The first couple movies are more suited as kids movies, they get more mature and dark as the series goes on and the actors get older.

This movie series is crazy because we pretty much grow up with the characters when we first watched it

Trust us, keep going. The kids grow up as the movies progress, and as they grow up the story gets darker and darker and they get to be better and better at wizardry and they mature. These movies actually deal with some very adult themes as you get into them.

Though written (And the books are *INCREDIBLE)* for children, they are hardly limited TO children, and watching the Characters as THEY grow up, and the way the story matures (ie, become much more adult/serious) is excellent for all audiences/viewers.

I love this series. The world building is incredible, the detail is insane, the acting sublime. I have seen each film many many times. I am 68! I am a child of wonder. You will LOVE this series. Please oh please watch them all. ❤

Each movie gets better, the story grows more complex, and the final movies are quite mature and dark.
62 years old and I love this series. There's a reason Harry has to go back to his Aunt's house every summer but I can't tell you until later.
Ron has 5 older brothers. 2, Bill and Charlie, have graduated. Percy (prefect) and Fred & George are still at school. All of them have been Gryffindor. His sister Ginny starts at Hogwarts the next year.
In the book Ron was down on the chessboard just like Harry & Hermione. The queen smashed him over the head with her stone arm and knocked him out.
Harry also didn't kill Quirrell in the book. He just kept hold of him, keeping him in pain until help could arrive. Harry passed out just as Dumbledore got there. Quirrell died when Voldemort left his body because the possession had weakened him too much.
Can't wait to watch the others with you. You'll enjoy this whole series Devin!
The movies get darker as they go and the kids are getting older. Can't wait to take this journey with you
It definitely keeps getting better, as the story goes on and the characters and actors grow up the story itself follows that. And with out spoiling anything you’ll see the shift when the movie mature
In the books, there was a lot more physical fighting, like punching and kicking head budding in the movies more relay on the magic

This is the version that released in the UK, where the book is called Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, It was changed to Sorcerers Stone for the American release which is why the actors were calling it the “philosophers stone”. Also 41:29 when Ron falls of the knights horse he actually gets cut on his face from some flying debris, and instead of over reacting like most adult actors would, he kept it together and finished the scene like nothing happened.

The Philosopher's Stone actually comes from the Medieval "science"/philosophy* of Alchemy. IIRC, it was the ultimate goal of alchemists to create this stone, which was believed to be able to transmute base metal (i.e. lead) into gold, as well as be used to give the alchemist immortality. I've read some things that say this was actually meant to be a metaphorical, *spiritual* process rather than a for-the-reallies physical process, but I've also read the opposite. And in fiction, it is usually meant to be the physical process.
In any case, it was believed that using its actual name of "Philosopher's Stone" would be confusing to American audiences, so it was changed to "Sorcerer's Stone" for the American market -- both the book and the movie.

FYI, the Mirror of Erised is actually the Mirror of Desire, spelled back to front! I only had boys and read all the books to them as a bedtime story! Then the films, one a year to year and a half between, do you have any idea what it's like to curb the mania of 6 little boys between releases. You at least have the luxury of seeing them one after the other. All I can say to you is, Welcome, to the wonderful family of Potterheads. You belong!!!😊

If they did something naughty, I would make them all sit and wait for me to scold them, what they didn't know is that I would go into the bathroom and shove a hand towel in my mouth to stifle the laughter! They always thought I had been crying.
To answer your question about the wand givin to harry and the quote from the Wand maker. No not every wand has a twin or a brother. Harry has a special wand as his and its brother were both made from the feather of a pheonix the same pheonix. No other wand or wands are like this.Hope this helps!
The philosophers stone isn't just based on this movie, it was also apart of our real world history along with the real life Nicholas the alchemist.
Just like the characters (&actors) the older they get , the darker and more real life struggles (as real as magic i guess) the movies get. I don't mind the first 2 movies but it just more child like, from the third movie onward I've loved it

I can’t believe you’ve never watched this. Harry Potter is a great series. It’s right up there with Lord of the rings. I think you’ll enjoy it but it’s eight movies. Don’t miss one of them.

So in the book, Ron is not on the horse. He’s standing like the other two. So when he makes the move for Harry to win, he actually gets smacked hard across the head by the queen. He gets knocked out and the queen drags him off the board to the side. So it kinda makes sense they wouldn’t want to do all that in the movie.
Why the f is your beard so perfectly aligned with your lower lip. That line is clean! Damn. 1:27 dumbledore doesn’t even have those perfect lines with magic

Just gotta say that wands don't have an evil counterpart; Harry's and Voldemort's wands have a Phoenix tail feather as the core which was given by the same Phoenix, which is why they're called "brothers"

Re Harry's wand being the "brother" to Voldemort's.... It's not that V's wand was the opposite of Harry's, it was that they shared cores from the same rare source. Wands have a magical core inside the wood -- unicorn tail hair, dragon heartstring, etc. Mr Olivander said that the core of Harry's wand was a phoenix tailfeather, and that that particular phoenix gave only one other tailfeather to be used as a wand core, which was in the wand that Vildemort had. The wands had the same rare, magical "parent," so to speak, and so they were "brothers."

My favorite part of TV growing up was watching my brother's reactions, now I get to watch adults react to fun movies/shows. I could turn off the sound and LOL at your facial expressions.
The first two Harry Potter movies were directed by Chris Columbus, who also directed the Home Alone movies, which explains the childlike wonder of the Wizarding World. I look forward to seeing you react to the rest of the Harry Potter franchise!
I recommend Harry Potter & The Deathly Weapons as a watch. Someone took this movie and edited all the wands out, replaced them with guns. "You're American, Harry."

I like to imagine ron would have gotten hurt even if he got off the horse, like by being the piece he entered some sort of contract. Cuz the sword didnt even hit him, it hit the horse but he screamed bloody murder from a 4 foot fall

I really hope you continue with the series. Each movie gets darker and darker.
The films and books begin getting much more mature, complex, and darker with the third and fourth entries, each in their own way. Anyone who ever gives this series a chance and at least mildly enjoys the first two would be making a mistake not watching through at least the third film before deciding if it isn't for them. There's a pretty huge tonal shift after the second one, with the first change of director, and it tends to be most people's favorite, so if it doesn't win you over by then, it probably never will.
Once you started this journey, the rest of it is a must watch. It gets better like you wouldn’t believe.

I remember when I finished watching the Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter series, I asked myself "What the hell will I watch now?" It's a good thing the MCU came into play but after End Game, there's nothing else.

Loved this reaction! You teally must finish the series. The books came out when I was in my teenage years so I was a little past the target age. And never watched the movies until I watched them with my daughter. We eventually read the books to her and got caught up by the time the last two movies came out. Its definitely an experience.

Bludger, not bugger, Wood was jsut saying that the Bludgers are "nasty little buggers," which is a way of saying how brutal and pesky they can be trying to knock you off your broom during a match.
it was interesting for me to watch the first time and realize i already knew multiple things and people from the books/movies before i discover Harry Potter... Nicolas Flamel was a real french person with an alchemist reputation.. he was known as having created the philosopher stone which can give immortality and change metals to gold. Caput draconis is at the head of the constellation Draco. The book/movie is named sorcerer's stone only for americans, in the rest of the world it's philosopher stone.. It was an edition house decision to name it that way because they thought american kids wouldn't get attracted to the book with the word philosopher, while sorcerer sounds magical. But fun fact: actually in french the movie is called "Harry potter at the sorcerers school'' while the book uses the word philosophale. In the book they have cards of Merlin and Morgana Lafey who are from the Arthurian legend.

Trust me, the series gets better and darker once you get to the 3rd film 'Prisoner of Azkaban'. Alot of people end up dismissing the Harry Potter films based off the first 2 films which are mostly just for the little kids. You just gotta stick with it. It gets sooo much better.

The best thing is it starts as a kids movie/book but it gets darker with each new book/movie... very dark!
