A tip I would add is: 1) if you can’t set route for Quantum Travel either try “clear route” or Jump somewhere else THEN jump to your intended destination. If you have a tip you wanna add to this comment below, and I’ll add it if it’s a good one!
if you don't agree delete. but as someone that does a lot of guides in the guide system. The biggest lesson is NEW PLAYERS should AVOID box delivery missions. I've never heard a new player say that box missions worked, they all say "i started doing deliveries, i died, lost all my money and am going to ask for a refund."
Here’s a question, in the most recent update they made the gimbal targeting system very odd, now it’s almost impossible to use the gimbal to auto target a ship it’s like I gotta use the right atick to aim while also controlling the ships movements
I'm a new player and I've been through a lot of starter guides videos so far, collecting little pieces of info from each one to understand the whole because none of them was 100% clear and useful, but this one is the most logic and thorough I've seen so far. Thank you very much!
Such a great beginners guide. covered all the little things a new person needs to know when it comes to sc, ive got £320 in SC at this point and i even learned a few decent keybind changes! one thing that i think would have been a cool addition would be the clear route workaround if your star map bugs, as i suicided so many times when i was new as i thought i couldn't make routes or jump anywhere haha
As someone who is somewhat experienced with Star Citizen, I still continue to watch these beginner tutorials because even as an experienced player I don’t know everything and there are tidbits of information that I either never learned myself or was never taught and I actually learned some things in this tutorial that I never thought of! Thanks Berks for your hard work and dedication to being a positive community leader and teacher!

I just picked up SC and THANK YOU! This is _exactly_ what I needed to get started 🙏🏻❤️🤗🚀
Hey Berks! Long time backer since late of 2012 here, but not actively playing since around 2015-2016 isch. So I´ve been coming in for the IAE every few year now and it´s always a mess trying to get the grip of things when CIG have changed the controller and keybindings for basically everything every year. So, these videos that you´ve made for a few years now hand been tremendously helpful in getting me back into things! There are so many important notes that you highlight in these New Player guides that I never would have thought of if you hadn´t told me about them. So just thanks man! Thanks for keeping the flame going and helping new and old players alike into this amazing game! o7 Xoldus out!
I played this game the first time today and just wanted to test it out for 30 mins and I spent 10 hours with someone who played the game for 10 years because I shot a friendly npc got my ship exploded and spawned on hex. I asked for help and the community was awesome. Suddenly I was running from bounty hunters infiltrating a data station by jumping out of the moving ship to hack my crime history. We were assaulted by other players while doing so. After we both got our bounty cleared we went to area 17 to enjoy some food an purchase a ship for myself I got basically gifted. Crazy experience. Loved the detail. Also big props to the community
A little bit of something to add for new players! This game has a steep learning curve when you first log on. The harsh reality is you are going to crash before you land, a lot of this game is like that. However, you will be surprised how easy it is to learn and how fast you will learn it. It is one of those things where at first glance you have no clue what is going on, but give it a day or two and you will find yourself watching a video like this and be confused on how you learned all of this. Best thing like many things in life is to try to find someone that already knows the game to learn the ropes better, if you do not have anyone then just ask in global. There can of course be your usual stinkers, but most of the community is amazing and its hard to find a lack of players who are willing to help! Even so, I started off solo and it did not take long before I was comfortable enough to where I could do most PvE missions without causing my own death. If there is one thing I could tell you to always keep in mind. You can never approach a station too slow.... It is space, so sometimes it is difficult knowing how close or far something is, and also how fast you are going. And trust me... you think the station is far away... but they sneak up on you quick... Just keep in mind that even in space your ship carries a lot of momentum :) So main thing, prepare to spend time learning, but also know that it is not as insane as it looks the first time to see or hear all of this! Trust :)
I learned a hard way that you can never go slow enough in an asteroid field. I had a bounty in the middle of an asteroid field, it was pretty far away, had to travel like 10 minutes. I did the route four times. FOUR! I always crashed into an aszeroid that appeared out of thin air 😂
If would knew about all of it two weeks ago . Great job here Berks!! I will be showing this to every friend who will trust me and join to this game. I already bring two and still did not buy game :/ Short of all but I will no doubt. Had a great great time on this IAE free test time.
I appreciate you at least briefly touching on the Medical and Personal Transport beacons. I constantly encounter players who have no idea these exist because CIG hasn't introduced them out loud and most content creators shun them.
I've always understood "Personal" missions as missions that are unique to your player, whereas "General" all share a pool for all players to see. Being a primarily lawful player, I have played personal missions and never did anything shady. PI Wanted is a lawful mission. There's also investigations that pop up in there sometimes, or meetings with NPCs (Like the Miles Eckhart(sp?) meeting mission in Lorville).
The Voyage is the best general S1 QT drive. Gets you everywhere and is slightly faster than the Atlas, still dependant on the ships fuel, but good guide!
Really helpful video thank’s. I’m probably finally going to get a chance to play SC next month and I’ll certainly be watching this again then, to help me orientate. (I see myself working eventually toward a salvage career.) I’m a little worried about insurance though. How does that work? Particularly with regard to when you first buy a package. Also, I hope you don’t mind me picking your brains, I see you’re flying KB & Mouse. I’ve relied almost exclusively on my X52 Hotas. Will this serve me here? Or am I going to have to adapt. Then also… is voice coms only inter team? Or is it also local area if you have it equipped. Many thank’s for any advice. Badger
I cant seem to finish the initial tutorial , it wants me to fly to a couple of "checkpoints" in New Babbage, but when i fly to them im not sure what to do next? I see 3 markers on the ground, am i supposed to park in between those markers facing a certain way? It wont let me access my ship until i figure this out. Please help!
I just bought a 1440p lg 27 inch oled monitor and there is a massive difference between 1440p 27inch ips monitor. Anyway who really wants true black in outer space and crazy details and color highly recommend oled
Great guide. Been a while since i tried SC during free access and had to refresh my memory after actually buying the game. Any reason though why my Nomad's systems are overheating instantly after exiting atmosphere of Orison and starting quantun drive? I've seen people suggesting replacing coolers but i actually need to use my ship before i can afford it.
Little difficult to follow along with a guide when the audio and the actual in game actions and information don't match. ruclips.net/video/-O7AzkcRr2I/видео.html - two problems here: "Go ALL the way down..." - failed to say which section of the controls you were in after changing from Vehicles - Cockpit to Flight - Movement. "You will find a control called Call ATC" - No, no you will not. What you highlight in the video is Request Landing.
Not only that but he's starting with tens of millions of dollars, that ain't what we're starting with or at least me. I can't even afford the full armor much less the gun and other shit he got going on. Awful tutorial that actually probably just ruined my start.
Went out to do the Seize the Data for the first time after buying the game and got chased by some ships while trying to destroy the Black Kite. Accidentally rammed my ship into an enemy ship that stopped moving and absolutely obliterated myself before even completing the contract haha.
I bought the Mustang pack because they gave 120 months insurance with it. It's literally the worst ever ship and i hate it 🙂 Can't even do a single cargo mission, can't transport anything because it doesn't have functioning cargo
@@TheNaturathPL I upgraded it 3 days ago, i went with the Drake Cutter 😃 It's pretty decent ship so far, my only problem is that it's quite slow, but other than that i love it so far
@@Telesto_Timelost nah, the Aurora has a little space to put a few boxes in and do delivery missions till you get your credits up and get a bigger more powerful ship. Technically you do the same thing with the mustang but just do lots of bounty hunting.

I backed in 2013 but have only briefly played Arena Commander many years ago. Mainly interested in Mining, but don't have a Prospector or anything. I would probably consider buying one if I knew I could learn the mechanics without getting immediately used for "content" [obliterated] Is that possible or should I keep waiting for whatever security measures they may or may not put in?
If my ship is destroyed do I lose its components as well? Also, in the vehicle loadout manager, my ship has a red lock on it. How do I remove that? In regards to inventory can I store things on the station? For instance armor and weapons at my spawn point incase I die.
does your ship lose its components? Only non-stock ones (a.k.a components that don't already come with the ship). If there's a red lock on it that likely means the ship is not at the location where you are (cause ofc everything is local >_>) or hasn't been delivered to a location yet. Stations have inventory, but do keep in mind that that too is local, so if you go to say Station A, but your stuff is at Station B, you can't access it from Station A
I have never played a game on mouse and keyboard. It might be useful for some parts of the game and probably makes aiming easier. My preference for fps pvp combat would never be a mouse and flying the ships seems like it would be a bad experience. I would prefer learning how to use complicated flight sticks or some form of new controller for the flying and fighting. I hope input methods for high end games evolve into something better in the future. Just a outsiders perspective. Possibly I am in the minority with my opinion?
