    Gorgeous as always! Goth Boss Lady vibes are to die for. 🖤 I think a really deep, dramatic cowl in the back of a black evening dress would be absolutely amazing, but, as a fellow individual that *always* has to wear a bra, don't know if it would be possible. Maybe with an organza underlayer with boning built into the front?

    I’m so sorry that the camera hit you in the face😢! As someone who has slipped on dry sidewalks…I am in full solidarity.
    Also quite like the colour gradient of this cowl necked number. It almost seems sparkly on camera (and I do love sparkle)

      Thank you! Better the camera hit my face than something that would break it, but still...😩😂

    I have watched yout videos for a long time, and I love you dearly! For some reason my damn brain cannot wrap my head around the bodice block. I can make things from a pre made pattern, but I have tried to do the block a few times and when I try to add in the measuerents it never looks right!
    But I love watching your videos anyway!

      Thank you Ashley! Things can get wonky fast drafting the blocks from measurements, I recommend modifying a simple darted dress pattern to serve as a block pattern set! There are a few commercial "fitting shell" or sloper patterns out there too that could be great starting points as well ❤

      @@TheClosetHistorian Just to be honest, I am fangirling! I am working on a frankinpattern between Simplicity 8051 Kwik sew k4199 with SPIDER WED FRABIC! I did a mock up and things are looking like they should fit! Thank you for all of your videos I learn so much!

    FYI - you can put any garment in the freezer overnight and all bacteria including those that create smells are inactive. I do this with my jeans and jackets all the time.

    The dress looks so elegant, it reminds me a bit of Rachel and your version of her iconic dress. It was included in the saboteur video, or do I remember incorrectly? Anyway, the fabric is just perfection❤❤❤

    This is purely selfish but I have a bust dart from apex to shoulder (because I'm very short waisted with large bust-to-waist- difference) and was wondering if there was a way to move THAT dart fullness into the cowl. I'd love a video about that but totally understand if that's too niche. Happy to see it here or Patreon!

    • @TheClosetHistorian
      @TheClosetHistorian  Год назад

      You can always move dart fullness anywhere around the bust, so you can close any of the darts you've got into a new dart at the center front from the apex. Darts never have to stay where they start, the dart legs just have to radiate from the apex, but to anywhere. So the amount of dart fullness stays consistent, but it can be split into multiple darts, all put into one, whatever you want to do for a new design. I have a couple of visual demos of this in my darts video which can be found here ruclips.net/video/JRO-GWfHyiM/видео.html
      Putting some of the dart fullness into a center front dart 90 degrees from the apex for the cowl tips the rest of the bodice out away from the center front line, adding ease to the folds hanging down the center in the finished garment.
