So you've done some of the crafts I've learned in the past. Glass beads, stained glass, and needle felting. But one you haven't tried that you might have fun with is sand art. It's cheap, quick, and harder than you might expect. I'd love to see a video of that in the future
they could also attempt to make their own wax beads from like a block of wax. But im not sure how you can achieve that fine sand like size and texture from a block of wax.
Does anyone remember those clear jelly candles from the 2000s? The ones no one ever lit and they'd sit on your bathroom counter collecting dust, and you had to resist the temptation to stick your finger in it, but you did it anyway and ruined it ;-;. They were also always beach themed lol
do you mean the ones that feel like jello? my sister had like a craft kit about it, she made two candles that were see-through, soft and a little sticky, they were green with tiny rocks inside them
My prom "favor" was a beer mug with one of those candles in it... None of the adults realized beer mugs were a weird, officially sanctioned, party favor
7:33 "We got bamboozled" You really did. Wax beads like that are how normal low cost candles are made. They spray liquid wax in the air as a mist and it cools into the beads. They put the beads in a cylinder mold and crush it with a press to make the candles, Wicks get inserted afterwards. They did the first half of the process, skipped the second, put it in boxes, and sold it to you for $200 with the help of a viral marketing campaign. "How its Made, Candles" shows this type of thing being used. Some are cast with wax, or mechanically dipped wicks, but if you see a cheapie candle with a weird not smooth texture, it was pressed.
Tip for drawing Pentagrams/Pentacles in the future. Just roll up a paper funnel and fill with your sand, salt, wax, fine granual thing. Snip the end to make a small hole and plug it with your finger. Remove finger when ready to draw and keep moving. You'll get a much smoother and consistent result.
i'd love to see a test of how the beads perform when you leave the candles burning for a longer time. like, do the drips of wax collect beneath the orbeez? does the liquid wax eventually sink into the water for the floating candle? how fast do they actually burn?
As someone who doesn't burn candles because I do not trust my clumsy, forgetful ass with them, that safety aspect of these beeds does really appeal to me
If you forget them instead of knocking them over they will burn to the end like any other candle. Most candles just burn out, nothing bad happens. The problem is If the container can't take the heat, this won't save you there, or if something falls partly on the candle (wind moving curtains) not safer there either. If you knock a candle over that usually doesn't go unnoticed and most of the time they will go out. Otherwise just put them up again. The wax that was flowing out was just that, wax, it didn't spread flames everywhere.
If there's one thing I learned from horror novels and spooky RPG sessions, it's that a summoning circle must be _uninterrupted_ or bad things happen. Poor doomed cultists q_q
How they used to do the sand candles; use actual sand, put a glass container in the middle, pour sand around it as desired, put candle stuff only in glass container. That way only the wax in the glass container burns and can be refilled while the rest of the design stays untouched.
You could've tried to do like a beach setting. I imagine the sand as you did in the terrarium one, maybe add a little palm and a miniature deck chair or something like this. Have blue wax be the sea and put the wick into the sea. So that when the candle burns, it basically melts the beads from the sea into one glossy surface, which would distinguish it from the grainy sand. You could also "melt the sea" with a blowtorch to get to that glossy surface
You can get a bag of those wax granules in the craft store for like $8, whoever sold them to you for $200 was ripping you off Edit: Ok so they do know they got scamboozled, good job chat!
Those are paraffin wax which is petroleum based and doesn't fit with sustainability. The company left a reply on their uncut video explaining the reason behind the cost (whether or not you think it's worth the price is one thing but they're not the same product.)
@@TinPrince oh I didn't know they left a reply back then, thank you. Edit: they actually said it's not dropshipped and that they make it from plant based ingredients in Arkansas.
I really like the look of the kitty litter candle, the mixed colours are a features actually unique to this kind of wax, and it looks quite interesting. :)
The highlight of my week is Evan and kaitlin videos, I've only ever been able to catch one stream but love watching the uploads of them, edit it or not. I really admire their relationship and seeing it grow over the years, it makes my heart happy.
If you want to do stuff like the terrarium and have the "plants" nearer to the flame, just pour them with normal wax. 20odd years ago when the last big "make your own candle"craze moved trough we had a lot of fun combining normal wax, this sand wax and the jelly wax that was new then. You have just to be careful to consider different melting points. If you pour jelly wax over sandy stuff it will melt. But we just chucked everything we wanted to enclose in jelly in the freezer first 😊
you can definitely get a very similar product way cheaper online, the tiny beads have been around at least twenty years or so (I had a craft kit with them as a kid) but judging by the colours, the fact you can get them scented and the floating properties of the white I'd say these ones are probably made by their own company as opposed to dropshipped / wholesaled, a cheap vs expensive would be really cool! Also to save some money, doing a soy candle base with a thin layer of bead design on top (example, the terrarium one!) would probably save a LOAD of money if someone wanted to replicate this without spending $200
I wonder what the wax is made of because after looking at the Foton website they don’t actually tell you what’s in it. Instead they just say it’s a natural ingredient that’s biodegradable. Based on that, I wonder if it’s a soy wax that’s just in beaded form. The main negative about it (aside from the price) is that it’ll definitely burn much faster than a normal candle.
When I was a kid we got these scarfs folded over and sown shut and filled with something like orbees. They were so nice to where out when it was hot as heck outside. We bought and used them at the foregrounds and it was so good.
This is not dropshipping, it's wholesale and then they make the boxes basically. But 90% of instagram ads are dropshipping or people wholesale buying and repackaging stuff from aliexpress
May I just say I love your guys' ads they are always so funny and i love how grandma's website was called "Grandma's NOODS" it was priceless (but maybe not 200$ priceless).
the cultist one is a pentacle. a pentagram is where the single point is facing downward, and the two points on top. pentacle is a protection/ representation of the elements and spirit!
@@ApostleOfCats yeah, but theres two different meanings to each star. and on top of that i was just informing the people who dont know the meaning behind the symbols
@@ApostleOfCats actually the main difference is the circle around it if im not mistaken. the star on its own is a pentagram and the star inside a circle is a pentacle
Idea for the floating one : after adding the flowers, add transparent orbeez, then a round piece of 1/8 clear plexi on top. Then pour the wax. The orbeez are going to give stability for the plexi and eliminate the uneven deviding line that you had with the aquarium 🤷🏼♀️
This concept is an old one. There were beaded wax "candles" back in the early 1970's, but the beads were closer to the size of bird seed. It would be interesting to find out how those sand-sized beads are produced.
When different scents are layered, the smell changes as it goes- though still best to have complementary scents next to each other so that when the layers do melt into each other before the first layer evaporates it still smells good
This reminds me of a shell candle kit I got as a Christmas present back in the 70s. Baby conch shells with short wicks on a metal tab, with various color wax sandlike beads. Everything old is new again.
Well I know the aquarium one would start releasing toxic fumes if the orbeez don't expand and make the wick fall out, even while burning. Not a good idea.

Wax, like oil, is less dense than water. Melting it does not significantly change the density, it will float on top of the water even if fully liquid.
As someone who doesn't burn candles because I do not trust my clumsy, forgetful ass with them, that safety aspect of these beeds does really appeal to me

I'd assume using the dipping dots method it could easily work out ("easily" being debatable)
