    Thanks for the review, i got the Hard as shell as well to support his venture and im happy with the performance, Cquartz lite packs a punch, i always have it in my detail kit. U made a good point about the prep work, prep is key and should be done well. Lets get that 2k sub for this month!

      Hard as Shell and Rapid Ceramic Paint Sealant were both very nice to work with. A slight edge to Rapid Ceramic as it was slicker on application and wipe off, but both good.

    C Quartz lite is honestly the best coating for the money out there, just bought the new version that comes in a glass bottle sadly it’s only 100ml now instead of 150, but still a great value. Got it going strong on the wife’s car at 18 months with minimal maintenance.

    • @sheepstardetail
      @sheepstardetail  7 месяцев назад +2

      It honestly makes the speed and convenience of spray coatings completely inconsequential, simply due to how much longer it will last. And it doesn’t need to flash so application is much easier, plus only 4 hours of dry time before wet.
      I am surprised it isn’r more praised on RUclips.

    • @AmirAbdullah

      I’m not so sure about that, a few come to mind that can be found cheaper just off hand the Meguiars Hybrid paint coating is another that can go door to door with lite, CanCoat can to and to apply is easy with the Jimbo product. Not just that I think I could get the Griots 3-1 wax with proper maintenance to go 18months. That might be a stretch . But Jimbos product fills a void for detailers to be able to back up claims of 180 days. Add in a Maint program and I wouldn’t be surprised if it went 10 mo. Don’t get me wrong. I like lite, it’s an awesome product. But for the cost of Meguiars Hybrid paint coating lite is definitely not the best dollars for dollar coating. Nowadays with proper maintenance. You can get a regular spray sealant to go longer than expected. That gives younger newer detailers an opportunity to be able to guarantee their work. They can charge a little more if they learn the proper process. Jimbos product is a great tool.

      @@AmirAbdullah hybrid paint coating is $100 plus shipping for me in Canada, no one selling in local stores (Cquartz lite was $70 for 150ml, found on sale for $35, and the new version is $60 for 100ml). Carpro Cquartz lite is what I would be offering as a hobbiest detailer if I wanted to stake my reputation on the protection lasting 6 months. I wouldn’t buy a single spray coating at this point in time and guarantee 75% performance after 6 months. My video on spray coatings vs real coatings has a 6 month update and Cquartz lite is still well within 75% performance, without being decon’d or boosted (and the hood was COVERED in rail dust).
      Don’t get me wrong, for home detailers only working on their own cars, spray sealants have come a long way, but I wouldn’t stand behind anyone lasting more than 3 months (at least, so far).

    I would've like to have seen the gloss and jetting effect. To much obsession on durability on all these type products. Just reapply every so often, and it will hold up fairly well. I should be getting Hard As Shell tomorrow so we'll see what gives. I hope the gloss and shine is as good as what I already have because I've got a ton of stuff! 😁

      I am going to do that comparison as well, but I wanted to test chemical resistance first as that was its main design goal. I also don’t want to test it against chemical resistance resistance products during real world, so I have some spicy competitors coming in just for this test.

    First time visitor to your channel. Product comparisons are my favorite kind auto detailing videos. Durability is important but so are qualities like slickness, jetting effect, gloss, visual appeal, self-cleaning, and does it attract dust. • @sheepstardetail

      Thanks for the sub, and the constructive feedback. The things you mention are things I’d like to test (I do hydrophobics, jetting, real world durability, and chemical resistance now) but it’s hard to repeatedly test for some of those factors. Gloss requires a meter, and the others would require strict controls to be repeatable. Worth exploring in the future but I will admit I don’t know how to execute some of those.

    For those of us who deal with Northern Hemisphere winters, the durability issue is a virtue to keep things protected from everything mother nature and regional Departments of Transportation can throw at it.✔️
    But, for the non-professional types and driveway people who don't one dimensionally obsess about just the durability thing and maintain their rides regularly, what about shine/overall look?
    How does Jimbo's product do in that arena? Additionally, if used as a base, does it work well if, say, one wants to top it later with carnuba as an example or a competitors product? Speaking of toppers, is it effective if one wants to cover a tired layer of something - again, I use carnuba as an example. Just sayin...
    Can it be used effectively as a wet-wax/drying aid?
    Shine on you crazy diamond!

    • @sheepstardetail
      @sheepstardetail  7 месяцев назад +2

      He doesn’t directly claim it, he claims a coating should survive a torture test, but then applies the coating poorly and makes it look like they don’t last. Also, torture tested are not indicative of real world durability. RUclips detailers have. Just gotten lazy and used torture test as a crutch in place of doing actual work.

    • @chrisbradley3224
      @chrisbradley3224 7 месяцев назад

      Yeah a spray can't beat a bottle generally (excepting CanCoat which shouldn't have a spray head). Jimbo's is also water based not using a solvent carrier so it has a further disadvantage. The performance is commendable I think given that it is water based.

    • @sheepstardetail
      @sheepstardetail  7 месяцев назад +1

      Remember, even a water based product can be designed to have high PH/low PH resistance, and maintain its surface tension. That’s all that torture tests look at, maintaining surface tension in various PH levels. This is why torture test champs tend to not translate into real world champs unless they are true coatings.

      Never faulted Jimbo for the cost, made that pretty clear in both videos featuring his product. More so just informing non-us customers to wait for local distribution so they can avoid the high prices.
      His product did perform well in this test, and I never expected it to beat a proper ceramic coating. My point is that a true ceramic coating that has been applied and cured properly should always outdo a spray coating, and any videos showing otherwise are probably due to application or curing errors.

      @@sheepstardetail First time watching.....I don't get that. Not to be critical, but I agree with @patrickgagnon9662, just stick to comparing products that claim to be a ceramic spray coatings that gives 6mos to a 1yr of protection and see who comes out on top. True ceramics should be compared with other true ceramics, right? I get that you added a true ceramic that shows what durability should look like, but Jimbo's product still took 2nd place to a true ceramic. How can anyone complain?? Maybe you could've added that you would be adding a true ceramic as a benchmark with a few competitors and Jimbo's would be one of them. Likewise, as was mentioned, I don't recall Jim saying that his product would out perform a true ceramic, I could've missed that point. If you know he did, call him out on it so we all can be informed. What you reviewers are doing whether you like it or not, is informing the rest of us on who is BS 'ing and who has the real deal. I would like it if you kept products on the same playing level. It would be unfair to pit a Corvette, Mustang, or Hellcat with a Tesla, would you agree? • @sheepstardetail
      @sheepstardetail  6 месяцев назад

      Hey! Thanks for watching and commenting. The comparison is between the sprays, Cquartz lite is only there for a reference point. As I showed in the chemical resistance test (and said), I never expected any of the sprays to beat the wipe on coating. My point was to highlight that if a wipe on coating failed in a test like that, I would question the application and cure, not the product itself (which was a point made in other videos - not mine). If a product has a complicated or difficult application, using it poorly, having it fail, and saying it’s bad is unfair to the product. You are supposed to apply the products as the manufacture recommends, and save the criticism for the application. I am not saying that jumbo’s is a bad product, as a matter of fact I have zero issues with it based on the pricing (in the US where it isn’t affected by shipping and border costs).
      There is nothing wrong with a reference point to compare against. Yes, the true comparison is between the 4 sprays, but I have put the wipe on coating in there as well so you can see how much of a gap there is between them all.
