Hello how's everybody doing today. I was just writing in to say I learned my lesson not to mod everything. Wrote in on your RUclips page couple years ago about this motorcycle looking Racer 50 that I got. Because of the shortage it took a year to get the parts that I needed to put it back together the way it was,unmodded some stuff and had to order a new third motor for it and most importantly like you suggested I used a blue loctite on the engine mount brackets so the screws didn't fall out on me like they did on the second motor.
Nothing is perfect, but to me you have a reliable fun awesome bike especially for the price!! The positives are way more than the few negative, I think you have a great bike!! The mods you did make it even better!!
I’m buying a 2019 restricted model from my drivers instructor next week actually. So its gonna be my first bike. I can’t wait. The bike is so fun and I do already know how to ride and respect it, so it’s gonna be so fun!
Another nice MT07 vid man! I put a deposit down on my MT07 yesterday. Yourself and a few other vloggers waxing lyrical about the MT07 are the reason I went with it over one of the other mid range naked bikes on the market. Waiting to see if the shop is getting the '22 or '23 model in. TBH, I'll be happy with either one.
Nice! You'll love it, guaranteed. I made the decision to get the MT-07 after seeing all of the reviewers on the bike having so much fun and raving about the bike. I held off on getting for years because I thought faster bikes would be better but honestly I fell in love with the little mt-07 and plan on keeping it as long as I ride. Best of luck!

@@22smcrrider96 he’s a very old school incredibly low effort RUclipsr. He doesn’t do anything for the channel basically. If he does it it’s because he wants to do it 99% of the time. Which is fine but he misses a lot of opportunities imo. He talked before about not relying on test rides and why he dislikes bike demo events etc…but it’s all BS afaic, none of it is a valid excuse to not do it in the first place, just he could ride peoples bikes from the area, he could do 100 things if he wanted to the bottom line is he just can’t be bothered to…so yes you’re right he hasn’t that I can recall at least, zero reason that should stop him from doing it occasionally. Would be far more interesting than having 37 videos about the mt07 largely saying the same things after 37 videos about the super motor largely saying the same thing over and over with every bike he gets. Anyway yea thanks for coming to my Ted talk about why cycle cruza should start putting some effort into mixing things up.
I had my MT07 for 6 years and live in New York city it rains a lot and humidity is bad in the summer and the only thing that rust is the rear swing arm, everything else is fine

@@exothermal.sprocket Don’t like the look of the trellis frame near the tail of the bike. I own a 2020 SV650 and i like the look of the frame on it, but not the 8S.
@@exothermal.sprocket I know. That’s why I mentioned my SV650, which has been in production for over 20 years. Just don’t like the look of the 8S. Opinions vary. I’m happy with my 2022 MT-07, 2020 SV650, and 2020 DRZ400SM.🙂
@@l-mac5105 Well that's the point right? The joy of riding? Glad you like those. From a design standpoint, triangles are super strong, but I'm not sure that's the reason Suzuki chosen the trellis subframe.

I keep putting off a track day and now it is ten years later. 🤣 I must do it in 2023! Imo, get the MT-07 but you can't go wrong with any of the MT bikes. However, the SOUND of the MT-07 is orgasmic and it just so fun to ride!
@@CycleCruza Will confess I was nervous as h3ll my first track day. Being an older rider who started only a few years ago, I was pleasantly surprised by the camaraderie of the whole scene and by how many guys were my age or older. Now? I'm addicted! It helps that I'm only about 15 miles from a 3 track park, though! I'm still new enough that my FZ1 has me captivated with it's 1000cc engine. Such a monster! But, when I'm "mature" enough to downsize... yeah, I could be happy with the MT07!
Great vid man! I rented one of these 3 or 4 yrs ago as my bike was being fixed... and loved it. Always said I gotta get one but never have got found to it. The new 2024 model with the new screen... damn it's tempting even more now (I hated the old boring lame headlight aswell, so was always gonna replace that, but now this cyclops style one is pretty cool, no need to change)
I’ve owned an FZ-07 for 6 years. No problems at all except for a stuck fuel cap. No rust. This is the most fun I’ve had on 2 wheels. It still gets looks from people.
This is my first bike! Appreciate your videos. All valid points. Unfortunately I had to house my bike to keep it out of winter weather. Can’t ride it and I want to every day all day. I guess if you were trying to wheelie a shorter throttle might be nice but there have been a couple times this thing wants to buck me. Getting those mirrors and tail kit for Christmas, and sliders. You think I should get a K&N first if I gotta wait a little for exhaust? Can you make a video about the ECU stuff?
Nice! Take it easy, it has some strong bottom end torque which makes the bike fun but can be trouble to a new rider. best of luck and have fun modding it. PS. Get the exhaust first, get an akrapovic, perfect for this bike and the sound it so awesome.
Don't hate on the MT-07 it's a great bike. Cruza stick with it, you'll start thinking about other bikes, the grass isn't always greener on the other side.

That was my experience too + the ones I did see had unusually high shipping and setup fees making the OTD price unacceptable. Lots of new direct competitor options (Hornet/GSX 8S/Re-released Duke 790) may soften demand hopefully making getting your hands on one at a reasonable price more realistic!
I got my MT07 just looking for weeks and talked him down to 7k it’s only got 2k miles and the whole list of mods (exhaust quickshifter flash etc) I found it with CycleTrader

The new one is pre-wired for a quick shifter because they would have been DESTROYED if the R7 didn’t have a quick shifter option because that bike needs it. Hopefully they release an SP version. You think they will?
Looking for a bike, I used to ride a DRZ super moto and loved how torquey it was, never had to worry about speed because of the bike. This seems like the best bang for your buck, lotta bike for a decent price. If anybody knows any other comparable bikes in the same price range I’d love to know! Thanks bro

The MT/FZ absolutely does rust. It’s steel. It will happen. I’ve had two. One was rustier than the other. Best tip is to get some SC1 or similar protective coating and just keep it wiped down. Keep it stored dry and you should be fine. I live on O’ahu and it’s just ridiculously salty here so most bikes end up pretty nasty.
What are your top considerations for a temporary third bike options at the moment? MV Agusta Brutale 800 RC will make you think nothing above a triple is ever needed ever again. Bro the triple on that bike especially In RR & RC form…it’s the fastest revving motor I’ve ever seen. I think it might beat the LFA but I’m not sure. When you’re in idle and spin the throttle it’s at redline so fast your mind will be blown. that’s the best sounding motor in the world imo…as far as bikes go. Btw would you ever make some test ride videos ? I’d love to see more variety and your impressions of bikes
I think MV Agusta bikes are the most beautiful naked bikes you can buy BUT they always come in last place in the naked shootouts. My top picks are a Kawasaki h2 or new M 1000 RR. As far as test rides, I wish I could get them but dealers around here won't allow them. Maybe I need to start my own dealership!
If riding in winter with salt on the roads, or close to the sea with higher levels of salt in the air the whole time... wash the bike regularly! The paint protecting the metal with only delay problems. Salt eats through paint until it's just bare metal, and it happens quicker than you'd think.
@CycleCruza I recently picked mine up a month ago and I live in Florida so for the rust on the frame. I can keep an eye out for it and let you know if they are correct on it. So far no problem on the bike so far just going through the break in..
As long as I ride I'll own this bike unless a better mt-07 comes out. My YZ450FX and MT-07 are keepers. I want to add a third bike but I probably won't keep it long.
@@CycleCruza I agree it’s a keeper I just don’t think it’s a forever bike especially not in stock form. Maybe I should find a better word. It’s not like a trophy bike or a poster bike you know what I mean? You don’t lust over it growing up and whatnot. The RS660/Tuono 660 would be the only trophy bike in this category for me. I had high hopes for the Trident but the trident is slow and Boring. The Tuono is like the MT07 with more of everything & higher quality fit and finish, same torque but with more revs and more top end rush/power. Street Triple doesn’t have the low end torque but it’s another forever bike/trophy bike in this category for me…it’s basically the naked/factory streetfighter version of Triumph’s R6 (the Daytona) so yea…you can’t get around a bike that’s made to a price point like half of the triumph for example. Just tbc though I agree the MT07 is a perfect bike to keep, it’s like a dirt bike for the street it’s a work horse, but it’s not the bike I’d take to the car/bike show though.

Yes mate bike looks lovely, Im torn between this and the CBR650R I was wondering how this one does on fuel? Ive heard that the mt07 may drink quite a bit I was wondering if it's as bad as they make out? Do you know what you average for mpg? Or how it does against the CBR in terms of fuel?
i also have a 2022 MT07 & i wish the handle bars were pulled back about 2"s....I'm 6' tall & going at higher speeds it's most comfortable, in my Corbin seat, if i barely hang on to the grips....
Lesson number 1 2 and 3 if the only good thing going about something you’re going to buy is the price you will be let down.!!! ❤ And the reason they didn’t add everything that everybody wants on a normal motorcycle is because it would be the price of every other bike and you probably wouldn’t buy it!! Mt09 especially the newer ones also for me if I want a grunt I'd go supermoto not my street bike I like both worlds but the 07 just don't like that sound
Knock on wood, but I've had my 2019 for almost 3 years 13K miles, no rust yet. Garage kept, have road in the rain quite a few times but will not ride it when there is salt on the road. Seen what the salt did to my under carriage of my car. LOL
If I do not like the stock bike. I will not buy it. If I am going to spend a bunch of money doing mods, I may as well get a bike with what I want on it. That has been my gripe with H-D guys. Buy a big heavy bike with gutless performance, dump 10K+ into it to make it a little less gutless. For half the money, they could have gotten the bike stock with the performance they were looking for. To each their own. But why put R6 parts on an MT07? All of the gripes you have would make the MT07 a Superbike....RIGHT? Every bike I have has shortcomings. that is what keep riding interesting I guess............. I am still thinking of getting one of those new CFMoto 700 CL-X!!! or thier 650NK...I got a chance to test ride them....Sick bikes!!! Either that or put saddle bags on my CBR954RR.....LOL Talk about short comings........
The MT-07 is awesome bone stock. You don't have to do anything but if you want to hear its amazing sound at least add a slip-on exhaust. Modding the MT-07 does make it a little quicker and better looking. I think you should get a MT-07, it will better than the cfmoto bikes. Just listen to the sound of my bike! As far as the R6 throttle tube, it just provides a shorter throw, I don't think it is necessary to do but I might do it anyways to share with the channel.
@@CycleCruza I was not referring to YOUR mods. Most of the mods I have seen you do on your bikes are reasonable to me. But I watch people go to the extreme unnecessary things when a new bike or a second bike would be a better choice in my opinion. As far at the MT07 vs the CFMoto, I like the MT07. I just liked the CFMoto a little better. I would be satisfied with either bike frankly.
Yes. Got my bike for a year now. Never road in the rain and washed the bike 2 times and dried the bike immediately but I just saw the rust on the swing arm. On the bad welding part.
SO I will just state the biggest issue right off the bat, RUST!!!!! and I cannot scream it loud enough. If you life any place where road salt is needed or a rust belt either be prepared to religiously clean and acf50 it or it'll turn into a bigger rust heap than 70's jap bikes. I bought mine new in 2018 here In the Uk and used it as a fair weather bike so didnt have any real issue UNTIL this winter when i had to use it for a while due to car issues, within 2 months the rear swing arm has rusted so bad it needs replacing. I love the way the bike rides, the engine, and it's sound but frankly for Yamaha to continue to release a bike with as bad of a flaw as this and never bother to even rectify it Even in newer released versions of the bike has shown me how little they care about their customers and honestly has put me off of the company completely.
The MT 07 is not unique in air filter accessibility, in fact it's not bad, just take your time and enjoy. Mine is 6 years old and no rust. Admittedly, I'm in California and rarely ride in the rain, but I often ride along the Pacific Coast in NorCal where it can be cold, foggy, and damp. I've heard about rust on the back of the swingarm, particularly among UK riders.
The mt-07 with a full akra exhaust has a nice deep rich note and not as raspy sounding as a Harley with Vance & Hines exhaust. However, that is my opinion. I like the sound of Harleys too.

Hello how's everybody doing today. I was just writing in to say I learned my lesson not to mod everything. Wrote in on your RUclips page couple years ago about this motorcycle looking Racer 50 that I got. Because of the shortage it took a year to get the parts that I needed to put it back together the way it was,unmodded some stuff and had to order a new third motor for it and most importantly like you suggested I used a blue loctite on the engine mount brackets so the screws didn't fall out on me like they did on the second motor.
Nothing is perfect, but to me you have a reliable fun awesome bike especially for the price!! The positives are way more than the few negative, I think you have a great bike!! The mods you did make it even better!!
Overall, it is one of the best city bikes you can buy that can do a little bit of everything with an amazing soundtrack.
I’m buying a 2019 restricted model from my drivers instructor next week actually. So its gonna be my first bike. I can’t wait. The bike is so fun and I do already know how to ride and respect it, so it’s gonna be so fun!

I put a deposit down on my MT07 yesterday. Yourself and a few other vloggers waxing lyrical about the MT07 are the reason I went with it over one of the other mid range naked bikes on the market.
Waiting to see if the shop is getting the '22 or '23 model in. TBH, I'll be happy with either one.

I held off on getting for years because I thought faster bikes would be better but honestly I fell in love with the little mt-07 and plan on keeping it as long as I ride. Best of luck!

@@22smcrrider96 he’s a very old school incredibly low effort RUclipsr. He doesn’t do anything for the channel basically. If he does it it’s because he wants to do it 99% of the time. Which is fine but he misses a lot of opportunities imo. He talked before about not relying on test rides and why he dislikes bike demo events etc…but it’s all BS afaic, none of it is a valid excuse to not do it in the first place, just he could ride peoples bikes from the area, he could do 100 things if he wanted to the bottom line is he just can’t be bothered to…so yes you’re right he hasn’t that I can recall at least, zero reason that should stop him from doing it occasionally. Would be far more interesting than having 37 videos about the mt07 largely saying the same things after 37 videos about the super motor largely saying the same thing over and over with every bike he gets. Anyway yea thanks for coming to my Ted talk about why cycle cruza should start putting some effort into mixing things up.

I had my MT07 for 6 years and live in New York city it rains a lot and humidity is bad in the summer and the only thing that rust is the rear swing arm, everything else is fine

@@exothermal.sprocket Don’t like the look of the trellis frame near the tail of the bike. I own a 2020 SV650 and i like the look of the frame on it, but not the 8S.
@@l-mac5105 It's not new, as Ducati used to do that on Monsters around the engine, KTM has done that for the subframe.
@@exothermal.sprocket I know. That’s why I mentioned my SV650, which has been in production for over 20 years. Just don’t like the look of the 8S. Opinions vary. I’m happy with my 2022 MT-07, 2020 SV650, and 2020 DRZ400SM.🙂

From a design standpoint, triangles are super strong, but I'm not sure that's the reason Suzuki chosen the trellis subframe.

Imo, get the MT-07 but you can't go wrong with any of the MT bikes. However, the SOUND of the MT-07 is orgasmic and it just so fun to ride!
@@CycleCruza Will confess I was nervous as h3ll my first track day. Being an older rider who started only a few years ago, I was pleasantly surprised by the camaraderie of the whole scene and by how many guys were my age or older. Now? I'm addicted! It helps that I'm only about 15 miles from a 3 track park, though!
I'm still new enough that my FZ1 has me captivated with it's 1000cc engine. Such a monster! But, when I'm "mature" enough to downsize... yeah, I could be happy with the MT07!
Great vid man! I rented one of these 3 or 4 yrs ago as my bike was being fixed... and loved it. Always said I gotta get one but never have got found to it. The new 2024 model with the new screen... damn it's tempting even more now (I hated the old boring lame headlight aswell, so was always gonna replace that, but now this cyclops style one is pretty cool, no need to change)

I’ve owned an FZ-07 for 6 years. No problems at all except for a stuck fuel cap. No rust. This is the most fun I’ve had on 2 wheels. It still gets looks from people.
It's care and maintenance
This is my first bike! Appreciate your videos. All valid points. Unfortunately I had to house my bike to keep it out of winter weather. Can’t ride it and I want to every day all day. I guess if you were trying to wheelie a shorter throttle might be nice but there have been a couple times this thing wants to buck me. Getting those mirrors and tail kit for Christmas, and sliders. You think I should get a K&N first if I gotta wait a little for exhaust? Can you make a video about the ECU stuff?
Nice! Take it easy, it has some strong bottom end torque which makes the bike fun but can be trouble to a new rider. best of luck and have fun modding it. PS. Get the exhaust first, get an akrapovic, perfect for this bike and the sound it so awesome.
Don't knock the throttle tube upgrade if you haven't tried it. Long stock throws require to much wrist rotation.
What do you think about the Aprilia 660 rs, claimed 100 hp, lightweight, not too aggressive of a seating position, and you have some wind protection?

That was my experience too + the ones I did see had unusually high shipping and setup fees making the OTD price unacceptable. Lots of new direct competitor options (Hornet/GSX 8S/Re-released Duke 790) may soften demand hopefully making getting your hands on one at a reasonable price more realistic!
I got my MT07 just looking for weeks and talked him down to 7k it’s only got 2k miles and the whole list of mods (exhaust quickshifter flash etc) I found it with CycleTrader

The new one is pre-wired for a quick shifter because they would have been DESTROYED if the R7 didn’t have a quick shifter option because that bike needs it. Hopefully they release an SP version. You think they will?

Looking for a bike, I used to ride a DRZ super moto and loved how torquey it was, never had to worry about speed because of the bike. I loved my 2019 MT07. The only thing I didn't like was no cruise control. Since I commute everyday. Cruise control on the highway is just a must imo.

just use good tools makes the job a lot more easy even get a cheap tool set a small rachet with bits and extensions can do all the work with controlle

The MT/FZ absolutely does rust. It’s steel. It will happen. I’ve had two. One was rustier than the other.
Best tip is to get some SC1 or similar protective coating and just keep it wiped down. Keep it stored dry and you should be fine.
I live on O’ahu and it’s just ridiculously salty here so most bikes end up pretty nasty.
Your next bike, Triumph Tiger 900 GT/Rally/Rally Pro. It's not a liter bike and they sound amazing with an aftermarket exhaust on them.
What are your top considerations for a temporary third bike options at the moment? MV Agusta Brutale 800 RC will make you think nothing above a triple is ever needed ever again. Bro the triple on that bike especially In RR & RC form…it’s the fastest revving motor I’ve ever seen. I think it might beat the LFA but I’m not sure. When you’re in idle and spin the throttle it’s at redline so fast your mind will be blown. that’s the best sounding motor in the world imo…as far as bikes go.

I think MV Agusta bikes are the most beautiful naked bikes you can buy BUT they always come in last place in the naked shootouts. My top picks are a Kawasaki h2 or new M 1000 RR. As far as test rides, I wish I could get them but dealers around here won't allow them. Maybe I need to start my own dealership!

Get some acf50 and put a light coat on to prevent rusting
What is the exhaust?
If riding in winter with salt on the roads, or close to the sea with higher levels of salt in the air the whole time... wash the bike regularly!
The paint protecting the metal with only delay problems. Salt eats through paint until it's just bare metal, and it happens quicker than you'd think.
@CycleCruza I recently picked mine up a month ago and I live in Florida so for the rust on the frame. I can keep an eye out for it and let you know if they are correct on it. So far no problem on the bike so far just going through the break in..
It’s not a forever bike. Like it’s not a bike you treasure. It’s a bike you respect for being amazing despite its price.
As long as I ride I'll own this bike unless a better mt-07 comes out. My YZ450FX and MT-07 are keepers. I want to add a third bike but I probably won't keep it long.
@@CycleCruza I agree it’s a keeper I just don’t think it’s a forever bike especially not in stock form. Maybe I should find a better word. It’s not like a trophy bike or a poster bike you know what I mean? You don’t lust over it growing up and whatnot.
The RS660/Tuono 660 would be the only trophy bike in this category for me. I had high hopes for the Trident but the trident is slow and Boring.
The Tuono is like the MT07 with more of everything & higher quality fit and finish, same torque but with more revs and more top end rush/power. Street Triple doesn’t have the low end torque but it’s another forever bike/trophy bike in this category for me…it’s basically the naked/factory streetfighter version of Triumph’s R6 (the Daytona) so yea…you can’t get around a bike that’s made to a price point like half of the triumph for example.
Just tbc though I agree the MT07 is a perfect bike to keep, it’s like a dirt bike for the street it’s a work horse, but it’s not the bike I’d take to the car/bike show though.

i also have a 2022 MT07 & i wish the handle bars were pulled back about 2"s....I'm 6' tall & going at higher speeds it's most comfortable, in my Corbin seat, if i barely hang on to the grips....

It does rust! Bought mine used is a 2015 and has rust spots now you can clean rust apply a bit of rust protection paint and thats it

Knock on wood, but I've had my 2019 for almost 3 years 13K miles, no rust yet. Garage kept, have road in the rain quite a few times but will not ride it when there is salt on the road. Seen what the salt did to my under carriage of my car. LOL
Rust. That's why I own a Harley. It leaks oil like crazy and there is NO rust on it. Problemo solved.
I have a 2020 CB500F and its rusty and corroded already, lots of rust under the gastank, thats just motorcycles nowadays..

If I do not like the stock bike. I will not buy it. If I am going to spend a bunch of money doing mods, I may as well get a bike with what I want on it. That has been my gripe with H-D guys. Buy a big heavy bike with gutless performance, dump 10K+ into it to make it a little less gutless. For half the money, they could have gotten the bike stock with the performance they were looking for. To each their own. But why put R6 parts on an MT07?
All of the gripes you have would make the MT07 a Superbike....RIGHT? Every bike I have has shortcomings. that is what keep riding interesting I guess.............

The MT-07 is awesome bone stock. You don't have to do anything but if you want to hear its amazing sound at least add a slip-on exhaust. Modding the MT-07 does make it a little quicker and better looking. I think you should get a MT-07, it will better than the cfmoto bikes. Just listen to the sound of my bike! As far as the R6 throttle tube, it just provides a shorter throw, I don't think it is necessary to do but I might do it anyways to share with the channel.
@@CycleCruza I was not referring to YOUR mods. Most of the mods I have seen you do on your bikes are reasonable to me. But I watch people go to the extreme unnecessary things when a new bike or a second bike would be a better choice in my opinion.
As far at the MT07 vs the CFMoto, I like the MT07. I just liked the CFMoto a little better. I would be satisfied with either bike frankly.

SO I will just state the biggest issue right off the bat, RUST!!!!! and I cannot scream it loud enough. If you life any place where road salt is needed or a rust belt either be prepared to religiously clean and acf50 it or it'll turn into a bigger rust heap than 70's jap bikes. I bought mine new in 2018 here In the Uk and used it as a fair weather bike so didnt have any real issue UNTIL this winter when i had to use it for a while due to car issues, within 2 months the rear swing arm has rusted so bad it needs replacing.
I love the way the bike rides, the engine, and it's sound but frankly for Yamaha to continue to release a bike with as bad of a flaw as this and never bother to even rectify it Even in newer released versions of the bike has shown me how little they care about their customers and honestly has put me off of the company completely.
The MT 07 is not unique in air filter accessibility, in fact it's not bad, just take your time and enjoy. Mine is 6 years old and no rust. Admittedly, I'm in California and rarely ride in the rain, but I often ride along the Pacific Coast in NorCal where it can be cold, foggy, and damp. I've heard about rust on the back of the swingarm, particularly among UK riders.
That is good to good to hear. I hope mine doesn't get rusty but I will keep it clean in the winter. I'll keep you all updated.

The mt-07 with a full akra exhaust has a nice deep rich note and not as raspy sounding as a Harley with Vance & Hines exhaust. However, that is my opinion. I like the sound of Harleys too.
