that line hit me hard too, and also when Coffey says "Mostly I'm tired of people being ugly to each other." Both those lines really got me sobbing, EVERY time I watch this.

The prisoner's relationship with the mouse makes you feel bad for him when he dies and it just shows no matter the bad things people do sometimes there is still good within them, awesome reaction Devin.
Re: the mouse's age - in the book, the mouse died at 64 years, IIRC, with the average age of a domesticated mouse being two years. The math was done on it, and it was concluded that Paul would live to be at LEAST 1,250 years old.
Dale r worded. And strangled a 12 year old girl to death in the book. In the book by Steven king. His death was meant to be a warning like justice. The movie they never said what his actions were making him forgivable. The book makes him out to be a horrible convict who does regret what he did but still deserves what he got.
I was going to make almost this exact comment. The only thing I would add is, Dale also lit the body of the girl on fire in an attempt to cover his crime, which in turn caught an apartment on fire killing two children and four adults.
This was one of the books that made me love reading, and one of the few films which did the book justice. If you're ever interested, Stephen King is one of those authors who makes reading fun. He was an English teacher before his first manuscript got picked up.
@@DevinGtv901 The ending is different. In the book Paul and his wife are involved in a road accident. Pauls wife is dying and he sees John under a bridge. He's screaming for John to help her but John turns his back on him. There's a lot in the book that isn't in the movie and I think if they had included that part it wouldn't have made sense, all in all its up there with Misery as one of the best movie adaptations of Stephen Kings books.
There are some great reactions to this movie on RUclips but yours is as good as it gets , your hatred for Percy Wetmore ( which is what he should have done with that sponge by the way ) is matched by anyone who’s seen this work of art of a movie , he has to be in the top 5 most hated characters is movie history , and the execution scene of John Coffey brings even the most hairy arsed of men to tears so you weren’t alone , I also think that Micheal Clarke Duncan’s performance as John Coffey was Oscar worthy , keep doing what you do Devin and we’ll keep watching 🇬🇧👍
This is one of my favorite movies. So beautifully made. Even Stephen King (he wrote the book it’s based on) said it was one perfectly. And Percy is my #1 hated villain. He is a despicable human being, but in a more closeted way than Wild Bill. Great reaction!
@@DevinGtv901 Percy. Wild Bill is evil and bat shot crazy, but selfish. He just wants what he wants when he wants it. Percy is evil and sadistic. He wants to inflict pain on that’s what he gets off on. And the fact that he is able to present well enough to get into positions of power is terrifying.

Every reactor that I've seen watching the scene of Dell's execution always says, "Why don't they stop it?" If you listen to the speech they give right before, they specifically say, "...electricity shall be passed through your body until you are dead in accordance to State law." They cannot stop it, or it would be in violation of the law in addition to subjecting the condemned to even more suffering.
That is part of it. I think the other part is that he was still alive, and stopping the execution at that point would just be making him live longer with the damage done by the electric burns that were inside and out, at that point.
I have seen this movie at least 30 times and no matter what i still ball my eyes out at the end. I cant get through it. This movie is a masterpiece. RIP Michael Clarke Duncan ❤
i never noticed how when he healed her she was given a piece of him as he stated so she had a feeling of what was to happen and so did he. They shared a moment of clarity that "it's not long now, don't be scared, you'll be safe" type of emotion
I love your reactions! I'm cheering and laughing right along with you. I've watched three of your reactions now and am proud to say I am now a subscriber.
The book had Hanks track back and realise that Wild Bill was the actual killer. John showed up and tried to save the girls but it was too late. In the book Hanks wife died in a car accident. That is when he learned he couldn't pass the power to anyone.
Not too many people pick up on the fact that when John and Paul first meet and John asked does he leave the light on? After Paul tells him that they leave one on in the corridor John extends his hand to shake his hand so right off the bat they’re establishing, that a handshake is man’s word. And then during the execution of John, the last thing Paul does is extend his hand to John to show him respect. I think that is extremely powerful and I have yet to find any reactors that mention that connection of the handshake.
Hey, Devin, sorry I got to your reaction a bit late, but it was a beautiful one. I read Stephen King's novel before I saw the movie, but even though I knew what the story was about, which also was a tearjerker in the best way, this film always gives me a tears river face and your responses and expressions were completely linked with mine. So many thanks for sharing this.
I really, REALLY enjoyed your reaction to THIS FILM. I enjoyed your feelings about the character of Percy. I REALLY ENJOYED your reaction to JOHN COFFY'S character as well (you showed your EMOTIONS, even before he was, WRONGFULLY, executed). Great job, Devin 👍
“You obviously know he’s not a f’n killer, let him go.” There was nothing they could do, unfortunately. Sure, they could have let him escape and run, but to where, for what? He was always lost and scared, “tired of being lonely as a sparrow in the rain.” He preferred death over that.
The scene that moved me the most is when Hanks offers to let him go. “Tell me what to do John” “ on the day of my judgment when I stand before God and he asked me why did I kill a creation of Hid such as you? What am I going to say? It was my job?” I’ve often wondered how many na.z.is might have thought the same thing and I hope they got their just answer.
Nobody comments how it's Wild Bill's voice talking to the girls at the very beginning of the movie, but the screen is black and it's before the viewer is introduced to any of the characters.
I just wonder how old John Coffey was. If the mouse & Paul got only a fraction of him & lives that long then it stands to reason that John's not the age that we think he is. Also, something that sticks with me is the "kill with their love" quote. Paul kills John with love.
*If You enjoyed my reaction please leave a Like. That really helps out the channel*

You NEED to watch The Shawshank Redemption! 😊
That's probably the greatest movie of all time, that's a good to see people react to who have never seen it.
Is that a good watch?
@@DevinGtv901 one of the greats.
@@DevinGtv901 it's AMAZING. You would love it. It's also based on Stephen King writing, just like this one.
Is it good? Is it as good as this? I mean is Percy in it? If so , I’m watching 😂😂lol
I saw this twice in the theater, then I got the book, read it, and went to see it again (it's an almost perfect translation of the book). Movies like this come once in a very long while. The acting, the story, the music, the...well, the everything. The Green Mile is one special film. RIP Michael Clarke Duncan, you're still missed.
John Coffey = JC = Jesus Christ
Paul (tom Hanks) = Pontius Pilate
🤔🤔🤔 interesting Theory
@@DevinGtv901if u didn’t catch on like when Jesus got crucified one of the other person ask Jesus if he repents to be saved and the other one didn’t in a way like this movie where dale in a way the guy who wants to be saved and the other did not
@@DevinGtv901I read that Stephen king once said in an interview that he wrote the short story about what would happen if Jesus was born as a black man in the 1920-1930’s in the South.
I thought it had something to do with the George Stinney Jr. incident. At least John was a big dude. But that incident happening to a child is truly traumatizing to think about.
Close but no cornbread.
I am so glad I came across your reaction to this. I cry every time I watch it and still love the good guys and properly dislike the bad guys Wild Bill and Percy got what they deserved. ❤❤❤❤ loved your reaction.
Masterpiece. John's smile just melts my heart, RIP. I think everyone jumped out of their seat cheering when Brutal hits Percy after what he did to Dale. Yet no better karma/fate than Percy's end. Let the tears flow, no one leaves dry eyed. Wild Bill whispering to the grls is absolutely terrifying. John was a miracle himself. Thanx so much, Peace
@Devin G in time you will come to understand the only movies you remember are the movies that move us emotionally. Terrific film, amazing acting. Good to see you feel the movie as much as you did :) terrific reaction
That's such a true statement.
@@BM-hb2mr thank you
And just think of this, The normal life span of a mouse is 2-3 years! Great Reaction, Thank you!
Breaks my heart every time I watch it.
I was just looking for something to watch and here's my dude Devin!
Right on time!💪🏿💪🏿
The prisoner's relationship with the mouse makes you feel bad for him when he dies and it just shows no matter the bad things people do sometimes there is still good within them, awesome reaction Devin.
This is what i call a soul crushing movie. Not many out there, but there are some that just make you cry...
RIP to Michael Clarke Duncan who was amazing as Coffey and Michael Jeter was also great as Del.
I couldn't believe when I found out that Del played Mr. Noodle on Sesame Street. A testament to amazing acting.
One of the greatest reactions ever... watching a legendary film.
Big bro always gives the best reactions!
Greatly appreciate it
I couldn’t do their job, but it would be comforting to know that those who guard prisoners are compassionate and human.
Is the movie similar to the book?
Stephen King book adaptations are usually really well done. Half the time he wrote the screenplays too, or had influence.
@@DevinGtv901You need to see Carrie!!!! Great movie. I'm not sure if it's Stephen King's first book.
I read this in 12th grade, suggested by my Dad.💚💚💚
"I'm tired of people being mean to each other".....me too John !!!!
This is one of my favorite movies. So beautifully made. Even Stephen King (he wrote the book it’s based on) said it was one perfectly. And Percy is my #1 hated villain. He is a despicable human being, but in a more closeted way than Wild Bill. Great reaction!
Who did you dislike more, Percy or Wild Bill?
@@DevinGtv901 Percy. Wild Bill is evil and bat shot crazy, but selfish. He just wants what he wants when he wants it. Percy is evil and sadistic. He wants to inflict pain on that’s what he gets off on. And the fact that he is able to present well enough to get into positions of power is terrifying.
Great movie and great reaction bro. This movie will make any grown man tear up. Great performances from all of these actors
This has been the most sincerest reaction to this movie. Chokes me up every time 😊
This by far was the best reaction to this movie I have ever seen, and I’ve seen 100’s. You picked up on the little things that explain the movie. Thank you
You've watched 100's of reactions to "The Green Mile"? Bro go outside... Covid is not gonna kill you. I promise. I've watched my fair share of reaction videos, but I work 40+ hours every week, bowl in a league and still manage to get laid. If you're watching 100's of reactions to this movie alone, I suggest getting a dog or something. Just don't forget to feed it due to watching RUclips.
@@DonRoccoRicardo Thank you for your concern of how I live my life and since you are so concerned, I will explain. My husband and I retired 3yrs ago at age 52, OWN our home outright, I get laid often, had COVID (not afraid), have a dog that is very well taken care of, travel the country in our 5th wheel any time we want. My life is totally fulfilled. However your unnecessary comment shows how unfulfilled your life truly is. Keep working your 40+ hours a week and don’t forget the bowling league. You’ll grow up eventually. Have a great day
Great reaction. The Green Mile belongs in the top 10 of Best movies ever made imo. I believe the world could be a better place if everyone watched it.
one of my favorite movies always nice to watch it again.
I just enjoy the first part. Happy to see the second part already here. Thanks. ;)
Glad I could deliver so quickly. I hope you enjoy
@@DevinGtv901 Yeah we are on the same page. 😁 C u 😉
You're on It bro. Just watched the first part. Keep grinding brotha. Enjoy your content. Thanks
One of my favorite movies and I still cry every time 😢
If there was ever a top to bottom movie masterpiece. Where everything and everyone did such a wonderful job. This movie was FLAWLESS!
Hey DevinG, your reaction to The Green Mile is the best reaction I've seen to this movie. I hope you check out Only The Brave with Miles Teller and Josh Brolin or Jojo Rabbit. Both are GREAT movies. I love how much you hated Percy, but you gotta admit, the actor did a fantastic job to make you hate him so much.
From the Warden’s wife and onward, the movie is a complete tear jerker.
The Duality of Man. 😢
The Goodness and Darkness ever present.
Mr. Coffee awesome actor. An expendable too.
I loved this movie. Michael Clarke Duncan was fabulous in this film.
beautifully done dear! I cry everytime through this... beautifully done
Great reaction brother. Of course everyone cry’s watching this film. It’s just too heavy not so much sad. I didn’t even realize I was crying and the tears were hitting my hands folded in my lap.
All the actors played there parts to perfection. A top 3 in my book!
I’ve never ever watched this movie without crying
Just want to say you are so real and honest in your reactions. Regardless of your language, you, sir, are a wonderful person and I hope you stay around for a long, long time
to exaggerate his size they had Mike Duncan walk on a narrow platform to increase his height. but he IS a big man!
They did a damn good job cause he was huge asf lol
Yours has to be one of my favorite reactions to this movie, particularly to Percy! Thanks for a great reaction video. :)
Been waiting for you to see this bro. God bless Devin. Wonderful reaction
Appreciate it fam
Thank you for letting me watch this with you.
That was the best heartfelt reaction ive ever seen , you're a beautiful beautiful man. Aussie girl x ♥️
I cried too lol, 😆very good movie.
I can’t see how a person don’t cry to this
@@DevinGtv901 👍😉
Every reactor that I've seen watching the scene of Dell's execution always says, "Why don't they stop it?" If you listen to the speech they give right before, they specifically say, "...electricity shall be passed through your body until you are dead in accordance to State law." They cannot stop it, or it would be in violation of the law in addition to subjecting the condemned to even more suffering.
That is part of it. I think the other part is that he was still alive, and stopping the execution at that point would just be making him live longer with the damage done by the electric burns that were inside and out, at that point.
And if Dell survived the first attempt then the state cannot try to do it again. They cannot execute an ill man.
This is a beautiful and sad movie at the same time. It is one of my favorites.
Possibly the best movie to ever come out of Hollywood. It get's me every time. Fantastic acting by every single person who was cast.
great reaction Devin. Saw this at the show in 99 and the whole crowd was in tears. In my top 3 movies of all time.
If you dont cry at the end u have no soul . this is still one of my favorite movies of all time and i cry every time at the end . what a masterpiece !
Great reaction video. I've loved this movie since it came out and I can never get through it without tears. :-) Truly an awesome movie.
I've seen this movie 1,000x and I cry EVERY time! 😢❤
I love your reactions! I'm cheering and laughing right along with you. I've watched three of your reactions now and am proud to say I am now a subscriber.
Outstanding,, great reaction 😊, enjoyed watching and crying also😊👍✌️🇺🇸
The book had Hanks track back and realise that Wild Bill was the actual killer. John showed up and tried to save the girls but it was too late.
In the book Hanks wife died in a car accident. That is when he learned he couldn't pass the power to anyone.
All the guards met untimely ends, too, behind John’s execution. The young one, Dean, sadly, was stabbed in the throat.💔
I just found your channel today. Loving it! This movie tears everyone up. It's mercilessly touching
I love seeing your true honest opinion and your emotions it was awesome
This film never fails to break me. Excellent reaction ❤️
Great review ! And of course a great movie. Thank you sir. I was crying as well. Lol
Beautiful reaction to a beautiful film. Thank you
Greatly reaction my friend. Really enjoyed that.
You got so invested in this. That's awesome. Fr. 👍👍
One of my all time favorites. Glad you enjoyed it D. I enjoyed rewatching with ya bro
Been crazy busy lately. Finally had time to catch up with you again. Glad for that.
He had to 🤝 shake his hand first
Not too many people pick up on the fact that when John and Paul first meet and John asked does he leave the light on?
I loved your reaction to this move. I try to watch everyone's reaction to this movie and I boo-hoo cry every time
First time watching a reaction from you. Instantly subscribed. Keep em comin!
I’ve seen this film many times. And I’ve watched a fair few reactions to it too. But this was the best reaction I’ve seen.
What a wonderful reaction Devin!
Its a really good read also
“You obviously know he’s not a f’n killer, let him go.” There was nothing they could do, unfortunately. Sure, they could have let him escape and run, but to where, for what? He was always lost and scared, “tired of being lonely as a sparrow in the rain.” He preferred death over that.
i always wondered if the necklace was the only gift he'd ever been given...besides the food.
I’ve seen this movie so many times and I still bawl my eyes out! Such an amazing film.
Thumbs up for the video and for not cutting the best and imimportant dialog at the end 👍
The scene that moved me the most is when Hanks offers to let him go. “Tell me what to do John” “ on the day of my judgment when I stand before God and he asked me why did I kill a creation of Hid such as you? What am I going to say? It was my job?”
I’ve often wondered how many na.z.is might have thought the same thing and I hope they got their just answer.
One thing John also did was to protect the mental patients from Percy’s indifference if he transferred to the mental hospital for work.
The mouse was at least 64 years old in the movie.
A typical mouse lives ~2 years.
Nobody comments how it's Wild Bill's voice talking to the girls at the very beginning of the movie, but the screen is black and it's before the viewer is introduced to any of the characters.
My primary motivation for watching this was to watch Devin rage out over Percy lololol
Such an amazing movie!! Great reaction!!
Great Reaction my friend
I just wonder how old John Coffey was. If the mouse & Paul got only a fraction of him & lives that long then it stands to reason that John's not the age that we think he is. Also, something that sticks with me is the "kill with their love" quote. Paul kills John with love.
One of the best reactions i've seen. Liked and subscribed.
