Starfield did move me, because I really enjoy base-building and exploration. Exodus looks a lot more like exploration and solving problems... Which is also is fun!
@@blackhorde22to be fair, this company is fairly small enough to the point where it’s not quite a corporation that Bethesda and BioWare have become. Lot of great talent involved. Lots of reason for excitement, but it’s still best to be cautious
I thoroughly enjoy the Mass Effect Series. Exodus gives me similar vibes, which makes it intriguing. The worldbuilding, in the trailer and on the website, is already captivating. As far as more games in this genre, I'm excited about what's on the horizon. Thanks for the excellent video!
7:44 Changelings are allasomorph, sometimes colloquially referred to as a dauphin, was a vaguely humanoid anthropomorphic shape-shifting species. Star Trek Deep Space 9 has them. Their featured star is Odo.
I'm not sold on this yet, but I'll keep my mind opened and keep watching your content to make up my mind. Mass Effect leans heavily into the Star Wars type of space adventure feel, and tells a sci-fi story within that universe. Exodus seems to be a more hardcore sci-fi experience, which isn't a genre I find particularly appealing in video games. At the very least, I haven't played a game good enough to sell me on the genre yet. And there are environments that look a lot like ME:A's Remnant Vaults, which wasn't an aesthetic I look forward to go back to. Still, this is only the beginning of their marketing. We'll see.
@@DontuseMyRealNameYTplz1425 Mass Effect wants to have it both ways: be a space adventure where anything can happen, and be able to tell some serious science fiction stories when they feel like it. IMO, it succeeds brilliantly. But it remains a fantasy world where the eponymous science can be used to explain whatever the writers want, whether it's space travel without time dilation, space magic, weapons, shields, etc... Everyone has their own definition of what hard sci-fi actually is and I don't pretend to be an expert, but to me, at its core, Mass Effect is a space opera more than a hard sci-fi.
Also missed the fact that Peter F Hamilton has written two books for the Exodus universe, first one releasing with 900 pages on 19th September this year... Also Peter F Hamilton is one of the greatest sci fi Space Opera authors in the world right now.
The one and only future game I've seen that has the potential to match/beat the epic days of Mass Effect or Final Fantasy. Man we had it good when we were kids.
I like it a lot. I think my femShep for next ME playthrough will be called Maxine :) How the main protagonist would be hybrid of human and Celestial (who sounds to be sketchy): Maybe it means that we will get some kind of paragon/renegate morality system. Regarding the "robot" companion: We see in trailer that there is someone inside of it. There is mention of some companion, who has some alien virus. So maybe this will be combat suit of that guy. Maybe this guy would need to wear a suit whole time due to virus, so will be like Quarian.
That game is very beautiful. The graphics look nice and the story is promising. I am still wonder why Bioware can't release a proper trailer like this one. This is the game i look forward to play. Keep up the good work Kala .
BioWare lost it's soul many years ago, there is a reason why they haven't released a great game since ME3 (that's a decade now). All the core people left the company. And by 2019 the best talent was already gone. I don't really have high hopes for the new Mass Effect either to be honest. Exodus on the other hand seems to be making things right!
A new mass effect and a new sci-fi rpg the future is looking fantastic and as a fan of interstellar it makes me so happy to seem some of plot point’s transition into a story/gameplay
Companion 4 @ 14:24. Not a robot, looks like a human inside a mech suit of some sort. Could be someone who lives inside the suit permanently, maybe they're augmented or not able to live outside the suit.
I think that the actress that's playing Max is Jessica Parker Kennedy. Kind of recognised her from when she played Nora West-Allen, in The Flash series
I should've waited and watched more before commenting, because this sounds more and more interesting as the video goes on. Please keep us updated! I can feel the enhypening.
My first thought about Matthews character was that he may end up being like a "Johnny Silverhand" Esque dude given the description. Definitely the most intriguing title of the show.
Kala you’re amazing! Since I saw the trailer, I immediately understand that this game will be awesome!! Finally a new Sci-Fy Game, and I think will be really a good one, and you know have a little pig as a crew member? I’M IN!!! ❤
Aside from the Mass Effect feel, which may be due to the background music, those celestial beings remind me of the Guardians in the Borderlands series. This video was very well done.
This looks so promising and amazingly felt like it has a ME background , to be more specific Andromeda vibes. can not wait for more details about this game and more games from this studio.
This looks very promising, but after all the failures of the gaming industry in the past years, I can not get hyped about anything anymore. I will just wait and see. If it fulfills its promises, I will be an extremely happy customer.
That has the potential to make bioware sweat. With bg3, there's a chance that dragon age may be put under a microscope. If this game is a massive success that pushes the genre forward, it could be a similar affect on mass effect 5.
Sweating is all Bioware is doing these days. But yeah, people were probably going to be a bit more critical of DA4 anyway, due to how long it's taken to make, but Baldur's Gate 3 is really going to amplify that.
The aliens we've seen so far seem out of this world. I like to see aliens that are more down to earth. Like they are organic. Like Asari Krogan Turian Elcor and Hanar. The tone seems serious. I hope there's some humor. Maybe that is what the pig is for.
The timeline is mind-blowing and this overall looks fantastic. Also I noticed that with the outlines of the companions, the larger looking one looks like they appear as a mech dropping down. Either that’s them or the companion used a mech because it looks like it has the same outline structure at 14:24
Omg the literary references all over the place are my jam! Charlotte the talking pig! "Charlotte's Web" reference; yes, in the story Charlotte was the spider and Wilbur was the pig, so maybe a stretch. Still made me remember the story right away. And Aslan? As in the Lion from "Narnia" The Celestials using Jewish names for some kinds of angels. What references did you spot?
You really knocked this video out of the park, in earnest Ms Kala. The snippets of Exodus you so expertly edited into your video here, looks amazingly "Mass Effect'esque." I really like what we as never-say-die Mass Effect enthusiasts have to look forward here, potentially. Fingers crossed & all. Do you think Archetype would be so audacious as to hire Mark Meer & Yvonne Strahovski, to be voice actors in Exodus?!? Aahhh the possibilities! I should go...
Hmm the Celestials being just evolved mutated humans (what it sounds like at 10:10 to me) is interesting but also just the usual. Hopefully the celestials aren't the only sort of aliens this series creates if that's the case. But this is easily my most anticipated game along side the new Mass Effect and GTA 6. And hopefully Exodus and Mass Effect can coexist and adapt to each other for the years to come because they can both fill the void of the other when we have to keep waiting for them.
Oh, yeah. I don't know if anyone else remembers Larry Niven stories? I'm getting some serious vibes from him and his contemporaries. Bring it on, Universe!
It will be interesting to see what do with time dilation. I hope it's not just a McGuffin for superpowers. In real science it is only significant when moving, so maybe it will be used to mediate chapters.
Hope they go more for a mass effect 1 like experience. The time dilation is something that is happening to the player when he/she (?) travels between star systems with near light speed, so they experiecne a journey of weeks or months while the rest of the galaxy goes through 20 years. Writing wise this will be as huge challenge imo since you have to adapt and advance not just the story but the whole universe to match the new time where you come out of travel speed again. So my guess is they use it at certain junctions in the story. Well, lets wait for more info, it propably is still years away.
Man... Sci fi RPG fans (including ME fans ofc) will want this game to be like the BG3 of sci fi... and that's gonna be insanely hard. Pressure on the team is gonna be intense. I hope the game is great... what we know is looking pretty good!
My only worry with this game is the fact they want to set it up as a franchise and I'm hoping that doesn't mean this first game in the potential series is influenced by that decision by forcing it to be a set up for what's to come. I would much rather they focus solely on this game first and let the world building allow for sequels and have it be a more natural set up than a forced one because we have seen games and movies do this sort of stuff before where they have sequels planned before the first game or movie is even out and then the first in the potential series releases and it doesn't justify a sequel. Other than that I am really excited for this game, what they showed looks very interesting so far and I'm definitely gonna keep my eyes on it in the future.
Rinnin’ around looking for ancient artifacts that are the key to the future. I don’t know why mighty ones died but their stiff can surly save us alright (in MM’s voice).
All the info that came out after the trailer made me more interested in the project than the trailer itself lol, guess CG trailers don't really do it for me anymore, but the game sounds promising. Will keep an eye out for this one.
I can not express how long I have waited for a Mass Effect like game (Starfield was disappointing) with over 30 playthroughs and many many hours of Mass Effect played.. The only game I have played more than once.. I am excited to play this.
Great video! I'm really excited for this game as well! Also the Centauri cluster exists, or so I think, it's called the Omega Centauri cluster and it's about the same distance as mentioned in the lore here, I thought that was pretty cool!
Greetings from Ireland . I just want to say you are now my favourite channel. Absolutely love your passion for sci fi. I’m just going on 50 now and have been dreaming of a game like exodus . Admittedly I did love starfield tho, mainly because I do so many audio books ( all sci-fi space opera ) and was dying to be a captain of my own ship . I didn’t realise Peter f Hamilton had anything to do with the game til I saw your video and have been on exodus website all day . Thank u for your hard work ❤🤟🏻
That's so awesome! I've only heard good things about his work and can't wait to check out his Exodus novel in September! Glad you enjoyed the video I'lll be covered them with a microscope so expect more in the future haha. Greetings from the US!
I know it’s a partially unpopular opinion among mass effect fans but I would love some level of exploration/openness. Space and the idea of “travelers” screams exploration for the unknown and linear missions, while providing larger scale and set piece moments, alone are not enough to fully capture this theme. I would love a blend of mass effect style missions and a few small but packed handmade explorable maps on select planets. Starfield and no man’s sky capture procedural exploration in a cool way but I kinda just want mass effect with its amazing intense missions but also some hand crafted open exploration to capture that zen full free flow of something like botw, Witcher 3, and even dragon age inquisition.
I'm 50/50 on this. It has me intrigued for sure but I feel like its beats are to similar to the Mass Effect series. Even some of the gameplay shown give me Andromeda vibes. The space suits and the name "Travelers"(These are the Specters fr fr) aren't to my taste but maybe they'll grow on me? Having said what I don't like, the things that I do like are things like the lore and time traveling/skips. I'm a sucker for good lore and time stuff. Lore is what helps me get lost in the setting and I'm liking what I'm learning. Awaken animals, Humans evolving and becoming something not Human anymore, Time jumping. These things are my steelo when it comes to Sci Fi. Since its coming from some Bioware OGs that were the best part of Bioware I'm definitely going to keep this on my radar!!
They indicate you can change the time flow implying time travel as well as time dilation. Time dilation is relativity, the faster you travel through space the slower you travel through time. A good book while you are waiting would be, "the Forever War" by Joe Haldeman.
12:00 Totally agree. A game should not look hyper realistic, but should have its own unique art style. Games are art. To me, games that try to look hyper realistic are soulless and boring.
For whatever it's worth to gain a little speculation into this new universe: Elohim (el-oh-heem): the God of Israel in Hebrew, but can also be used as a plural to refer to other deities (akin to the word "gods"). Detenir (det-eh-neer): a French word meaning to hold or to have, typically referring to someone who holds power or holds a secret.
Huh, I was actually not too interested when I saw the trailer, since it looked like a fairly standard scifi action game, but if it's going to be something of a Spiritual Successor to Mass Effect, then I'm actually a little excited. Gonna need more info. At the very least, I'm more hopeful for this than I am Mass Effect 5, at the very least. Not to thrilled about McConaughey's involvement, though. He's a screen actor, not a voice actor, and more often than not they end up coming up short when working in a different acting field. Maybe he'll be one of the few who nail it, though.
I do appreciate that a game that’s likely only been in development for a year or two has more information, hype, and fucking gameplay than Dragon Age Dreadwolf
This shows you what creative minds come up with if they are free from corporate bullshit. I hope this turns outh to be a solid game gameplay wise. I have no doubts the story will be great with the talent working on it.
Well, I believe it when it is released in 5 - 10 years. Won't hold my breath. We had so many great concepts before which turned out to be nothing but lies.
I feel like Charlotte will be a companion in that she will be aboard your ship (or in your main base, whichever) that can give quests or manage things while you are gone but won't actually going on Exodus with you.
honestly what they showed did nothing for me but hearing that ex bioware and mass effect devs is working on it and drew karpyshin is a writer puts it on my radar I just need to see a better look for it.
This honestly sounds and looks fantastic so far! Currently suffering heavily from the Mass Effect Itch, and this has me excited, a lot. Looks like they have a well established story so far as well, companions sounded interesting, the theme is ofcourse great, the different factions and so on. Looking forward to seeing more from this game!
14:59 that looks like the “robot” that was blacked out on the website, now to me from this short clip it looks to have a person inside so could be an exosuit of some kind?
Well Frankly, a lot of major game developers have released amazing trailers that didn't live up to expectations when the game actually released this decade alone, so interested but wary until the game is actually released. Better to be underhyped and overdelivered rather than the opposite, which is much more common these days.
Couple things, the pig Charlotte isn't in the story under the video. It's a different pig Doris. Most likely the pig in the video is long dead given the immense time frames involved in this universe. They mention she's the first of her kind so I imagine and she was made to help a dying earth. And based on the spare parts story I don't think telepathy is how they communicate with awakened animals, as that story mentions a radio when the octopus speaks.
Definitely intrigued about this given the team and how Mass Effect-esque it appears. Wasn't really blown away by the trailer, honestly, but I think this has potential to be a BG3 type of modern rpg.
Im really looking forward to Exodus i love the Dreamworks/ Pixar esque artstyle the trailer with Tom Vargus is going for and the premise of the setting itself sounds really unique. I also like the look of the gameplay it looks like a mix of Mass Effect and Destiny especialy with the powers i cant wait to see more of it and oh man the extended story trailer hit me in the feels

MEA is what you are describing.
This peaked my interest in ways something haven't in a long time 😅 (excluding ME5's teaser)
For whatever it's worth to gain a little speculation into this new universe:
Elohim (el-oh-heem): the God of Israel in Hebrew, but can also be used as a plural to refer to other deities (akin to the word "gods").
HYPED FOR THIS!
Well, I believe it when it is released in 5 - 10 years. Won't hold my breath. We had so many great concepts before which turned out to be nothing but lies.
This would be sick as an open world like Red Dead Redemption. Picking up activities to help other players in their game joining clans etc.
I feel like Charlotte will be a companion in that she will be aboard your ship (or in your main base, whichever) that can give quests or manage things while you are gone but won't actually going on Exodus with you.
honestly what they showed did nothing for me but hearing that ex bioware and mass effect devs is working on it and drew karpyshin is a writer puts it on my radar I just need to see a better look for it.
its giving mass effect andromeda and anthem vibes...
Is this iP Open world Third Person with Use of Space crafts like Star field etc hope it has use of Vehicle mechanics traversal
This game looks interesting. I see a lot of inspiration from other sci-fi games that these folks have worked on.
Definitely intrigued about this given the team and how Mass Effect-esque it appears. Wasn't really blown away by the trailer, honestly, but I think this has potential to be a BG3 type of modern rpg.
I'm keeping an eye on it We just have to see how it lands. Yes we need more Sci-if Games and this and Squardron42 look good.
finally another RPG to be excited about
Uh huh... This has perked my attention. They got quite the talent on their side. Thanks for the heads up gamer.
This game looks freaking amazing.. ❤
Im really looking forward to Exodus i love the Dreamworks/ Pixar esque artstyle the trailer with Tom Vargus is going for and the premise of the setting itself sounds really unique.
I also like the look of the gameplay it looks like a mix of Mass Effect and Destiny especialy with the powers
i cant wait to see more of it and oh man the extended story trailer hit me in the feels
