It took 10 minutes to replace the coils and plugs on my Sentra. Now this. I am definitely done with Nissan after this insane hurdle to routine maintenance. (Thanks for the video though.)
If you wanna change the slave cylinder u gotta drop the tranny, if you wanna change the fuel filter you have to take out the fuel pump. Cheap bastaads!
Thank you! I was considering changing my own spark plugs to save some money, but this video has made me realize that sometimes you have to bite the bullet and pay someone else :) I had a Sentra a few years ago and it was SO EASY to change the plugs! The hoops to go through for a Versa is pretty ridiculous!
19:26 - 19:45 "There's a little bracket right here that the hoses go into." *Proceeds to give up* Haha, I'm glad I wasn't alone on fidgeting with that one hose. I referenced this video to remove and clean my throttle body. Much thanks guys!
I'm a 2012 Versa owner. It is so over-complicated to change the spark plugs. I choose to replace the coils, throttle body & intake manifold gaskets at the same time. Thanks for this helpful tutorial!
I'm doing it on my 07 and I was thinking that I would have to replace the intake manifold gasket and intake gasket just because I don't know if they have been changed before might as well since I have it all apart thank you for having the same idea
Four years later, still a great tutorial. As a side note, for those not wanting to remove the Throttle Body and replace the gasket or take the coolant lines off, you can (albeit difficult) move the intake in a way to gain access to the plugs and intake gasket without removing the coolant lines from the TB itself.
Wow! This video is top grade! I'm at 74K miles on my 2012 Nissan Cube and I plan on replacing my spark plugs soon. Thank you so much for taking the time required to make such a detailed, step by step instructional video. You rock!!!
i like my Nissan versa 2012 hatch with 140,000 mile but the spark plug removal what a hassle, disassemble half the engine to get spark plug is bad engineering next time im getting a honda fit.
You make it look so easy. I just hope it's at least halfway as easy as that when I install my new plugs. I gotta say this though, your videos are the best ones I've seen for auto maintenance. Very helpful and insightful tutorials.
Man, without your video, I would have pulled my hair out. It took me 3 hours . That manifold is a beast getting back on. Your video made it easier though. My car had 138K on it. It was bogging down, jumping, couldn't drive over 30 mph & rpm's was up and down. Now it drives like new. Thanks
Thanks for the tutorial. You really simplified the process for me. The wiring harness really gave me some trouble with that last bolt on the right. But got it done.
I just changed my iginition coils and spark plugs and save a bunch of money thanks to you, definitely my go to for all things vehicle maintenance related. thanks again
Thank you for this video, honestly. I gave it a good try, but after stripping on 10 mm socket and breaking another trying to get the those bottom 5 bolts out, I will be taking it in to the mechanic. I did get what I took off all back together tho. Now I know why I'm charged so much for something that should be an easy fix.
What is the torque ft/pound on intake manifold? Do you used two different torque wrench like one for spark plug and one for manifold? These are the two things you forgot to mention on your video, anything else is very very helpful. Thx and happy selling.
If I'm at 100,000 and changing for the first time, should I change the ignition coils at the same time? I would hate to do this all over again in a few months.
Pretty sure he could of left the hoses on the throttle body and just taken the bolts off, then just moved it aside. Also air and power tools are mans best friend.
I saw a guy do this without removing all the hoses. He detached the throttle body and set it to the side. There’s easier ways than this to get that air intake manifold off!
Have a 2015 Versa - did my plugs myself at 30K - 60K - perhaps too early - plugs still looks new. I also clean the Throttle Plate & all areas which a shop is not going to do, while on the way. took my time approx. 2 hrs. - you can do it 1 hr.+ if you work fast but I didn't want to loose any bolts etc.
+vTn Temujin Thanks for watching! No you do not have replace the coils if you are just replacing the spark plugs, as long as your coils are still functioning properly!
You didn’t put the dip stick back in? Wish I saw this instruction video earlier. Could have save a couple of hundred dollars at least. But then again, I didn’t get dirty.
You have to be kidding me. All this to change 4 spark plugs!!!! Who designs this crap!!! Ill take it to the dealer and pay for the 1 hour labor. This is insane!!!!
remove the tires, remove the air filter, remove the seats, remove the steering wheel remove the intake manifold, remove the stereo, remove the ignition, remove the brake pad, remove the engine, remove the radiator, remove the axle… now you can reach the spark plugs
I was thinking of buying a used Nissan Versa Note but after seeing this where you have to pretty much dismantle the entire car just to get to something as fundamental as the plugs, FORGET IT.
Very nice video. However, your technician recommended replacing the Throttle Body Gasket and the Intake Manifold Gasket. In doing a search for those parts on your website, it seems odd that they are not available.
From left to right what is the firing order for ignition coils? I have a bad ignition coil for 4 is it the far left or far right when ur looking at the engine bay?
Do I need thread lock for any of these bolts ? Like medium or light thread strength for these bolts or it’s not necessary, I just want to as precaution
I have a 2013 Nissan Versa, isn't there multiple spark plugs or just that one? (If there are multiple, please upload an updated version on locating the others because I'm about to become a mechanic)
Be aware the ignition coils he said torq is 65 is to much for aluminum and small screw and buy an branded torque wrench digital no cheaper. I removed the latch hood to remove the intake easy .Check real torque.
Nice video lot of steps just to change plugs but that's what Nissan want so you'll take it in. If I'm going to do all that I'm changing the valve cover gasket as well don't want to be doing this again 6 months to a year anyone know what they should be torque to?
+steve heyer Thanks for checking us out! This is an optional step and there are some of the spark plugs that do not need this at all and may actually not allow a secure seal.
@@1AAuto Thanks! I can't get an answer from Denso if required. I know NGK doesn't require anti-seize cream. Do you know if required with Denso spark plugs?
+steve heyer From what we know from the plugs we carry, most of the Denso will also have a trivalent chrome coating so it wouldn't be needed. We can't say for sure with all of them but a majority of them will not need any grease.

Nissan very impressive engineering. For a simple spark plug change shouldn’t be this complicated.
Look up a spark plug change for a 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan. Makes this look simple.
Nissan totally lost it with this one.
It’s literally not that hard ahaha
Worse on a Nissan Murano, still not terrible though
They design them this way on purpose so the average Joe has to take it to the dealership.
Cliff notes:
Remove engine
Change spark plugs
Return engine to car

Remove engine again because you're not sure if you tightened down the spark plugs correctly

Very nice video. However, your technician recommended replacing the Throttle Body Gasket and the Intake Manifold Gasket. In doing a search for those parts on your website, it seems odd that they are not available.
Basically the car looks like it sat at the bottom of the ocean with the Titanic?!? More rust than the Titanic🤔
LOL, Son of a gun has barnacles growin off of it!
Genius engineer!!!
What band plugs you recommend for the replacement?
Check manual but NGK iridium or platinum is usually what’s recommended, I would do iridium as they is a headache to replace too often.
You say to replace the intake gaskets but they are not called out on the parts list?
Says "Replace these gaskets", doesn't show replacing the gaskets.

Yes sr. Theres is a gasket that should be replaced.
