapore to Zurich
I haven't flown on Swiss since they were Swissair. It would be nice to check out their longhaul service at some point.
The a350 has reacently been ordered by Swiss in 2025 there first one will be delivered and the a340s will be replaced by this plane.
hi, could you do Austrian Airlines next please? Thank you!
Thanks for watching, we will have many more reviews in the near future! 😊✈️ - LR

How mutch have all Global Airlines shrunk by seats and (or)by Kerosine use. in the Pandemic;) thx;)
I would’ve said Brussels and Swiss would’ve suited the a339neo or 338neo
The 338 are to Small. And the 339 are the same size as the 333. So, the 359 or and 789 are best replacement for the 330 and 340.
Please Finnair next

A350
swiss air retirement all a340-300 in 2025
Worst long haul service in eco ☹️
Get rid of the boeing and make it all Airbus.
i PREFER A 340-300

The 777-300ER ain’t going anywhere Airbus diehard😂😂😂
