I hope we are all well!
I borrowed a couple of 'Sinnis Terrain 125s' for a couple of weeks from the lovely people at Sinnis and figured it would only be right to document my thoughts on the small but mighty 125s!
This is a first impressions review. Honestly, I tried to have an open mind since it is a 125 but you know what... if I was in the market for a 125, I'd absolutely own one!

I bought one of these for my wife as her first bike to learn on and pass her test. What a super thing it was. She racked up over 2000 miles on it, passed her mod 1 and 2 before we sold it on for almost what we paid for it. Now she's on a Tiger 800. Girl power all the way!!
I bought one of these second hand when I had my CBT. Got it for about £1000 off list price with 230 miles on the odometer. Did all sorts on it for six months and put over 2000 miles extra on it. I upgraded the tyres to Metzeler Roadtecs, rode it in horrific conditions and toured with it including all the steep passes in the Lakes. Last day was a 360 mile dash spent at max RPM the whole way. GS riders often pulled alongside to wonder what it was.
Sinnis dealerships I found to be not particularly good, quite open with not servicing the bike as per the spec but did change a part under warranty. Everyone said a cheap Chinese bike will be useless and won’t last but I enjoyed it. Not sure all the people I held up on my tours appreciated how little power it had but I still,had a smile on my face. Did my big bike test and bought a Ducati 748 for double what I sold the Sinnis for! Can’t imagine anyone putting a Sinnis in their lounge!
I'm not gonna lie but I spent the entire video hoping I'd catch a glimpse of myself out and about on my bike 🤣🤣 great vid 👍
I had the 2020 model for some time, absolutely loved it, got me through many a journey, wholeheartedly recommend.

Not bad, Kate. Part of the realistic fun of a 125 is that you have to work at it and when you get tailgaited by an Audi, you can lean out of the way and let the beggar past! All you have to do at petrol stations is put a few quids worth in. Winner.

I bought one in December, last time I rode was a 50cc in the 80s. Absolutely loving it to the point I have started vlogging myself! Feels bigger than a 125cc and has some road presence! The new MGB ATX will be a competitor but yet to see a review of one yet!

I very nearly bought one as a second bike, but then I came across a sweet baby Varadero which has been my first bike over the last month or so since I grabbed it.

I have a Honda Blackbird and that has linked brakes. The rear is a 2 pot, the front a 3 pot (well, 3 each disc, that is). Apply the front and only 2 of the pots on each caliper come on on the front and one of the pots on the rear come on. Apply the rear, and one pot on the rear come on and the middle pots on the front caliper come on! To de-link them, it's over £100 just for the lines. Honda have a reason for it, but it just makes no sense practically, the idea was applying the front helped to settle the bike with the rear coming on, and vice versa. However, I rear braked on grass once when I had to ride over the grass and it was wet and slippery. Touched the back brake, the front came on and BAM, I was down with a locked front. My mates are always on about trail braking and applying the rear in corners to settle the bike and I constantly have to remind them that I can't do that coz otherwise I'd just be braking and loading the front. It's something you learn to live with and work around but it's not the best system and one day I'll get around to de-linking them and have the full 3 pots (well, 6 overall) stopping me and a usable rear brake. It was an experiment that didn't really work before ABS was perfected, but it can have you off if you aren't careful and aware of the bike dynamics if you try and use the rear for control.
Since then all Hondas including their 125's have independent brakes which is great but cheaper 125s have this dual linked system which I've had and you literally couldnt brake at times if you were heavily leaned or your front wheel was losing grip. Where on a independent braking system you can hard brake the back and leave the front without lowsiding.. there is whole generation of bikers now who dont know about when and how to use a back brake only or a front brake or both and all the other nuances like one then the other quickly etc. that skilled riders have got. I think linked should be stopped!
@@PwnstarUK "linked should be stopped." Nice! I never understood the linked brake thing. Gravel or sand or rain or something and you can't use the back brake to settle the bike. I was taught to use the rear brake on tight slow speed manoeuvres but with linked brakes you can't. Just a stupid idea all around which is a blight on the otherwise perfect blackbird.

Honestly, I really enjoyed the Sinnis. If I was a learner, I'd not turn my nose up at it!

Top tip, shipmate:
Try not to park anything too close to that flue outlet. The products they chuck out are slightly acidic. Not great for paintwork.

My Partners Yamaha YS125 has linked Brakes and it applies the Front Brake when you apply the Rear, however applying the Front Brake does not operate the Rear.
I guess it’s in case Learners apply too much Rear Brake.

Would love to see more videos on 125s and 50cc bikes. I know 50cc is not thought of much, but watched a video on the Aprillia RS 50, and seems as good as a 125.
They are in fact the rs50 I’ve got was kitted out when I got it but still had a 50 head but it’s topped out at 75 and cruises at 70 so it’s faster then a lot of 125s and it accelerates a fair bit faster too as it’s bands hit in at 7.5k rpm then it just takes off hoping to get a rs125 next year tho
But yes they are great bikes and even tho they aren’t very big their a ton of fun to ride and you can throw them about easily enough because there really lite

I am upgrading this spring from a 125, I didn't have a full permit in France, I have a Honda cb125f, it's fun, really fun actually, it's just not easy to use it in the mountains not enough horses to pull my butt around at normal speeds, thinking about a Yamaha tenera 700, seems to get good reviews and I don't feel like going into debt for 5 years for BMW.

Varadero the best touring 125 out there I got mine remapped and put a 180 bore kit on it I get 100 mph out of it love it

Sitting on the bike - you look 6 feet tall. Funny my wife just got a MT 03 as a small bike for the mountains- Her Hiway bike is a BMW 1200c. And we were joking how small the Yamaha 321 engine looks. I can’t imagine what a 125 would be like. But I guess things are different in the USA. Enjoying your content- and accent. .

So tempted by this after having a 2017 sinnis apache but now I’m torn between this or the mgb 125 adventure which also looks the nuts for a 125
your doing a great job keep up the good work ...now your doing this full time maybe you should work on getting more ladie's into biking as your a great ambassadour for this subject and it would make good viewing just a thought either way ...have a great weekend

I’m due to do my cbt in March and really like the look of this bike but seat height is crucial factor as I’m 5’2 .
Reminds me of the CSC RX3 sold in the states.
I own both, a BMW R1200R and a Royal Enfield Himalayan.
The Himalayan has similar performance as the 125!!
And you're right, you do need to ride completely differently.
It's a completely different mind set riding the Himalayan compared to the BMW, but even though its got way less power, its great fun to ride.
I'm guessing, riding the 125 is the same for you?

I have this bike, but here in Mexico it is 200cc , it is called "Adventure V200". Shamefully here it is not Inverted fork. My bike has more than 50,000 kms and it's top speed is 125kms/hour

Looks similar to the ZongShen RX-1 but in a 125 engine. I owned the RX-3 and I was "warned" not to buy it because breaks down easily, maybe I was lucky but I rode it hard and never had a problem with it.
Would love you to do a review on the Cineco RX-1 (Cineco is Zongshen's Electric Division) and see what you think when is available in the UK.

Honda do that combined brake thing on the rear brake. My daughter's cb125f has it. Its not good. Its worse than abs and abs isn't the way forward as it takes the feeling of your own control away. My thoughts only as I raced Motocross bikes in the past is let us decide what is best...

When we talk about 125cc's we dont mention power or speed, we ALL know they are slow, i picked mine up a few days ago having sold my DL650, and i have to say im have a blast on it, even riding carefully due to running in period i feel this has more than enough power for the market its aimed at, and im getting over 100mpg and with the current fuel prices id say that was a massive winwin,
So far the ONLY down side is how often the servicing is on these, the gen 5 is every 1800miles which is better than 1200miles with the gen 4, but still, thats alot of servicing for such a small engine,
BTW ive being riding since '87 and owned alot of bike bikes, this little bike is alot of fun.

For experience riders a 300 cc engine would be really great. No strange on the engine on the road. I ride a Honda X 500 Adventure. 3.5 liter's every 60 miles.

You'd be fine on this 😊 you'd be fine on a Triumph Tiger 900 GT Low or a chassis lowered 1200/1250 GS too! There is more available for us shorties than people realise 😊

I’m debating at the moment whether to do some time on a 125 or just go straight for my DAS. Got no previous on bikes (except a push bike!) and feel like eating myself in would be the way to go, but a few seasoned bikers have said just go all in. Would love to hear your opinion.
its really all personal choice , you could always do the cbt then decide if you need a bigger bike

Get the hours and experience/confidence it's cheaper, invest in good quality gear first 😊
You’ll probably have to do a cbt anyway depending on your age, so do that and get some experience on a 125 before your DAS course, which you’ll probably have to wait a good while for anyway atm. Waited six months for mine in January but found it pretty easy as a result.

My 1974 Yamaha 125 Enduro wouldn’t get out of its own way, I still have it and one of theses days I’ll get it out and refresh it a bit and put around on it I don’t think we’re allowed to have the Chinese bikes in California due to the environmentalist.
I remember long long time ago when dinosaurs wandered the earth, there was lots of 125 trails bikes DT etc where have they all gone?

I ride to work on mine every day. I have the 2017 model 12,300 miles in, no problem at all,.100 mpg. Ideal commuter bike at 30-40-50 mph,. All I have done is taken the boxes and metalwork off it weighs a tonne, changed the tyres (crap) and chain (crap). Nobody has attempted to steal it, previously I have had 2 bikes nicked. Big bike comes out at the weekend.

I’m thinking of getting one of these because I’m 6,1-6,2 and I’m a pretty big lad I’m just not sure if they are worth it. I’ve saw good things and bad things such as the metal getting rusty in a couple months to a year. If anyone can let me know if it’s true or not that would be amazing

its probably geared really low that's why have to rev its nuts off .. id go up a couple of teeth at front then it should be far less and slightly increase top speed as a bonus .... as for linked brakes ...don't sound good on a off road bike ..who needs front brake lol ..helpfully a way of un-joining them
Haha yep! I think you're probably right! And yes, I think it's defo more adventure than offroad but we like to keep it interesting 😅

Very comparable with the MGB-ATX-T 125 through the range of specs.
