  • 392 intake manifold, 85mm BBK throttle body, LMI Leg Maker intake on 5.7L Hemi - 1st impressions, pricing & review. How much was the 392 intake manifold, did it help performance, did it help MPG, would I recommend it for the 5.7L hemi? Should you get a 6.1L intake manifold, Edelbrock intake manifold or 392 6.4L Intake manifold with active runners.

    I was kinda confused until you mentioned the cam upgrade so yeah, a higher rpm range cam is effectively useless without a corresponding intake. Your airflow will basically flatline when the cam is in the middle of its duty cycle and you basically won't make anymore power (you'll keep your torque though).

    Nice video, I have a 2014 5.7 out of a Ram pickup I plan to someday put in my 1970 Plymouth Duster and the idea of using an SRT 392 intake is appealing except for the front air intake, I have a hood scoop set up for vertical air intake like on older carb'd V-8s. I will be putting a factory replacement SRT 392 stick-shift cam in it though for sure, value for the money is excellent.

    I elected to purchase it new from Summit $671, I know I need the actuator $111(estimated) my big question do I use the stock MAF sensor or do I need to buy after market.
    I’ve heard 2013+ don’t need MSD just tune but can’t find anyone who actually did that so I’ll elect to do MSD.

    Hey man I know this is old but I have a 2005 Chrysler 300c I have put down plenty of upgrades and swaps, with conversions but I'm wondering will this work on my 05 gen or does there have to be any tune

  • @GDinero
    @GDinero 5 лет назад +3

    Can you do this on a 2007 dodge charger RT 5.7? Or would I need to go the 6.1 route since it's a first gen 5.7?

    • @RTLife
      @RTLife  5 лет назад +2

      I think you need to go the 6.1 route

    Do you recommend a 392 intake on a stock 5.7? Or do I need to change the cam? Or what do you need to change?

    When adding a 392 8ntake on a 5.7, is it necessary to do tune or is it optional??

    So is the 392 intake a direct bolt on? Or do you have to replace other things to get it on?

    Quick question did u have to get the MSD box in order to swap the intake manifolds?

  • @campanelli8
    @campanelli8 5 лет назад

    With the manifold do you have to to a cam too or no and if you do have a tuner once you put on the manifold does the pcm have to be reprogrammed

    Are the runners necessary? Can you just bolt on the mainfold and go?

    Awesome Video!! Did you get the intake with the 392 injectors? And did you use them?

    • @RTLife
      @RTLife  5 лет назад +1

      yes - the manifold had the 392 injectors in there & I kept them in.

    Another great video been watching a few... I'm just ordering a 21 Durango RT and as soon as that warranty is up it's going to get a make over.. the MSD is that required with the 392 intake or just a preference? Keep up the great videos and.am.also waiting for the dyno runs.. 😎🏁🇨🇦

      Youll lose about 15-25 peak HP without the short runners active. Allegedly there is a way to tune it with HP tuners, youll only need to power it. You'll also apparently need extensions for the back sensor/ TB wiring. Ive got the intake sittin in my garage but due to shortage in parts its been a nightmare.

    Did you look into - Edelbrock - Performer RPM Cylinder Heads for an upgrade; I'm thinking about the Performer RPM Heads, the Edelbrock Victor II EFI Intake Manifold, and BBK® - Power-Plus Series - Throttle Body with the Mopar CAI, this package runs about $3,500 in parts only. I watch the guys on Engine Masters - biggest BANG for the Buck on Hemi's according the Freiburger and Dulcich is the Performer Cylinder Heads.

    The look on your face during that first pull says it all, It sound like beast. Does that MSD box wire up the same way the stock 392s do or did you have to do a lot of splicing and cutting into the harness? Also, did you go with a stock 392 manifold or a ported one?

    • @RTLife
      @RTLife  5 лет назад +1

      I didn't do the wiring but I would imagine it's similar to that of a stock 392. The gentleman that installed it is a Dodge master tech. It def made a difference, it could be the combination of all my mods now just working together but this has certainly been a nice add.

    You should look at upgrading your hood to a t/a or hellcat to get some cool air in there and let some of that heat escape just my opinion keep on moding!!!🤘🏼🤘🏼

    Quick question, will the 392 intake work on a 2005 Ram 1500/ 5.7. Looking at the conversion and was curious if it would be possible.

    • @RTLife
      @RTLife  4 года назад

      I believe you have active runners already so the swap wouldn't really net you much performance gained. I think most Ram guys start porting their manifold & throttlebody.

    I have a 6.1 intake on mine I noticed low end loss but I haven’t tuned my car for it. I don’t think I’ll gain much over the eagle. It’s non ported and paid about 400 for it then bought used rails for about 100. I don’t think the top end is worth it but I’ll better judge once tuned. One thing for sure it gets HOT! in the summer. I’ll share my results soon.

    Sorry it took so long leave you a comment, stomach bug has me down. Dude thanks so much, love it. My only grip is the cold air intake. It's a shame it didn't work as planned. Is there anyway to cobble/fab to make it work?

      Limited slip, gears, and dyno time all u need now. That's my goal, to have all your mods, plus a tq converter. Gearing made my car a monster plus no more one wheel peels.
