- Part 1 of the upcoming phase's loot discussion, this is more of a spec bias discussion, priority is a pretty poor word but thats the word people tend to use. As always, this is not a strict guide, literally discussing my thoughts from scouring class discords around the date of recording.

Seal of Danzalar is a good threat ring for prot palas

As mentioned by someone else in the comments: You only mentioned survival hunters once ...
- Ring of lethality: BIS for the phase
- no waiting time on 4/5 pieces T5(that is only true for bm hunters), you swap D3 set right away with either T5 head, T5 shoulders, Ranger Generals Chestguard, Void Reaver Leggings
- T5 legs are BIS, since your offset piece will be the attumen gloves (Gloves of Dexterous Manipulation)
---> so quiet a word in loot prios regarding giving away anything to mages first .....
- Vashj Bow: sorry mate, but that sounded like "mh ... yeah ... they can have it last" - Survival Hunters are a top DPS class (not S tier, but A to A+), treat them as such, especially since they bring one of the strongest (if not the strongest) raid dps buff in the expansion

As a Elemental Shammy I'd be looking to get the Sextant trinket. Crit is everything to us, it triggers Elemental Focus so it helps with our mana a lot, then it also works along with the Lightning Capacitor to proc that more often.
Yeah but compared the icon you're losing out on spell damage and between your consumes and raid buffs your crit is covered.
I'd actually prio fathomstone to shadow warlocks. Ele shamans and arcane mages both want Kael'Thas' Nexus Key.
Well Nexus should be prio to Boomy and Mage first, as both convert intellect to spell power, shamans don't. Therefor Shamans prob stay MH+OH

Can you tell me why Frayed Tether of the Dronwned is not good for a druid tank? It is a great way to get crit cap while also maintaining hit and stamina. You miss agility sure, but the only better neck imo is the Verdant Sphere and that is likely not going to a tank first.
Well, its usable but PvP neck is far better for example for crit immunity and all around value. And if you don't care for the crit immunity help because you already have it, Frayed Tether is way worse than P1 options like Worgen Claw
Caveat for the T5 gloves for mages is that arcane will want them as part of their P3 bis, as you want to keep the 2p, and gloves+shoulders are the best slots to "sacrifice"

@@Issac117 Don't have an exact list other than what I put together on 70upgrades to figure out what were the best slots to sacrifice - the sims interestingly seem to suggest it might even be bis (or at least roughly equivalent to T6) for arcane to be using 4p T5 even in P3, as the setbonus is quite good, and the extra hit on the T6 pieces largely go to waste. In general in T6 you just want either 2p T5 with 3 T6 pieces (since T6 pieces give by far the most useful stats for arcane). Other than that, for the rest of the armor there's basically one solid item with no hit that's just quite a bit better than the rest. For weapon/offhand you can't actually avoid getting hit, so you want the P3 sword/offhand combo with hit, though IMO it could make more sense to prio others first for this since they get bigger upgrades (I think arcane will usually end up above the hitcap even without ele shaman even if you give hit a stat weight of 0). Rings I believe the 2 rep rings are likely to be best, though could be wrong about this.
Dark moon cards got removed from PTR, so this means you shouldn't be harsh on Enhance shamans with TT anymore. Another case of blizzard making very odd choices and backing out of them lol; but essentially for the means of Tsunami Talisman, push enhance up because Dark moon Card Crusade won't be in P2 anymore it seems.
I see you prio feral tank a lot over the prot warrior since the pieces are better. What I dont get is why bother bringing a war tank at all? If your feral is to get all the gear first then what?Are you going to have your t5 geared feral tank play OT and keep the tier 4 warrior as MT?Doesn't feel right.
If your MT is a prot war I believe he either gets all the loot or you dont even bring one at all, since he later on falls behind.
Not sure if i missed something. T5 helm is definitely bis hpal as well. with no strong contenders for it. closest thing is engi goggles but they're still not nearly as good.
Yea I’m seeing a lot of paladin gear that is bis being missed. It’s obvious he is neglecting paladins.

You've got it wrong slightly for the balance druids When it comes down to the tier 5 pieces pants, and the pieces you swap out and into wether you take them or not. It`s either you swap the t5 pants for spellstrike or t5 chest for Vestments of the Sea Witch, in which the latter is better overall, but first is easier to obtain since spelltrike is phase 1 bis

Verdant sphere should be a hard prio for prot paladin since its their best neck in tbc. And they are crucial to the performance of the raid.

one factor is that they dont want the hit. rets only need 3% hit with a boomie in the raid.

I'm our surv and I'm getting full prio after mages since any t5 piece is an instant upgrade without having to wait for 2/4 set bonus before swapping out beastlord. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Can you explain to me how this 4 set for bears is better than T4*1400 armor and increased rage generation. I keep looking @ it and i'm so confused.
The bonuses are irrelevant compared to the stat gains across the board for taking T5 over T4
You only get the 4 set for the raw stats the gear provides and not for the set bonus it self. You will have loads of armor in full tier 5 gear so you won't need the t4 4 set bonus anymore.

If you have a prot warrior they should be main tanking and getting 4 piece t5 first over anyone in that tier. Meta wont be running a prot warr anyway but if you have one you’re trolling gimping them out of the haste proc/stat gains.

@@viva9210 healers don't benefit even 50% of a tank from gear a good, geared tank can carry alot. Less damage taken and more threat . Healers will have it easier and dps can go ham . I also play a feral, but played resto and later tank in classic. Could easily have used t2 all the way through Naxx.

If you want to nitpick more on belt of hundred deaths. Look at each specs t6 belt from sunwell.. the ones that keep it will be feral threat tanks, rogues, and ret pallies far into sunwell.. so longevity might be worth looking at.
Every class/spec replaces hundred deaths with t6 belt
Sunwell items are statted disgustingly, any class will replace 100d with them.

Im a bit confused why Holy Paladins are barely mentioned, especially on tier. Im not saying your wrong. Im just wondering if your saying a lot of our tier 4 gear is not going to be replaced.
In all honesty the 3 pieces of T4 you have (head, chest, shoulders) if you have it cus not exactly top prio on it either are very similar to T5 about 2.5% spell crit and 60 healing with another bad 2 and 4 piece set bonus. We're dead last on all tier unfortunately and that'll continue into T6 too 😢 lots of nice off set plate with spell crit and higher healing this phase for us tho that we are the only ones who get it and we can always take cloth, leather, mail healing bits until we get our Bis pieces so we should have lots of upgrades drop every week.
I agree. The T5 helmet conversation is what got me to pause and come down to the comments. Our T5 helm is head and shoulders above the other options (heh). I can understand being lower prio on tier gear because our set bonuses are bad (so are Ret's), but not even being part of the conversation just feels bad.
I know this video took a ton of work, and it isn't fair to expect equal coverage for all specs. Big props to Knot for this content, please keep it coming :)

Commenting on the Shoulderpads, for Warriors afaik you need Searing Grips to reach the next expertise reachpoint, Grips of Deftness isn't enough to push you over the breakpoint.
Using the Tireless Trackers shoulders as enh, as I wasn't lucky so far with the Stranger ones. Throughout all of p1, the Karazhan leather shoulders didn't drop once, and my guild was particularly unlucky with shaman tokens on high king throughout p1, so I actually replaced a blue piece here =). Oh and they look amazing >_<
They do lack stam though, same as the trash drop bracers in KT, and vengeance wrap. Since enh is VERY squishy in raid setting due to lower hp numbers than other melee dps, and a lack of survivability abilities, I would generally prioritize pieces with stamina, should dps benefits be really close.
Why no mention of resto shamans on the helm token?
I believe T4 elemental 2 piece bonus is still bis for resto (helm and shoulders). The T5 should be prio-ed to others, before going to Resto Shams.

TT and badge are completely different trinkets. TT is offensive (threat) and badge is defensive (armor and agi, the latter many wrongfully consider a threat stat.) Sure warrior (fury and arms) are still above Imo. But not because of badge.

@@rickymiller3302 Yeh 100% agree, what people who dont play pala also dont realise is bloack value is insane when tanking ads. When youre in the ads stages of any fight or inbetween bosses you need as much BV and SP as possible.

I am a Shadowpriest.
And with this Item I was able to take 4% off my Talents... and spec 3% more Crit and 5/5 Shadow Afflinity
As I rolled a 95er LOG this fight... I just granted it to myself!
Sextant of Unstable Currents is BiS for ArcaneMages because haste is not as strong as it is for fire and they have close to 1,5sec per cast for a 290 sec active time on a 300 sec bossfight. Stacking int also brings them to a buffed critchance of 43-47%. This all together make this trinket stronger than the Badges-Trinket. For Ele‘s the Capacitor is benefitting from their talents and haste is still a thing. Since i‘m pretty sure the Sextant is BiS for ArcaneMages, i will prio this to ArcaneMages and to Ele‘s if they are sure it‘s their BiS as well. Any oppinions on this?

Why do rets want DST and not tsunami talisman?
Tsunami is bad b/c of how little attacks per minute rets do, making them get little value from the proc. It's also assumed to be a poor trinket overall, as the proc chance is low. Rets also dont need the hit in minmaxed comps. DST is good for ret because seal twisting rets currently have to hold off on using Crusader strike to auto attack first, and with haste, you delay crusader strike less
@@Kirbstompd you should look at ret sims on 3% and 6% set before you say that's bad for rets, all the good rets know what loot they need and will have evidence to back it up. TT and Crusade is ret bis trinkets.

Good video, but hard disagreement with the tsunami talisman not going to a ret paladin. Fanaticism>Conviction>Sanctified Seals>Imp Seal of Crusader make Tsunami a fast crit proc, plus the hit factor makes it a huge want for them or even an enh shammy
++ This is true it is bis trinket for rets with crusade trinket on sims.
TT will prob have the same abysmal proc chance like hourglass, so it will fucking suck. Hit is better gained elsewhere than this. TT was never good for Ret and wont be in P2.

For belt of 100D Ret>everything unless ur feral is apart of a speedrunning guild, ret paladins are the biggest expertise users, everything we do/proc revolves around expertise. Our seals and white hits are our only form of damage and subject to the expertise gods.

block rating is op for paladins as it contributes to uncrushability considerably more than def, dodge or parry. Of course it needs to be balanced but saying things like tier pants are not so good is missleading. A protection paladin will be using a good deal of block rating to meet their cap requirements and having a few pieces with large amounts allows us to swap and optimize to make use of other pieces for threat and survival.
Great video overall. It’s clear you play Feral tho. At least I’m guessing you do. You prio them too often. Makes what’s an otherwise awesome video seem a bit biased anytime loot pertaining to them is concerned. I suppose that’s to be expected as it would be hard not to favor your own main class for anyone. Overall nice job tho.
Your comment on Frayed Tether of the Drowned on Prot Pally is incorrect. The only time threat is important with our insane generation is on pull, this is one of the few items slots we can gain hit over spellpower. In the patch we are on our taunt is based on melee hit not spell hit and there is no suitable spell neck. As a MT pally over our guilds warriors I would argue that Pally should be equal prio with the warrior. If you only aoe tank then you don't need it early as a Pally, otherwise argue your case.
Most guilds are underusing their Pallys. I MT Grull, High King, 4 adds on Mag and Mag the boss, solo tank Kara (outside of netherspite).

@@MrScart35 I will assume that you don't know because it was changed in a late patch in TBC and that is what we are running on.
Paladin Taunt is based off of melee hit not spell hit. We dont't want spell hit as eye of magtheridon is more threat than gaining spell hit.
But not missing a taunt 10% less is acually a big difference for 1 single item slot thay is better itemised in comparison to other slots.

I play Feral, mainly Cat but I'm also back-up Tank & Tank atleast 33% of T5 raids. I pull 1.3-1.5k DPS on T4 25m bosses, I deserve a chance at loot like anybody else does
It makes me sad that this guy doesn't have very strong knowledge of arcane mage. I am in full t4 bis and serpent coil is an upgrade over both icon and quag when I sim. Nearly 20 dps over quag...
The mage sim had it lower at the time I gathered the info. If you listened, I was very doubtful of said sims. But I'm glad you gave an update.
If you use quag eye as an arcane mage right now you are doing it wrong and should probably learn more about your class.
@@Excentrix54 It really comes down to fight length and enemy type. But generally it is some combination of Icon/quag/MQG/KT trinket. Not sure what you are really trying to say.
@@KnotxD in that case, the only thing that I could think of where the sim didn’t have serpent correct is possibly if it wasn’t set up to overlap the gem use effect with one’s first cd usage.
@@Schied I'm saying that the healing trinket is better combo with MQG for short fights and icon with TLC for long fights. Again you should learn your class better
Your guide is nice overall but you dont seem to know how a protection paladin works since you thought a lot to decide fang of leviathan which only adds 18 spell damage boost to a protection paladin but you didnt even think to give any priority to prot paladins for t5 tokens which all of them is hardly bis for them which, i think it comes from your lack of knowledge about protection paladins. If you boost a paladins threat it comes from spell power, that is for sure but you need to also be both defense and crush capped while you providing spell damage gear. The difference between t4 and t5 for prot paladin is mainly about the absurd amount of block RATING t5 pieces give to you because block rating provides much more uncrushability than dodge or parry rating. Dont know exact numbers but lets say if 10 block rating gives %2 block chance, 10 parry rating wouldnt even give %1 parry chance so, since all t5 pieces that are bis for prot paladin have high amount of block rating, they provide a massive amount of uncrushabilty while giving insane amount of spell power so if you could get those pieces asap you could swap your 0 spell damage gears into spell damage gears and that would boost your threat indirectly which makes t5 pieces insane for a protadin. So yeah, boost your knowledge more about them because a single t5 leggings or head can and will boost a protection paladin’s threat way more than a fang of leviathan ever could.

I really have to disagree with your position on prot warrior tier tokens, you really want you prot warrior to get 4p t5, putting them at the bottom of every tier token needs, is absurd. T5 is the peak of what Prot warriors get in terms of threat generation for tanking. You are flat wrong on most of your points regarding warriors They fall in T6 because their itemization is not good. if you were talking about T6 tier tokens, everything you said is valid. But you literally are like "here is your best Tanking set in TBC, you are bottom prio."
But it's not. The sim summary in the discord show minimal threat gains (if you arena and don't use 4pc T5) or close to zero threat gain with T5 4pc. The only gain is modest survivability which prot warriors don't need help with cause their kit excels at that.
I was surprised but that's the takeaway I got from the people running the maths.
@@KnotxD Sims are arbitrary though, they put numbers arbitrarily on to stats to try and make them "equivalent" to attack power. This is why sims change all the time, because people change the arbitrary stat weights they put on each stat. Just since T4 dropped "block value is awesome!" later "block value is the worst stat" as an example. In reality it is a decent stat it was never the best for threat, the best for threat is literally wearing DPS gear. Or your example with DST being way better in sims than in reality. Its all arbitrary. They serve a function but people put too much stock in them and ignore basic things like looking at a piece, knowing your class and what stats do for your class, and using the gear you should.
Also I have seen the arena gear builds, just because it is a threat increase, doesn't mean it is absolutely the best for tanking, I have PVP pieces I use for tanking, I take a ton more damage wearing them. Because they have zero defensive stats other than armor, stam, and crit immunity. I have done PTR testing, with it, some bosses you need survivability and having some avoidance so that the healers can catch up because something happened, is very useful. Your DPS does not stop doing damage just because you have to wear "tanky" gear.
@@Evirthewarrior I very much agree on this. DPS can ALWAYS Just stop dpsing and look at their meter. It is better than healers struggling keeping the tank up. People are focusing way too much on threat in BIS lists nowadays.

@@MooseCastle No they don't, the stat weight is put in beforehand and then they chase what they get in the real game. The stat weights people tell you about and list on websites for you to input, is derived from trial and error.
Serpent spine longbow isn’t a sv Hunter bow... it has no agi whereas sunfury does, and the next upgrade is steam arcanite pistol from Al’Ar. And even considering belt of one hundred deaths for Hunter... bro doesn’t really know Hunter from the sounds of it
Despite lack of Agi, Serpent spine is more raid DPS on survival still than the agi options.
If you listened before you commented, I pointed out that Hunter's technically want the belt as their BiS but DO NOT consider them. But thanks for the input.

Using any loot prio system at this point is useless. Just make a SR sheet and let people pick 3 items they want more than anything and they can roll against eachother with it with a 1 item per week caviate; Nice vid tho for letting people know what they need and why someone is telling them they need it more.
You keep repeating this nonsense about keeping the T4 2 set bonus for Enhancement. Absolutely no-one who understands the synergies of the class is prioritising this. If you are in the hunter group is 12 AP and a fraction of crit. If you are in the melee dps group, you probably only have 2 ppl being services and that 24AP and again, fractional crit, just isn't worth harming your own DPS>
Not to mention that literally no-one even has the T4 to start with because it was so poor in T4.
Odd maths you have there. 27.2 AP to the feral alone in Hunter group. Then add yourself and pets.
Minimum of 48 AP in the melee group if you run survival there. On the high end as much as 76AP.
Nowhere in this video did I suggest you keep the 2pc in Phase 2 for the long haul. What I'm pointing out is: if you upgrade T4 helm to T5 helm and break the 2pc without a shoulder upgrade on-hand also, it's likely a raid dps loss.
@@KnotxD I think you missed the greater point of my post. No-one has the T4 helm. They have the Leather badge hat. The T4 gear is terrible for Enhancement stat-wise. the T5 is not really that much better but unlike the T4 2 piece bonus, the T5 four piece outscales the loss of stats.
People in T4 bis are already breaking 2500 AP fairly easily in Raids. They aren't concerned about the T4 2 piece bonus, you're hunters aren't, your feral in the hunter group is probably a tank, in the melee group, you're seldom gonna find a comp with more than 2 out of Rog/Ret/DPS War. Sure they might care but the trade off of two people getting this slight bonus in terms of further hobbling the Enhancement DPS, which is already harmed by twisting, just isn't a good trade off.
To be fair, I've only really looked at my own server in detail But I've not seen a single Enhancement Shaman wearing T4 anywhere on Warcraftlogs and I doubt I ever will. It is such garbage tier, sub-blue itemisation stat-wise that no-one wearing it is every breaking into any server top 100 ENH.
@@dairallan This is complete nonsense, the literal rank 1 all star enhance shaman for gruul/mag right now is running 2 piece cyclone. Knot is spot on, you are looking at an incredibly marginal personal dps loss on paper by running these over badge helm/bladed shoulders, for a significantly bigger dps increase for your group unless you're the third enhance sitting in a caster group or something.

Thanks for the video, I have a little comment. I like the way Skarm did his loot prio discussions better, it feels more conversational and less rehearsed, and its hard to follow your talking on each item because you're using a lot of words and it feels kinda meandering and you're using the same tone the whole time so its hard to follow. Like, Skarm's loot council explanations were never this long and drawn out. You may say you give more information than him, but its just too much in my opinion. Again, thanks for making this video

Any guild that gives a feral druid any T5 before all warriors priests or other druids needs a smack... so ferals should be thought of for the shoulders and feral tanks make better use off 4 pc t4 than feral cats, feral cats t4 2 pc is amazing this is coming from a feral that main tanks in a double feral tank guild too now do I care if I dont get expertise shoulders no I don't but to speak completely wrong pisses off and druid trinket feral dos can have 100% uptime and for a tank the 4k armor is up a large amount of the time
4pt5 + wolfshead is BiS for cat, 4pt5+expertise gloves is bis for bear. The value of t4 2pc for cat is nearly zero.
Like James said below, T4 2pc isn't that good for cat as the energy proc is nice in theory but hard to utilise in practise, 4PC T5 is great in value. I also play in a double feral guild, but tier for ferals is always good apart from tier helm for feral DPS due to Wolfshead.
Non-powershifting cat detected. 2pcT4 is too unreliable for Ferals min/maxing their DPS. 4pcT4 is nice for tanking, but it'll be broken early for the huge boost in stats from T5. And like what has already been mentioned, Wolfshead + 4pcT5 is BIS for Feral DPS (which is coincidentally very strong for tanking too, so it's alot of value on Ferals). 4pcT5 also allows Ferals to not have to fight with other DPS specs with contested DPS gear in those slots.

@@Stompinwind Ahh I've never been in T6, but I heard that pshift rotation changes then. Pshift's still relevant for weighing the value of 2pcT4 though. The proc can happen just before our pshift, so it's wasted quite often.

Why feed into the meta. The game is dead easy and u dont need to prioritize loot for any spec or class lmao.
There are guilds of all skill levels. There are a few guilds where the time it takes to clear the content is partly a function of how optimal their gear distribution is. Also, everybody enjoys getting stronger, and with good loot distribution, you make sure as many people get as much stronger as possible, giving people maximum average enjoyment from gear.
I would say so. You want good placement on items / people that will stick it out. Come BT/Sunwell you won't be having much fun.
