    Comparing the Mega Merc to the Mega Death for all mountain riding, pow, carving groomers, chunder ,hard pack ice etc. What would be the main differences between the two. There are some great sales on the Mega Merc now and I was wondering if the up charge for the Mega Death is worth it. Thanks ! Oh, I must say I'm very impressed with your riding!

    if you had to sell either a super doa or a mega merc to a resort and powder intermediate rider - what would you pick? would the super doa accommodate the skill level better despite it being better for park features opposed to all mountain? and would either pair well with burton’s new gen step on boots and bindings?

    • @SearchofSnowboarding

      I actually just had a customer that was in the same boat deciding between these two boards. He ended up going with the Super Doa because it is a little softer and would be more maneuverable for him, he even got Step Ons too, which would be great on either board

    Hi! I am looking for advice regarding size of the Mega Mercury (155 or 157). I currently ride on a Amplid Paradigma (2010) 159. I mainly ride on groomers, carving and some jups/side hits. Sometimes powder but not often in park. I am 6" tall, weigh 170-175 LBS and have shoe size US 9. I am leaning towards the 155 due to my shoe size but do you think that I will have enough stability on higher speeds and length for carving as I come from a 159 board (flex 6, directional twin, camrocker and waist widt 250mm)? On the other side the 157 might be wide and feel to big. Thank you in advance for your advice! Kind regards, Sander

      You could really do either. I'm your height but 30lbs less than you and the 157 is perfect for me. You're right in the middle where if you want a more nimble board go 157, or a more stable board at top speeds go 159. I'd suggest the 159 though

    Great review! Wish I saw this video sooner. I grabbed the 161 mega merc since they are flying off the shelves. Capita recommended the 161 mega merc over the 159 for my specs “5’9 190-195lbs size 10 boot with union falcors in medium”. I was torn between the atlas and falcor and also the bsod and mega merc. Hope I made the right decision? Haha. I ride fast all mountain/freeride, powder and steeps. No park since I prefer a side hit or natural features to boost off of. Hope you have a great season and let me know what you think? Union recommended the falcor for freeride and the atlas being more freestyle according to them and their website.

    • @SearchofSnowboarding
      @SearchofSnowboarding  Год назад +1

      Can't go wrong with any of those. The Mega Merc and Falcors should ride great in the terrain you'll be in. I personally like the Atlas better because I don't like the mini disc on the Falcors as much. I'll be riding both the Mega Merc and BSOD this year, so good news is that if you want the BSOD in the future it will be different enough from the Mega Merc to make a good quiver of boards

    • @SearchofSnowboarding
      @SearchofSnowboarding  Год назад

      They are both great boards and will ride well for what you're looking to do with them. The biggest difference is that you get a more premium build in the Mega Merc, which among other things makes it noticeably lighter weight. If money isn't a concern, I'd maybe suggest the Mega Merc.

  • @JohnnyEase
    @JohnnyEase 10 месяцев назад +1

    Hey Shane, it's me again. I am still torn between the 160w and 161. Assuming both are a match regarding my shoe size and weight, what will be the difference in riding feel between the two:
    a) For powder and dampness on high speed, do you think it's an advantage to have a wider board or to have a 1cm longer board?
    b) Is one of the two significantly better at carving (e.g. given the smaller radius)?
    THANK YOU. Subbed and liked many videos already!!

    • @SearchofSnowboarding
      @SearchofSnowboarding  10 месяцев назад +1

      The 1cm in length will not make any noticeable difference, what you'll notice is the difference in width. You'll be ok on the 161 at a 261mm width, but with a few more millimeters on the 160W at 265mm you might find that you can carve harder and get higher up on your edge before booting out. It will make a little difference when carving but not too much of a difference in terms of surface area and float-ability in powder. Some people know if they like a little wider or not, you'll just have to figure that out for yourself over time.

    I am not sure which snowboard to pick out of these three:
    Capita Mega Merc
    Capita BSOD
    K2 Alchemist
    I am an expert rider with the following riding styles:
    - bomb down groomer going at high speeds (very rarely paired with a little indie grab or so)
    - carve deep in mid to big turns at high speeds
    - when conditions allow go off piste in powder, or off piste besides groomer inbetween treues/through wood
    (very rarely doing little tricks, 180’s and switches); but finally it must be considered that these perfect pow days become more and more rare -> then it’s left to bombing groomers
    - After half day riding groomers and piste usually get messy and bumpy so the Board should handle crud and chunder like a charm.
    Do you have any final advise?
    THX,
    Andi

      Thanks a lot for the advise and the awesome vid.
      Would you still advise the BSOD against the Mega Merc when taking the following into account besides of what my mentioned riding style is:
      -from time to time but rarely doing little tricks over natural bumps, even more rarely 180’s and switch riding
      -almost no park any more and absolutely no pipe at all
      -from time to time I take a trail through the woods over bumps with my 10y old son (not always in powder and not speeding to much)
      -the board should glance at going through bunched up snow and icy underneath.
      -besides that it would be nice if it could run a straight line at high speeds without accidently beeing catchy on an edge
      Finally would you consider BSOD beeing stiffer against the Mega Merc (some say the feeling of the MM is stiffer than Capita technically says with 6.5).
      Or is BSOD stiffer.
      I‘m curious what your final suggestion will be:-)
      Cheers man!!!

Sometimes I play around off piste. Rarely I go freeriding in powder. I do not go into parks at all, except small jumps or low, short rails.

I appreciate the fast base, responsiveness, and stability. The only thing is, I do not ride switch at all, nor do I use rails or attempt big jumps. Is there anything similar in a directional, setback version (with all the benefits of the Super DOA)? I assume it could offer some advantages over a twin if I don't ride switch. Or not?
