- Modifying 5.7L 345 V8 Hemi for higher horsepower (hp) & big power! In this we will go over what I would do if I wanted to modify 5.7L V8 Hemi for high horsepower to compete with Hellcats or forced air scatpacks on the street. Remember this is just to build power, for fast 1/4 mile times you will also need other upgrades outside of power adders. Where you have a 5.7L in Charger, Challenger, Magnum, 300, Jeep or Ram this video should help give you ideas of how to build big HP!
If you're going to modify a 5.7L V8 Hemi - do it right!?! Make sure to strengthen up the internals so you can crank up the boost!

I’m not gone lie as a Chevy guy i been thinking to switch side too main reason for the thought was I prefer a sedan with a lot power (that’s rear wheel, not front wheel “Impala”) And Chevy is failing to deliver so the charger has really been grabbing my attention the pass few years.
Havin bugger all cash my 300 5.7 is definitely a budget build 6.4 inlet, pulley kit, cai, coil packs, 180 thermo next month new 3inch exhaust with varex mufflers so I can have a malaka button then a proper tune and a cam. It's a horsepower money pit, I luvs me hemi

Love the build. I agree, the 5.7 is a great, but often time overlooked platform. I’m hoping Dodge doesn’t kill it off when they get rid of the Hellcats..

You can get to that level multiple ways, certainly a nice amount of power. I was at 400whp with my cammed 5.7L - had a lot of fun! Thanks man for the support
I just got my 2021 RT challenger with shaker and the plus package and harden stereo. It’s perfect in every way don’t need to do anything but enjoy it

I just want 5ish to the wheels honestly. I have a 2014 rt. Not looking to out run ppl, especially with 550 hp. It's 2021 that's baby numbers but I like my baby numbers that I'm wanting.

You can do a Cam, Long tube, exhaust, manifold, throttlebody & intake for 400whp. It's a very fun power level to be at

Where did you get the 1050 injectors and 525 pump?
The 525 walbro pump is in the hellcats - does a solid job until you get into the 700+whp. The ID1050-XDS injectors are pretty much the most popular option in the mopar world. I don't have any experience with them, I went FIC 1440 injectors.
Are the injectors for the “6.2”
You can use them on the 6.2L

R/T... what perfect timing! I was down at my local performance shop earlier today and ordered my long tubes/Cats, that'll hook right up to my Borla Exaust, 260 CAM upgrade including lifters, springs, valves all that good stuff. Additions include Billet catch can, PCM, Hp Tuners. Wk2 5.7 hemi V8, waking up the beast. Performance rotors/pads going on this week. Velgen Rims and lowering springs are in the plans too.

Your intake tubing rides low ypu hitting a dip would be expensive
Congratulations on your build, your car has come a long way since I met you 3 years ago. You are absolutely correct about the potential of the 5.7 and you have definitely shown what can be done. Like you , my Shaker R/T has been extensively modified and is a 10 sec. car. As you went the turbo route, I went with a ProCharger. Hope to see what your car is capable of at the track this upcoming season.
So many awesome options with these 5.7L hemi's. The procharger or vortech route was really a big consideration - just landed a great deal on this turbo system. Thank you for supporting the journey - def plenty more to come for this R/T.

I'm gonna look into goin this route on my magnum I had a 426 stroker in mind but soon as I finish finish charger bulldog I will make my decision. P.S I love the 5.7 platform I had one over 10 years no matter what I get I'm keepin one with me.
You can mod the hell out of these 5.7 hemi's to make some really big power! You're doing great with that Charger - def want to review it when you're ready.

Going to start my build this spring, I have a 2008 300c awd 5.7 Hemi with 160k and it runs great, bought it at 2 years old and have babied it but still had to keep it outside and ride it through New England winters, I think anyone that has a Hemi anything might want to hang on to it because they say they are going to discontinue that motor in favor of EVs. Stupid move on their part I think.

Great video, have used a lot of add-on parts to our '14 Chrysler 300C hemi, with factory 2.5" Challenger R/T exhaust bolted on the car with JBA shorty headers, exhaust note is very quiet but has that distinctive hemi rumble and will rattle things in the house when you pull it in the garage. Also using a 180 F. thermostat with fans set accordingly, a Fastman ported throttle body, Sultans of Spark hi-output coils firing iridium tip NGK plugs, Transgo automatic shift/respool kit & full trans service including flushing, Diablosport tune with MDS shut off, trans shifting set to "firmer", and redline reset to 6200 RPM and shift points at 6 grand.
This car is now faster than my '12 Challenger R/T and is a bonafide sleeper, and will get rubber on a 1-2 shift in sport mode even w/traction control on. I use the stock airbox, it works just as good as a CAI and pulls in cold air from outside through the bottom.
My Challenger has essentially the same mods except for a 91 octane tune now and a full SRT exhaust from headers to Flowmaster 3" catback exhaust and it is a manual 6 speed.
These cars are fun to tweak & modify!
So many routes you can go with modding these 5.7L Hemi's. That's a nice upgrade list & I bet it was fun hunting down the parts - watching that 300c get faster & faster. That's the 1/2 the fun of owning these Hemi's - bolting on upgrades & making it faster! Good stuff
@@RTLife the nice thing is that my wife can get in this car and drive it normally, and it is very docile until you stomp on the loud pedal. She commented about the "great passing gear" on the highway when she was driving it, LOL!

That's right the 5.7l engine has potential for tuning - but there are people who would like something faster from the factory.
Not everyone has the time or inclination to tune a car.
Especially since there are guidelines in many countries (for example germany) in which tuning can only be carried out under certain guidelines, which unnecessarily costs more money and even more headache.

I had a scat pack ordered from CarMax but cancelled it because I really like my RT and I'm very happy with it. It has more than enough power and I plan on tuning it down the road. Plus I'm in love with the burgundy color.
When you're ready to add power, the options are endless. These Hemi's are awesome

Can you throw the srt exhaust manifold on a 5.7 as something you’d just do as a replacement? Mine has a couple cracked bolts as of now and i just wanna change the whole deal
Only question I have will the whipple 2.9L supercharger works well with a 5.7 Hemi MDS. I seen in other blogs people have to disable the MDS just to add boost. I have challenger a 5.7 hemi

My pb is 12.91 stock my car is in shop now doing little bit of mods should hit 11.9s or faster just with tune & trans tune and few other changes. Can't give evening away just yet lol . Hopeing to make it up your way next race season. Keep up the good work you made the 5.7 R/T community Proud

Most people say “all that money you would put into the car you could’ve gotten a hellcat.” For me personally I have a scatpack and I want to do some type of supercharger on it. Any transmission upgrades ?
I have a 2009 charger RT I’m looking for a list of what I need to do to get it to hell cat numbers I.E hellcat blower can I keep everything stock or do I need to upgrade the internals? Any help would be great

Thanks for the awesome content man! Got a little disappointed myself when I installed long tubes and full exhaust and gained no power from it (after tune).. sounds great though. Oh well, you know these things don't always go our way! Gonna save up for a cam kit and that should help. Always love seeing when you upload a new video man and your ride is looking sick!
It happens man, the results on the dyno doesn't always go our way. (I've had some heart breaking dyno days haha) Both the headers & exhaust will pay off at some point. The cam will certainly pep that hemi up big time. Thanks man for the support - def appreciate it
I was feeling an R/T after Progressive quoted me 1200 for a Hellcat. Called back. And 1000 for a R/T haha. Charger more expensive than Challengers. Even a used Scat Challenger is $700

New to the channel. What are your recommendations for just a little lower end punch. I have a 345 and am looking for a little more kick off the line. I am thinking 392 intake, 3.09 rear end, and tune. I am not sure about going shorties or long tubes. I know the long tubes tend to drop on the lower end but I know you went shorties. What do you think?
I’ll be putting a 3.6L Kenne bell on my 410 stroker 5.7 SMS challenger in a few weeks. Hoping to make 800+ hp/Tq on 13lbs!

If I run the srt exhaust headers to run high flow cats will they have to be srt aftermarket or can I just use stock oem and just clear them out

You can make 1000whp with a forged 5.7. The only question is will your bank account be able to support it.
If you putting that much effort and money forged everything than not just half of the money

With everything you mentioned you need to be at least at 800 forged piston camshaft long tube headers bored out you block come on man 600 that’s silly 🙃
800 - now you need a new transmission, upgraded dual pump with return, upgraded rear end & drive shaft. A lot of $$$ getting up to that power level
Well if you already dropped all of that money in the car mines welcome do brembos New front suspension a hellcat transmission maybe
@@ChanelZiro point I'm trying to make is not everyone is looking to spend that kind of $$$ on their ride. $13k for a 650whp 10 second 5.7L will make many people plenty happy without having to spend tons of $$$ in parts that surround the HP. You can keep cranking up the boost for more power but the other parts to support it, drain a bank account quick.

Super helpful. I just picked up the srt exhaust manifolds from my speed shop for 100 bucks almost new. Favorite boost is supercharger for sure but I’m thinking more of a budget standpoint a procharger is a better bang for the buck. Just bought myself an edelbrock intake manifold
The SRT exhaust manifold is a solid option for saving some $$$. Let me know how it all plays out once you add some forced air.

An even cheaper route out there gate is nitrous as well ur talking between 550-650whp depending on mods and how much nitrous currently set up on mines making over 550+ and over 600 on a huge shot and fueling car still has more potential 💪 for Half the price of the supercharger or more like a third sone food for thought out there

Having a Procharged 5.7 Chally with just exhaust, shortys, and stock tune, I'd say to anyone who wants to keep it simple and keep awsome gas mileage, Just go Procharger. I actually love the build of power towards redline and wouldnt ever swap it for roots. Also the 5.7's have an absolutely glorious scream when winding out breathing boost like a super pissed small block can only deliver. I'd keep it on sound alone. But I'm plenty happy with 470 ish wheel. I bate everyone with my 345 emblems and smoke the shit out of em😃😃😆!
