I'd love to see Kolyat as a high-ranking C-Sec Officer. After you help him, he starts working for Bailey and slowly climbs the ranks to become the first Drell C-Sec officer.

Kolyat would be dead. It would be nice if there's a memorial on the Citadel to Thane's sacrifice at the Solarian Embassy, maybe a "Kolyat Krios Rehabilitation Program" showing that he's remembered in a good way. Remember, after being saved by the Commander & his father, Kolyat spent more time among the Priests of his religion, so him going to C-Sec isn't impossible but unlikely.
"Who really died" - Mike Gamble: could refer to Legion whose soul left his platform, but didn't truly die.
Also "Who had kids with whom?" Wrex and Bakara most certainly had a daughter named Mordin.
If Shepard is the PC and I hear “Shepard Commander” then I’ll scream.
The word "really" is in italics. There are also the words “Mass Effect” in italics. That is, it is equivalent. Hidden under the word "really" is comparable in importance to Mass Effect. And with all due respect to the Legion, he is not the same as Mass Effect.
In fact, even the developers don’t consider it that important. Let me give you an example. Party DLC Citadel. Although the developers added unimportant characters like Cortez and Trainor there, the developers didn’t add Legion there, although they could have

@@dorottyapapp Most likely Mordin, look at the brow plate. The head is more spiked like Wrex's with a triangular snout and not the more rounded grunt appearance. Grunt will probably be back though cause you can see a krogan in the back of the latest teaser with the Phantom N7 that has a Grunt-like silhouette.
I highly expect to see Tali (or the Quarians) in this new game in a major capacity. Andromeda didn't feature them (outside of audio), so I feel like Bioware could make up for that this time around.

There could be a version of Miranda alive in the next game. My theory is that Henry Lawson created more than two embryos to make his dynasty last basically forever. My take from reading the Shadow Broker report on Miranda in ME2 is that she's infertile. One way for her to experience motherhood is to activate one of the embryos and raise it as her own child. And that repeats itself with each successive generation.
It's feasible, but the biggest hurdle could be getting Strahovski back for the role since she's a much bigger star now.
This will sound depraved; but I think it's likely. From what we hear of her father from Miranda; she wasn't the first. He kept making feminized clones of himself every time one reached puberty and proved infertile. Miranda's "twin sister" was the first one that wasn't infertile. Miranda tells us he's utterly self-obsessed and also obsessed with creating a dynasty - he could have done so by marrying ANYONE just like normal people and having children with his wife. I think the reason he wanted a fertile female clone of himself; was so that he could mate with himself and start his dynasty with an heir that was 100% his genes, unpolluted with anyone else's. (But with enhancements like Miranda's biotics.) But yes, with cloning tech anyone biological could return. Though it would be kind of a cheap ploy to bring people back and explain they are clones. Especially if they do it with Shepard.
Some of The ME2 cast were far bigger stars than she ever will be, and they took the roles. An actor wants to act.
That wouldn't *really* be Miranda though, just like her sister isn't. It could be an interesting story in its own right, to explore nature vs. nurture thematics from the perspective of a genetic clone.
@@Rapunzel879 Depends on how much 💰she has in the bank and desire to work. You have to keep in mind that pay for video game voice overs are peanuts compared to TV and movies. She also hasn’t done any VO work since ME3
@@mojaalI'm no actor, but from my perspective, if I was offered to voice over a really cool character in a high budget video game, I would jump on it. Video games are remembered in ways that movies and TV shows could only wish for. We're seeing this trend even today with Cyberpunk 2077 or Exodus (whenever it comes out) where high profile actors are doing voice overs for them.
There is also the fact that Shepard and Ryder are cyborgs. Who knows how long those cybernetic implants Miranda installed into Shepard can extend his/her life. How long can SAM keep the Ryder twins alive past natural aging?

1: Probably not forever; Even cyborgs have their limits. At most, I'd say about 200-300 years or so.
2: I don't think we can discuss this question without venturing into some disturbing topics; That's a can of worms I refuse to open.

I think ANYONE romanceable absolutely HAS to return in some fashion. Whether it's by codex entries or emails or anything really they're kind of a requirement unless bioware wants a riot on their hands lol
Yeah I think almost every character, if not ever, will at the very bare minimum get a codex entry or some kind of email, etc.
God, I love this content... Usually people just jump into "hey, these are the characters that could come back" but here we have "here are the agea of all the races, their shoe sizes and next of kin." A 30 minute video whwre most would be 10...

I would love to see the old crew back and see what they been up to you after the reaper war, but I would ne be mad if we got audio logs or codex entries about the old crew, I would prefer seeing them in person though. my head canon is tali becoming the citadel's head of organic-synthetic relations. Also, conrad Verner squadmate confirmed
They could do flashback-missions that we could play with the old crew and Shepard while not bringing them back.

Bad news regarding Legion: He's dead no matter your choices during the events of Mass Effect 3. The only difference is the context for his death.
I see many people on YT talk about Javik being the least memorable character in Mass Effect which is a blatant lie. How do I know? My brother, never played ME in his life, knows who Javik is. I loved the character, the least memorable is and forever will be Jacob. I almost forgot about him while typing this.
I imagine they'd bring back Legion and EDI in a sense. As a 'Destroy Ending' man seeing it as Canon, people tell me I'm a dick for killing the geth and EDI as collateral, but logically they can be remade as long as the organics who made them are still around thus making the post game head canon that they were brought back.
I think it's more likely in Grunt's case that he is physically 22, but mentally 300 from the tank learning. Basically enough knowledge to be an effective warrior brain wise right out of the tank without the drawback of having to put his body on the line for all of that knowledge. I think it's a pretty safe bet that if ME5 takes place post Andromeda that Grunt is going to show up
I get scared more and more everytime there's new art and quarians are either absent or dead, as they are my favorite ME race.
Considering how much there seems to be inconflict at BioWare over quarians
[There was an interview with Tali's writer, Patrick Weekes, iirc he had to fight to keep Tali on as a companion in ME3. And killing the quarians appears almost as a Paragon choice during the Rannoch mission in ME3. And the quarians being left as canceled DLC for Andromeda that ended up as a book where the quarian ark had mostly died to some virus iirc.] I'm getting worried that the quarians will just be canonized as extinct in ME4/5.

I think I remember someone figuring out that no matter what, there are 3 companions who cannot be killed as a result of your actions in the games: Liara, James and EDI. Everyone else either can or does die. I think that makes those three the most likely returning companions. Maybe throw in Javik as well. Then you have a good balance of genders/races/classes. Two females in Liara and EDI, two males in James and Javik. Each a different race, and each a different class. That's just squadmates though, I'm sure there would be returning side-characters as well like Joker, Aria, Chakwas, Conrad, etc.
According to the video of the Mass Relay being constructed, that was released on N7 day 2022, the date at the bottom of the video says 11/7/90, now, I'm assuming that's 2190, which would put it 4 years after the events of ME3. I think that's pretty good for a timeline. They could set things 4 years later and then all of our favourite characters would still be alive, and then maybe they use that Mass Relay to time-jump.
If you don't help Liara in any of the games and your EMS is low(I believe it's got to be the lowest it can be.) If she is a companion with you for the run, she is hit with a reaper beam and killed. - Okay, I guess this isn't due directly to your actions, more of a cause.

@@JokeCubed She's also one of the most popular characters in the franchise; Chances are it's just business logic to talk about her so much throughout the marketing. Either way, the puzzle isn't even halfway completed.
I really hope we get a Geth squad mate I really enjoy having legion as a squad mate in mass effect 2 and I really hope we get to see the characters story
Shiala to be a romancing character in the ME 5 would be super interesting since i really like her story in ME 1 and 2. I want that too!

Admiral Hackett looked pretty worn for 52. With a 150 year life span I guessed he was at least in his 80s. I would hope that our long lifespan had quality, not just quantity

My personal theory on the geth from the bar is that if it is Liara and a “geth bodyguard” it could be Glyph put into a geth body as a way to give it physical capabilities. I know geth heads are already bright flashlight heads lol but something about the color of the light makes my mind immediately go to Glyph.
I hope we can import at least some choices/endings from ME Legendary.
Maybe Grunt is 300 years for a krogan but since he's tank bred he's only as old when he was made in the tank so he's 22

Didn't in the citadel dlc, wrex said he was around 700? And Andromeda is 634 years later so wouldn't he still be alive?
Wrex said he was "past" 700. Given context about the Genophage, he could be around 1300-1500, if you intrepret that he was around for the late Krogan Rebellions. (I think he is about 1500 and born right on the tale end of the Rebellions and can vaguely remember a time before the Genophage - or the stories from the females and the Shamans.)
Since he mentioned Okeer, my intrepretation is that Okeer is much older than Wrex and Wrex being 1500.

Wonder if cerberus add life extending tech for Shepard during ME2
In ME 2, Shepherd is genetically manipulated to bring them back to life, which could pose an interesting idea. No telling what happened at the end of ME 3 also. Definitely makes me eager to see what the devs have in mind by showing Liara finding the N7 piece, if she's looking for traces of Sheperd, or something/someone else.
I want to see my old crew back - i.e. Shepard and the gang. I have zero desire at all to deal with (or even see) anything or anyone from the dogfart known as Andromeda. There is a reason why a lot of people hated on that terrible game. Bring back the Milky Way, the Citadel, and all of the rich lore that I fell in love with all those years ago.
For some reason it comes to my mind line from the end of ME3:
"What about Shepard?"
"Okay, one more story.."
To be honest? What if we will have Shepard handing the torch to new protagonist as they were teaching them or something, and Shepard becomes someone like Hackett? Like they guide new protagonist like Hackett and Anderson were doing it with Shepard. We could have old companions come back to help us in a similiar way - maybe we will see their children and this is how the old crew is passing torch to new. Maybe what we have with Dark Matter... it will be a thing towards the end, setting up - let's say journey to Andromeda. Sort of a smooth transition.
This would be kind of neat. And from the rumors that they are making "Destroy" the cannon ending (which pretty much fits their theme of assuming worst-case scenario in every decision of previous games if you haven't played them. But I still think it sucks because IMHO story-wise they seem to favor the Paragon choices during play. Which would make Synthesis the appropriate ending. It's really the only choice that doesn't stab Legion and EDI in the back for being loyal to us, and ruins the WIN in talking the Quarians and Geth into cooperation. And IMHO the Reapers were never the real enemy; they are unknowingly enslaved to the Citadel AI and just following the programming it gave them - there doesn't seem to be a good reason to not be able to tap into possibly millions of years of other species knowledge.)

Technically, Quarians could bring Geths back etc. I mean with good writing they can dig out themselves from this mess.
@@DeusNyx I think that scene was even added later with patch after how people got mad about endings. I'm not sure. It was back in 2012.
@@sapphi2387 No, it was definitely before the Extended Cut was released; You could even see how the background was almost entirely copy-pasted from something on Google Images.
The ME2 marketing info on Grunt is definitely obsolete. He was grown in a tank until Shepard released him; he wasn't a merc, and he wasn't on Tuchanka. His name wasn't even Grunt, until he picked it. Seems that was a an unused concept for the character; so 22 would be more likely.
Great video, thanks! Love your viewpoint. Your excellent deep dives, along with a new run through the Legendary Trilogy, is fending off my despair at a probable 5 year (!) wait for the next game. Me, I want Shepard back, and we already know Liara returns - Wrex, Grunt and Aria too? I also hope it’s more closely related to the ME3 timeline. Don’t know how this will all play out, but excited for the potential of his next chapter.

I remember reading sometime that they said ME5 will take place after MEA. I don't know how true that is. It IS POSSIBLE because of the poor performance of Andromeda, they could retcon it out of existence and it pick up some years after ME3 without any reason or reference to Andromeda.
A ign reporter said that very off handedly but didn't really clarify anything and I have a hard time believing it personally so as of right now I think we have to wait and see
@@kalaelizabeth yeah, it's best taken with a grain of salt. I personally think Andromeda may be retconned. There's a LONG period of time between 3 and 4. The name of the next game will let us know, if it's ME 5, then Andromeda is canonical.
As the Destroy ending seems to the one that BioWare is going for as the canon one, we need to look at many possibilities. For one, all the mass relays were destroyed in this ending and, depending on how long it takes to repair them, it could affect gameplay (though I think they'll probably set the game AFTER the repairs are finished tbh). Another thing is that EDI, Legion, and the Geth were all destroyed in this ending. Realistically, they could somehow be brought back (though that's as far as I got without thinking up any valid reasons). Perhaps some of their CPU's miraculously survived or something. Other bits of tech that the people in the Mily Way rely on would have been destroyed or at least damaged. This could refer to the ship's drive cores, omni-tools etc.
Also, if we're talking life spans, then Liara, Wrex and Grunt would definitely be around.

I hope are choices of the last 3 games carry over , like who didn’t live and who survived if this is the case . And if we play Shepard again transfer our Shepard .

My head cannon is: BioWare is still in pre-production for ME5. They have an idea of where they want the story to go, but they don't want to fudge it up like last time, so they are releasing "teases" of their half-baked ideas to see how the fans respond to them. Depending on our reactions, they will either continue to develop those threads or they will drop them. Hell, it would not surprise me if they are listening into our discourses and steal our ideas. After all, the fanbase is like the geth. We are a million voices that come to a consensus, haha.

My top 5 side characters are the same as yours. 😊 Even if Shiala was killed in ME1, I think they could bring her back in a way if they wanted ... maybe there's a Shiala Thorian clone out there somewhere that survived and gained free will!

Conrad Verner did die a heroic death in my last playthrough.. i wand to let him rest in that achievement.
I desperately want some form of tribute to Andromeda and a new protagonist. I just… I want the trilogy to have closure and end. Shepard deserves to rest. They went through so much. Just give me a line of dialogue that Shepard lived happily ever after with their romance choice. Give me that and then some closure for Ryder cuz I adored Ryder and I’m pretty go with anything after that.
Shepard is already resting in peace. I want a sequel with Ryder, her/his story arc is unfinished. Then we can have a new protagonist.

I love that Gamble mentioned "the endings" as part of the questions with answers. It keeps alive my hope that every ending can be canonical.
Except not every ending can be canonical as some of them directly contradict each other; For example, you can't do both Destroy and Control since they kind of nullify each other. (Especially if you do Perfect Destroy.) Likewise, doing both Control and Synthesis gets extremely murky, and do I even need to say anything about Refuse?

I like James to return. I completely changed my opinion of James after watching his hour and a half anime Mass Effect Paragon Lost. One RUclipsr described him as having a heart of gold.
It does seem odd that Conrad aged so much in such a short time. It might suggest he is posing as a human or be from another reality. Could he be a Q? (A TNG reference).
We know It would be a win if they simply continue from where ME3 left off. What form that will take may be nothing like what we have seen because of AI.
The 2 dates given in the N7 teasers are a few years after ME:3, and when the initiative arrives. I think our intro of the game will be post ME:3, but the majority of the game will leap forward to when the initiatives distress beacon is received.
I think the Geth crater image is from just post ME:3, where Liara is using the mudskipper to search for Shepard. That explains why wrex is there, that explains Liara finding the N7 armour. She isn’t casually climbing up dead frozen reapers for the fun of it, she’s clearly searching for something. In the post ME:3 audio, we hear Liara talking to a Geth.
Jump forward to receiving the Andromeda’s distress signal, we see clearly that Liara has an Angara with her so contact and travel are clearly sorted out, probably using upgraded Mass Relays like the Geth we’re using for the telescope, and she still has a Geth companion, maybe even the same one. It’s clear we have a time jump in the game, not time travel.
I thought I was the only one who loved Shoreh’s voice! She was crazy good in The Expanse.

This is a great video (like all your videos)! I'd love to hear your thoughts on which outcomes from the prior games you think BioWare should canonize. For example, I think it's in their best interest to canonize an ending. However, I'm not sure how I feel about them canonizing which characters lived/died.
We know some characters will return for sure. I vote for my big boy Wrex, my big boy Grunt and Liara. And I hope we will have some cameos/stories/holograms/voice clips from other characters. As for Shep... Well, I don't want them to bring him/her back. I mean, I want him alive as a legend. Krogans naming their kids Shepard or calling "Shepard" their heoroes, like Wrex said. Or through orher characters from trilogy, not as some plot device. ME1 to ME3 was Shep story and I want to stay it that way. I rather miss Shep, not beeing tired of him/her or feel like them just brought Shepard back, because reasons. ME is brilliant universe, so there is plenty of stories and characters. Also, I really, really hope they will include Andromeda somehow. I have a feeling we will see a lot of it in new ME and main story might have something to do with that, but it's just my guess.
Thats the beauty of story telling, any possibility can be weaved. What matters is the game has soul and can connect us to the ME universe forever like the original trilogy did.
I find it hard to believe many of Shepard's human companions are in their 20s they look and sound older like in their 30s personally. There's a lot of NPC characters from the trilogy i like to see return as well that Kala mentioned also admiral Xen.
Is it possible that the Drell character next to the mud skipper, Feron? And that the video of Liara finding the N7 armor piece, is a scene from her finding Shepards body the first time?

Maybe, but no evidence to suggest that.
In my opinion, ME5 should definitely start with Shepard about 10 years after the destruction of the Reapers, then they should do what Ubisoft did with Ezio in Assassin's Creed, a peaceful death accompanied by his family. This way they can introduce a new main character without alienating the fans and start a new saga that culminates in the Andromeda Initiative being revealed. As a new main antagonist, I would say that Leviathan or perhaps the Yagh are the biggest threat to the "new galaxy". But that's just my opinion and more wishful thinking.
I sacrificed Tuchanka and the Krogans to give the Rachni a place to live.
It'd be interesting to see if Bioware really do continue game players endings.

If you ask me I think the tidbits regarding Andromeda are there to keep fans on their toes and guessing until the final release, and I personally would prefer that to be the case with the new game taking place at most just a couple decades after 3. Not saying that due to any bad feelings regarding Andromeda and I do believe that story has a ton of potential, but to tease at the original trilogy so much just to set the game so far into the future that they are hardly relevant would feel like a slap in the face personally.
I think the character I want to see back the most is Samara, the philosophical chats with most beatiful waifu in the game by the stars were exceeding.
I would also love to see Jack.
Shepard is alive and will return due to the Lazarus project and the cybernetics inside of him which clearly can extend his life, as for the crew, I'm not surprised if they all return and their life's have been extended by the geth choosing to sync with them to improve their life's span, just like when you save Tali's planet and the Geths simultaneously. Some of your views I agree with and some I don't. The crew I believe all will be alive when Shepard took that breath after the destruction.

All of these theories are great, I do hope any of them are true or at lest partly true, It would be awesome to see Conrad Verner again in some way.
I think soon after Mass Effect3, but that new relay could be hooked up with a wormhole to allow the Andromeda galaxy to be linked with the original timeline. The cryostasis pods from Andromeda could allow for healing of Shepard and allow him/her to return in retirement raising a family and advising future N7s

could live, after they were brought back by Cerberus with Reaper technology. They could very well be immortal or live for thousands of years.

Here is a wild and possibly unpopular thought. Remember Cerberus? what if they cloned a copy of Shep? And it was female and later became the N7 you see in the teaser? Just a wierd and wild thought.....

I think Korgan can easily get past the 2,500 mark. They may even be biologically immortal like Lobsters & Crocodiles but once they reach a certian size they just cant keep up with the energy needed to move

I think it would be cool to play in the time line of the first and second game as a completely new protagonist preferably getting to choose from a specie's and maybe playing outside of the military maybe even a small time criminal building up and maybe even being all in the background of places Shepard and crew were. How funny would a cut scene be where you see Shepard and crew walking in the background. Or working as a contact for the shadow broker
Of course Conrad is returning he’s the main character for the next game💀 who else could possibly continue this series?
I would love to see a genesis comic at the start to go through the trilogy before hand. Maybe as an unlockable achievement after a first play through. I definitely need to see aria. My favourite play through dlc and squad mate.

Next game will be a time-bending sci-fi mystery thriller; taking place across boh timelines, with players controling Shepard after the events of the OG trilogy, and also playing as Ryder in the future timeline. I'm thinking specifically something like Spider-man: Edge of Time; where the 2 timelines are somehow intertwined and you go back and forth between them; trying to discover the cause of the temporal anomaly and prevent some mass extinction, because of course. Would be a very Star Trek kinda plot.

If the Geth are in the next game, and the Destroy ending is canon, then it makes sense for Tali to be the one to bring back the Geth.
The idea of using wormholes to connect the timelines would only work in one direction, on the theoretical level. Anyone traveling from the Milky Way to Andromeda within even a matter of a few centuries would reach Andromeda before the events of Mass Effect: Andromeda and potentially before the events of the original trilogy. According to theoretical physics, time travel through wormholes is possible, but only backward. If you take one end of a wormhole and accelerate it to a speed close to that of light, it will experience time dilation - its internal “clock” will run slower than the rest of the universe. So, those from Andromeda could use wormholes to enter the Milkway at around the time just after the original trilogy, bridging the two, but not the other way around.
On this theory, they did say that the scourge is a form of dark energy and they could use dark energy as an explanation for stabilizing wormholes. If they 'could' explain a connection between dark energy and dark matter, even though most current astrophysicists believe that the two have little relationship with each other besides both being invisible, this would tie up unanswered questions about the dark matter mentioned in the original trilogy and the scourge from Andromeda, while also working as a solid plot device.
I just finished the legendary edition playthrough. I chose the path I saw as a sacrifice that allowed all of Sheps friends to live. Shepard essentailly became the reapers. He is still there but without body. Seems to me Liara can figure out how to find a new body for Shep. He has to come back dammit! Mass Effect, in the end, had me bawling my eyes out. Partly because of how I hated that I couldn't get a truly happy ending no matter what I did, but mostly because it was over. I didn't want Mass Effect to ever end.
I'm playing andromeda now, but it just makes me miss 1 thru 3 even more. Shepard deserves a happy ending!!!!!
