Wow great video you did a great job this answered so many of my questions on this rifle and the compare to the sar 556 was exactly the video I was looking for I’m super interested in this model love my fde tavor sar
I love my Tavor 7. It's a fantastic rifle. My only complaint is it's hard to find a good flashlight option for mounting that works. I'd prefer a tailcap switch but your available rail section is so small it makes it difficult. A tapeswitch wouldn't be bad either but there's not very many locations to place one. Although on the front right section of the Magwell I did need to file a little bit to remove a hotspot that bothered my wrist. Just about 10 seconds with a hand file was all that was needed.
On they SAR, I use a tape-switch on the thumb side of the handguard. The fore-end is M-LOK and the Magupul M-LOK 5-Slot pic rail fits perfectly (I chose the aluminum one).
@@HammerStriker Yay I can't stand just taping tape switches on, I know it's weird. I tried a few different setups with streamlight tape switches and mounts. I prefer just using the tail caps. But can't get a mount that moves it forward enough. I might try a Inforce WML.
Another excellent review. I really like the Tavor 7. A nice design but definitely not a budget gun. Looking at the buttplate I’d be curious as to whether it slid around on your shoulder when firing. You would probably need to add a two-stage trigger to improve accuracy if it’s like the SAR. Unfortunately mom won’t let me buy any more guns unless I get rid of some. Such is life in the big city. Thanks for sharing and have a great day.
The butpad is well textured and stays put, once its in the sholder. However having a slight outward curve at the top would make it a little bit better if for some reason you loosen it up a little bit on your shoulder or have trouble getting good cheek weld. So a curve like the X95 manticore butpad has worked be nice. Although despite what people may say the butpad is definitely not necessary for recoil. It probably has one of the mildest recoil Impulses of any semi automatic 7.62 nato rifle I've ever shot.
Thank you. It does not move at all, there is just enough texture on it to stay put. The trigger is actually quite nice compared to the first Tavor, though if Timney does make a trigger it will catch my interest.
The Tavor 7 compared to the SAR is no comparison. They look a bit similar, but that's as far it goes. 5.56 vs 7.62? Maybe comparing it to an X95 would be more appropriate if you are looking at the features, because the Tavor 7 features with respect to controls etc., takes it's que from the X95, NOT the SAR. The best thing about the SAR is the style of the cutlass grip. I don't see any reason that grip could not have been used on the X95 and Tavor 7. That grip accepts a nice bi pod attachment that would be great on ALL these models. The missing BUS on the Tavor is a pisser too, it should have got the X95 rail with built in BUS. Whiners on accuracy need to read the manual. Both of these weapons are built to military spec; 3moa. You can do better with good ammo, optics, and skill. Both the X95 and the Tavor 7 are close quarter weapons, with the Tavor 7 being able to reach out beyond the normal CQB distances, but it is not a precision long range weapon. I own both the X95 and Tavor 7, they are great rifles.
@@HammerStriker I just wish it had a slight outward curve at the top, like the manticore arms X95 put pad. I think it would help with cheeking and stability. But as for recoil mitigation it's fine as is.
The best of the three is undoubtedly the X95. (ironically not included in this vid) It's the best LOOKING hands-down, and has a winning combo of the better features from both of these models. However, I'd still love a 7 simply for the .308 value.
Thanks and Blessings! I sure would like to have a 7.62 NATO, but the cost of ammo, I don't think I'd get to shoot it as much as I'd like. Sure looks good though!
Excellent video on the two Tavor rifle types! I was wondering if anyone could tell me where the front and rear sling swivels for a 5.56/223 Tavor TAR could be purchased? Would sure like to get a pair of those....
What are the weight differences? I didn't hear that stated. Have they come out with any butt stock paddings for the Tavor 7? It looks like they have a swappable buttstock. I have no meat on my shoulders so even my M4 with 5.56 hurts and bruises my shoulder/collar bone.
What is the accuracy like on this? I read a lot about people being ok with the less than perfect accuracy in the x95 which I’m not willing to deal with.
I put an ATN 4k digital day/night scope on it just before the SHTF and have not been able to get it out to zero/test but plan to. The 5.56 version is my hog gun and with the ATN X-Sight II on it I am deciding left eye or right eye at 200 yds in the dark when hunting hogs. These are not intended to be sub-MOA sniper rifles but if the '7 is anywhere near as good as my 5.56 then I will be happy.
The original tavor sar (tan one here) is accurate compared to the x95, like 1.5-2 moa accuracy is what I get at 100 yards on a bad range trip. With the 7, I've gotten 1-1.5 moa with 147 grain m80 ball, none of that match ammo stuff. The twist rate is meant for standard 147 grain military surplus style ammo
1 lb difference, & almost twice the power. T7 gets my vote. I own 1. One caviat. Won't shoot Tula or Wolf steel. Odd. Hopefully they'll make a longer firing pin or something to allow cheaper ammo to be used in it.
Second Post ISSUES not said by the gun industry with the Tavor 7 : ( 1. *It is heavy* at 9 lbs. (most hunting rifles are about 6.5 lbs) 2. *Not the best accuracy* about 4 MOA. 3. Really *hard changing handle pull* on some. Odd. There are other issues but you get it so *WARNING* - please test the Tavor 7 before you buy.
I really want the Sar but finding a conversion kit is near impossible. The Tavor 7 looks better than the x95 and I’m sold just on the fact that the bolt is ambidextrous.
@@jackomalley3687 LMAO. yeah, sorry. You're wrong. I like how rather than answering the question, you deflected it into an ad hominem attack. If you're going to call people idiots by the way, you should probably work on your spelling and punctuation. 7.62x51 is superior to 5.56 in all ways except weight. It is often faster, hits harder, has more penetration, is more accurate, and does more damage. It's well known for turning cover into concealment. It's a fantastic combat round.
aThe tavor 7 is ment to replace the mk 14 socom, and the scar h as the IDF main dmr. while the x95 is replacing the M4 and M16 as IDF main assault rifle. So think like this 5.56 for the infantry, and your .308 for the squad Designated Marksman kinda like how the USA does there units.
I'm a simple man. I see a Tevor in the thumbnail, I click on it.
See Tavor - Want Tavor!
Thank you for this video. Helped me understand the difference between SAR and x95x
They need to make the Tavor 7 version in 5.56.
I would buy that in a heartbeat and honestly am going to hold out for one. 🤞
Havent bought an X95 because it is inferior to SAR in ways the T7 isn’t. I hope they realize the superior design and make it in 556.
My only gripe with the tavor 7 is the omission of iron sights. The flip out sights on the original were a nice feature.
very good video, with excellent comparison on both firearms.

Thank you. The Tavor 7 works as smoothly as the 5.56 version and actually has a nice trigger from the factory.
Great video. I own the original Tavor. Love it.
Thank you. You would like this one as well, all the nice things of the original and a few more.
With the exception of the rear mag release, I agree with all modifications IWI made. I wish they had kept both magazine release buttons like the MDRX.

Are you sure the 45 degree rail on the sar is polymer? Mine feels very metalic
Mine was one of the very first ones made and it is polymer though I don't know if that changed as they evolved.
I hate that the tavor 7 looks so much like the original tavor, just UGLY, I hope they revamp the body style in a few years on par with the x95

WHICH IS THE TAVOR IWI TAVOR 7 OR TAVOR 5.56
So I just got a 7 and I was wondering if anyone had the info for aftermarket parts. Foregrip or trigger or anything. Happy Thanksgiving yall
Hey there thanks for the video ! Are the top rails the same length and therefore interchangeable ? Thank you.
Unfortunately there is no parts interchangeability between these two rifles.

Americans had their way we'd still be using the heel release on pistols. And Im an American. I personally prefer a flap release for magazines.

X95 is Better 👌

I NEED a 7 night optics and a silencer for hog hunting.
I don't see the point of a rifle that is only combat accurate and if this is for close quarters 5.56 is better.
