I have recently started getting into fashion a lot for the sake of curiosity. Now I'm getting invested because I want to know more about how clothing is made. It fascinates me how much passion goes into this. It's truly an artform of it's own. My goal is to be able to create my own clothing, including footwear.
I’m 2 years deep into making a solid pair of pants. Some of the people I’ve consulted for advice had taken 4 years to nail the pants they make today. Patience is key.
This. I started sewing in 2015 and it wasn’t til 2019 where I really find tuned my way of making pants and then I reinvented it again in 2021. A school channel you can watch for tutorials on sewing is Atelier saison
I can tell you enjoy the patternmaking aspect of designing clothes as much as I do! Rushing to make the garment has been my biggest obstacle in designing clothes because I'm so eager to see how my pattern fits!
I really didn't get nothing from this video sewing wise but I sure laughed a lot, n feel encouraged. I am subscribed just so when I need to be cheered up. Thank uuuuuuu, hope to see more videos from u.
Omg I thought I was the only one at least in 2022 constantly going back to Avery’s video because he’s so good at explaining and enunciates words so clearly
I would urge you all to check out any of Rory Duffy's videos on handsewing and the garment making process. I went to Monaghan to learn from him. Pattern drafting and making courses, and it was great.
Great video dude, it was really fun seeing you do this type of video. It will be really interesting seeing how your perspective changes as you create more clothes yourself
Awesome video Michael. I've been making clothes for almost a year, and I feel you when you say it is difficult to get access to got resources. Also, you should make a discord for people how want to talk about sewing and making clothes!
Lol don't worry, nobody, even seasoned professionals, get the fit right on the first try. If you're amazing, you can get it perfect in two fittings. I got new designs I'm working on and I'm on the 3rd or 4th iteration and still have to make tweaks. That's the life of making your own designs. My advice is to just be patient and be picky! Make sure the design is complete to the degree you imagined it, because nothing is more annoying than rushing it for the sake of completion only to realize it would look better if you added that detail wanted.
you did a great job considering the limited supply you have. I thought the pants turned out pretty good except that the theighs may have been a tiny bit baggy...unless that was the look you were going for. Yes, it has been a few years and i really want to make my own pair. But I would like to do an absolute step by step for those like myself who don't have a clue...lol. thanks for the continued vid.
this is very nice arland, i personally wanted to get into making my own clothes and stuff bc of you. will defo take a while to fully get into it but for now I'm hovering on research. also really like this video type 10/10 as per usual!
Came here from your Schiaparelli video. I love Surrealist fashion and thought Roseberry has done well to revitalize the house. More of these trial and error fashion videos, please. It's helpful and good of you to reference and credit your sources / other fashion channels. Your channel will continue to grow for sure! I remember when Zoe Hong was breaking 100k.
No I am not, this machine is a very cheap brother machine. For thicker materials, I'd recommend getting an appropriate heavy duty needle, as all types of materials require different needles. If you're sewing something like leather, you may also need to change your presser foot in order for the material to feed into the machine easier. Use high quality thread that is appropriate for use. If your machine isn't terrible it should be able to handle thicker materials given that you take these other steps. Sew slower and also hand crank as often as needed for especially thick parts. There may be cases where you just have too many layers to stitch and if you don't have access to a suitable machine, you might just have hand stitch that part. Hope that helped, best of luck!
I used to love that channel!!! Ive sewn for over 20 years (i started extremely young) but 100% charity shop curtains/bedsheets are great for toiles. Most of the fabric shops in london will deliver fabric all over in case you want some really great luxury fabrics In regards to Clo, how user friendly is it? Ive always just made pattwrns by hand using the guides from the Winifred Aldridge books
Oh wow didn't know you lived in the Netherlands. Do you have any store recommendations for the Netherlands? I live there myself but maybe you know some stores or places i don't know about :)
I didn't have anything else to add for this video in regards to information and I didn't want to just add sewing b-roll as it's hard to use good music on RUclips without getting the whole video claimed by the music's owner. For this type of video I think short and sweet is best!
Can't wait to see your next project with better materials. And a big "thumbs down" to your Backseat RUclipsr assistant for insulting what is in fact a very nice ass.

This is true, I just wish I hadn't stopped altogether a few months ago but I'm at where I'm at!

2:21 at the Dollar Store in the US most of the Christmas wrapping paper comes with a grid back... which really helps in the drafting of a pattern.

PLEASE more vids like this, i'd genuinely love to see more efforts of you trying to craft jeans (or clothing in general)
Would love monthly or every 2 months a tut on how to sew something
Can’t wait for the 2023 version 🙏
very chill vibes from this guy

avery was the goat back in the day!
making a pair of jean is kinda just a matter of time. but making the perfect pair is a matter of a whole lifetime
I just made the patterns for my first pair of pants on clo3d, nice to see you post different type of content :)

Well done on your attempts of making trousers; you have to start somewhere and mistakes is what you will make; every spoil is a fashion.

Yes!
Gotta be my favorite fashion page
I love that this is a raw and realistic look at sewing - I find most of the sewing vids on youtube pretty unrelatable
Love the vid man! Keep it up I’m down for these type of videos anyway
the fact that this isn't in 60fps makes it utterly unwatchable
jk. this was great. you have a very relatable perspective.

these typa videos are so good imma become a patreon fr
Sup. you are not using an industrial sewing machine right? Any advice on how to sew/stitch thicker garments with a domestic sewing machine?
