Audix are awesome mics, but I'm partial to the SM58 because I'm super rough with mics and they've always taken HUGE abuse from me but lived through many 'drop tests' etc... vocal fry is only one technique. another good one is to drink a whole bunch of milk and do the "clearing throat" motion, but without actually spiting up the phlem, and then sing while gargling the phlem. gross, but sounds great.

    • @famitory
      @famitory 3 года назад

      doing it without "lubrication" can damage your throat but if you keep giving yourself more "lubrication" to work with, you can do it for hours with no problems.

    • @RockYourBestVocals
      @RockYourBestVocals  3 года назад +1

      Yes, lubrication is critical but not milk - phlegm causes vocal problems. Sure, you can do these sounds with phlegm, but that is not sustainable or advisable. (it's like, you can cut a pizza with scissors, but WHY would you when there are correct 'tools'?) Trust me, I've been singing professionally for >30yrs and coaching for >20 so I know what I'm talking about by now.. thank you for taking the time to watch and comment!!! 🤘🏼😎🤘🏼

  • @ride9736
    @ride9736 Год назад +2

    Folks. Please. Make no mistake. Screaming, or a loud/soft "vocal fry" as it's sometimes called, is a (at worst) dysfunctional or, at best, an inefficient usage of the vocal mechanism. These muscle systems are like any other in the body. And if you use them in a way that promotes inflammation and continue to do it for prolonged periods of time the body will try to heal itself. Eventually you will develop polyps (little bumps) which will prevent the efficient vibration of the vocal folds (they're not cords) which will (again, over time) dramatically affect your ability to sing. If you maintain any aspirations of singing with any kind of a clear tone, screaming like this is not going to help that endeavor. I understand this audience probably isn't aiming for a "classically trained" voice, but if you start down this path, at some point it will become more and more difficult to recover without surgery. The body will adapt to whatever prolonged stimulus you provide. Even Dave Grohl's voice has changed over the years. (full disclosure, long time and forever Foo Fighter's fan, so no complaints there). Just going to leave this here now. Feel free to discuss.
