    Typed up 6.4 intake manifold swap on a 5.7 and you were the first to pop up. You need a good tune to see that extra hp with bolt ons.

      The top end gains are 10 to 15 without tunes. The midrange is where the true gains are. I saw 35 to 40 from 1800 to 4500. I also ran a year without the srv hooked up. The Z Automotive srv kit is the way to go vs the MSD. Adjustable in the car, and won't fail due to heat under hood.

    Nice video. I have no automotive background, so please forgive the question. I noticed that you felt no significant power boost with the swap. Does your engine have "eagle" cylinder heads? Why did the seller sell the whole setup? Was he unhappy with it on his vehicle? I am unfamiliar with what you have done to your engine, but you really need more mods to make use of the 6.4 intake. All you basically did was lay groundwork for future mods. With the 5.7, you'll need to stroke it, add a camshaft, or both to make use of the extra capacity of the bigger intake. Do you have any plans to dyno your car for some hard data? On the injector wires, the common wire (the one that all the injectors have - brown/yellow in your case) is a common ground. The different colored wire for each injector will be a signal wire - the one that sends a positive pulse to open the injector. You will need to tap into the colored wire instead of the common ground for signal.

    • @n-power-automotive
      @n-power-automotive  3 года назад +6

      Hey thanks for the great questions and suggestions! The guy who I bought the 6.4 intake manifold, MDS box, etc from crashed his car so he was parting it out. As far as mods go, I have pretty much all the bolt ons but no internal mods. And while a cam or stroke would absolutely give me way more performance out of every bolt on I’ve done, the 6.4 intake manifold is supposed to give gains in TQ across the low to mid range RPM band. It’s been proven on many 5.7s. That’s why I’m suspecting I need a better tune based off of a data log. I haven’t planned on getting it dynoed, not to say I won’t someday. As far as the injector wire goes, if you watched the whole video at the end I explain how I messed up tapping into the wrong injector wire at first and had to tap into the other one to get an RPM signal, so I did figure that out. But again great questions!

      Yes, mine is an 09, and yes, starting in 09 the 5.7 changed and went to VVT and different heads. You can get adaptors to make it work, but from what I’ve read you lose most of the benefits of the 6.4 intake manifold on a pre-09 because the ports are a different shape and size. You’d be better off with a 6.1 intake manifold, especially if you plan on putting a cam in it later down the road.

    • @n-power-automotive
      @n-power-automotive  3 года назад +1

      Thank you! You may want to reconsider putting the 392 intake manifold on a pre-Eagle 5.7. The ports don’t match up at all so you have to use adapters, which from what I’ve read defeat the benefits of it. The MSD box is used to switch over from the long runners to the short runners at a certain RPM. The Circuit Boss is used to protect the electrical to and from the MSD box. It’s basically like adding a small remote fuse block.

    • @n-power-automotive
      @n-power-automotive  3 года назад +2

      Great question. I was told there’s no point in using the larger 6.4 injectors because they’d be too much for the 5.7, unless you’re making over 450hp, which I’m definitely not. The tuner would have to scale them back basically to 5.7 specs in order for the engine to run right. The 6.4 fuel rails are identical to the 5.7, as far as I know, so you should be able to use the 6.4 rails if you want.
