If you ever have a chance to be in Manila, San Juan Green Hills area, you should go to Carousell creamery. Their ice cream is exactly like US ice cream. It is made to the same formula and they always have at least 30 or 40 flavors available every day.

We just got home on Jan 30 after 3 weeks in the Philippines. Like u guys we are already thinking of when we can go back. Scott, have u ever been there for a long period of time during rainy season? Our plan in retirement is to eventually spend Jan to Easter there and be in Canada from April to Christmas. I've only been in January and the weather has been exactly what I would hope for 30C and sunny in the day and low to mid 20C at night, perfect. For now we like going in January when we can, beautiful weather.
I have not been there other than Nov-Jan timeframe. Like you I have only experienced the nicer weather.
My gf says that if she ever comes to Ohio we’ll need to have a 6 month stock because she’s not going outside during winter to shop 😂😂

Mexican food is definitely something I miss. Although there is a couple of restaurants in Clark that come pretty close to authentic

I feel for you guys. I have lived most of my life in Michigan. When I was younger I did not mind the cold and snow, but now I despise it. One of my motivations to move to the Philippines. Take care - hopefully you don't get sick from the climate change.

Many interesting topics there guys, all of which we can identify with, except it doesn't get that cold here. You're are a nice couple. Our plan is to go back to Cebu late 2025 permanently. Hope to meet up with you guys sometime in the future, trouble is we will be on different islands, but we'll see what happens? Bob n Lina. NZ.

My wife and I are going back in March for 3 weeks for mom's 80th birthday. Probably look at some land for sale if there's time. Hurry up and retire, Philippines is calling you back 😁.

The trip is always the worst for me also. I travel from northern Virginia to Philippines. I always try to get a flight that is one stop, either Korea or Japan, but either way it’s a long miserable trip and since I can’t sleep it makes it even longer, but once you touch down in Philippines you forget the trip fast. The only thing I really miss back home is the food. Nothing taste the same to me in the Philippines even simple things like chicken, pork. I love tomato’s and even they are not good, I still love the Philippines and have no plans returning to the states. 😊

You do have my deepest sympathy ! (🥲) Weather 'here' in the US > SUCKS !!! -- (I'm in Ky.) -- But I will be retiring in Tagaytay this fall. -- 1st time for me - been researching for over a year and a half. A comfortable climate was my top priority where I wouldn't be sweating all the time & needing AC. Good food selection was very important & cost of living naturally. Close proximity to Manila for fun or quality medical was also desirable. + Airport access for travel or Batangas for the beach. Seemed ideal for many reasons important to me ? The scenic beauty is incredible also. -- But - when I go - I won't be coming back to these insanely ridiculous inflationary prices !!! My SS alone will provide a quite comfortable semi - thrifty life to my satisfaction. 🤭 ❤ 👏 💪 👊 🤗 🙏 💫 🌼 🌹 ✌ 🍺 🍧 🦞 ✈
