I started with the Beatles days and saw this in HIGH School in 77. After 45 years of concerts, I can honestly say this song is as good or equal to Bohemian R. Fools Overture, and Kashmir! Dennis's singing is equal to Robert Plant and Roger Daltrey. Zep almost hypnotized me with Kashmir

Best Styx song ever . If this doesn’t give you goosebumps I don’t know what will. Thank you Dennis and Styx for providing this and so many treasured songs from our youth in the 70s and 80s. Can’t imagine growing up without songs like this and so many others . Wish you guys would get it together one last time! Clocks are ticking for all of us.

My fave Styx song ever and of all time. Record companies routinely miss songs like this because they are looking for soundbites. Music lovers are looking for...this. Dennis, you are absolutely amazing to this day. That song is not easy to sing or to create or to play. Musicians are killer.

To be at 67 the one that holds and sets the standard for quality and style of the rock stage - that speaks for itself! An amazing musician and by all appearances a wonderful person!

For me, this is one of the best STYX songs ever. When I bought their first album for A&M Records, "Equinox", in 1975, I put - with shivering hands - the record on the player and was totally impressed by the perfect quality of that gem. From start to end. It's the last song on this, their fifth album, and "Suite Madame Blue" is the perfect final track.
DeYOUNG's vocal performance is still the same as on the album from 1975 and unbroken - He also hits the point in the very high notes - unbelievable for that age.
The performance of the band was perfect - he must be a perfectionist. And it sounds as on the original studio release from 1975. PERFECT SHOW!
And hats off to this musician.

I saw Van Halen OPEN for Eddie Money, Steve Miller Band, and Kansas. The memories...lol... I still remember Geddy Lee saying this is off our new album called Fly By Night... On and on I could go. Uriah Heep, Deep Purple, Jethro Tull, Guess Who... I better stop. Of course saw Kiss many times

Gads...A&M is like Epic Records: forget the real music, just filter the "apply, lather, rinse, repeat" stuff onto the charts, leave the real stuff out. That's how Epic killed Cheap Trick. Don't get me wrong, all of Styx's stuff was great...but this stands out. This is musicianship...the stuff that makes you think. This is what we need, to Hell with Eminem, Beyonce, all that other swill they call 'music' today. Real music died as soon as Nirvana debuted. Long Live Real Rock! Long Live Dennis DeYoung!

To quote what someone mentioned earlier, "DeYoung WAS Styx!" Their existence since expelling him from the band - whether warranted or not - was the beginning of their slide downward. Dennis is a perfectionist, as is obvious by his choice of superior musicians in HIS band.
As for Styx today?...they sound horrible!? Compare the two versions of SMB from THIS version to a live performance by Styx (1 year later), and you just want to leave the latter's concert. And if hearing the butchered lead by Dennis' replacement hurts your ears - like it did mine - skip to timestamp 1:55 where the vocal harmonies just make you want to cringe:

DDY is the only schooled musician from the original line-up. (I think Gowan and Sucherman are.) He was the musical director of Styx by default for he knew the most. Shaw came in 13 years after they formed. DDY is Styx!
