    I'm checking out leveling as prot paladin with my friend playing resto druid and I love it. He just moonfires stuff and they walk into my consecrate in these areas and with his thorns I do even more damage. I just wish I went blacksmithing since the server I'm playing on only has high level shield spikes for 150 gold. Really thinking of dropping my enchanting even though it's at 150 just to grab that for gear and shield spikes, because that's so much damage I'm missing out on.

    On the Libram I have to disagree.
    Do NOT go for either of these for AOE farming, but instead go for:
    Libram of the Eternal Rest (Rare: LvL68 - Sethek Halls - Darkweaver Syth)
    Equip: Increases the damage of your Consecration spell by up to 47.
    Since Consecration is unaffected by the AOE cap, this increases your damage ALOT.

  • @justthompson
    @justthompson 3 года назад +3

    Not sure if you are planning an Update foe this video, but since Conc is not affected by the AOE damage cap, the Libram off the 1st boss in Sethek Halls is Best, because Concencrate will be your Primary Damage dealer.

    • @justthompson
      @justthompson 3 года назад +2

      Secondly, Items like Cloak of Flames, Razor Gauntlets, essence of the Pure Flame, rely on you being Hit. If you are Level 70, AOE farming lower level content, you will not be getting hit often, Mobs will be Missing you, or you will Parry/Dodge/Block most of their attacks. It may be possible for a blocked hit to trigger the damage effect, but misses, dodges, and parries do not.

    Thank you for the guide, what I think would be great as well, is a guide for the people who want to roll a pally when TBC launches, but the absolute fastest way to hit 70. Mage AoE is hit, but would dungeon boosting in RFC, SFK, and potentially *still faster* than questing in the open world? Because if you're going to boost, then you're going to want to be at the front of the levelling pack as quickly as possible.
    Let's see a dungeon boosting guide for pallies who want to get to 70 as quickly as possible and ideally avoid open-world questing unless absolutely necessary. On PvP servers it's going to be an absolute bloodbath with alliance wanting to gank horde pallies non-stop.

    • @swiftjuice168
      @swiftjuice168 3 года назад

      1.) Dungeon farming (not being boosted) will ALWAYS be a faster and more efficient approach to leveling from 1-60 since we’ll no longer need to worry about Azeroth reputations or gear
      2.) Boosting will likely NOT be an extremely popular activity in the opening days of the expansion since most players will be concentrating on reaching level 70 and not spending their time boosting low level Blood Elves
      3.) As I’m sure you’re aware now (seeing as your comment is a month old), both new races are available to players at the release of the Pre-Patch, allowing for everyone to have the opportunity to reach 60 before the Dark Portal opens

    Thank you once again. I think that this will be useful for a stable exp income in addition to my dungeon reputation grinding strategy: I was just going to go to any place which I could find in Outland when not dungeon grinding (Have you heard of this strategy? Grind dungeons to get rep while skipping quests. This is to get the additional gold instead of exp reward at 70 to make getting epic flying faster), but with this, I should be able to cut my time and make it to the Nether Storm or Shadowmoon Valley and make 70 in an even shorter amount of time.
    Oh yeah that... a tip: Do EVERYTHING which you can to avoid doing any and all quests until level 70 as the exp will become extra gold by a significant amount; this will radically move you closer to that epic mount and shorten repeatable quests. But first, have fun! If you don't want to skip quests, then do so. I intend to do everything which I can to reach that epic flying faster, and this will provide a steady exp income while not in a dungeon.
    Anyway, THANK YOU FOR MAKING YOURSELF USEFUL AND EASING AT LEAST MY PALADIN BURDENS!
    Also, I would like to get your opinion on my build, @ legacy-wow dot com (trying to prevent this from being censored), in the URL after "tal=" in paladin talents, replace all those numbers with "0000000000000000000005025133503021022215010520530102000000000000" without quotes, would you tell my your opinion of this build?

      I've leveled several toons to 70 back in TBC, and they usually ding 70 sometime halfway through Blade's edge if you do appropriate dungeon groups for your level as well. Leaves you with all of Netherstorm and SMV to get quest gold, and trust me brother that is a LOT of quests. And if you're bringing up a fresh 60, then it's fine to do Hellfire and Zangarmarsh to get those outland greens. Player power goes up exponentially in like the first hour of questing in Hellfire, so you wouldn't want to make yourself miserable and just rely on dungeon drops. On the other hand, if you have a dedicated dungeon cleave group then that's also a good strat as you need to get the rep anyway, might as well do it while leveling.

I mean, you have to consider that the current Classic prices will be converted into the TBC prices so the paladins will be able and will ask for so much more gold for boosting. p.s. this kind of farm so to speak that is practically relative to the realm economy is absolutely amazing

      Uther’s Strength provides a shield worth about 200-250 damage - these amounts will appeal to a lower-level Paladin (referencing your point of Classic) because you’re not as powerful as a level 70 Paladin (less Health and you’ll be taking more damage per hit) The other issue is that it only has a 2% chance to proc - so, with 100 attacks, you may see it proc twice.
      It’s interesting you say that Force of Will is better since it has only a 1% chance to proc and only reduces physical damage taken by 25 for 10 seconds, effectively reducing 250 physical damage.
      Realistically speaking, Uther’s Strength is superior in terms of farming/boosting. However, a level 70 Paladin should NOT use either of these if it means sacrificing level 70 trinkets (Goblin Rocket Launcher, Figurine of the Colossus, etc.)

      The Lifesteal portion of the shield scales at a 1:1 ratio with your spell damage. The AoE damage portion doesn’t scale at all with your spell damage.
      Overall, it is the best shield to farm/boost with. The only exception would be Force Reactive Disk because it would be guaranteed damage to all mobs on every block.

    • @swiftjuice168

      If you were to be silly enough to use the “Petrified Lichen Guard” for AoE farming, and be lucky enough to apply all 5 stacks, and then switch to another shield you run into a very big problem:
      You have to BLOCK an attack, which means you’re risking the damage you built up because you likely won’t block in time.

      1.) In the Burning Crusade, your block % won’t necessarily increase as 20% is actually pretty darn good at level 70 in Pre-Raid gear
      2.) In the Burning Crusade, every mitigation stat will be slightly increased
      3.) On the Attack Table, your block comes after Miss, Dodge, and Parry
      4.) The debuff lasts for 15 seconds (5 total ticks)
      5.) You have a maximum of approximately 7 attacks to block over 15 seconds, and much less if you switch the shields in combat

Keep in mind, most of us are considering solo AoE farming.. not having someone to heal us. I know some Vanilla shields have better AoE abilities. But also have lower armor and block values which is important not to be pancaked in Outlands.. also some of the shields have much less durability. Curious what shield you think is better. Right now, my damage meter has not been reset in quite a while.. ran several dungeons, did several quests, did some AoE farming.. and my poison from the shield is accounting for about 7% of my overall damage.. and I have about 225 spell power. That's a nice damage increase, and you really notice it. The proc rate is awesome. Not sure where you're coming from with all this hostility.

      @swiftjuice168 2 года назад

      @@joshuatucker2521
      I fail to see where my supposed hostility is in either comment, but okay.
      The best shield for AoE grinding at any level AND AoE farming is the Skullflame Shield.
      Let's look at the shields...
      Petrified Lichen Guard has a default Block Value of 62. It provides your enemies with a stacking debuff every time you block their individual attack. This debuff stacks up to 5 times, maxing out at 63 damage per tick (every 3 seconds) To achieve this, you need to block 5 attacks from EACH enemy in the pull. Each stack provides roughly 12 damage every 3 seconds. Now, the reality is that you will generally never see full stacks on every mob in your pull since they're more likely to die long before that happens.
      Skullflame Shield has a default Block Value of 53 - 9 less than the previous shield. Its first equip bonus is that it has a 3% chance when struck to steal X life from the target enemy. The tooltip says 35, but it scales very well with your spell damage. Theoretically, 1/33 attacks will proc this. On a pull with 10 mobs, that will come very quickly and it will seem frequently, too. It also provides a 1% chance to deal mediocre AoE damage when struck.
      As a Protection Paladin, I would NEVER suggest anyone focus on their Block Value while levelling. That number is completely useless for us. In fact, Level 70 Paladins don't worry about it, either.

    • @swiftjuice168
      @swiftjuice168 3 года назад +3

      The two best professions for a Protection Paladin regardless of role/play-style would be:
      Enchanting:
      - Farming: We can disenchant loot that would otherwise be pointless to sell to vendors because of low sale-price
      - Max-level: We can enchant our own rings with +12 Spell Damage or +4 All Stats which provides a bit of a boost
      Engineering:
      - We can make high-stamina trinkets (+45), one of the best helmets for raiding (Tankatronic Goggles), Dynamite, Ammunition for all of your Hunter buddies, various miscellaneous things like fireworks, etc.

    • @Toyhouze
      @Toyhouze  3 года назад +1

      Engineering has the force reflective disc while you level and big stamina trinkets as well as just nice utility items. Enchanting is my top pick though since you'll probably make your pally your gold farming character - being able to DE the loot for extra profits and you get the enchanting only ring enchants AND blood elves get plus enchanting skill as a racial.

      @@botched6518
      To further cement this, you need to investigate what the other professions can provide you as a tank in terms of beneficial aspects:
      - Blacksmithing: There is only one item that is sought after by Protection Paladins (Boots of the Protector) that is Bind-on-Pickup. Any other item that we may be interested in are all Bind-on-Equip and we can just purchase them from the Auction House or random people selling in Trade Chat
      - Leatherworking: The main reason any player picks this profession up is for the Drums. However, Blizzard has already acknowledged issues surrounding them and may implement a change. We’re not completely sure if that’ll be a nerf or just a change
      - Jewelcrafting: This profession is actually held in high regard - it provides gems with more stamina (Generally +3 - +6 stamina) and allows for you to make a couple trinkets (Figurine - Dawnstone Crab / Figurine - Living Ruby Serpent)
      o In Phase 1, the epic +15 Stamina gems won’t likely be available to purchase, so the “Falling Star” (+18 Stamina, Blue Gem from JC) will provide a slight boost initially. However, the gem is unique, so only one can be equipped at any one time providing a bonus of +6 total stamina
      o “Figurine - Dawnstone Crab” increases defence rating by 32 and has an on-use effect to increase dodge rating by 125 for 20 seconds
       You won’t need the defence rating since you will already have 490
       You’ll already be at the crush cap as well (102.4%) in the gear I’ll link below
      o “Figurine - Living Ruby Serpent” (+23 Intellect & +33 Stamina => 345 Mana & 330 Health) and has an on-use effect to increase spell damage by 150 for 20 seconds
       While nice to have, 345 mana won’t make-or-break you in terms of being able to use the appropriate spells at the right time
       The stamina is lower than that of the Goblin Rocket Launcher (+45 = 450 Health)
       If the spell damage were consistent, one could argue that this trinket would be worth a look, but unfortunately, it’s only on-use
