Devin, the reason you see a lot of Deadpool references to Wolverine & Hugh Jackman is because Ryan's best friend is Hugh. In the comics, the two of them basically hate each other, but the movie references are for poking jokes at Ryan's buddy.
Actually it's because it's a relaunch of the Deadpool character after they screwed it up in X-Men origins Wolverine . Ryan became buds with Hugh because of ex-wife Scarlett Johanson.
Deadpool doesn't hate Wolverine. Wolverine hates him though. Like, actually hates him.
It's the People magazine thing.
This is like all the other real-life references to the franchise, the studios, the budget... and of course the real-life actors and media presence. This running joke insinuates that Hugh Jackman is jealous that his "Sexiest Man Alive" title (and making the cover of People magazine) was taken by Ryan Reynolds. Hugh Jackman won the vote in 2008, and Reynolds in 2010.
One could argue Deadpool and logan are the only movies since avengers to make money that contained diverse/homosexual race swapping females... (correct if I'm wrong on Disney's box office stats) in the comic books they had brutal fights...

Not only is the actor for Deadpool best friends with the actor for Wolverine in real life;
But in the comics Deadpool and wolverine were created from the same Weapon X program and were actually best friends in their own messed up and animalistic ways.
Both have no problem with slaughtering bad guys; they’re both gruesome anti-heroes with horrific backstories. So naturally, they gravitated back to each other after the Weapon X program and grew a bond together.
Leslie Uggams plays Blind Al. She’s a terrific actress, starring on Broadway, TV, and movies since the 1950s.
My roomies and I saw this on opening night, in the theater. I was wearing a Deadpool hoodie...with a Green Lantern t-shirt underneath!
I get a huge kick out of the part where Deadpool says "Wait!! You're probably wondering why the red suit? Well, that's so bad guys don't see me bleed. This guy's got the right idea, he wore the brown pants."
I swear, Ryan Reynolds was born to play Deadpool. He nailed the character so damn well.

In 2004, Marvel released Deadpool and Cable issue #2. Cable asked Deadpool what he really looks like underneath the mask; to which Deadpool literally says:
“Like a Shar-Pei mixed with Ryan Reynolds.”
Ryan Reynolds had been introduced to Deadpool comics when Blade originally came out in 1998, so just 6 years after reading Deadpool comics for the first time;
Ryan Reynolds read Deadpool and Cable issue #2 only to see Deadpool genuinely say “I look like Ryan Reynolds mixed with a Shar-Pei.”

Absolutely no one else could have played him. In canon marvel comics, he genuinely looks like Ryan Reynolds and says he looks like Ryan Reynolds. Ryan Reynolds was the only person who could have done this right.!
The only reason no one told Deadpool where Francis was is because they didn't know that was his name, they only knew him as Ajax.

Actually, he was a genuine mutant. Originally, before Fox cut more than $10 million USD out of the movie budget, Ajax was supposed to be surrounded primarily with mutated super slaves; the very ones the program he’s in charge of make.
But because Fox cut $10 Million USD from the budget, a lot of stuff had to be removed from the script; one of the biggest cuts was all the random mutant super slaves guarding Ajax.
They were reduced to only 2 mutant followers and the rest just normal soldiers. Angel Dust, the super strong woman, and the random dude who survives being shot in the head on the Highway. They’re the only 2 in the movie other than Ajax with mutant abilities on the enemy side.

Don't know if anyone else has mentioned this, but during the Deadpool Rap montage, Wade kept using Ajax's real name, Francis, while everyone probably would have known him by his alias - hence why it takes him putting the hurt on Agent Smith to get anywhere.
Thanks for the reaction! And yes, you can light a match with your fingernail if it's not a safety match. The ones that are in the paper packets and have a cardboard stem, like what you find at a bar, those you can't. But the big boxes of matches with the wooden stems you should be able to. 🙂
That wasn't Baraka from Mortal Kombat. That was another version of Deadpool that Ryan Reynolds played in his wolverine origins movie.

Wolverine and Deadpool come from Canada. Both were Mercenaries on several teams of Assassins. There team was Alpha Flight.
Fun fact: they used Spfx to add facial expressions to his mask (eyebrow raises, furrowed brow, etc) as it wasn't possible with the actual mask. Best movie ever
@Devin He was always a anti hero and he talks 24/7 like Spiderman, just 100% more crazy and unhinged. This film was a treat and hopefully Hollywood can now see they can do R rated "Super Hero" films and make good money if they leave the source material as dark as it always was.

So the Joker went absolutely ballistic insane, doing whatever he wanted because he fully realized that’s exactly what the audience of his fake universe wanted. They wanted to see him be an insane clown, they wanted him to do the terrible things he did. Which is true.
That’s why comic book readers in our universe read Batman and Joker comics from DC. They want to see the messed up things Joker does, and they want to see Batman be the hero who triumphs.

I have watched numerous reaction videos of Deadpool and have looked online for a list of "easter eggs" for this movie, and NO ONE has pointed this out. I just now noticed the name on the pizza box "Feige's Famous", and believe it is a reference to Kevin Feige who is the producer of all of the Marvel Cinematic Universe movies.

Yes !, I saw this in the theater and I had sore stomach muscles from laughing so hard. Along with WATCHMEN (2009) (which is my favorite superhero movie) this is the other superhero movie mostly made with ADULT audiences in mind. : D

They managed to capture the essence of all of the characters and concepts in them.🤪
In the comics and wade was experimented on. He was given a cocktail of mutant abilities. Wolverine was the main genes they were working with. Part of the project x program to create super soldier and or slaves.
So deadpool has this obsession with wolverine because of it. I think his obsession with Spider-Man comes from the same reason. He has enhanced reflexes on par with Spider-Man. I don’t remember if peters genes were a part of the genetic cocktail he was exposed to. But he has reflexes on par with Spider-Man for sure. As in able cut bullets in half with his sword.
I think I remember one comic where he has a teleport ability but I believe they retconned it and said it was just him moving super fast.
I love how this movie almost didn't happen because after they did the trailer, the studio passed on it. But one of the four (Ryan Reynolds, screenwriters Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, and Deadpool director Tim Miller) leaked the trailer online and the FANS WENT NUTS. COMPLETELY CRAZY that the studio didn't have a choice but to greenlight it.
Also, the references about the forgotten bag of ammo (or the fact that there aren't more X-Men) is because the studio cut the budget during production, so they had to save money somewhere

Now, you have to watch Deadpool 2 and Deadpool&Wolverine when it comes out.
Wolverine has a HEALING factor, Deadpool has a DEATH factor. Deadpool's mutation heals his dying cancer back to the point cancer.
It’s still a healing factor in the movie, though, lol. It’s healing his cancer at the same rate it’s healing his body. His cancer is technically a part of his body; the healing factor can’t tell the difference between cancer cells and normal cells, because both were present in the body when he gained the healing factor.
So because of that, the cancer uses the healing factor to spread rapidly, and then the normal cells use the healing factor to rapidly destroy the cancer and replace them with healthy cells. And then it repeats; cancer takes over, cancer is destroyed.

In the comics, Deadpool actually looked perfectly normal for a little bit of time after the weapon X program. However, randomly his healing factor disappeared from his normal cells; but seemingly remained in the cancer cells.
Over the course of a day or two, the cancer rapidly grew tumors all across his entire body, horrifically disfiguring his face and all his skin. That’s why he has to wear the mask originally.
Technically, he might have been able to die and stay dead eventually, but he inadvertently caught the eye of Thanos, because once his healing factor came back, it didn’t destroy the cancer.
Deadpool basically became one gigantic living cancer tumor, and the cancer would constantly kill him, but his healing factor would eventually kick him back alive.
During this time, Deadpool ended up falling in love with Lady Death, the living concept of Death manifested, who fell in love with Deadpool as well. Deadpool then started trying to find ways to truly die so he could be with Lady Death Forever, but Thanos was also in love with Lady Death.
He’d built a shrine to her, and it’s the very reason he originally even formed the infinity gauntlet. In the MCU, they humanize him by giving him a more reasonable belief system. He wanted to wipe half the universe to bring order to a chaotic universe. He was doing something terrible while having a somewhat reasonable belief system from the beginning. He wanted to end hunger, he wanted to end wars and suffering. He believed that leveling half of all sentient beings out of existence would give so much abundance that war and suffering would end completely.

In the comics he killed half the universe just to try and get Lady Death to look in his direction. That’s it. He was a massive simp for Death and wanted her to notice him; which she didn’t lol.
So when he saw Deadpool and Lady Death one day, he got so jealous and angry that he used the Infinity Gauntlets to genuinely banish Wade from death.
So he became a new Universal Factor, essentially. He absolutely can never die because of Thanos using the infinity gauntlets; he’s an infinite and never ending part of reality now.
The pizza box has the director's name on the front. When the radio changes in the first scene, it changes to the theme song from the Batman TV show. He keeps forgetting his duffle bags because the studio cut the budget. The actress who plays his girlfriend is married to the actor who plays Commissioner Gordan in Gotham.
I don't know if they're using any other birth control but in the first sequel she mentions that her birth control method was a IUD

All of the comments are partially correct. There are LOTS of tributes to Hugh Jackman because he was the person who actually stepped up and fought for Fox to make this movie. I'm pretty sure Hugh even helped fund the making of this movie.
Funniest shit is no one knows who francis is only ajax so when he goes around asking where he is no one has any idea who he's talking about😅
