You that's another reason why I think the new N7 might be Miranda. At the end of ME5 Liara gift thar she shaired why Shepard seems to be a bonding/mating meld. It's the same if Liara is a love intrest or a friend. With bioware past of basically letting Liara get way with well with no consequences on EVERYTHING! It wouldn't be surprising is bioware wrote that to be Liara "ace" to play when/if she seaching for or finds Shepard in ME5. Liara isn't suttle about trying to break up Shepard and another LI when they speak alone on the Normandy for the frist time in ME3. Liara creating a child with Shepard would set Miranda off on her own seach for Shepard who at the end of ME3 was working with the Alliance and wanted a child of her own. Now you could even put Ashley in that role if she survives ME1 and Miranda doesn't ME2.
The reason that she could not have a child was that she was created from her father's sperm. Basic biology tells us that all fetuses start out female. Then a switch is turned on and some become male. In Miranda's case since she lacked genes from her mother, she lacked the genes for childbirth. Add that to the other creepy Dr. Frankensteining thngs that her father did to create her, it should not be a stretch.
I don't know if I could help her produce a child, but I could help her produce a pool of sweat, a deep sense of satisfaction and stains on my mom's couch that would cause me to have to give my key to her house back for the 3rd time.
In the ME3 multiplayer DLC there is a character type called "Awakened Collector". According to their lore, they were a group of Collectors that were freed from Harbinger's control by Leviathans. They went on to fight against the Reapers as "avatars of vengeance" in the memory of the Protheans.
I wonder how that works. I just finished me2(now in post game), and according to Mordin, there's no longer anything there to save. Did he make a mistake?
@@maryrose2676 Retconning. Leviathan is an interesting DLC, but it is... strange, based on the lore to this point. It is possible, The Leviathans pulled these collectors over the last 50k years, potentially even immediately after the first of them were created, but it seems unnecessarily risky. Likely, it's just a convenient plot point to glob them onto, to explain access to them in MP. Which begs the question, why can't we also get a Prothean? If Javik's can survive 50,000 years, DISCONNECTED from an outside power source, there's got to be a few more lying around lol.
I still think its hillarious that in the Trailer the German News Anchor calmly reports on an invading force that has already destroyed a whole City while the french news can't even get their shit running :D
They did Wong dirty. I would have preferred seeing her as the one we could let on the Normandy and be interviewed by. Would have also felt like a full circle. I am so sorry to hear about your mom. I am in a similar state with my own mother being in Stage 5 kidney failure. I've been playing ME Legendary since August or September. It has helped me cope and work through my feelings with this new fork in the road. I have played it through seven times. Each time I say that I'm going to leave it alone for a while and play something else, I don't. I go back to it. These video games maybe just games to some. But they can help you find peace, blow off stress and just be if you embrace the the amazing stories and the characters that people are introduced to. My mom used to get mad at my brother and me for always wanting to play (heck we started in the 80s with Atari). I told her which one did she want us to do, play video games or out doing crack. She didn't say another word. I wish the best for you and your mom. Garrus is the man. I wish ME would let your take three folks with you on a mission. It's hard choosing between Kaidan and Garrus unless Kaidan is your man.
@@mljohnson6072 I'm sorry that your mother is going through that, and in turn the family. I'd say well over 50% of any gaming I have done the last year has been ME Legendary, got it free with PS+ and then properly when on sale. As much as I have enjoyed many games, including the MGS series, ME has hit the feels unlike any other. It's perhaps that escape, or comfort through the characters, or the emotional release, but I find myself drawn to it so much. So I completely understand the attachment to it. I've not managed so much emotional release in years and any who know things understand we all need a vent just as power plants do. Gaming is as much a mechanism for this as reading, music, TV/Movies, all of which have been a vent too for me in my life. I'm always saying how many videos claim I don't know all these facts about Mass Effect, and this one is the first where there were more than I thought. Noice.
Oof, that Citadel music always hits me hard. The first time you set foot on the Citadel, it’s just a stunning moment. Great list, thank you! It really highlights how fantastic the writing is, and how deep the lore goes, in Mass Effect.
The alien languages remind me of KOTOR. Maybe the original plan was to have minor npcs speak gibberish and to have the text act as the universal translation.
The asari "human history party" while I agree is icky is such a smart way to have a bit of more social commentary in the lore. Unfortunately very realistic seeming party
Grunt liking Hemingway may be less of a surprise than most might think. Hemingway was an avid hunter. Those who have seen “Predators” know the famous quote from Hemingway: “There is no hunting like the hunting of man, and those who have hunted armed men long enough and irked it, never care for anything else thereafter.” Sharks and Dinos? Yeah. Almost too obvious!😂
I think number 28 is a reference to the movie “Catch me if you can” and the real life Frank Abagnale, a con artist who impersonated an assistant state attorney general, a hospital physician, a Pan American pilot, and wrote a lot of bad checks to fund his escapades
One more piece of information about the last fact: me1 data reveals that encountering this artifact is a flagged event, meaning that it was intended to have some sort of impact or continuation in the sequels
Ezrabet Vidmar , to me, sounds like an analog for the real Elizabeth Bathroy, which is one of the names of costumes from the offensive Asari costume party. She was a Hungarian noblewoman in the late 1500's or early 1600's that tricked young peasant woman to take jobs at her castle. Like cleaning, cooking, etc. Once they got there she would drain, their blood to bathe in. She eventually was walled up alive as a punishment for her many murders. There are documentaries and horror movies based on her. Search Google and RUclips. Much may have been exaggerated by her political enemies. But, it makes a shocking story.
Ahhh The Blood Countess. Not often you come across references or mentions outside of vids, docs etc. About her. Karliene, if I recall, sung a good song about her. Just in case you didn't know and would be interested.
When I read the article about the asari college students dressing up as elizabeth bathory I was shocked about her history. Truly gruesome. The doctors name definitely sounds like it could be a reference
Superb job, Kala. I've seen the subscriptions quickly grow on your site. I find myself a habitual Mass Effect player, but couldn't put together what you have. Very well done.

One of my favorite hidden details is in the citadel DLC the ark of the covenant player you can only see it when you’re getting ready to leave that area of the archives you have to turn around and look back at a destroyed archive When you step into that archive, it says artifact found on earth always thought that was kind of weird and interesting quiet the species knew about humans away before we even discovered them more than likely the asari and the fact that they let the first contact war happen

The stuff about batarians leaving their government just reminded me of one of my favorite things about Mass Effect 3 especially; It’s just so damn hopeful despite how dark its plot gets. The themes of unity pose a really optimistic future for the Mass Effect universe going forward, and I really hope Mass Effect 5 shows us a more optimistic galaxy rather than “and then everyone descended back into war.”
Your Mass effect videos really keep me interested in the franchise. You have a great voice and rhythm, it's so easy to listen to. Some of this I'd seen before but some of it was still new. Interesting and light-hearted. Have an amazing new year.
Played this game so many I did know most of the top 50. Either it's #42 or #43, I need to think twice to handle Rana. Knew Meer's wife was the voice for creating your Shepherd, but Rana.I have a head canon for the perfect ME playthrough, ah dang how to deal with Rana now. I guess I'll figure that part. #51 if playing BroShep and get to the Citadel DLC and Blasto w/ Javik... it''s Mark Meer 3x. VA for Shep, the Vorcha ,and Hanar... really curious Meers that day he was doing all at once or in fragments. Awesome show Kala, thank you for this vid.
That was fun and informative at the same time, thanks Kala. Maybe some of these will crop up in ME5? I never read any of the info on my 1st playthrough as I was rushing to save the universe but got into it 2nd playthrough. There is a lot of interesting detail if you take the time, which you certainly have, can always rely on your videos for that. Hope you have a good New Years🎉 Kala and all the best for 2024.
Fantastic coverage! I'm a huge mass effect fan, but I didn't know most of these! Subscribed;l i've been binging several of your great mass effect videos. Really reignited my interest and passion for the series.
literally the best triology that ever exist besides Halo. Imagine beeing a human doing rugby / american football and face off against a krogan. Mf probably sents you to another universe
Does anyone else thinks that the metallic look of me2 and me3 look so good and realistic to the story?. I'm talking about the visuals of ships, walls, armor and weapons also the dark colors in graphics. New games look like plastic, they will have the best graphics but plastic visuals.
I can’t stand the Elcor’s ridiculous obsession with hamlet. It’s especially annoying in Mass Effect Annhilation(the Quarian Arc story if i recall correctly) Damn space horse literally claims hamlet wasn’t human and humans stole him from the Elcor😑
I'm not sure how translators work but if they aren't implants I think it would be cool to have a mission like the one in the citadel DLC where the new protagonist gets attacked and left without their translator and you get to hear alien language if that makes sense
There is so much more that can be told from existing lore it would be a waste to not use it in the next Mass Effect. It would guarantee engagement. But we all know what happens when there is a new writer. Maybe it's not such a bad idea to have the execs tell them what to do.
@@kalaelizabeth the first thing they need to do is not do anything that don't make sense. I've been watching a number of playthroughs new to the lore. An observation of Andromeda is the tempo for the Saliran's are wrong. The game has no feelings. No emotion.
Ok idea for a new video. This is a very different idea and view point. How would a Renegade/Ruthless view their crewmates? Let's be honest. Would Shepard want some of the on the crew? Allow crew members to just get away with comments they make? Examples. Miranda talking about a chip (especially if Shepard is a colonist) Garrus questioning orders Jacob insulting comments James inappropriate flirting Liara selfishness I can't remember the name of Aira's guard that claims to toss Shepard out of airlock after Shepard was brought back from being spaced. Even Anderson misleads Shepard Bioware reponces for Shepard are not rengende. Would a Renegade let crew and others just "steam roll over" Shepard like? Bioware just writes Shepard responses are like...Whatever I'm very interested in your opinion because you also tend to play Renegade. Most other content creators tend to lean Paragon.
this is a good topic and is something I think I'll explore further when I go more into a video exploring how I think renegade/paragon should be updated in ME5 since we have seen clues that it's returning!
How I saw it: to a ME Renegade, people are either pawns to aid your plans or pointless obstacles. Their lives are expendable and their opinions are just noise. A true Renegade doesn't care what the crew says or does, they might let them die tomorrow, so there is no point wasting breath lecturing Liara, reprimanding James, arguing with Garrus, or telling Miranda your feelings are hurt. Get info. Kill enemies. Complete the mission. Profit and move on. Renegade are too callous to give a damn for any squabble.
@Rafro96 that's not completely true. The renegade response to Miranda and Jack and Legion and Tali fighting were very harsh and very threating. Same with Shepards response to Jenkins wanting to "prove" himself. A Renegade would never let someone get away with disrespect. They would put someone in their place not just be Meh, whatever.
I love all of these. Who knew the Illusive Man had game? Also, how bonkers were videogame trailers back in the day, imagine just watching TV and that pops up? They should do more stuff like that these days.
Hey Kala, I was just thinking about the Andromeda initiative and realized just how dangerous SAM is. Javik talks about an alien race the Shatil that were taken over by AI that they made to interface with. Have you given any consideration to the idea that the Andromeda initiative could be taken over by a rogue SAM?
The reapers were a result of the cycle. Organics created AI and AI revolts against their creators. The star child warns Shepard at the end of ME3 that if he destroys the reapers his children’s children would create AI and the cycle would start over. While the Geth and EDI exist they are anomalies as the cycle literally repeated itself consistently for millions of years. The idea of a sam going rogue and turning on it’s creator is not far fetched.
I talked a little bit about SAM being the benefactor in my benefactor video and while I don't think SAM would do that, we know that SAM has a sense of self preservation and hides information, I think if we got a proper Andromeda sequel, a lot more could be learned about SAM but as of right now, I don't see that as a possibility.
@@kalaelizabeth I didn't mean Ryder's SAM the one we got to know and love. I meant a different SAM from another Ark. The Turian SAM and Quarian SAM both come to mind seeing as they were both compromised.
21 might be a reference to (ex) Prince Harry? he went to a costume party dressed up in a Nazi uniform and caused a huge scandal iirc. not sure if the games' release dates line up, though.
Probably the least known fact: SpaceX is in ME cannon/lore. You could infer that Elon Musk/one of his missions uncovered the Prothean Archive on Mars 😮
Awesome video I got a theory about commander shepherd. Still alive and what happened was Liara at the end of 3. Had commander, shepherd And. Taken away before the final battle. Because no matter what love interest you have have. She always is there and her cut scene when she combines. Minds with shepherd has no point maybe She took commander shepherd after knocking him out and the rest was a dream. After all, nobody really liked the end of mass effect 3. So this is a good way to redcon it.
Very ballsy to put out a "bet you didn't know this" video about a beloved game franchise that's been out for decades at this point. This is similar to putting out a video about the original starwars trilogy claiming there's still stuff people don't know about them at this point.
If you look at the dossier’s, Miranda struggled with infertility, and was determined to find a cure for it, because she would like to have a child

Your Mass effect videos really keep me interested in the franchise. You have a great voice and rhythm, it's so easy to listen to. Some of this I'd seen before but some of it was still new. Interesting and light-hearted. Have an amazing new year.
Thanks so much! I hope you have an awesome year too!
Thank you so much I hope you have an awesome new year too!
Cerberus murdered the Pope because he liked aliens? That’s kind of hilarious.
Thanks for all the great content this year, looking forward to more in '24, Happy New Year!
Thanks for uploading fresh new content of Mass Effect
Cerberus is going to burn for their crimes
I love the War of the Worlds like feel of the Reapers just marching around.
Fantastic coverage! I'm a huge mass effect fan, but I didn't know most of these! Subscribed;l i've been binging several of your great mass effect videos. Really reignited my interest and passion for the series.
Am I the only one who would like a live action horror set on earth or probably London during the reaper attacks
I would totally love this
Before watching this : pfff another 50 facts i know… After watching : So be it.
the artist syd mead being involved was a fun fact i didn't know....thanks kala great video
Yeah the visual inspiration is so obvious once you know to look for it!
that really explains why i loved the look of the world @@kalaelizabeth
That turian fraud guy needs to team up with kasumi.
They'd make an amazing duo 😂
literally the best triology that ever exist besides Halo.
Great job, as always. You gave a lot of information to ponder. So, I might comment more later
This is the best sh*! Ever!! Adari dressing up as Hitler, and c-sec needs more funding. Crying laughing while listening to this. 😂😂😂
The 1v1 turian general that ended up having memes made of it was really funny too. There's so many funny lore bits!
I just recently played mass effect for the first time in oct/Nov and I fell in love with the characters this is a great list
Your awesome for this
Why does femshep sound like the "Hey there Puff mama" woman from spongebob
I really need to replay these
I can’t stand the Elcor’s ridiculous obsession with hamlet. It’s especially annoying in Mass Effect Annhilation(the Quarian Arc story if i recall correctly)
Damn space horse literally claims hamlet wasn’t human and humans stole him from the Elcor😑
😂😂😂
Yes that one fellow did go on about it a little too much in the book.
I'm not sure how translators work but if they aren't implants I think it would be cool to have a mission like the one in the citadel DLC where the new protagonist gets attacked and left without their translator and you get to hear alien language if that makes sense
loved the video , learned a lot of lore that i didnt know .
Glad you learned some new stuff!
There is so much more that can be told from existing lore it would be a waste to not use it in the next Mass Effect. It would guarantee engagement. But we all know what happens when there is a new writer. Maybe it's not such a bad idea to have the execs tell them what to do.
Yeah I sincerely hope they pull from some of these obscure lore bits in the next game, there's a lot of good there.
@@kalaelizabeth the first thing they need to do is not do anything that don't make sense. I've been watching a number of playthroughs new to the lore. An observation of Andromeda is the tempo for the Saliran's are wrong. The game has no feelings. No emotion.
rumor has it that the live action mass effect 3 trailers were inspired by bungies halo marketing and tried a similar approach.
Another perfect video. keep 'm coming. 🙂🙂🙂🙂
thank you! have a great new year!
Speaking of the new Mass Effect, looks like it got rebooted to me.
Hey Kala, I can't find my answer, but do we know which Mass Effect 3 Ending is considered cannon yet?
No ending is considered canon at the moment
Ok idea for a new video. This is a very different idea and view point.
How would a Renegade/Ruthless view their crewmates? Let's be honest. Would Shepard want some of the on the crew? Allow crew members to just get away with comments they make?
Examples.
Miranda talking about a chip (especially if Shepard is a colonist)
Garrus questioning orders
Jacob insulting comments
James inappropriate flirting
Liara selfishness
I can't remember the name of Aira's guard that claims to toss Shepard out of airlock after Shepard was brought back from being spaced. Even Anderson misleads Shepard
Bioware reponces for Shepard are not rengende. Would a Renegade let crew and others just "steam roll over" Shepard like? Bioware just writes Shepard responses are like...Whatever
I'm very interested in your opinion because you also tend to play Renegade.
You posted this as I'm playing ME2.
Perfect timing!
@@kalaelizabeth Indeed
Liara is available for male and female ash available for male shep Samantha female shep
Reapers know how to access data and extranet sources, thus raloy's first contact with Citadel would've been discovered eventually.
That live action mass effect 3 trailer goes hard especially for 2012.
That's such a Mordin thing to do 😢
He was such a good friend 🥹
RIP Legion. You'd have loved Baldur's Gate 3
Nice. Yes, there is a lot info in msg terminals and also in shadow brocker terminals.
As usual well done lady.
Batarian arc?
I love all of these. Who knew the Illusive Man had game? Also, how bonkers were videogame trailers back in the day, imagine just watching TV and that pops up? They should do more stuff like that these days.
I really hope the marketing kicks it up like they used to do. Was really cool stuff back then
9 thousand million? thats A LOT.
Please 😭😭😭😭
That's just my Shepard's net cash. 😂
21:52 that's incorrect. Binary needs a lot of characters for each letter. It doesn't spell HELP 4 times, it spells HELP, one line for each letter.
I hope in ME 5 hypothetically speaking in Character creation we can choose playing as one of the Alien Species. Minus Hanar😅 Thoughts?
Hey Kala, I was just thinking about the Andromeda initiative and realized just how dangerous SAM is. Javik talks about an alien race the Shatil that were taken over by AI that they made to interface with.
Have you given any consideration to the idea that the Andromeda initiative could be taken over by a rogue SAM?
The AI was taken over by the Reapers. Without reaper interference that wouldn't have happened. The Reapers are a self fulfilling prophecy.
Like #445! Preem content as usual choom!
A "thousand million" is a billion. Just sayin...
I use a mod to remove Diana Allers from my game, I never see her haha. Would I have done that to Emily? No, of course not.
legion as a gamer and got banned for 3 days lmao. that got me good
21 might be a reference to (ex) Prince Harry? he went to a costume party dressed up in a Nazi uniform and caused a huge scandal iirc. not sure if the games' release dates line up, though.
Kasumi about to get cheated on by jacob after 3 months lol
Probably the least known fact: SpaceX is in ME cannon/lore. You could infer that Elon Musk/one of his missions uncovered the Prothean Archive on Mars 😮
We pretend that didn't happen.
they should have space x in a throwaway paragraph in future lore where the program implodes on itself because it's run by an idiot lol
Awesome video
I got a theory about commander shepherd.
And yet, there were a ton of people in the comments who learned new things 🥰
@@kalaelizabeth guess they didn't take the time to read the shadow broker dossiers lol
All my friends hate Batarians.
21. Those Asari did nothing wrong smh
