Something about this feels very ME Andromeda about this but feels a bit more fleshed out. This game feels like it's got a lot of really good potential.
Andromeda suffered from horrible writing. I swear, a game with horrible graphics and outstanding writing will be an outstanding game. A game with outstanding graphics and cheap stupid writing will be garbage.
@@RandomWandrer even Cyberpunk 2077 had issues but it was more technical than anything else. The story was really good. The tech issues needed to be fixed.
I am fascinated by the possibilities of this. Thanks again for this exceptionally well-done content, Kala. You never disappoint with each new contribution.👍👍👍👍👍
it will be a couple of years before the game will come out and that means we will get a lot more info about the game in the future. I really would like another choice heavy sci fi rpg and the time delation idea. Game wise i think they only put time delay in certain narrow game points, like "go to system a b or c, which will take 8, 10 or 20 years for one direction" which could mean coming back your child (as you can have one) could be a teenager, in their mid twenties or older than you - anyone who knows interstellar knows how heartwrenching that can be. So i hope they do it right.
The pig has several cool easter egg references. 2 iconic pigs (Wilbur from Charlotte's Web like you show and Babe from movie Babe) from literature/movies. Love the fact the writers of this game are doing this, even in just the prologue
Thank for the cool video! I have noticed a mistake at the start though. They didn't flee Earth because of the Rot, that is something that they found in Lidon. The reason as for why they left Earth is unknown as of now.
This looks interesting; and yes; a SF game without aliens is boring. An SF game without friendly aliens is a lot more interesting. The idea that we've been goofing around with genetics and cybernetics is also interesting. I will hope they bring in some additional companions; and that several of them won't be human or human-derived. I can't blame the ME team members (several of anyways) leaving BW after the backlash for the end story of ME3 was blamed on them when it was a corporate board-of-directors decision. Although I didn't hate the ending of ME3 but I still think the original leaked ending would have been better; even though I never heard what was leaked.
That would be cool if that was the way We pick what Character we wanted to make. Yes it was a ton of choices on that Dating app for the Game and all I could think about if that was how we pick who we wanted to play as.
I feel as invested in this game as I am in ME5, thanks to you! I watched the interview with Mac Walters after your last upload, Kala. What I took away from it was that smaller, more intimate development teams made for better, albeit smaller, games. This made me think about BioWare's recent downsizing and solidified the feeling in the pit of my stomach that ME5 will almost be DLC-like in scope. It will likely be dealing with ME3 endings and become a new story arc launching point for games after it. Who better to cope with a story's mess than Mary DeMarle? What is your take on that?
2 things... Kala Elizabeth is provably my favourite RUclipsr I have discovered this year. They out out honest and passionate content I am particularly excited about this hame
Happy Holidays to every SCI-FI enthusiast, Kala Thank you so very much for this year content that you delivered, looking forward for next year i bet that is going to be HUGE on this titles. Happy Christmas Miss.Elizabeth, You are amazing!
Dayumn! Alright already, shyeesh. My current computer is FULL! I mean FULL!. I have no space left to download another game. So now I have to go buy a new computer for Exodus.
I'm a bit reluctant at this stage. We have had other brilliant plans, futuristic settings and glorious promises. So, I take this with a grain of salt. It's not as if we'd get the product anytime soon. 5-8 years I would guess. What we see is just pregenerated cutscenes and polished scenes. We had this before (Colonial Marines, Day before). I'm not convinced. So, let's wait and see.
The wealthy ark makes me think of the failed colony of Roanoke. While in the game, the rich are cheated out of their ark at launch. If they had not, there might have been a scenario where 90% of the settlers aren't properly skilled or prepared to do actual work. At Roanoke, the settlers had intended to hire "natives" to do their work for them. A handful of skilled crewmen were left to do the lion's share of the work. The wealthy were resented as useless "verbalists". None had science or agricultural skills. They set up on a peninsula in a swamp. They all pretty much died off. It wins the Darwin award for colonialism. The pilgrims who landed at Plymouth were working class, with skills in trades and agriculture and were prepared to work hard and work smart.
I am so hooked. The beauty of speculative SIFI is that it's very relatable. As for Starfield, the first I finished the story; I was so disappointed and angry because of the the way they hyped the game and what the game actually turned up to be that I felt the need to play Mass Effect just to wash Starfield off my brain 😅😅 Anyway! Exodus looks promising, and I really like the way they're marketing the game so far. I just hope that the final product can live up to expectations. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays 🎅🎅🤶🤶☃️☃️
This game seems like it has a solid story and deep lore. However the animation is very uncanny. It reminds me of those realistic animated movies in the early 2000s. I really hope they fix it when it launches.
I'm new to your channel and enjoying your updates on EXODUS : Become the Traveler. When I first saw the game trailer of Max I thought that looked like Jessica Parker Kennedy as well. Plus just recently seeing her play Medusa in the Percy Jackson Disney plus series she's excellent.
Hiya Kala. I'm a little late to the party having just binged through your last few videos and also your live stream with Paragon7. As always (I'm gonna sound like a parrot riding a broken record) your videos are fantastic. I was gonna mention something about the music from the Mass Effect 5 teaser after my last comment, but you already had it in the bag. From that video at the 5m 15s mark, I was stumped at what that piece of music was. But holy crap Kala your detective skills are top tier. And that's why I love watching your videos 😉 Exodus was a curiosity but once I saw your videos I'm definitely far more interested in it. Anyway, with that said, thanks again and I hope you have an awesome Christmas and New Year. Catch you in 2024. Oh and I held off on becoming a member so when I did sign up it would be my way of giving you a sort of Christmas gift... Ok, um...I should go...😅 Cheers 👍
Well done interesting break down as usual. About that pig: That's the one thing that strongly repels me from that otherwise interesting game. Animals "awakened" as depicted is unscientific nonsense in a lot of aspects, as well as being very problematic from an in-game commercial motivation aspect for that weird company that came up with the idea. And as you said, you'd love to have them on your ship to talk to. Well, I prefer to talk to species that have some history and therefor something interesting to say (like in ME), can climb stairs and ladders, can grab something, can ideally defend themselves, don't need me to carry them around, feed them, bath them, and preferably don't run, squeak, sh*t all over my ship or otherwise let their remaining instincts go wild (... and it would be bad to see, if they shove 30% of their budget into this to make it feel realistic, which would be really hard). So I hope they don't try to force animals on players as companions and that was just a "Let's try out this engine with something it's not primarily intended for and see, if we can make it believable. So we have to use a non-human being that has a real world representation to check our degree of success against. We can put it in a weird commercial so the work's not for the trash can." situation. Well, they got close, just failed on the eyes. Another minor issue they could have easily avoided: If you know anything about display technologies: It would be extremely difficult to come up with a display, where you can irregularly break off a corner, and have it still in working order (and there would be no reason to do so, as it's much easier and cheaper to protect the display from breakage). Wanna show a display's old: Scratch or crack the very top of the glass-like layer any way you like, crack and discolor the housing, add stains and dust, but stay away from the thin layer of the actual display electronics.
While I like aliens in sci-fi I think sci-fis that work without aliens are amazing... also I think with the celestials being more evolved humans I think that's a more interesting concept and would like that concept more expounded upon maybe we can see more evolved animals (aside from the awoken)... I think that if they bring aliens in, they shouldn't be humanoid they should be more like animals (kinda like the xenomorph)... I just feel like a celestial threat and an alien threat might be too many chefs in the kitchen... but it could be interesting if done right
This is a good concept for a game however I am somewhat disappointed with it as it follows a more Detroit become human type of game, where you play as a acharaxter from a different perspective. Bit I was rather hoping this would be a more mass effect type of mechanic where you craft and customise your own character and then play as them.
I dunno, maybe I'm just a staunch conservative, but - the idea of romancing a character like Charlotte the Awakened Pig is something I actually find rather disgusting. While I absolutely think relationships will play a part in this game (even romantic relationships) I think part and parcel of that is seeing how they evolve as part of the time dilation effect that is so central to the general conceit of the gameplay. Relationships imo matter in the same vein as seeing how a city might grow or a colony manages because of the choices you've made. I am really looking forward to this game, time as a narrative device is something I find rather underutilized (Possibly because of the fear of how easy it is to stuff it up), and it was something I actually hoped to see in Andromeda (imagine my disappointment then in this regard). I am looking forward to this game as much as ME5 or even the next Dragon Age.
I definitely did not mean romancing Charlotte or other animals like this. I more assumed it would be related to Alien species. Definitely have no interest in romancing a pig lol.
@@kalaelizabeth Haha, well, to be fair I know you didn't say it. I was certainly thinking it though after that Billionaire storyline where he has that dating app though and the options on display including Awakened. I mean, is it the same as just regular sex with a... pig ('regular') or is it the fact that Charlotte is sufficiently intelligent that moves that needle along. Personally, I think it's a very awkward and weird question for them and I hope we won't have to ponder it!
