I just thought about the many years I've been watching Patrick on various tech programs... and it's always been an informative time.
He has lost lots of hair since Tech TV days.
Did you not look at the focus on this episode??
Love the set.....nice seeing a change, and fun decoding what books Patrick has on his shelf.
Wow thanks for the feature TekThing! Meeting you like-minded folks at the end of Maker Faire was an awesome way to end the show
Like the new space. It has a nice relaxed vibe.
The telephoto lens is actually 13MP with 2.2x optical zoom that is automatically cropped down to an 8MP image. Deception at its finest, just like with the OnePlus 5.
Seriously this show is my go to for my tech news. Even though I can't afford many of 'em, their "budget" segments are almost a quick buy for me, especially those budget headphones they suggested awhile back. Awesome work guys!
Thanks so much, Harry! -Patrick
The around the ear Monoprice headphones they recommended have been a god-send! They're a little tight and sweaty for day-long use, but they sound amazing for being so cheap, and adding them to foam earplugs and a mixed noise track cuts out pretty much any noise so I can write safely. Now, if only I could cut that much out, when playing with/editing audio...
The one feature that OnePlus phone is missing is removable storage. That phone caps out at 256 gigs of storage? With those specs, they should have thrown in expandable storage capability. That would have been the flagship killer. but, I have pretty much sworn off any future phone that does not have expandable storage. You don't miss it, until you don't have it.
Indeed. Lack of headphone jack also kills it for me :/
Great episode as usual. I am definitely intrigued about those $60 earbuds so we'll check those out. I was a little bit disappointed however because you didn't do your analogue segments.... :-(
Shannon - you can mono-bud either of the buds from the Liberty Lites. If you plan on using the left bud, u need to pair that one separately. Also, there seems to be a newer model - Liberty Neo.
Thank you for the timestamps in the description that help me skip the cell phone content!
You're killing me with the soft focus guys! Please use a smaller aperture and then set your manual focus. I would prefer you to be in focus more than having a shallow DOF.
Hey TekThing, thanks for the review of the phone! It looks like a solid phone for the "price to feature" ratio. Do y'all have any info on if there's 5G and/or WiFi 6 compatibility? I've looked around and gotten mixed answers from online forums and OnePlus' website. Thanks!
Why can't you put the Google FI sim card into the Oneplus 7 pro dual SIM slot?
Hay @Snubbs, does the OnePlus 7 Pro kill bigger apps running in the background when opening it's camera app, like killing Pokemon Go? That exact problem seems to plague phones like the Pixel line.
I'm disappointed since the rumors are that there will not be any hardware accelerated ray tracing. If that's true, I'm just going to wait.
Like the house set. Excellent show always enjoy.
Seems to be an issue with the camera. The image is very blurred at 1080p. Focus out?
Yeah, turned the autofocus off this week, and found a new problem to fix! My apologies! -Patrick
They were using a large aperture lens and focused it a few inches in front of their faces. You can see that their hand ARE in focus when they wave/gesture in front of them. Easy mistake to make and notice until they were probably editing, can't blame them for not wanting to reshoot the whole show.
@@JesusVillanueva Oh indeed, just pointing out to them there's an issue.
@@thegeneral123 Sorry, somehow didn't see that Patrick had already acknowledged and responded to your original comment, and tone is hard to determine on the webs.
Do something analog segment?
check out the mifo o5 earbuds
Which phone did you use to record while at Disney?
I'm really excited for Navi!!!
I have to agree with Shannon. Having a built in screen recorder would be great!
That being said, I have to admit, I rarely use my screen recording app, and when I do, it's just to save odd flukes or issues in various apps, websites, etc. But it really came in handy when I wanted to show my mom how to do something on her phone. I'd also add, that if your screen recording app doesn't show where you're touching, the developer setting to show taps is also very useful. I just explained and chatted, as I did the thing, and then sent the video to her. So much easier than trying to explain it over speakerphone! (Of course, I also reminded her about email sender spoofing, and that she shouldn't automatically trust an attachment, even if it's from me, since it was relevant.)
Any ideas on how to Bluetooth into my ham radio? I would have to run vox or wired PTT, but having bidirectional audio would be cool. I guess i need a dongle that has -40dBV audio out and 8 ohm audio in. 73, W9PCS
Depending on the radio you're using, the manufacturer may have a module that you can add to the radio that will support Bluetooth with their own bluetooth headset.
Honestly, not surprised at all that makerfaire will probably be going away. I went to the very first one at that bay area location and it was incredible, the amount of attractions were spectacular and it was clear that a lot of money was spent to make it an amazing show. There were test drives of amazing new hybrid vehicles, full size BattleBots arena, incredible music bands, and amazing tech booths everywhere you turned.
Fast forward only two or three years, and the event turned into a money grab. Ticket prices were becoming ridiculous, compared to the amount of attractions that were being offered. Almost everything at the show was meant to upsell you on things. If you went there as a family of five, your wallet would be destroyed. Most of the builds were copy-paste from burning man. Meanwhile, the only attractions that were left were little booths for children with pipe cleaners and learning to solder, and that sort of nonsense.
I'm sure it's gone by now, no offense, but good riddance.
Watching with my 43" 4K TV, RUclips shows this video is in 1080P, but your focus is sooo soft with no details. Hmmm....out of focus? Looks like 480P! :(
I also watched on a large 1080P TV screen and it seems that they set the focus a few inches in front of their faces. I notice that Shannon's hands were in focus as she gestured when talking about the OnePlus 7 Pro. I guess this is one of the problems with large aperture lenses.
@@JesusVillanueva Preposterous that they don't check this before rolling.... Especially from such a veteran crew! ;)
@@scootroter4859I'm somewhat surprised by that too, but you can see they notice about halfway into the show and fixed it.
oh my god... de-ess please!
Solid phone, shame about the price :( - One plus no longer the 'budget king'
umm didnt this phone get banned? or more specifically the company? I thought they arent going to make anymore and cant use android os anymore
Really bad audio, guys. Sounds way overmodulated and distorted, especially Patrick.
your video is blurry
