      yeah right,,,,paradise does not last that long, he will see,,,,Its just about sex with teenage girl, and thats it. Infrastructure here sucks, noise sucks, dirt and pollution suck....Just a bunch of foreigner pervs, and thats it. Maybe u can find a few relationships that work, but the PI is a dump.....I have been visiting for 25 years, lived in cebu for years. I will never go back, and i grew up with filipinos in the USA. We have over 220k filipinos here in USA in my city, very very few want to visit or live in the PI. They just think all of the foreigners are big pervs, losers and uneducated men,,,,hahaha,,,,Just the facts

    You guy's did a great job on the house Scott, personally we gave up on living in the Philippines. The noise pollution, air pollution, water pollution could be overlooked or tolerated when we were in our 20's & 30's but now as we are almost 60 these things are unliveable for us. Of course we will continue to visit for a few months every year but the dream of living permanently died a couple years back. Great job on the house!

    It turned out great! Looks like you found some very skilled workmen that do a quality job. I've got a few questions, if you feel comfortable answering. Did you have to get permits for any of the work you did or do they just consider this maintenance/replacement in the Philippines? Did you consider asking your neighbor on the garage side if you could just render their wall to get the finish you want? That would have saved the time and expense of the block work and the top of your stub wall would have made a great plant shelf for Cecile. :) Again, very nice improvements that really dress the house up. Great vid!

    • @Marker44
      @Marker44  6 месяцев назад

      We did not talk to the neighbor about their wall. If it all possible we prefer to have our own rather than share theirs. Strange things can happen here. Id rather have my own wall.

    Hi Scott and Cecile. Thank you for the great content. You've done a very nice job with upgrading the house. The perimeter walls look great and preferable to looking at your neighbors unfinished wall surface. I'm curious if the metal roof has raided the the temperature in that outside space. We put a new fiberglass roof on the dirty kitchen. I was told by my family in Surigao City that the metal roof can make the space hotter.
    Editing this comment to add that for some reason, RUclips unsubscribed me from your channel. Not sure why. I'm a Premium Member and I've not seen this happen prior, but you might remind your subscribers to check their subscriptiion to your channel. Cheers.

      Thank you for the compliment. We have been having some mysterious issues with youtube lately. Glad you subbed again...thank you! I dont think heat will be an issue since the roof is so high and open on three sides but I believe what your family is saying is true. We experience that on our back porch in the US.

    On your walls not yet painted, you can use four different collars of paint and paint murals on them. Take a picture you would like on the walls and draw a grid on it like tic-tac-toe. Then draw the same amount of blocks on the picture on the wall. Now just paintwhat is in each block in the picture on the same block on the wall. Don't draw the reference lines to dark. You don't want to see them when you are done.
    Sorry, I can't see responses to my comments. Looks good.

    In the Philippines, most houses have their lots surrounded by barrier walls. Is it because of the need for security is so high because the local neighborhoods are unsafe? Compared to houses in the US with open front grass lawns and the people just wring the door bell or knock on the front door.

    • @Marker44
      @Marker44  6 месяцев назад

      I think security is the main reason. We have never had any issues but there is not a strong police presence in most places. Ive never felt unsafe but also enjoy the privacy the walls provide.

    I see OSHA does not exist in the Philippines - LOL. That guy welding up on that wall with no insulating gloves - WOW! Your house looks really good inside and out. Kudos to you and Cecile. Would your opinion be that refurbishing an existing house in pretty good shape is a better route to take than building a new home on a vacant lot in town? Seems like there would be a lot of cost savings. Of course it would be different out in the provinces. Just curious of your thoughts on that - seems like a lot of expats I see on RUclips are always building new homes. I am also curious, are the countertops and upper cupboards lower than in the U.S. to accommodate Filipinos shorter heights? Take care there.

    • @Marker44
      @Marker44  6 месяцев назад +1

      Thank you for your comment. Our upper cabinets and countertops seem to be about standard height as in the US. Hard for Cecile to reach in either country lol. In our case the renovation worked better because we wanted to do the projects a few each year out of pocket. We also didnt have land already. So if we would have built a house we would have had to buy a lot first. Inside the city that would have been expensive. We are a little under 4 million so far with the house purchase and renovations.

    The Philippines is great for a home away from home but you miss the Western culture and quality of everything. But there are some great positives to living in the Philippines but it’s no longer in the top places to retire as the country is changing.
