The German units on the southern flank during the Kursk offensive literally praised the Red Army resistance. They reported they had to clear the Soviet trenches in a fierce hand to hand combat with high casualties on both sides. The intercepted Soviet radio messages forbade any retreat thus the brutality in the trenches.

Dear Flawless War Gamer, THANK Y❤️U for educating us on the horror of modern warfare. This is the BEST account of the Battle of Kursk. The realism, the sequence of events and bloody nature of war is exposed in your video. Horrific and a step in to reality of how war is. Your video provides far more information to the viewer than those documentaries or old black and white film footage. Your video is THE REAL DEAL AND TEACHES US THIS IS WHAT WARFARE WAS AND IS TODAY. THANK Y❤️U.
The shot at 07:10 is amazingly done. Very cinematic, plus the ambient noises of the tank tracks in the background and the music. Right now i don't remember the last time i witnessed something like this in a hollywood production. Fantastic job!
I can't speak for everyone, but in my experiences with rocket and artillery attacks, I don't remember actually thinking of anything. I remember repeating the word shit, over and over again.
its actually completely wrong, the scenario with the artillery barrage is absolutely BS. The Soviets were the ones actually giving the artillery barrage first, the explosions and earthquakes from the artillery should be from the Soviets on the Germans, it should be the Germans being crushed by the strikes.
Excellent work, this corresponds exactly with what the German and Soviet veterans told me what actually happened back in the 70s, 80’s and 90s. You’ve made a genuine contribution to history with this film short. Thank you.
One thing I liked is when I noticed that sum Russians had the ppsh with a drum and others had it with a clip, bc in almost every movie I've seen that shows the Russian army during WW2 they almost always all hav the drum when that wasn't the case at all. It's the little details like that that are the difference between a good historically based machinima video and a great one.
Another masterpiece by flawless wargamer. I love the little details you put in your work, like the soviet soldier cowering under heavy bombardment and the way the tanks drove over the trenches. Amazing cinematography and tension
@@arhivskm8750 Yes, the Germans didn´t report any significant damage due to the pre-battle barrage on 5/7/43. The diaries of many units reported this as a minor event w/small to zero effect. It´s all a product of the Soviet historiography. Generally speaking, the worst casualties the Germans had AFTER the commencement of the whole offensive were caused by the Soviet artillery in the north - referred to as a ´wall of artillery´ as well as in the southernmost sector. There the German units had to build bridges for tanks under the Soviet artillery fire + lacked initially any tank support; only the 320th Infantry division had 1200+ casualties on 5/7/1943.
Mashima is an art, but this is beyond art. I would love to see you direct a war movie with real actors and a good budget, that would be better than 90% of today's movies, actually ,this movie you've made is better than modern war movies.

fun fact: an Red Army armoured train was also involved providing fire support from the rail-head. Apparently it did good work. He main feature of this battle was the deep layered defences that robbed all momuentum form the Blitz and just made it a normal Krieg. there was a pretty big air battle for the first two days that was inconclusive for either side but quite a few aircraft where shot down on both sides. massive dust storms kicked up by the huge amounts of tanks and artillery made air support useless on the fateful day where the two massive tank forces met AND it wasnlt even supposed to happen! the dust was so think they literally couldn't see shit and before they knew it the tanks were practically on top of each other.

It was a nice touch to put inspired by the actual historical event, that way you dont get as many douchebags saying its not historically accurate bc they expect it to be perfect and dont just enjoy how entertaining and amazing videos like yours are.
It was filmed very well despite the fact that it is Arma 3. History is cyclical, 80 years and events repeated themselves. Tanks with crosses again went to the defensive positions of the Russian army. The Battle of Kursk was a turning point; Germany could no longer muster such resources for offensive attacks.
Dude! We have to put more respect to these guy's that knows how to make animation in Arma 3! it's so hard to make it! ( I love this Short Film By the way ) :)
The difficulty in depicting the battle of Kursk lies in its immensity. The great number of forces and geography the battle was fought over are difficult to comprehend. But the significance of Kursk would be near impossible to depict. That being the realization by the SS of the Soviets having reached parity to deny the most powerful of German forces to project the force of their power. Furthermore, the realization that parity would soon be lost with the rapidly increasing ability of the Red Army to project its overwhelming power on the decreasing capacity of the German to match them, too is difficult to portray cinematically.

The opening is a bit ironic, the Soviets actually caught the German staging areas off guard with an artillery barrage just before the start of battle.
That´s a widespread myth. I refer to Dr. Toeppel´s book about Kursk offensive based on wartime diaries of German units.
The Soviets knew exactly where the Germans were going to attack. It is no myth, look into David Glantz or Robert Citino for references.
