Nice job Mr. Phil...I'm a fan of their printers. My original sidewinder has been very trouble free.
I'm new to 3d printing, and I just received my sidewinder X3pro, but when I try to level the bed on auto level it gives me a faliure message and the machine restars if i do the manual level and press center the printhead/extruder sits about 4 inches away from the printbed. I've been trying to level it for 3 days without success. The extruder also makes noises like if is skipping gears of treads when it moves up or down. I send already a couple of messages to artillery but I haven't received a reply yet. Has anyone had similar issues? How can you fix it? Again, I'm new to the hobby, so any help will be appreciated.
Thanks for your great review, what do you think about ender3-max-neo? Which printer do you prefer, I am a beginner and looking for my first printer.
Could you do a video on how to put in the screws precisely? The instructions are a bit tough for me. Ill sub!
Love to see it. I have the x4 plus in the studio now. I enjoyed the x3 pro
I'm a bit confused why they asked me to review the Plus only weeks before retiring it in favor of the 4, but it seems like a good machine nonetheless. They're violating GPL guidelines by not releasing the source code upon my request and I really don't care how much I piss them off by repeatedly saying it because I told them from the start I wanted the pins.h file from marlin to build a Klipper config. Other than that, it's definitely a nice printer 😺😺
I just wanted your Two Trees SK1 review last night 😊
@@TheFeralEngineer Love to see it. Thanks man! And yeah I think a lot of manufacturers are skating by the nonrelease of required files. It honestly doesnt make any sense because it's not like someone is going to steal their hardware....but even if it was so, it does seem like a double standard theyre making for themselves. I definitely dont agree with companies not giving out what they are required to give out when they use freely licensed tools. As for why they gave out the 3 plus, I think they are still trying to push it. It's still a relatively new printer. I think the primary difference is klipper vs marlin in most variants.
just bought mine very happy with your video
I think you'll enjoy it. I really like mine
Can you help me with the creation of the configuration for this printer with the printer info wizard? I cant get it to connect to the BL5K or run a successful test on the wizard. Not even by watching the creator videos.
@@merpolis93 connect to the printer with pronterface first and see if that helps
@@TheFeralEngineer does the BL5K requires any special inputs for this printer? or was it just plug and play for you, apart from adding all the leveling points and so on?
@@merpolis93 connected almost right away, but I had to load pronterface first. You basically just open pronterface, connect to it, disconnect from it and bl5k will connect immediately. There's something going on with how he initializes the serial connection that isn't quite right and won't look at the source code from pronterface for whatever reason to see what they are doing
@@TheFeralEngineer Will try that. Thanks a bunch!
@@TheFeralEngineer worked like a charm!
Can I work with cura slicer on it? ..... and what you suggest now.... X3 plus or X4 plus ... i'm using only anycubic vyper model for long time
@@mohammedmostafamamun7112 yes
Do you think they made your printer better since they knew it was going to be reviewed?
Nah, it still had some quirks to it. I really would like to Klipper it, but they won't make good with the pinout on the stm32 🤬
@@TheFeralEngineer do you think it’s better than the ender 3 v3 se?
@@navykitty5339 I really like how quickly the hot end heats up on the X3 plus, but at this price point, it's best to go with brands that have a reputation for good support.
Creality misses the mark on support, but they say that they are working on it. Elegoo has the best support I've seen, but they're inundated with some growing pains with their Neptune 4 models. Artillery was quick to respond to me when I needed the screws for the filament cleaner, but that could just be because I was testing their machine. I am a little salty that they are in clear violation of GPL for refusing to share their source code with me upon request, but they both seem like good machines.
The thing with comparing the E3v3se with the X3 plus is that the X3 plus is a substantially larger machine. They have the X3 pro, but that's already getting replaced by the X4 pro with Klipper. Print quality wise, I think the Artillery printed better out of the box than the E3v3se, but now that the E3 is running Klipper, that's a non-issue. Artillery had a better user interface (4.3" touchscreen vs 3.2" knob screen) and it came with a filament sensor as standard, but the inductive sensor locks you into using PEI whereas the E3 came with a CRTouch installed, which means I could switch to a glass bed or G10 if I wanted to. I can't do that with the X3.
I guess what I'm trying to say is that they all have their pros and cons, no one company will be the perfect solution, but they all have proven to do a decent job at what they do.
@@TheFeralEngineer what do you think of the Sovol svo6 plus?
@@navykitty5339 same thing, really. It all comes down to price and support. I haven't used the sv06 plus, but I used the sv07 plus and it seemed like a decent machine. I didn't care for the fact that they use an rk3328 as their processor of choice for running Klipper, but I haven't seen much about them being an issue other than running insanely hot.
Hello, I bought one recently and I have a lot of problems with the concentric nuts, the bed doesn't stop wobbling, I don't know anymore.
There's a little clearance slop in every machined hole that accepts a screw. Try loosening all of the screws from both the fixed side and the eccentric nut side and try and shift them all in the direction of where they would contact the extrusion, then tighten the screws and try to adjust the eccentric nuts

@@TheFeralEngineer i did 🫡
@@Model_god greatly appreciated 🐱🐱
Looks like a nice machine for the most part. Be neat to see it running klipper.
Oh don't worry, I keep harassing them for the Marlin source code so I can get the pin file I need.
Great Review :)
one question ,I have a problem with the x axis, when I move it and it reaches the limit switch it doesn't stop and makes a strange noise, like it's scratching, what can it be?
Check the connections again. Sounds like the X axis limit switch is disconnected
@@TheFeralEngineer the connections are ok, when I turn on the machine I try to push the limit switch manually and the red light doesn't come on while in the y axis it does, maybe it needs to be changed?
@@matteomuggiano8635 it could be faulty
@@TheFeralEngineer OK what do you recommend? try to change limit switches ?thank you
@@matteomuggiano8635 if the machine is new, try contacting support
You printed the boat 😍
I only did it to see if the time listed was accurate. Never again.
As someone looking to get into 3D printing is there a model you'd recommend? I'm considering the Elegoo Neptune 3, The Artillery Sidewinder X3 and the Sovol SV06. But would gladly take suggestions. Thanks!
The Neptune 3 might be hard to find because they discontinue preceding models every time they introduce a new one. Each have their pros and cons. From a customer service standpoint, elegoo is the best, but every model you've mentioned all run a similar Marlin system with a different control interface, they all use a similar leveling system and sovol uses a lot of Creality parts. It's really a hard decision as to if any are better than the other in this price range because they all make little concessions in different places.
@@TheFeralEngineer Thanks for the input! Oh and subscribed!
