Just went to my high school reunion. I graduated in 1970. What a beautiful time. Sure thinning out though. Fewer left every year but those that are left are still rocking. We are trying to get together every year now and I still see them as the beautiful young people they were. It happened so fast.
Can you imagine? An underground coffee shop, people smoking, drinking, talking, moving about and the Moody Blues are playing in the background. Bloody hell...
I'm not sure the audience realized what they were experiencing. It was a studio quality performance of a classic that will endure for many, many years.
Yes, I see the image clearly and distinctly before me. In 1970 I was 22 years old and lived in Amsterdam. And although all kinds of changes began to take place, both musically and culturally, such as a whole row of bands falling apart, a lot of new and good things took their place.
I love the Moody Blues and lots of the Great Prog rock bands of my teen years. There are some more current bands that carry on that kind of quality arrangement. Check out Symphonic Metal. Nightwish live with the current lead singer Floor Jansen. The orchestra and choirs are there, but on their London Orchestra/Choir pre-recorded backing tracks and keyboards.

One morning back in 1977 while driving across the Oakland Bay Bridge, heading into San Francisco for work, this song came on the radio.
