  • Another video just showing you how to check for your turbo or actuator being bad. Very common for both of them to be stuck, but sometimes its just one thing stuck but I always recommend still replacing both at same time. Stay tuned for how to install turbo and calibrate actuator to it video.

  • @bwinford1561

Pretty smart. If actuator gets stuck in stage three jake position the truck will choke itself. You are correct. The actuator has to be calibrated when replaced also or failure wil result.

    I have a 86 pete with a 99 n14 Cummins in it.
It runs but on acceleration especially when loaded it makes a sound like my Jake's are running and is really sluggish then after a few minutes or in certain gears it powers back up and sounds normal until I change gears then it starts the loud poping sound and gets sluggish again.
I've asked two mechanics and they said its either something wrong with my injectors or my Jake's but I'm beginning to think it's my turbo.
    Any ideas?

    • @BulletMcNugget

If turbo is seized, i always say to to replace actuator to not have an old actuator take out a new turbo.

Are you sure that VGT motor should move freely? most electric actuators won't move freely. Maybe it was just the turbo stuck ?? Can you do any repairs on those turbos? I know on the Ford 6.0 you can replace or clean the center section. Just curious because we just had a 2014 6.7 Cummins School Bus fixed and they replaced the Turbo & Actuator, costs about $6000, seemed a little high to me.

Was loosen power check engine light came back the code is reading 641 fmi 9 for the. For the actuator took it back to cummins for them to replace the actuator they said they replace it. And the one I just bought the part was bad and ran a regeneration pick it up out the shop yesterday on my way home check engine light came back on saying the same code

    • @BulletMcNugget

rashondra bowen whos installing it? You or cummins? Cause it has to be calibrated. And could be wiring going to it. When I was just starting off at dealer, i diagnosed an actuator too and replaced it and problem stayed and ended up being a wiring problem... but if it says mechanical not responding or out of adjustment then ye, thats just turbo or actuator.
