    The Indoor Survival was definitely the winner on the capita lineup this season. It was thanks to you guys i even considered getting it and i'm so glad i did! I paired it with the Union Ultras and it's a killer combo. 6'1", 185, size 9,5 boots, stance 21" +12/-12, board size 156

    Hi guys, I really want to thank you for making these reviews and particularly this one. I was looking for a new board after owning one for over 20 years and I decided to go with the Indoor Survival 158 wide. I had the K2 Zeppelin 164 b4 never got better then a decent beginner. I just came back from 4 days on the mountains with the new board and maann, this is a huuuge difference. I was able to rip it from the first try, it switches from hill to tow with such ease and holds edge unbelievable. Even saved my ass a few times only bcs I got to lazy.
    Thanks again, keep doing the good videos.

    Hey guys, I've been looking at the Yes Basic Uninc (156W - I'm 165-170lbs and 10US) for park (big, med, and small jump lines + jibbing) and all mountain riding (not much pow in Australia though).
    However for the same price, I can grab an Indoor Survival (156).
    From your reviews, both sound like great boards, and both would be a playful decks all around the mountain, yet still be great for all of the park.
    Which board do you guys reckon is better? Should I stick with Uninc or go with the Indoor Survival?

    • @thegoodridesnow

      Uninc is much better for hard and uneven snow vs. the Indoor Survival so for where you mainly ride that's the better choice.

    I take it you liked this more than the DOA? Was it the pop and trad camber? Can't decide between the two, feels like I'm splitting hairs but I've been riding camber boards since 2004 so I'm leaning Indoor.

    • @thegoodridesnow
      @thegoodridesnow  2 года назад +1

      Yes I did but it's all down to personal preference. For me the pop was the same between the two. What it came down to me was the turning experience I got from the Indoor. It just felt better than the DOA. Both are great boards and it just comes down to what calls to you more. So if you are used to full camber I'd probably go with the Indoor.

    • @thegoodridesnow
      @thegoodridesnow  5 месяцев назад +1

      Yeah, just detune near the end of the sidecut into the nose/tail so it doesn't catch an edge as easily and butter easier. It's something most of us used to do back in the day when boards were full camber. You only need to take a pass or two with a file at a very mellow angle when on the effective edge.

      I loved the playfulness/nimbleness and even carving felt good with the flat profile.
      I wanna learn freestyle carving like Ryan knapton but at medium speeds.
      Flat tricks ,butter, sidejumps stuff like this as well

    Thanks for the review! I got the indoor survival and absolutely love it. Sold my burton custom, never Summer Proto slinger and bataleon disaster plus because the indoor has all the playfulness and pop I could wish. But how would you compare the indoor survival to the super doa?

    • @thegoodridesnow
      @thegoodridesnow  11 месяцев назад

      Thanks for your take. We all liked the Indoor better because of the extra camber vs. the Camber to flat. It popped about the same, turned a little better and just matched up with our turning style of riding better. That being said the Super DOA is well liked by many and really shines for those that love an easy ollie or lapping kickers in the park. I would try to demo the Super DOA or DOA and bring your Indoor to compare to see what you like better as it's all personal preference.

    • @thegoodridesnow
      @thegoodridesnow  11 месяцев назад

      If you mean turn initiation then yeah DOA's are faster but the extra camber gives much better spring out of the turn vs less camber to more flat on the DOA's. The DOA's pop really well on an ollie though and are the same or a touch better there. Its just hard to beat almost full camber when it comes to the overall turning experience.

    Just had my first couple rides on this board. I’m a mid-high intermediate coming from an Outerspace Living. Tough transition. Far less torsional flex, feels pretty catchy, and not friendly to skidded turns. Very poppy though which is great while carving and jumps.

    • @thegoodridesnow
      @thegoodridesnow  2 года назад +1

      I think it will work at 158 as it's pretty wide over the inserts. To be sure I would check timecode 3:10 where there are measurements of the 158's width over the inserts and compare it to the footprint of your Large Strata's at the stance angles you use to make sure there is no binding overhang. The wide might feel pretty wide for 10.5's but that could work too if you like a little wider board for your boot size.

    How do you think this compairs to the lib tech dynamo? I don't do a ton of park and am trying to improve my switch riding this season. Is the Dynamo bad for switch riding cause it's not a twin and not centered? Is the indoor survival too chattery at speed or on uneven snow when the runs get torn up by the end of the day? I mainly ride in the midwest, Wisconsin can get pretty iced up, and take one or two trips out west each year. Is the lib better cause of the magnetraction?

    Hey James - Did you guys get a chance to ride the 2023 Outsiders this year? If so is the Indoor Survival still your top Capita board in the V1 profile?

    • @thegoodridesnow
      @thegoodridesnow  2 года назад

      No we didn't but I'm sure it's still a pretty fun board. The Indoor and Outsiders are pretty different rides though so hard to compare the two. Indoor has a setback on sidecut and is stiffer. more of an all mountain to mountain freestyle ride. Outsiders is a softer true twin more for park to mountain freestyle riding.

      @@thegoodridesnow Sorry for the confusion! I mean the Outsiders camber board with V1 profile, not the Outerspace Living, which I agree is a softer board than the Indoor.
      The Outsiders as I understand it is a 6 firmness, so stiffer than Indoor.

    • @thegoodridesnow
      @thegoodridesnow  2 года назад +1

      No confusion here. The Outsiders I tried a while back felt pretty soft. Softer than the Indoor does now. I was not accidentally referencing the Outerspace living. Maybe they stiffened up the Outsiders. Hope to get on it again. Still feel they are pretty different boards though.

    Hello! Quick question. I was recently gifted this board, still in plastic, and am not sure if I should keep it as it may be too much for me? Last season I rode a 2021 Burton Custom 150 for half the season and a YES Basic 149. The custom was borrowed. I would consider myself a kinda low-mid intermediate rider, getting into deeper carving and getting into park stuff and more buttering. I typically ride down blues. When getting into park I was told by a lot of instructors that the basic isn't really a good platform to want to progress in park with. So, my question is if this board would be worth it to keep or should I swap it for something better suited to my skill level? For reference I am 5'7, 135lb, size 9.5 vans invader pro boots. Thanks! Also love the videos, big fan. You guys really go in depth to a level far greater than most.

      Many thanks for the good words. What size Indoor Survival were you gifted? Also, what part of the park? Jibs, Jumps, Pipe or a little of everything?

    • @thegoodridesnow
      @thegoodridesnow  2 года назад +1

      That is a good fit for you spec wise and that is a great jump board. However, It's a little on the technical side and it will be easier to catch an edge with it. I learned on a lot worse back in the day but you have the opportunity to learn with less consequence so your choice.. You might actually like something like the Basic and Outerspace Living for park. The Basic 149 or 152 isn't great if you want to jib but it is a pretty solid board for hitting kickers/jumps. It is also better matched for your skill level. So is the 154 Outerspace Living.

      @@thegoodridesnow Awesome! Thanks so much for the tips, I really appreciate it. I think that I will stick with the Basic for now maybe when I get some more technical skills branch out to a board better suited for what I decide to do, focus park or not. I will make sure to keep watching your vids for board reviews so I will know what to get down the line! Keep being awesome man :)

      I got the indoor survival and it's a amazing board. Go capita great boards

    • @thegoodridesnow
      @thegoodridesnow  Год назад

      Yeah all are great boards in their own way. Jackpot is softer and has a lot more camber and the best edge hold but worst in pow. Agent is stiffer but has early rise before the nose/tail so it's actually more forgiving. Better in pow than the Jackpot. Both are great boards. If you want softer and more poppy but more unforgiving go Jackpot. If you want more forgiving and a little better on the mountain go Agent. Now if you want a flex similar to the Agent, a camber profile between the Jackpot and Agent (not that forgiving though), best pop of the three and a little more set back on board for more directional float on pow days go Indoor Survival.

    Hi James, I'm considering between INDOOR and CUSTOM. Is the overall experience of the INDOOR even better than the BURTON CUSTOM? What are the pros and cons of INDOOR and CUSTOM compared to each other? Which one would be better for complex snow conditions (cruds, messy snow, icy)?

    • @thegoodridesnow
      @thegoodridesnow  Год назад +1

      Both are great boards and both are pretty technical. I personally prefer the Indoor a little more just because it is a little more forgiving and more versatile as a one board quiver. I don't have to be on my game as much as the Custom but the Custom has more pop and drive out of a turn with that full camber.

    Believe it or not but the vast majority of the customers ski in resorts and CAPITA does not classify the mercury as a resort board. Only 4 belong to this category the DOAs, the outer space and the new aeronaut. The great Outdoor survival is park and probably too centered stiff twin for resort grade powder as you mentioned. So there is still room to salami this side of the market, with the aeronaut they decided to kick the can far back into the 90'. Hopefully we won't have to wait for another 5 years for a more directional outdoor.

      They are pretty close when it comes to carving. I'd say more pop on an ollie/better spring out of the turn with the Indoor but more grip/more forgiivng/better uneven snow performance with the Greats. Hi James, if I ride the Nitro Team with no issues of catchy-ness, would this board be ‘less’ catchy for me compared to the Nitro Team?
    And between this and the Rome Warden, which board is more “advanced” and separately, between warden and this, which is more “catchy”? Thanks in advance!
