    I bought a 2015 versa sv new while going through a divorce and starting a new business... CVT and almost 100k and no issues. I think the people complaining probably aren't in tune with their cars... I've owned over a 150 cars and before my divorce I drove a C5 Vette, Jag 3.0, Ram 1500 and a Lexus 350 and if you know how to drive without dragging the engine, jerking the trans, and take care of the maintenance, you'll be okay.

    I bought a new 2012 Versa SV sedan when they first came out. I initially loved it. It was very spacious and comfortable to drive, and the fuel economy was stellar. However, the black paint started peeling in several places the first year. Nissan took care of it under warranty, thankfully. At 30k miles I took it to the dealership to have the CVT fluid change. The dealership said their computer told them the fluid was still clean and to wait to change it at 50k miles. Well, at 38k miles the CVT started slipping and making horrible squealing noise. It was only once in a while, so it was one of those situations where the dealership would've just told me they couldn't duplicate the issue. So I kept driving hoping it would totally fail before the 60k mile warranty expired. I got it to 56k miles and it was still slipping and squealing only on rare occasions, so to avoid risking having to pay $6,000 out of pocket for a new transmission on a 2yr old car, I opted to trade it in. I was very disappointed.

    Some of my problems:
    1. I drive a manual, the clutch pedal has a very squeaky bushing,
    2. The starter gets covered in oil vapors since it's so close to the oil filter that it collects dirt/dust, giving the engine a struggle to turn over due to a dirty connection on the negative
    3. I thought the wheel bearing gap issue in the video was my problem but mine is more of a screen door spring squeak, maybe a strut?

I had someone look at it when I first got the car and they said that it could be the alternator and that it's a common problem in the versa

    2018 versa note. I was driving to work and after the commute I was on the highway for about a km. Then my rpms wend down. I tried gas and 0 acceleration. Coasted to the right into the parking lot to a spot. Turned it off and it was better. Drove it multiple times in heavy snow storm that day. Driving home acceleration just stopped. Had to pull over and put hazards on. Shut off car and re start and worked fine again. 29000 kms on the car. Just bought used at 27500 km. This happend 2 times with the cannot accelerate gas doesn’t do anything just comes to a stop

    i bought a 2012 versa back in 2016 with 40 K milage. It run great till last year, when the milage was approaching 100K. One day it would not start - I had to replace the starter. Shortly after the engine light went off - had to replace sensors, all fluids and the catalytic converter. I just followed the mechanics advice at the local Meineke. Spent close to 5K last year for all those replacements. Not sure if it was worth of spending so much on a 10 years old car....

    • @scrambler69-xk3kv

      That is your problem. Get away from Meineke. They are ripoffs. Like so many of those chain repair shops. Find yourself a good independent shop. Watch him like a hawk for a while and stay with him if he treats you right. The first time he rips you off find a different shop. I would inform him that as long as he treats you right you willl stay and spread the word to bring him more business. But if he rips you off you will again spread the word.

    Literally had none of these issues with my 2014. I have a 5 speed so the trans thing is obvious, but for me it was the HVAC Blower motor failure. Passemger side and lower rear motor mount failures, clock spring failure, and my HVAC controls stripping the gear on the blend door. Most of them being very annoying and time consuming to fix. Otherwise, been a great little car.

    I bought 2015 Versa Base / No power Windw / locks = Reason was it comes w/ traditional transmission what I wanted / Not CVT which I research at the time was not reliable. - Any models above Base for that yr has the CVT Trans.
    So far 60,000 K & Not a problem , changing fluid soon . wanted a Manual Trans actually but Wife wins.
    for those looking to buy a USED Versa again mine = 2015 maybe till 2017 ? & other yrs ? & afraid of CVT Trans , The Base Model will be it - if you don't mind no P/W + P/L + No smart screen - but otherwise has A/C / CD / Airbag / ABS . BTW Great video to 1A Auto AAA+++ DIY

    I just purchased a 2019 Nissan Versa, it rides smooth, but to turn in a curve, the front will make noise, could it be the new tires? Another question, whether I start down a hill, the car stops slow, is that normal? Should the tire traction stay on

    • @shaun64444
      @shaun64444 2 года назад

      What sort of noise? Yes it's normal for the Versa to stop slow, most cars at this price point have 4 disc brakes instead of the current 2 disc 2 drums to compensate for the lack in braking power.

    yesterday mine started a loud engine knock at start up. it was running fine a few hours before that, and the day before and so on, minus some transmission and drive-ability issues ive been having for years. i did have to tighten the serpentine belt a few days ago. the weird part is the knock wasnt present a few hours before. seemed like it normally does. then i went to go out a bit later and all of a sudden when i start the car a really loud knock. i immediately turned it off. had my wife get in and turn it on while i stood at the front looking at the engine. for the few seconds the car was on it sounded like the knock was coming from more the front of the car instead of the side where the belt is. im not sure what would have caused this. i looked underneath and there didnt appear to be any major leaks or anything.

    I thought I had issues with my transmission issues. Turns out it was two lights on my rear driver side. If your vehicle is in drive and your drive sign is blink in a 2014 Nissan Versa I’m 100 percent sure that’s the issue. I drove with the light off in my vehicle as well. I had no issues until I used my left turn signal. This was while all my lights were off. For all you Nissan Versa drivers who have this issue try that first before you get ripped off by a mechanic. They’ll put in a new transmission or even just change the bulbs because they know. I will still being having my car looked at by someone I trust. However 13 bucks vs thousands of dollars? I have to give credit a RUclipsr who has a Nissan Sentra. Their cruise control light was blink and their car had the same issues as mine. Changing the light solved the issue for them as well.

      @a06cc 2 года назад

      Yes it was 13 bucks for the lights. I had to change the rear backup and turn signal lights. Again if you see the Drive or Reverse symbols flashing in your Versa it’s a burnt out light in the rear of your car.

      I’m pretty sure I explained it with my first comment. If the rear lights go bad it will mess with the transmissions computer. It will cause the acceleration to hesitate. Have had it checked by Nissan and other mechanics , no gas leaks were found, no check engine lights, and it only happens on a hot day in the summertime, all winter long their are no issues what so ever. @blackwidow8520 Год назад +1

      Wow this is EXACTLY the issue I am having with my 16 Nissan Versa! This past 3 days the temp has been 108-112° and yep... gas fumes into the car. There are no leaks to be found. I'm sad you didn't get a reply...did you ever find out what is causing it?

    • @waronfearmongering6751
      @waronfearmongering6751 Год назад

      @@blackwidow8520 Unfortunately not, it doesn't do it when I take it in for a mechanic to look at it of course. From what I found out that I think it might be the issue is there is a rubber hose with a valve that looks like a PCV valve going from the charcoal canister and pushes into the frame of the car near the gas tank. That is where the excess fumes come from and what I think is happening is the fumes are making their way into the cab of the car through that hole. A mechanic told me that it shouldn't do that, cause that's the way it's designed. So I pulled that hose out from that hole and rerouted it back under the wheel well alongside the charcoal canister without bending it, so far it seems to help keep the fumes out, but unfortunately when you get out of the car, it stinks to high heaven from fumes. I have contacted Nissan and got nowhere, at this point I am forced to sell the car or only drive it during winter, which is the only time I don't experience the fumes. Sad though, it has been a good car up until this point, this problem started for me around 65k.
