I'm seriously considering buying a Byrna right now but I have a few questions that wee not answered on the Bryna website. Who actually makes this "gun"? Where is it made? China? I hope not. Can it be taken apart for maintenance? What are the internal parts made from? Real world velocity? I'm not thrilled about the need for 8gram CO2 cartridges. Sometimes hard to get and costly. 12 gram would have been much better. Durability? Is this device fragile? I think I will hold off until these questions are answered.
Smash Revino my only complaint with the t4e is the co2 is punctured and will lose pressure over time and the blow back action also kills the co2.. besides those gripes I do agree that the Umarex is a superior product as it’s fully licensed by their respective companies

There's a bit of Truth in what he is saying BUT you do not need to use their ammo UNLESS you are using a powder based projectile. To clear the muddy waters a little. .68 cal dose not mean .68 cal anyone who plays paintball knows that every manufacturer has different size of 68 Cal and what I mean by that is slight variations whether it's .68 or .67 so on so forth which means when you try to buy paintball practice ammo or 68 Cal practice ammo or even cheap self-defense kinetic rounds they're not held to the same standard because of slate variations and defects in the manufacturing process with that out of the way here's some hard numbers for you my byrna barrel is exactly 0.690 and as of right now from the thickest area of a byrna max round that I can find is .685 and that's between 5 rounds. So we see that the barrel is slightly oversized to allow for proper function which at the end of the day means you can use any hard projectile that is absolutely no greater than.685. BUT the only way you can be absolutely sure of that is by buying from a reputable place, and checking your ammo with calipers. Which is why I use the kinetic rounds from Grimburg who have great quality control. But even with that said I still check my rounds from them and on average they are .673 well under anything that will get stuck in a barrel. Now last but not least DO NOT use any liquid or powder based round other than the ones from byrna as the one manufactured by them have a much thicker wall thickness to prevent exploded rounds in the barrel. With all that being said be safe, be smart, and don't forget your trusting this to save your life don't cheap out finally ask yourself this everyday. What did I do to save the world today
I learned not to keep powdered rounds in the marker for long period of time. I have a loaded TCP with LIVE rounds. I checked and unloaded the magazine about 3 or 4 times over a month to just to check everything is OK. At the end of the month, I decided to fire the TCP with the LIVE rounds. Powder went flying everywhere. After I was able to breath, I checked the TCP and it was coated in powder. The remaining rounds were cracked. Figured the storage and unloading/loading magazine stressed the rounds enough. So, for long term storage, I'm using impact rounds just to make sure I don't have that happen again.
Sorry but it looks like you intentionally selected the worst projectiles (ebay is not a brand or manufacturer) to try and make this point. There are some very high quality .68 projectiles that are available (not 2-4 weeks) and less expensive, that should work. I understand that if a bad projectile damages the gun then it's on the customer but saying don't as in Byrna is the only one that will work...is going to dissuade people from buying the product. Maybe there needs to be an industry qual on .68 projectiles (roundness, hardness, smoothness, etc.).
@@exosolas9780 the reason for a Less than lethal setup is that the FPS is turned up for power. For Paintball games they make you turn it down to "safer" levels. So go buy a paintball gun and mod yourself
Byrna should have paintball ammo that has red paint. That way in self-defense when you shoot someone and they feel the sting and look down and see red they will think they are shot, and run.
@@LocoMiguel Yes, but neither the inert rounds nor the chemical agent rounds can "mark" a suspect for identification, as my understanding is that the chemical agent rounds don't have a UV marker dye, unlike pepper spray.

@Maskie Man $15 if you get the M series model and you know how to reload the darts. Not exactly legal of course, but departments have been caught running the autoclaves.
Just need to do a few measurements with a caliper gauge to be sure. There are plenty of videos online of people shooting non-Byrna rounds with no issue. Just need to make sure they are within acceptable thresholds first without simply trusting the stated caliber.
Our Agency has Every less lethal Pistol made and YES we can 100% use ANY AMMO Infact we prefer to only use HP68 Rounds 8gram from grimburg rubber bullet
I am sure the gas pressure will send it out flying. I am sure any paintball or Life Lite pepper balls would fine. You just want people to buy your pepper balls.🔫
The problem is that the flashing on cheap rounds can snag. This happens with paintballs regularly, which is why paintballers typically carry a wipe for cleaning out burst balls.
Absolutely. In fact you do not want the top round to be a pepper ball because the chamber indicator on the marker can crack the round over time. It's a lot smarter to load 3 or 4 pepper balls then fill the remaining space with solid rounds so that this doesn't happen. Plus for self defense you can fire one or 2 solid rounds then if they don't back off you hit them with the pepper or MAX rounds. But you can totally use alternate CO2 cartridges and kinetic rounds from other suppliers.
What about the Grimburg Hp68 rounds? Has anyone tested to see if they would cycle normally? Just because someone breaks into my house, doesn’t mean I want to saturate my carpet and furniture with OC spray. Not to mention get a face full of it myself. BTDT.
MrRolyat98 rubber, nylon, steel core rubber... there are other options for home defense. youre right. i dont want fine pepper powder in the enclosed space of my bedroom or hallway.
The "Grimburg 8-Gram Juule" Rounds (The ROUND .68'S) TURN THE BYRNA INTO A FREAKING "Most Likely LETHAL!☠☠☠!" If You Hit A Human In Critical Areas!!....ie. Head, Throat, Eye!... etc. As They ARE NOTHING LIKE THE BYRNA 1.8 GRAM KINETIC ROUNDS PEOPLE!😉...REMEMBER!!! V X M = POWER! (Velocity X Weight = MUCH BIGGER CRACKED SCULL!🤣
Although I have the Byrna rounds and continue to purchase them, just FYI, I purchased some generic black plastic " 0.68 "caliber rounds. I compared the shape and diameter of both types. The generic rounds appeared to be spherical but, interestingly enough, my micrometer measured their diameter pretty consistently at 0.65-0.66" so they are unlikely to jam in the barrel. Big question: "What' is your life worth"? Probably worth spending extra on the high quality Byrna rounds.
That is another reason NOT to buy a Byrna. I have a TRP, S2, and a HDR68. I have only had one lockup, most likely caused because I reuse my ammo. The TRP and HRD have a huge aftermarket, so modifications, upgrades, and mods are easy. This is just another disadvantage for Byrna and its proprietary ammo-based guns. Lots of terrible reviews online about Byrna. Do your homework before burning your money!
Ordered mine June 13th. A week before you. I got mine last weeks exactly 19 weeks after ordering it. I hope the launcher is better than the customer service.
Byrna is a great design but with all the malfunction and poor customer service I can’t recommend it. Maybe try Mission TPR LESS LETHAL or I recommend MCS-Modern Combat Sports AR15 style pepper-ball launchers instead. With a 20 round projectile capacity magazine or a 190 capacity projectile box magazine...
Buy a used TiPX. Slap on the MCS body kit with buttstock. You got rails to put goodies on. Get a MCS box mag and Grimburg barrel with JUL rounds. I can vouch for Tippmann's excellent customer service as they repaired marker and returned it to me quickly and no charge. KT from MCS recently said a customer brought him a Byrna to inspect. He wasn't impressed.

It’s easy to see that the non-Byrna rounds aren’t as well made. However, using the same test, one can easily shave of the imperfections on a second rate paintball round and use them for practice. As for real world situations, only Byrna OC powder rounds will do. Thems badass!
@@beaubell5638 The big problem is that the Byrna HD Max Rounds are quite easy to seperate- you can easily pull them apart but TRUST me you really DON'T Want to do it. Even with a KN-95 and gloves- it fogged out the bathroom. Pepperball HD rounds don't have that problem- The down side is that they are a bit thicker grade plastic and a little harder to break.
A 68 is not a 68. Rounds all have tolerences. But to make your makers barrel tolerance so ridiculously tight as not to be compatible with most common ammo is a horrible marketing mistake. I will never buy a Byrna, this is just one of many design flaws Byrna has.😅
The slightly better seal of the " non precision molded" balls are gonna promote better accuracy and higher velocity. If they are anything close to 68 caliber, they ain't getting stuck. You guys don't recommend the others because they don't bring you revenue.. and while I respect that, you can save it about the rounds getting stuck
$300 is too much for 95 when I can get 100 pepper rounds for $35. The price is why we look for other options. Who has $300 to just piss in the wind on practice?
I look at it like this. 9mm FMJ is a LOT cheaper to shoot in my pistol than is the Speer Gold Dot that I carry for my self defense ammo, but I’m not going to go cheap on the rounds that I’m counting on to save my life, if necessary. I think we can agree on that. However, I’m also not going to buy the cheapest FMJ rounds I can find for training. I have some definite brand choices, and I’m going to stay away from crappy brands. I look at the Bryna that way. You’re not going to have to shoot 50-100 rounds a week to train with it. If you already know how to shoot, you should be able to shoot a Byrna, just fine. You might want to get a container of the kinetic rounds to see the comparison between POA and POI, so why cheap out on non-Byrna rounds that may deviate from that? For me, anyway, I wouldn’t be getting a Byrna just so I could have a cheap, fun day at the range (if I want that, I’ll take one of my .22s). Instead, the Byrna is a serious tool that may keep me from having to mount a legal defense against a murder charge, when I could use IT to solve my problem instead of deadly force. When you think of it in those terms, I don’t care about not using ammo other than what the manufacturer recommends, in order to save a few bucks. Put it this way, in Glocks where they warn against shooting cast lead bullets through their barrels, are you going to ignore their warning to save a few bucks, even if it won’t do any harm, but may void your warranty?
Are your rounds made by Mission, who also makes Pepperball and other brands ammo, too? I expect that any very good quality round from Byrna, Mission, Pepperball, or other high quality precision rounds would equally work, while the black rubber round in this video is clearly poor quality and has visible seams showing.
In reality, he's talking about poorly made ammo that can be removed from most paintball guns, but not the byrna because the byrna doesn't have a removable barrel. any brand of round marketed to law enforcement will work. Personally I use pepperball and they work well in the byrna.
Even the BYRNA Kinetic Rounds have a seam on them. The aftermarket “Riot Balls” do not have seams and I choose to launch those instead of the BYRNA Projectiles any day of the week.
These practice rounds are fine folks. Getting stuck is no issue. You only need to pop it out. This guys probably having his videos paid for by the Byrna company. If the barrel breaks then it’s because it’s crappy plastic. Sponsored endorsements will lie to you and try to get you to spend more money with them
Maybe a colab with a paintball company would be a good way to avoid this. Empire Marballizers can be customized and they would be proved for practice at fields that wouldn't allow non paint-ball amo if they had an open slot for practice... but most fields have their own protocols- and the current line up is not going to fly. I am not suggesting this as a way to use the launcher for a game of paintball- but a way people can train on it if off hours they have no where else to go.
Seeing as Byrna's rounds are manufactured by Mission Less Lethal ( ir.byrna.com/news-events/press-releases/detail/55/security-devices-international-inc-enters-into-oem ), is the Byrna HD compatible with other (non-Byrna-branded) .68 rounds manufactured by Mission Less Lethal, such as their Salt-branded rounds or their Mission Less Lethal-branded rounds?
I think the Byrna balls are closer to 67 cal. than 68 and that's why they say, don't use paint balls in the gun, use the stuff made by Byrna. It works every time.
I think you need to take a closer look at the economy balls in the video. They aren't precision molded and therefore not exactly round. If the mold isn't perfect then the diameter of the ball will be larger than the intended caliber across a certain direction. This is why they get stuck. They probably won't fly straight either.
No, Byrna is just overpriced ammo lol, just like how they sell the crimson pistol light on their website for $90 and it’s $30 brand new on eBay 😂😂🤣. PLENTY of people use Riot Ball’s Nylon jawbreaker rounds and nylon practice paintball rounds in their Byrna and it’s just fine. This guy is just trying to sell you, stop being ignorant 😂🤣

Figured the storage and unloading/loading magazine stressed the rounds enough. So, for long term storage, I'm using impact rounds just to make sure I don't have that happen again.
Thanks for the info ... Do you know if the barrel on the byrna SD measures the same as the Byrna HD?
@@hotrodprepper656 they are the same,
Sorry but it looks like you intentionally selected the worst projectiles (ebay is not a brand or manufacturer) to try and make this point.
I like that Blue camo, do you offer that color to the everyday consumer?
Yes last year it was available.... I should of purchased it...
Blue camo I belive are the max rounds and have pepper and tear gas..
@@Stormmaniac I Think That He Is Referring To The "Launcher" As Far As The "Camouflage" Paintjob!....😉
Well they should make a paint ball rd for the Byrna. It would be great for real simulation training.
they have inert powder rounds available
I'd be great if they have actual painball rounds specifically for the gun so we could still use it for games
Do you know where I could find that gun skin?
Wish Byrna would make a better pepperballs, their's snapped together and brake easily sometimes in the magazine .
I wish that we could buy the Byrna Gun on Amazon.
@Jarhead Yeah, except there's a 2 month wait to ship, im sure that's what urofan is wishing for
Jarhead well, the difference is amazon takes a few days and byrna.com takes a few months. I ordered mine on eBay and is great.
I had to go through the byrna site.. taken only 5 days
@@vinscuzzy mine shipped in 6 days.
That's where I got mines it took about a week
they dont have camo color on the site?
I would like to know how did you get the ACU skin because I’m looking for the same
I was about to make the purchase but when I saw the prices for the balls I said hell no. its Just too much $3 or $5 for a ball its crazy. $1.50 a ball its good price
It's still better than the taser- which costs at least $15 a round.
Our Agency has Every less lethal Pistol made and YES we can 100% use ANY AMMO
Infact we prefer to only use HP68 Rounds 8gram from grimburg rubber bullet
How did you make the byrna on the right custom blue like that
I'm not seeing this camo pattern offered anywhere. Is this still being offered?
No, it never was- that's a custom gun wrap.

Can pepper rounds and hard rounds be both placed/mixed in the same magazine?
Well This Video Backfired! Lol.... Pissed more people off than anything else.... Someone in the marketing department just got reassigned....smh
time has changed, amazon selling kinetic ammo with the same or better quality for less
Yes, but I'd want to see the usability of precision-crafted .68 rounds.
Can this thing shoot shaped projectiles?
A bullet doesn't fall out of a barrel either they has to be propelled through with gas's or air
Guys I love the launcher but you have to fix the access and pricing for ammo and accessories. And the Shipping cost is ridiculous.
I would hope the power would still be strong enough to repel the round ball through the barrel anyway!
If anything, the tighter seal will propel the ball further and more accurately. More velocity too.
Ordered my byrna HD June 20th... still waiting for delivery!!
Ordered mine June 13th. A week before you. I got mine last weeks exactly 19 weeks after ordering it.
I hope the launcher is better than the customer service.
Did yours ever arrive, and if so, how do you like the BYRNA HD?

Why are these plastic guns so expensive?
BladeObsession they are very effective for self defense
Unlike some of you actual firearm owners, I am a Christian, and it's an unforgivable sin to kill another human being even if it is your enemy. Gods law one of the 10 commandants. What is the shell of the byrna balls made of? Does it deform over time?
It’s easy to see that the non-Byrna rounds aren’t as well made. However, using the same test, one can easily shave of the imperfections on a second rate paintball round and use them for practice.
As for real world situations, only Byrna OC powder rounds will do.
Thems badass!
=how did you get your Byrna in camouflage?
He did a custom gun wrap.
@@Harlem55 he voided his warranty yet telling us what we cant shoot out of it
@@beaubell5638 The big problem is that the Byrna HD Max Rounds are quite easy to seperate- you can easily pull them apart but TRUST me you really DON'T Want to do it. Even with a KN-95 and gloves- it fogged out the bathroom. Pepperball HD rounds don't have that problem- The down side is that they are a bit thicker grade plastic and a little harder to break.
But .68 is .68 should work
A 68 is not a 68. Rounds all have tolerences. But to make your makers barrel tolerance so ridiculously tight as not to be compatible with most common ammo is a horrible marketing mistake. I will never buy a Byrna, this is just one of many design flaws Byrna has.😅
So basically, spend all your money on OUR products. I see what you're doing, I understand. Idk who byrna nation is but get your money, my guy
I wish you guys would make a potent all pava round that ships to NY
Maybe you should move out of that joke liberal state 😆
The slightly better seal of the " non precision molded" balls are gonna promote better accuracy and higher velocity.
If they are anything close to 68 caliber, they ain't getting stuck.
You guys don't recommend the others because they don't bring you revenue.. and while I respect that, you can save it about the rounds getting stuck
many joules is this byrna capable of producing? thanks
With the standard 3g balls- up to 15.1 Joules. However, in realistic operating conditions it's going to be around the territory of 8.66 Joules.
The majority of testing is around 10 joules.
Bonjour! Peut on l'importer en France?! Si oui où le commander?! Merci d'avance

@@dnick49 salut! Où est-ce que je peux passer commande?! Ca m'intéresse 😁
$300 is too much for 95 when I can get 100 pepper rounds for $35. The price is why we look for other options. Who has $300 to just piss in the wind on practice?
You don't practice with pepper rounds. Good lord.
Can I get in quantity like 500 box
I like the wrap military where can I get one
Exactly the reason why I won't buy a bryna. There are better, more versatile choices out there for less money too. Do your homework.
It will take any .68 cal ball. No issues. Dont waste your money on the name brand stuff.
These practice rounds are fine folks. Getting stuck is no issue. You only need to pop it out. This guys probably having his videos paid for by the Byrna company. If the barrel breaks then it’s because it’s crappy plastic. Sponsored endorsements will lie to you and try to get you to spend more money with them
Lets not forget the profit.
Can you make a how to clean the gun please
Check out the Dude “alwaysbeready” on RUclips. He makes the videos that other folks don’t and he’s constantly testing out BYRNA products.
Byrna rounds are 686. First strike inert round balls are 686. Exactly the same size. You can buy 150 of first strikes for $39.00
I fire them all the time
I think you need to take a closer look at the economy balls in the video.
Something is wrong with the check out part, the order page at the end the price doubled. Could that be checked in to that please.
Your gonna use chop sticks to push it down? Lol 😂
Can you do the opposite ?
Yeah.... Well.... Price your ammo fairly.
Basically just find a good .68 caliber with no seams, riot balls is a very good choice.
The only issue is that you bought some sorry a** rounds!! I've shot plenty of non-bryna rds thru my LE and TCR, never an issue. 👎👎 for you
A measurement is a measurement
Stop SCAMMING!
Simple solution. Sand down non Byrna rounds with fine grid sandpaper.
That’s a waste of time. Instead order the “Riot Balls” and your problem is solved.
How about making them less expensive maybe every one would buy bryna rounds n Co2 8 gram canisters less expensive people will but your prices are ridiculous
Should have mentioned the Pepper Balls are illegal in California. I would have never have purchased this firearm.

Cheaper becomes more expensive.
Not really- you have problems if you're firing several tubes of pepper balls out of this thing in a few months.

Where can I get that blue camo skin?
The reason they made this video is so you don't buy cheaper balls some where else. Byrna sells there balls for to much
Just don’t buy a Byrna . It misfires .
There are no flawless pepper ball markers. Byrna has made adjustments to the original design and the unit is a lot better now. I've seen tons of videos of the newer design firing without a single hiccup.
It helps when the person reviewing it actually knows how to use a Byrna. Plenty of examples where the reviewer is clueless...
