Hi, I just wanted to thank you for this video. My car wasn't running right so I took it to a mechanic to get fixed. I originally thought the clutch was going. The mechanic said the clutch was fine, but completely misdiagnosed the problem and did a $700 + repair that didn't fix the problem. I did research and came across your video. I decided to switch out all the spark plugs and coils since I figured might as well since I'm doing the repair (plus I didn't know which coil and/or plug was giving the problem). Let's just say that when I went to turn the key, I cried a little when the engine started. The car runs great now. I will be patting myself on the back for the remainder of the weekend(it's Friday). I really appreciate you making this video. Good health to you and your family.
Great video.... dealer quoted $780 for this job. I just bought spark plugs for $18 (set of 4) & ignition coils $42 (set of 4) on eBay, followed all the steps from this helpful video and with a little bit of help with a neighbor and his tools, after 1 hr time well spent, I could do it all by myself. Thank you a lot for the video Sir.
Hi Jonathan, Thank you for the advice. Yes.. I did bit of research before buying NGK sparkplugs (PLZKAR6A-11) which turned out to be exact model match to what I pulled out of my versa SV sedan 2012. I can't couldn't be so sure of the coils but, they looked good too and brand new. Thanks a lot once again... your videos are giving me a lot of confidence to do few DIYs on my car. My next jobs are brakes, SVT fluid change followed by front bearings. I've looked at some of your videos related to these new jobs and in the process getting the parts. I am already a huge of your videos... so, please keep those coming.
@The mech a nic You are the absolute greatest! My 2015 Versa Note SR is having major issues - ignition coils (blowing up per my former mechanic), oil on plugs, dreaded flashing check engine light followed by full engine kill, which is super fun on the interstate. I’ve used this vid to change out the plugs, and tomorrow, I’m going back in to do gaskets on manifold, valve cover, and throttle body. Thank you again! You have saved me hundreds of dollars! I wish I could just replace this car, but used cars are ridiculously expensive right now. Anyway, I wish you all the best!!!! -M
followed you instructions. versa is running much smoother now. got a nice 850-900 idle. thanks man. gonna tackle the transmission fluid next with guidance from your video.
Great tutorial and the best so far. I especially liked the way u removed just the throttle body without disconnecting the anti freeze hoses. I got it all done. Thank you

I went to pep boys today to diagnose a check engine light. Turns out I need to change an ignition coil. You did this in less than 15 minutes, with some time for your adorable baby :). They wanted to charge me $311 for what they claimed is over 2 hours of work. Thankfully a friend of mine is very handy and going to help me change it with help from this video. I just did one on my mom's car. The check engine light went on, and with a code scanner, I found a code P0303, which is a third cylinder misfire. I bought a set of new coils and a set of spark plugs. I also bought dielectric grease and anti seize to get my job done. Thanks for posting.
Glad the video helped you. I'd throw out the #3 coil but keep the other 3 . They're still working and it's a good idea to keep them if they're original nissan parts.
09-20-22 I watched your video for the 4th time and finally ready to change the original spark plugs on my 2015 Micra S (129,000+ KM). Totally Agree with Steve Rob and all, wonderful video. Watched your front and rear brake replacement videos too and done replaced the front rotors and rear brake drums. Again, thank you very much.
Just used your very thorough video to complete this job on my friend's 2015 Nissan Versa Note. Did spark plugs and intake gasket. Cleaned the throttle body as well. At 170,000 miles, the factory platinum spark plugs were extremely worn. Installed NGK iridium spark plugs. Job went well. Thanks!
Hey !!! Thanks for the video. I just did the job today and it went very well. Your video was very detailed and easy to follow. I did have to buy a bolt extractor set to remove the 5 lower fasteners on the intake because the existing bolts were very rusted and stripped easily. I didn’t mind. I look for any excuse to buy new tools for my collection. Of course I also replaced the rusted bolts with new ones from Nissan. $30 for 5 bolts shipped. And installed new intake and throttle body gaskets while I was there. Oh yeah I also replaced the coil boots. Hopefully I won’t have to do this job again in the future, but if I do, I know I can reference your video for help. Thanks again for the awesome video.
Easily the RUclips video of the year for me. Had CEL and took it to the stealership, and the fault code was P0302, which is a misfire in cylinder 2. Coil and spark plug replacement, the stealership gave me an estimate of $2,000. Many thanks to you, I was able to do this for less than $200, I replaced all 4 coils and 4 spark plugs; I mean why not? I might as well right? That $200 also included a set of cheap ratchet set.

Thank you for this video! I have a 2015 Note and I was dreading this disassembly process and recalibration. This makes it not so daunting and thank you for a bypass for the recalibrations. Did you disconnect the battery before the work or leave it connected? Also, does not disconnecting that second electrical plug on the back of the throttle body prevent the need for the recalibrations? My dealer wants an arm and a leg for this simple repair.
Thanks for watching. I did not disconnect the battery and there probably isnt a issue with unplugging the throttle body but I didnt want to find out the hard way. Plus im trying to make a video for people that I feel is the easiest way of doing this without having to take extra steps.
Thank you for making it so straight forward for the average home mechanic. They make newer cars so difficult to work on yourself nowadays. I was reading various forums stating that if it’s not calibrated, it won’t idle right and I’m glad nothing has come up for you.
Great video. Very detailed. Just 2 suggestions. Spark plug manufacturers recommend not using anti seize because it changes the friction and makes it easy to over torque and strip the threads. Also on the spark plugs the new iridium plugs are very brittle and are not meant to be gapped by the consumer.

Great video thank you! Liked and subscribed. Question, is it necessary to replace the coils when changing the plugs? I noticed coils are pretty expensive
Not at all. If the coils are still working generally they're fine. If your car has over 100k miles on the original ignition coils they might be worth changing to avoid having to do the whole job over. To answer your question, it's not necessary to change coils if they still work
So the correct gap for the spark plug for this versa is .43 and the torque spec was 14 ft lb? I jus want to make sure because I got to Change the plugs on my moms versa. Thanks

Do you have to replace the rubber gasket on the intake be for bolting it onto the head? Or is it possible to use the original rubber gasket around the intake
Hi, thanks for the instructional video! When I unscrewed one of the bolts for the intake manifold some of the threading came off of one of the holes and now the bolt wont screw on tight. The idle rpm now fluctuates as if someone were revving the engine. How do i fix this? Thanks again very helpful video!
The mech a nic rewatched the video and checked everything and followed your steps and all of the tubes are where they are supposed to to be. It stops fluctuating for a bit and then starts doing it again. Thanks for the help!
@@themechanic6117 Yea I changed the spark plugs, cabin filter, air filter, and oil filter today. I put everything back where it was following your specifications. When putting back the manifold the only thing that was off is that one of the bolts wouldnt tighten all the way when I used the torque wrench, it would just skip and get loose again if that makes sense. When I initially unscrewed that bolt some of the threading from the hole came with it. Thanks for the help!
Theres a Haynes manual for the older versas which have pretty much the same engine. Most times spark plugs are already gapped for your car but of course you'd have to check that
Typical of Nissan to make it more inconvenient than it should be to change the spark plugs. I had an 2011 Elantra and the once you pop off the engine cover you have access to the spark plugs. Just changed some on an e46 BMW 3 push pins 4 t30 torx screws and the 2nuts 2 bolts for the engine cover that was it honestly.
I have same engine in my Nissan Cube except its a 1.5 I have a intermittent shaking when stopped at stop light only while my foot is on the brake and the car in gear its a cvt transmission if I shift to N it doesn't shake at all any tips on this very annoying issue please and thank you 🙏
No I didn't because when I made the video my car had low Miles so everything was still new. If you're going in there for a tune up or maintenance you should change any gasket that you open up
Hold on , your not changing the spark plugs , your only removing and installing for teaching purposes ? Man your taking a chance on creating a problem ..that’s some dedication 👍👏✌🏻

Do you have to replace the rubber gasket on the intake be for bolting it onto the head? Or is it possible to use the original rubber gasket around the intake
They should get replaced. I didnt replace mine because my car was pretty much new when i made this video.
Are you sure everything is plugged in and all hoses connected back?
The mech a nic rewatched the video and checked everything and followed your steps and all of the tubes are where they are supposed to to be. It stops fluctuating for a bit and then starts doing it again. Thanks for the help!
@@mostercreature i think you may have a vacuum leak. What did you initially go in there for? Spark plugs?
@@themechanic6117 Yea I changed the spark plugs, cabin filter, air filter, and oil filter today. I put everything back where it was following your specifications. When putting back the manifold the only thing that was off is that one of the bolts wouldnt tighten all the way when I used the torque wrench, it would just skip and get loose again if that makes sense. When I initially unscrewed that bolt some of the threading from the hole came with it. Thanks for the help!
Does it drive ok? Just idles high?
Great video, really helpful for this process. What manual did you use for the specs on the gapping of the plugs, and torque specs?
Theres a Haynes manual for the older versas which have pretty much the same engine. Most times spark plugs are already gapped for your car but of course you'd have to check that
How do I look for a manual like this for a micra 2019 ??
@@mayumidealbabarrera2927 like i did i bought a manual for a older nissan versa since its pretty much the same car and same engine
Did you replace the gasket on the intake manifold or just reuse the old one?
I reused mine because my car was still "new" i made the video just to show hows its done. You should replace the gaskets
great video bro thanks
Thank you 👍
Good job youngman.. Thanks..
Thanks for the comment 👍
How do I know how to torque at what lbs?? Is there a special tool? Or the regular torque will tell me?
Im not sure i understand your question. Buy a torque wrench and you can look up torque specs online or buy a service manual
@@themechanic6117 thanks :)
Great informative video thanks 👍🏼👍🏼
I have same engine in my Nissan Cube except its a 1.5 I have a intermittent shaking when stopped at stop light only while my foot is on the brake and the car in gear its a cvt transmission if I shift to N it doesn't shake at all any tips on this very annoying issue please and thank you 🙏
Did you change any gaskets like inlet or throttle body? Thanks
No I didn't because when I made the video my car had low Miles so everything was still new. If you're going in there for a tune up or maintenance you should change any gasket that you open up
Thanks! How to get services manual for that engine?
I believe i got mine from a autozone. Its for a older versa but alot of it is the same
Do you have to replace the intake gaskets and throttle body gasket if car has 200k on it?
I definitely would
Love it was a big help thanks so much
Why didn't you change out the intake manifold gaskets?
Because my car had low miles when I made the video. The gaskets were still like new at the time.
Hold on , your not changing the spark plugs , your only removing and installing for teaching purposes ? Man your taking a chance on creating a problem ..that’s some dedication 👍👏✌🏻
Trying to decide if OEM ignition coils are worth the extra $$ or if I should be ok with aftermarket ones.
Aftermarket ones are ok just dont buy the cheapest ones you can find. Look for a decent brand
Hi sir i have some question to you., is it possible to have problem in spark plug and ignition coil or injector without any engine lights On?
Yes its possible
@@themechanic6117 sir my main problems is my car car run stable, especially when i stop/brake and GO/accelerate, my car like choking though, and i was thinking about the spark plugs or the injector. But idk hehehe
@@themechanic6117 i got 2014 nissan versa note sv
@@Pacsa sounds like a vacuum leak if it doesn't run well only during idle
@@themechanic6117 kinda, but its lossing power when i run and stop the accelerate sir the engine is like no power for may be 5-10 secs. I am so stress with my versa, i bought it second hand
I haven't done the spark plugs but when do you suggest getting them done? I am at around 165k kms
+ricelife spark plugs last a very long time nowadays. Check the owners manual. It could say 60,80,100k miles
You don’t have to change the gaskets?
You should , my car had low miles when I made this video so the gaskets were still like new
@@themechanic6117 how do we change the gaskets?
Once the intake manifold is off you just need to peel the old gask off and replace it
Спасибо 👍
Thanks 👍
New gaskets…no ? On throttle body and manifold ?? another video says we should replaced those
Yes replace gaskets. My car was still new when I took this apart to make the video.
Did everything but when I start it runs for a second then it shuts off ? Vacuum leak? What is the best way to figure this out?
Sounds like a vacuum leak. Double check everything is plugged in
does the battery have to be disconnected?
You can if you want...but no
Do you have a list of tools you need?
Buy a small ratchet set and a set of pliers and you should have everything you need .
