"A dk measuring competition between nerds"
Shortest competition ever 🫢🐢
Yes, we need a new Switch.
Square enix is going back to nintendo exclusives big time, watch.
Yes it's time for the New Nintendo Switch NEXT...I ask before how long have you been collecting
It'll be 8 years, switch 1 came out March 2017
It blows my mind that there are people resistant to a next gen Switch after this long, especially considering the Switch's handicaps in 2024.
People will grow old of switch 1 and then ask ninte do for switch 2
2017 + 8 = 2025
We are still in 2024, so no, it is not 8 years yet. It is 7 years plus a couple of months.
... he never said yet. He said it will be. And by the time this thing comes out he'll be pretty much correct.
Not to mention the hardware was already old when it launched
I haven't even upgraded from PS4 to PS5 yet... I feel like consoles are becoming like smartphones, the differences aren't major enough to warrant the cost.
Yeah I ended up just getting a steam deck and now I'm not even sure I need any more consoles aside from maybe the next Nintendo because of the exclusives because I can play basically everything I've ever wanted to play ever in my life on that thing
I feel this way too.
Ps5 owner here. The only difference between you and me is I have buyers remorse and I can play a few games at 60 fps instead of 30. Unless you're a Rachet and Clank fan you're missing nothing.
You guys need an optometrist there is definitely a big difference between ps4 and ps5
@@jennahaze6835 in terms of graphical advancement and innovation there isn't. Not when you compare the difference between the ps2 to the ps3 or even the ps1 to the ps2. What do you get now ? 60fps and shinier graphics which you need a 4K TV to take full advantage of ? Pull the other one it's got a handmade shoe on.
The Switch is my favorite console of all time. One that is a little bit stronger and newer would be amazing.
I don't mind a Super Nintendo Switch.
I'm digging it. The Super Switch.
Casuals would be confused, you have to remember that a lot of sales also come from parents and grandparents that don't have a lot of knowledge about gaming
it's not even a question.
It is REAL
Nintendo has confirmed that the successor of the switch is officially coming and will be announced later this year. That being said, I’m expecting the new system will have a 2025 release date rather than a late 2024 release date.
Most likely
Without even watching the video I know the answer is yes. Adaptability to anybody's situation. Being able to play on the TV or on the go was revolutionary for me personally and literally all they need to do is make the console just more powerful and fix the joy-con problem and I'm good. They can keep it the exact same dimensions and look exactly the same and just improve everything significantly and I will be happy
Nintendo could benefit from having better specs in a new version of the switch.. Nintendo has a better gasp of gamers than both Sony and Microsoft .. Nintendo is the one company who seems to have first party studio games and indie games as a major focus.. I honestly feel they have the perfect balance of marketing and strategy.. Hopefully they have watched the success of steamdeck are adding things learned from it..
The steam deck has been Modley successful. The steam deck is not a mass market device like the Nintendo switch. It’s a nice device for PC gamers.
The japanese are great at improving things
i've just started watching. a switch 2 would work if they left it retrocompatible with switch 1. if not, they'll have real problems if it's not a really groundbreaking toy with a new gimmick.
It's rumored to be backwards compatible.
Personally I think it should be spec bumps better speakers battery faster processor more ram updated screen to 4k maybe and backlight buttons
@@boutstaxx yeah those are improvements, but that doesn't sell a new console to everyone. Just to the people that don't have a switch or are heavily unsatisfied about it. It isn't a new generation.
i would even like a mode where you can just run switch 1 game at native resolution at half or a third of the wattage cost, battery life for days baby
The ultimate point that i think the Switch already made is that what matters is gameplay, not the graphical fidelity, R-Type on my Gameboy is still as fun in pixelated black and green as it would be in full remastered 3d glory. The underlying experience is the same.
So you don't need cutting edge hardware to have amazing games, you just need great games and the software is what moves the hardware, not the other way around. Any kind of Switch 2 needs to be compatible with Switch games and even then it's a risk Nintendo would be taking on so they need to measure it, but always by the software.
Is the software served by this update, do we get more software if we do this or less? Does it help third party publishers put more stuff on the system? Those are the fundamental questions you need to answer to make that decision, because Nintendo themselves are struggling with the hardware some times i'd argue that yes some kind of updated system is warranted, but they should tread carefully
Of course we need a new Switch to play some more modern games, it's been over 8 years! You can recession-proof it by making it fully backwards compatible with your entire original Switch library...
Yes. We do. Whether or not I will buy it. Depends on how Nintendo handles it
Has to have 100 percent original game support. Nintendo is winning this current Gen gaming catastrophe.
For me, if it is retrocompatible and fixes the drift problem, it is a YES. Totally tired of buying new controls or fixing my Switch Lite.
@enrique9925 ...almost forgot about the drift thing. I used the guilikit hall effect pots for my joycons to fix that. But agreed. Definitely has to be fixed. I don't imagine Nintendo will skip the hall effect cons this time around.
Kudos to Nintendo switch lasted 10 years more than any of the PlayStation or Xbox systems has lasted and it only gets better by the minute I am quite impressed with Nintendo switch graphic work and the games are Astronomically fun
Switch is my favorite system of all time. In the morning my roommate plays Tetris 99, in the evening I play KOTOR on it. I'm 100% not at all ready to rep!ace it.
We do. Even if they don't make any new games it would be nice to be able to play the current ones at a steady 30fps at least.
Nah, it needs games. The New 3DS had the same problem, as did the Wii U to the Wii.
Already have it...
Most games from the Nintendo at least run a stable 30 FPS.
@@Adamtendo_player_1 Yeah, but it should be 60 FPS. Nintendo needs to do better.
As playstaion fan i really loved my ps4 till it died and the price of the ps5 was high so bought a nintendo switch oled and even tho its not as graphicaly as powerful as the ps4 or five its all about the gameplay for me and for the price the switch is pretty awsome to me and i still play it alot😊
We...I need an F-Zero on Switch for starters
Like... F-Zero 99???
@@tavoelninja No.................Like a new F-Zero made specifically for the Switch hardware.
Yeah 👍
Amen brotha
@@tavoelninjasomething like fzero gx but from the ground up utilizing switch hardware. That would be incredible
The situation was similar when the wii launched. Granted this means that for Nintendo to jolt the industry the switch 2 needs to be just as successfull in pulling in "normal people" to the gaming market. It's hard but if anyone can pull it off it's Nintendo.
We need a Switch 2 more than a newer PlayStation or XBoX right now…
No we need a new Gamecube
O yes brother
Your talking about another home console and know we don't switch has proven that
I totally agree brother Luke. We need a new gamecube! This time it will have online. I do hope for cute little mini disc's! I enjoy the small form factor.
Despite the Gamecube being the best engineered piece of console hardware ever, no one wanted it. With only about 22 million Gamecubes sold total and the Gameboy advance selling about 20 million a year during the same time frame it is safe to say people want Nintendo handheld consoles not home consoles. Another Switch it is!
Or maybe Nintendo 65
This June we'll be holding a Nintendo Direct on the Nintendo Switch 1 software lineup for the second half of 2024, but please note that there won't be any mention of the Nintendo Switch 1 successor during
I just purchased a Lenovo Legion Go a few months back, i feel if Nintendo can come up with a handhelp similar to the Go Screen,Power and features with and Oled screen that is backwards compatible, I would buy it.
Depends if it realises Nintendo's next game ideas. They seem to be the only ones daring to be different.
Easy answer…yes of course! From the company point of view it makes sense to compete or at least keep up with things like the steam deck. And as you say with the gaming industry in such a mess, Nintendo is in a great position to destroy the competition by keeping up its own philosophies!
Yes. I think the graphics and resution is a bit lacking :)
I've been wanting to get a switch ever since it came out, just not being able to afford one when I had a job and now I'm unemployed pretty much stopping that. If they do a switch 2 then I also hope it'll be backwards compatible as there's a lot of switch games I really would like to play.
Yes because it's been 7 years since the Switch released. The Switch is struggling to keep up with the latest AAA games and straight up can't play a lot of them without cloud gaming or a serious downgrade. The Switch is far from perfect.
not true and as for downgrades it's because the companies are rushing to switch fans and not taking their time
@@Harry-v4t2g Copium
That's an excellent question, 3rd party games don't sell regardless what it is, and Nintendo fans don't care about graphics, that's been proven with the record sells of mario and Zelda games.
I genuinely think we should strive for ten year lifespans on consoles at the least.
Yes, we need one if they have proper games. Nintendo should discount Switch now to overtake PS2. Switch 2 will likely be like PS4 Pro. It is needed for third party titles, too.
Very fun video, with great points. You’re a gamer. I can tell, because you and I have a very similar thought process when it comes to looking at things from an outside the box angle. Thanks again.
backwards compatible is the clutch move for nintendo. it would add so much value and stretch your dollar. it's a no-brainer!
We really don't need any of these newer consoles til MORE games get better and less shotty!
In an ideal world, I would be happy just having mi NES all my life, but, technology is like that. It advances and doesn´t care whatever leaves behind. All good things come to an end.
Exactly. Switch launched over 7 years ago at this point. It is pretty ridiculous for anyone to complain about a new generation coming after this long. Especially when you consider that during the 90s (the time every gamer, whether they were alive or not at the time, treats like the golden age of gaming where everything was perfect) video game generations were like 5 years long.
"people has less money then they used to"
Gaming companies: but that means they still have some left 😏
We do need switch 2, or else even more current gen games and ports will be left behind. And I would be estatic to have games like FF7 Rebirth on the Switch 2.
And the Switch technology was already outdated when it released. So I can't wait for a Switch 2!!!
The switch has excellent battery life compared to the steamdeck and other x86 devices. It's the major strength... Be interesting to see what they can do next.
To me, it depends if it is backward compatible with the older games. If not, I might wait this out... And this is the reason why I'm not buying the OLED version.
It would be completely asinine for Nintendo not to give it backwards compatibility. If the new console lacks it, Nintendo will have shot themselves in the foot.
I think a switch pro that runs the switch games much better could be an alternative.
I just want to say I don’t own a switch and don’t care about 4K or 120fps. I am largely a retro gamer and I’m VERY interested in your opinion. You and your husband are on my wavelength and I love these discussions. Thanks so much for making all these videos.
If Mario Maker 3 and Legend of Zelda Maker are launch titles or are releasing shortly after, I would get a Switch 2 in a heartbeat!
The Nintendo Switch: a necessity for gracious living.
Yes more better graphics and for a bunch of new games
I know it would be too expensive, but I would love to see a kind of 2 screen set up that looks like an oversized DS if portable, but the top part is where the processing is and the bottom is just streamed video and controls. At home you can take the screen off and dock it to the TV and use the first part as the controller or you and another could each have your own screen for multiplayer games. Main thing is to not require games to use both screens at all times (maybe have a option when in handheld, but don't force it like the Wii U) and this one extra function could keep it ahead of others like the Steam Deck, but I admit I don't think the idea would be practical as just keeping the console one unit.
Knowing Projekt Red's rep with Cyberpunk, it's no wonder why they would fail to optimize a game.🤦♂️🤣
You tell me, my switch has been acting up just randomly shutting down on me. If we ain't getting the switch to I'll have to get an OLED soon
We need an upgraded Switch more than we needed the PS5 or Xbox Series
If, and only if the Switch 2 is basically a cheaper Ayaneo flip that can still Run Helldivers 2, DD2 and generally most of the higher end titles, then sure. Will the switch 2 do that? Improbable.
I'm not really a switch fan but I completely agree with you 👍
I bought a PS2 in 2002 mostly because it was a backwards compatible with the PS1, which I never owned because of financial reasons.
That being said, even though I bought a Switch last year, if Nintendo develops a more powerful Switch 2 with more third party support but that is still compatible with the Switch, I might buy it. Otherwise, I'm happy with the Switch. I won't be in a hurry to upgrade. Just make sure I can pass my current games over.
If the Switch 2 dock had a graphics accelerator that would be awesome.
I'm not sure I get what you mean. Like a secondary GPU? if so, the Switch would need to dock with a ultra high speed interface for it to really use it ie PCI Express
Nintendo sells on content, game play & kids of all ages not to Hardcore gamers. Every console had that in mind. Its not about high end graphics its really about fun
Don't want a steam deck. I just want to play without adjusting settings every game.
funny how she thinks like I do.
My nephew JUST got a Switch for Christmas a few months ago and absolutely loves it.
I personally think it would be cool if there was a "Switch Home" where you simply have a Switch console that isn't portable; more of a Desktop that has easily expandable memory with SSD's as well as support for WiiMotes and better, bigger new motion controllers they could EASILY make money off of.
Yes. We do.
I wonder if one reason why the industry is in the state it's in is because there's just too many damn games, and not enough gamers. Back in the good ole 80's you'd play the s^&* out of one game. Now, there's so many to choose from, with varying prices.
Nintendo has proven that you don't need to be as powerful as the PS5 or Xbox to be successful. AAA games are not doing so well these days compared to the indie games.
This is why the PlayStation Portable is one of my favourite consoles of all time, because it was console gaming on handheld.
I love my Switch! The only thing I’d really like is if the frame rate was a tad better in some demanding games. Other than that, it just doesn’t need improvement. I’m happy with it.
This one is a yes 😊
Nintendo has always been about fun, does the tech serve the fun? Something that other companies ought to take a lesson from.
Lady decade i gotta say, since i started following you, youve quickly become one of my favorite places to get news like this. I appreciate all of your takes.
Yes. Many Switch games have performance issues. Using dynamic resolution often drops them to a muddy mess. Do Switch games even have anti-aliasing, because I see jaggies everywhere in Switch games. Many 3rd party games, particularly AAA games, skip Switch because they can't run on it, and this issue is getting more pronounced now that many developers have abandoned PS4/XB1 in favour of PS5 and SX. We 100% need a Switch 2, no question.
I'm sure Nintendo thinks so as well. They would love to get the next new Resident Evil or Final Fantasy. And gamers would appreciate better performance and resolution. It's been 7 years since Switch launched. There should be no resistance to a new generation, and I don't understand why anyone in their right mind would take issue with it.
Something to consider is Japan is going through a recession right now, so a brand new product might ironically be extremely expensive there compared to the US.
Honestly both you and the Top Hat Gaming man are now my favorite gamer/collector/historians! Live long and prosper! Give my regards to your awesome hubby!
I think we need an updated switch with more power. Not necessarily for a next gen console yet but just a refresh to help get a better frame rate in some of the more demanding games. The switch library is massive and I think people didn't get to play enough of it yet. So many games I didn't even know about. Maybe have it upscaled to 4k. I'd buy that.
The thing is that Nintendo has built its brand in part on interesting and fun departures in gaming technology, identifying some niche that people didn't even know was there. Switch 2 just sounds like more of the same, which isn't *bad*, but it's not going to create a buzz either and would be in danger of going the same way as the Wii U.
They just need to create a version of the Switch that has backwards compatibility with the old one. So allow games to run on both but allow higher fidelity on the new switch. Then games exclusive to the new hardware can be released digitally only, that way theres no risk of people buying the wrong game for the console like what happened with the New 3DS.
Nintendo has done this before with the DSi, it works.
I think we do because some of these AAA games on Switch run like dogshit. They need a more powerful version so they run better
Because the games are to big in scale if they shrink the size of assets the games would play better stop blaming
Nintendo because companies can't or won't do their job right
Modern video gaming-wise, I hate Nintendo because they have habits of shutting down their online servers on their modern online Nintendo consoles (Both home and handheld) and moving on to their next-generation modern online Nintendo consoles (Both home and handheld). Retro video gaming-wise, I love Nintendo because they created some great consoles (Both home and handheld) in the past from the NES/Famicom all the way to the GameCube and the Game Boy family (From the original all the way to the GBA).
It would be great to have a Switch 2 competing with PSP 2. Now that would be the battle of the colossus.
Sony's upcoming portable (if it is real) is rumoured to launch around the same time as PS6, so that would put it at around 2026 or 2027.
Yes. The problem with the current Switch is the CPU is not drawing fast enough for the GPU to render. That is why there are jitters, stuttering, etc.
thanks for the video recap i guess.
During pandemic I was thinking whether to buy a new gaming PC or some console. Eventually Switch won for me because I can take it with me while traveling (what I do a lot). And boy did it exceed my expectations... I played so many games I played in the past (plenty of remakes of old games are made for switch) and games I haven't played ever that were absolutely great.
If they make version with better hardware and maintain compatibility with games I already bought for switch 1 I'm buying into it.
Yes we do need a Nintendo Switch 2.
Nintendo will come out on top if there is another video game industry crash.
They have done it before, they will do it again.
It can use a refresh at the least after all this time. It should not be hard to pump a nice extra chunk of power without making it cost much more. I hope that they do not bother with 4k, would much rather the power go to the game rather then to make the screen be four times the detail.
It'd be happy if there was a pause on consel development and PC advancement until the disposable income increases world wide. A switch 2 making it so we can get newer games on the switch like FFXVI would be good. and the developers can not worry about improving their games graphics or textures but mastering the graphics people expect from them we'd be in a better spot.
@LadyDecade
Before even watching the video I'm going to answer your question: "Do We Really Need A Nintendo Switch 2!?" YES, we really need a successor to the Switch! One that is 100% backward compatible, has modern specs, with modern power profile benefits and we need it soon. Silly question, but you asked it..
What we need is 🤫🤫🤫🤔🤫 *mews*
A Sega CD 2
There was already a Mega(Sega) CD2, it was an add on for the Mega Drive(Genesis) 2
I love when you seem to have a chip on your shoulder about a certain subject. Defending something that means so much to so many people is bad-ass. You're fearlessly challenging the status quo of gaming. It's bad-ass as much as it is honorable.
NS2 can't even run BotW at a steady 30, so yeah. I own a Switch and I haven't turned it on in months. I'd rather just emulate my games instead. As for whether it'll be compatible with existing Switch games. Everything we've heard indicates that the new chipset is from nVidia, which will definitely be compatible.
I just started playing the Super Mario RPG remake and there are clear frame stutters in a few places. The Switch is at its absolute limits when it comes to performance.
@@fattiger6957 I don’t worry about performance I worry about the gameplay and just enjoy the game. People are too sensitive to frame rates. I mean it’s so controversial that paper Mario the year door only runs at 30 FPS which hardware is showing its age but it can still hold its own, I choose not to compare it to competition. I take it for what it is. I mean it’s not like Sonia and Microsoft make cutting edge hardware either.
@@Adamtendo_player_1 Gameplay is directly affected by performance. Stuttering is immersion breaking. Games dynamically dropping in resolution to a muddy mess makes for an unpleasant visual experience.
People have the right to demand high, stable framerates, especially considering video games have gone up in price. I'm sure all Nintendo 1st party games for this new system will be $70 to match PS and XB.
As long as people just handwave away their faults, Nintendo will just get arrogant and lazy (which Nintendo has a history of doing when they succeed) The company is hurt more than helped by their fans just acting like everything they do is perfect.
The problem with Steam is the same problem Nintendo addressed with their seal of quality. The Atari and the 1983 crash came from millions of third party titles that were crap. Steam has done very little to prevent the fecal matter mill from producing crap. If you want good gaming, or gaming at all for the future, don't support Steam or Microsoft.
I'd like to see Switch 2 be backwards compatible, output 4K, have at least 256GB of internal storage, and be powerful enough to handle navigating the eShop because Switch can *barely* handle it and it's super slow.
I know that many people are frustrated that Lady Decide has not been making videos about retro gaming.
I respect those feelings.I wish classic movies were still the focus of AMC and TCM
Personally, I am glad for the expansion of topics. Gaming has a fascinating history, but she shouldn't miss out on covering the present and future. She should explore all aspects of her passion.
I am double glad that she can host on screen more often too. 😍
I still greatly miss her doing the catchphrase though. 🤷
PS: Don't get me startled on the Boomerang channel. 😡
I'm covering a retro gaming themed topic tomorrow, funnily enough! Thank you for your kind words x
I would like a Switch that plays all the Switch games that I have and gets comparable ports of 3rd party titles that the PS5 and/or Xbox Series X get. Until I get a Switch that can competently play Resident Evil Village and Tekken 8. I'll want a new one.
The answer to this question is so unbelievably obvious if you see how much demand is for it. Yes… the answer is yes.
It’s not called Switch 2 but if your asking do we need a more powerful Nintendo console the answer is yes call of duty has a 10 year contract with Nintendo
We need a gamecube sequel. The gamecube was my favorite Nintendo system of all time. Had a great library and tons of charm. It was the last time Nintendo attenpted to compete. It had twilight princess bd windwaker which aremy 2 favorites of tha franchise. It gave us luigis mansion and metroid prime! I miss that little cube!
We do not need another GameCube we need another generation of switch Nintendo success with the Nintendo Wii and the handheld systems prove that you don’t need to be competing with the lack of Sony and Microsoft to be successful Nintendo switch is the biggest proof that you don’t need cutting edge hardware it’s all about the games a Nintendo switch is my favourite Nintendo system by a country mile. You clearly hate the switch because it’s not what the GameCube was.
I’d say it’s like do we really need a Ps5 slim? No. But as long as someone is willing to pay for it they will have it.
However, do I WANT a Nintendo Switch 2? You know, as a kid I’d be amped but, I could keep playing the OG switch for another 4 years if they keep supporting it with great 1st party games and great 3rd party support. Otherwise what’s the point? I don’t care about ray tracing, don’t care about any of that. If it’s a major upgrade where it’s “oh gotta have it!!”
Nowadays except for the OG Switch I haven’t been amped about another console. It’s about how fun the games are.
The real question is, if it’s handheld will it be OLED out of the gate/will it support vrr. VRR will help the system age a lot better than this switch era hardware
Nintendo switch 1 has 8y old cpu and gpu, a new switch would improve a LOT of things (battery life, graphics, possibilities of development etc)
If it isn't backwards compatible I won't buy it ever.
Do you realize games can downloaded onto switch backwards compatibility is not a thing anymore they just have to make sure in the software of the new console
Hopefully it will be ready once the ps6 confirm there release date. Switch 2 needs to be 10 gen console. Hopefully it will include a XL like version that compete spec wise with handheld gaming consoles and the ps6.
Absolutely yes. The Switch's hardware is lacking in many areas.
The Switch wasn’t designed to compete with the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, it wasn’t meant to compete with those consoles, people need to stop comparing the Switch with home consoles, the Switch is a hybrid console a portable Xbox 360 and PS3, I love my Switch OLED, it’s the reason I’m still interested in what passes for gaming and the Witcher 3 on Switch is a miracle port and while it’s not the best version, it’s impressive that they got it to run on Switch and I don’t have a PS4 or any other console by choice and I’ve gone in to my reasons why already, but the Switch is amazing and it’s first party games are why I bought the Switch along with Nintendo’s philosophy which resonates with me. I do think we need Switch 2 as the current Switch can’t last forever.
The Switch could not even compete with ps4 & xbox one, which were both released in 2013. As you wrote, It has graphics that are much closer to the ps3/xbox 360 era, but this fact didn't stop it from selling out like crazy.
Yeah, i want one. I've enjoyed Nintendo's games this generation.
When your hardware is 10 years old and struggles to run triple A titles at 1080p…yeah we’re long overdue
I recently bought switch lite I am waiting for switch 2 to get the whole experience
As long as it's reasonably priced and has good specs I'd buy it.
Yes! As long as the new games are good!
