I've had my FZ-07 for 6 years now and it's been a great commuter/city bike. Couple minor upgrades (bar end mirrors, -1F +1R sprockets, R6 throttle tube) are all you really need.
@@deemspring The amount you need to turn the stock throttle tube from 0 to wide open is something like 130° compared to around 85° on the R6 tube. Having to reposition your hand mid-throttle or bringing your arm below the bar is just really inconvenient and uncomfortable. I call it my "poor man's Ducati" , but like you said the fz/mt07 is by far an amazing and capable city environment bike!
Excellent and fair review. I ride mine mostly in rural areas with country roads and highways. The suspension is the weak link. I spent a bit over a grand on mine and it's a much more enjoyable ride at all speeds. It doesn't have enough power or the aerodynamics to stay up with an modern inline 4 600 above 100 mph. However it's quick enough in the quarter mile to beat most stock muscle cars of the 60's. The engine was unique in it's design. Now it's the target for Honda, Suzuki and KTM. Especially in the flat track racing. I'm an old geezer, not a racer or a stunt rider. I wanted a bike that was fun to ride and low maintenance. Lots of bikes could fit that role. I want something that suits my needs. I'm an experienced rider but it had been almost 15 years since I rode. I have almost 26k on my 2015 FZ07, it's ready for it's first valve adjustment. It runs just fine. 26 k on the original spark plugs. Much cheaper to insure because it doesn't have all that plastic. It's got a solid resale market as well, it has been one of the best selling motorcycles (pre covid) since 2014. Lots of parts are available and will remain that way for a long time. It's quick enough to get you in trouble but not fast enough to hang with the sport bikes that cruise at 140 mph.
Lol! Heat from "0-Panigale", as a V4 owner I can confirm, the struggle is real. However, the steed of satan under you is great starting in October through the winter.
100% agree. Perfect city bike and perfect amount of power to rip around town. If I want to go faster and on the highways I take my r6 as it more comfortable with the wind protection

Yeah the the mt07 Is seriously perfect for the city. If I had to nit pick I don't know what I'd complain about. For highway or track I'd like stronger brakes and a firmer suspension but were talking about city.. so hmmm its Perfect!
I just bought the 2021 MT-07 and I am very much enjoying it. It is fun, quick, and nimble. The seat is garbage and I can't find tank grips to match for assistance with my knees to hold on. Being a bigger guy 250 lbs., it can still handle my weight locally. This bike has the best money to CC ratio in my option. I wish I could get mods for it unfortunately the waiting list is stupid (some 6 months plus). I have a tuner that is going to play with it in a week or two, so we will see if we can get some more torque out of it since I won't need the top end. The wind hits me like a ping-pong ball around the road. I think I might upgrade the brakes possibility. Feels kind of soft in my option. I live in the Orlando/Melbourne FL area. Overall I am pleased with my purchase, but dang it if there is an update to the MT-10 in 2022. Hmm, I may have to sell a kidney.
OC Chase I’d really like to see you make a review in the city for one of the Buell Xb bikes since they are making a come back and since they advertised them as urban bikes
I am traveling to and from work every day with MT07, city driving often requires stopping and waiting at traffic lights and intersections. One bad thing I noticed in a year of riding this motorcycle around town is the heating of the machine, the fan on the cooler turns on after 100 degrees Celsius and while I wait for the green light it heats up a lot which is not pleasant in summer. What I’ve seen many do is reprograming the ecu to get the fan on at 90 degrees. I think the factory should have been set up that way already. What I'm not happy about yet is that the engine in city driving runs at such a high temperature (100 ° C +)
Because the stability on fast roads was so bad with the MT07, and I loved the engine so much, after my bike was stolen, I got a Tracer 700. Most of the playfulness disappeared. But, overtaking trucks in crosswinds wasn't utterly terrifying. The MT07 isn't a 50/50 balanced bike; it's also very light which, in town, is fabulous. On bad days on motorways, however, it's a nightmare. Once, with very strong winds, I could only do 30mph to keep control of the bike. Being overtaken by everything still makes me wake up screaming at night. It's a great bike with serious limitations.
Ride mine downtown St Pete and Tampa with absolutely no issues whatsoever. It’s maneuverable in traffic and with just the right amount of power to zip around everything.
I have a 30 min commute. I can take the highway, or surface streets and its similar times since the highway route is less direct. In any car, I take the highway, on my drz, I take the surface streets due to it being not fun over 70mph for too long. I got a 2021 MT07 and figured I would take the highway with that. I have, it does 80-85 all day easy. But it is soo much fun in the city. I take surface streets on both bikes now. Torque and wheelies are a blast to play with.

I would have to agree, best city bike. I have ridden my friends sport bikes and the harsh suspension, lack of torque, super long gearing and uncomfortable seating position make it not fun in the city. I have had my FZ07 for almost 6 years.
OC: Hands down the MT07 is the best city bike. So much so that the nitpicky stuff like soft suspension and okay brakes are actually good. Considering you won't be going fast and depending where you live the roads could be utter shit like in downtown Atlanta. In my opinion the MT07 is the perfect bike for the cost. A few mods such as windscreen takes care of the highway wind issues. Then the obvious mods like fender eliminator and maybe a up and down quick shifter. Then you have an incredible bike for less then the cost of say the new R7 which Yamaha is pushing as a great all round sportbike.
The torque in low revs (like 2-3k) come in very handy in the city. An automatic scooter is still going to be more comfortable without all the gear changes, but not t as fun.
I wish the FZ-07/MT-07 existed 25 years ago. Back then, my only options were the Kawasaki Ninja 500 or the Suzuki GS500. Perfect city bikes but no fun at all. You could buy a supersport but back then, they were really heavy.
OC: The mt07s a perfect city bike which is what makes it so bad at twities and fun spirited riding so the z650 and mt07 are great in city, not so god in the twisties where as the gsxs 750, cb650r, tuono660 are much better at twisties but slightly compromise in the city with a stiffer but rewarding setup
OC: I live in DFW and have a '20 model. Some of the roads are straight garbage and the soft suspension is actually low-key a good thing for it. Not exactly confidence inspiring in the corners when I'm riding with my friend who has a '13 Street Triple, but I just love the character of the bike. Toce exhaust makes it sound orgasmic too lol
You are correct sir. I have a 2019 MT-07 that I bought new and put a yosimura r-77 exhaust, DNA stage 2 filter and a tune few other bits and bobs. I couldn't ask for a better bike. I think my Husqvarna smr450 supermoto might be more fun.. but I don't ride it as much as the MT-07 do to maintenance 😕.
OC: Don't you just love this Atlanta traffic. One of the reasons I am moving down south. I do like how the bike handled that downtown traffic however I don't think it's good for me since I will be riding the interstate for about an hour to get downtown (when needed)
I recently bought an MT-03 2020. I'm new rider and this is my first bike, (almost a year) as soon as i can i will buy an MT-07. So the only thing that makes me tired, is the highway. I commute daily around 40 minutes to get to my work. My route consists 20-30 minutes of highway, so i guess the first thing i ll do on my next bike is to add an MRA windshield

Perfect wheelie bike that's why I bought a 2020 mt07, but its no supermoto gotta quit saying its like a supermoto. Love my supermoto but nothing make me think the mt is like it
OC: Just a little word from a bloody beginner. And when I say that, I mean it. Living in the center of europe never having ridden a "real" bike ( I don't count the single gear 20-ish mph chainsaws real bikes 😂) The torque is amazing. It is scary at times, because as a beginner (got my license and bike a month ago) you still have to process what limb has to do what. And the MT-07 has the urge to just jump. Into corners, into wheelies, into speed. So that makes it scary at times when you still need to learn the basics. But to be honest, I am limited to 47 - 48 hp and about as many footpounds. And that almost one to one ratio makes it super smooth to rev up once you are in gear. Having said that, I am stil Parkinglotjousting for the most part, because I still need to think too much about my bodymovement, instead of traffic, so I am slowly increasing the distance on the road to get comfy, but for what I have learned so far on this bike- gosh is it a ton of fun. Can't wait to have all the controlls down and ready and finally get going for real. But slow and steady wins the race. So if interest is around, gonna update once I am out on the road. Tl;dr: super fun bike, super torquey, sometimes a bit scary, but that is for me to get comfy with as a beginner 😁👍🤘
Chase you said at the beginning of the video that Yamaha has lent you the bike for "quite a while" later you said you haven't had it long enough to get used to the throttle to get comfortable with it. I argue that with your extensive riding experience you would get used to the throttle fairly quick. I would like to see someone who has never ridden the MT-07 ride it for the first time an then judge the throttle.
At first I thought the same but eventually learned to keep my leg out of the way. Always leaving my right foot up helps but did still take a little getting used to.
Sorry, but you're wrong. If you mostly ride in the city why do you need a 700cc bike that does 220 Km/h? The ideal bike for the city is the MT-03 it weighs 16 kilos less than the MT-07 it's far more nimble it's very quick and has good torque and if you need to go out on the highway it can reach highway speeds of about 160 Km/h. But I know you're plugging the MT-07 which I do have.
If u ride in a city all u need isa Honda Grom. 125 cc is plenty power and fun bike to ride. I own a from and mt07 Grom is better for inner city riding. 80 mpg!!!!!
OC : So you’ve done a review for the highway and city for both the MT-07 and R7, if you lived in a city with a pretty good amount of highways, like Henderson/Las Vegas where I live, which would you choose if you could only have one?
The MT07 is okay, but for a city bike, it's like an overgrown scooter. If you prefer a scooter, the MT07 fits your bill. A better city bike is the simple Z900, very comfortable, agile naked bike. Engine is very smooth in all ranges, and when needed, all 4 cylinders of its 948cc will move you out of harm's way in a quite and calm exhaust fashion; no loud exhaust screaming required.
Yamaha needs to fix the styling of their XSR700 because this is the perfect engine, but MT looks too sharp, and XSR doesn't hit the retro spot just yet. The new Kawasaki RS650 would be perfect, but the engine sucks.
@@tilled6695 if you look at motonositys review on the R7 the chases, chase said he would have the R7 over an R6 as you don't need that much power but rides an MT-10

Well one of them atleast along with the MT-10 and Honda 650r
Those roads are amazing compared to the crap we have to deal with in the Detroit Metro
Hey bro I’m in Dfw more Dallas are. Where do y’all ride?? I’m close to north park
Best thing I did to my MT-07 was put bar end mirrors on it. I have wider shoulders and couldn’t see crap out of the stock mirrors.
Bought one 2 Days ago, getting it this week. Very excited. Might follow Dave Moss's fork mod.
Dude please update if you do, im buying a 07 soon and im thinking about doing the mod as well.
@@patronhylster 9 months later, no mod. Sorry to let you down.
been checking upgrades for the suspension and the cheaper parts i found are about $1000 for the bitubo front forks and k-tech rear shock plus install.
We need an MT09 playlist
I recently bought an MT-03 2020. I'm new rider and this is my first bike, (almost a year) as soon as i can i will buy an MT-07. So the only thing that makes me tired, is the highway. I commute daily around 40 minutes to get to my work. My route consists 20-30 minutes of highway, so i guess the first thing i ll do on my next bike is to add an MRA windshield
Why dont you buy a puig or givi windshield for your mt 03?
@@mtthunder7 because in no more than 4-5 months i plan to upgrade. So ideally i would not like to spend any more money on my mt 03, since am going to sell it
Love the MT-07 for tooling around town! OC!!
I feel like this guy is a yamaha fan XD love ur vids bruh
I would love to see a vid about the mt07 on the highway with a tall windscreen
idk what he's on about with being pushed around, i own a 21 mt07 and it feels planted at 20mph and higher, the only thing that sucks is the wind blast from having no windscreen but you get used to it after a while
If you like this you should try the XSR lineup... I would argue that the XSR900 is the best bike to ride on the street
Perfect wheelie bike that's why I bought a 2020 mt07, but its no supermoto gotta quit saying its like a supermoto. Love my supermoto but nothing make me think the mt is like it
Oc Suspension is garbage but its a perfect bike for city and some highway
need a pair of inverted front fork suspension on the mt 07 and I'm sold.
I would do the R6 throttle mod and -1 front sprocket for my MT07
OC: Just a little word from a bloody beginner. And when I say that, I mean it. Living in the center of europe never having ridden a "real" bike ( I don't count the single gear 20-ish mph chainsaws real bikes 😂)
The torque is amazing.
This better than Mt 03 as first bike?
I have an MT07 and its the perfect bike for me
I love my MT07!!! Slap an Akrapovic Carbon on it and a tail tidy and I get complimented all the time!!! Highway though, fuhgettaboutit!!!
nlg i just chuckled when you said ATL was a big city.
Is it not?
Chase you said at the beginning of the video that Yamaha has lent you the bike for "quite a while" later you said you haven't had it long enough to get used to the throttle to get comfortable with it. I argue that with your extensive riding experience you would get used to the throttle fairly quick. I would like to see someone who has never ridden the MT-07 ride it for the first time an then judge the throttle.
"Nice suit.....you are a unique individual 😂
Great review. have you ever ridden the GSX S750. They are still on sale..
This was actually pretty helpful
I love the MT-07. Only thing I noticed was that the foot peg digs into my leg when I put my leg down. I guess I have an awkward leg position?
At first I thought the same but eventually learned to keep my leg out of the way. Always leaving my right foot up helps but did still take a little getting used to.
@@JJPelszynski ended up with a a different bike ahaha. An MT-07 is definitely still on the cards however.
Not sure if I want the r7 or the mt07 as my beginner bike. Let me know any recommendations. City but also something that’s good on the highway
what system are you using for your audio? its clean!!
Any ideas which exhaust sounds good on this one? The Mivv ones sound like the standard one.
I kept waiting for these "bad roads" lol
I think it comes down to how many different bikes you want vs do you get 1 bike that can do most of the things you want to do
how did you get these camera angles and why is no one talking about how god they are
It's almost like there's Chase vehicle, or did you think his name was Chase ?
Sorry, but you're wrong. If you mostly ride in the city why do you need a 700cc bike that does 220 Km/h? The ideal bike for the city is the MT-03 it weighs 16 kilos less than the MT-07 it's far more nimble it's very quick and has good torque and if you need to go out on the highway it can reach highway speeds of about 160 Km/h. But I know you're plugging the MT-07 which I do have.
i think i am the only person out there who digs the stock mirrors. lol
I'd the front end still suspect? On the 2021 model
I was interested in the MT07 but it seem to tall for me and a bit wider. I went with the Z650 as I felt more comfortable, as it fits shorter riders
how tall are you?
@@vissla8084 5’5 with a 30” inseam. I sat on a MT07 but didn’t have full confidence compared to a Z650 when I was looking at bikes.
@@XxTRUEPINOYxX14 according to google the mto7 is barely an inch taller
@@XxTRUEPINOYxX14 Nice! How are you liking it so far?
Can you do a city riding video on the z650?
My Favorite new bike under 800cc
OC: Try riding highway on a DR650 at 365lbs wet! :)
So he risks wheelies but sits in traffic, makes no sense. Rides it like it's got 4 wheels
Great bike 👍
If u ride in a city all u need isa Honda Grom.
125 cc is plenty power and fun bike to ride.
I own a from and mt07
Grom is better for inner city riding.
80 mpg!!!!!
OC : So you’ve done a review for the highway and city for both the MT-07 and R7, if you lived in a city with a pretty good amount of highways, like Henderson/Las Vegas where I live, which would you choose if you could only have one?
That isn't a TON of info for your situation but based on what you say Im going with an MT07 and a wind screen.
I'd go with the SU-35 personally
The MT07 is okay, but for a city bike, it's like an overgrown scooter. If you prefer a scooter, the MT07 fits your bill. A better city bike is the simple Z900, very comfortable, agile naked bike. Engine is very smooth in all ranges, and when needed, all 4 cylinders of its 948cc will move you out of harm's way in a quite and calm exhaust fashion; no loud exhaust screaming required.
I LOVE MY MT-07 ❤❤
Why are you driving with high-beams on?
Can you review a Mutt Razorback
Hello i enjoyed your vids
I think is great, but my MT 07 doesn't beats my mom's scoter for city riding (I live in a city without highways)
Thanks man!
This was a sales pitch 😂
Who else remembers the days of chase and yummi adventure series
Сколько в Америке он сейчас стоит ?Спасибо
What’s the weight of this bike?
If you ride in the city you barely need a 125 cc scooter. At least in Europe
Yamaha needs to fix the styling of their XSR700 because this is the perfect engine, but MT looks too sharp, and XSR doesn't hit the retro spot just yet. The new Kawasaki RS650 would be perfect, but the engine sucks.
OC - perfect for city; she's living in her car.
I'm really starting to think chase is being paid to say certain things about the mt-07 and R7.....just my opinion
keep thinking that bud
@@tilled6695 if you look at motonositys review on the R7 the chases, chase said he would have the R7 over an R6 as you don't need that much power but rides an MT-10
mt-o7 or ktm 790?
