At approximately 4:27, you stated that both Chuck and John Panozzo have passed away. This is Not the case, Chuck is still alive! He is semi-retired from playing and touring due to his illnesses, but he is still ALIVE.
I’ve been a Styx fan since their inception. Tommy explains that it’s like a marriage, we have these kids that we made together, which are their songs, it’s a good analogy, but if you ask me, they did him wrong, they didn’t want to wait for him to recover from his ailments, and they saw it as a chance to become the owners of STYX “we’re going to do things our way, the way we’ve always wanted”, they didn’t like the fact that Dennis was a major creative force, and even though he never said I’M the leader, they saw it as a chance to take control of the brand and keep STYX all to themselves, which is exactly what happened! That McGowen guy, I don’t even know his first name, yeah he plays keys, but he doesn’t do ANY JUSTICE to the songs that belong to Dennis, and the fact that he’s been in this band for all these years just tells me he is nothing more than a “yes man” replacement!
Some friends bought me a pair of tickets several years ago as a thank you for some work I had done for them because they knew I liked Styx. What they didn't know is that I like Styx because I like Dennis DeYoung. It was a good show and Tommy's voice sounded great. Ironically, the performed "Kilroy" as an encore - LOL. I think that Tommy is a fine musician and good song-writer; however, he wasn't a founding member; in fact, JY is the only remaining founding member. Like Neal Schon and Jonathan Cain of Journey, JY and Tommy have treated their lead singer and song writer very poorly. Too many alpha males. It is really too bad that Tommy and JY cannot put aside their egos and, as Dennis has said, do a final tour for the fans.... while the musicians are still physically able to.
It's said egos whatever but Tommy was in a few awesome bands as well... Dennis is Dennis!!! And he and his family are awesome!!! To completely different animals!!!
Tommy’s best strength was the acoustic guitar and he was a country picker and I am diving the favorites with singles first 1) Come Sail Away 2) Renegade 3) The Best of Times 4) Fooling Yourself 5) Don’t Let It End 6) Blue Collar Man 7) Mr Roboto 8) Borrowed Time 9) Boat On The River 10) Too Much Time on My Hands Album Tracks : 1) Castle Walls 2) Love In The Midnight 3) Half Penny Two Penny/AD 1958 4) Born For Adventure 5) Sing For The Day 6) Snowblind 7) Homewrecker 8) Midnight Ride 9) Just Get Through This Night 10) Man In The Wilderness
I have been a Styx fan since 1977. I went to see them every time they swung around up until 2003 when I became 100% sick of T.S. and J.Y. I am a big fan of Gowan's solo work, but I will never send another penny to the Tommy Shaw Styx Tribute Band. That story about DDY being ill and the other bunch going on tour to make money is not news. That is what fans that were following the band knew was going on right at the time because DDY revealed the story in interviews in real time. For myself personally, the first tour with Gowan in 1999 was exceptional. Gowan stole the show. The following tours, I noticed a marked change. It was like Gowan had been sidelined and was told to tone it down because it was suddenly the Tommy Shaw show. I saw how "Styx" tried to erase DDY from their history on their website and often spoke bitterly against him. In sharp contrast, I also noted that DDY NEVER spoke negatively about the other camp. That is why I decided I was done with the Tommy Shaw Styx Tribute Band. They are an ungrateful bunch who wouldn't even be where they are if it wasn't for DDY. I have seen DDY with his solo band tons of times now, and they are fantastic and super nice people! I hope DDY hits the road again for one final farewell tour because that I would go see.

Thanks for the great content
What Dennis should have done was a "Pieces Of Eight Anniversary Tour". He never did and that hurt his pocketbook. I told him when the Star Theatre was about to be torn down. He just didn't say much about it. Oh well!@thestevechampagneradioshow7294
I am a true Styx fan and I love their entire catalog and I refuse to choose sides. It’s sad because I see a very divided and fractured Fan base which could keep them out of the rock ‘n’ roll Hall of Fame. Which is ridiculous they belong. Styx is my all-time favorite rock band and it’s not even close. Trying to choose my 10 favorite Styx songs is like trying to pick my favorite children I can’t do it. I will say that man in the wilderness is my favorite song of all time not just favorite STYX song.
No matter what any album that has the input from every member of any band I would think would be a challenge to replace the same results as a successful project as they have I know Styx has not produced any music ( I may be wrong) lately or since they broke up that I am aware of, if there is new music I believe my point is made.
i think deyoung's point was his love for the fans and his fellow musicians no matter what they have said about him or his music. there are 2 sides to every story except this on where there are 4 three by the ever changing styx camp and one by deyoung who has never changed his story. chuck is not dead.
I haven't watched the interview yet but I will but I think the break up of Styx swas about human relationships and how so many fall apart after a while because people just can't iron out their differences. Someone in a relationship does something abusive.
Sounds like DeYoung is a bitter person. I know this band personally. My cousins were and are still in the band . By the way only one Panozzo brother has passed away not both. #Fact
Dennis was not the only one that was sick. Chuck was sick too. But they replaced Chuck and Chuck was okay with it. DENNIS took them court. JY was battling DDY through it all and finally settled. Maybe, just MAYBE if DDY hadn't been a Dick about it, they would have had him come back. If you go through JYs interviews you'll learn more than what is being told. Yes I liked DDY throughout STYX, BUT I LOVE Lawrence. And they All get along WONDERFULLY now. And I am a HUGE JY FAN. From The first Note he sang Movement For The Common Man, I was HOOKED. ✌️🤘
I used to think I couldn't see them in concert without DDY until I watched Behind The Music. DDY is a control freak. If you can find it on RUclips watch it, it might put a whole new light on things
@@kellyt12463 Wrong. They talked to Tommy twice. Go watch it again. In some clips Tommy has a goatee and in others he does not. They talked to Tommy first, went to Dennis to hear his rebuttal and then went back to Tommy so they could spin Dennis in the worst possible light.
No Dennis. No Styx.
If you going to tell us what Dennis said tell us in the first minute of your show.

They haven't charted since Dennis left. Without him they are basically a tribute band playing casinos and fairs.

Dennis singlehandedly attempted to destroy the band.....much like Perry did to Journey......not nearly as consistent vocally as Gowan is.....
Dennis Deyoung said nothing.
Are you just making stuff up? Have you ever even seen Styx play live.... at all?
Yes Actually Worked Audio For Tommy Shaw Once
Give it up Dennis!
Mr. Roboto is just awful.
Great songwriting but Dennis is an arrogant……. Watch an interview with him and you can tell what kind of person he is.
