Absolutely one of the reasons that I've been such a huge fan over the years. There are lots of objective musical reasons to respect her (musicality, sense of time, unique vibrato, etcetera), but for sure she has a unique presence about her, a certain "je ne sais quoi" that nobody else has, at least these days. I think the major reason AJ is able to channel emotion in this song is that she was "still a child" when she had to deal with all the aspects of fame, like Adele was very young when she had to deal with a husband and a baby and fame all at once. AJ can relate to the lyrics.

That was a great reaction, but this is nothing to the experience you get watching her live. Last July in Norway she sang 18 songs, all amazing. But, her interaction with the crowd and her stage presence was off the scale. At the end of the concert people were in shock, didn't want to leave, then she came back on stage to thank everyone.
I think you are spot on with this song being very personal to Angelina. She WAS too young to choose what she chose to do, even if she still believes it was the right choice. I think when AJ sang this she was asking all of us to go easy on her. So much pressure to live up to “the best vocalist” of the century. MHO

At age 6, while traveling in the Middle East with her mother and grandmother, Angelina noticed a girl around her age standing on the side of the road, asking people to step on her bathroom scale to be weighed in hopes of getting some money. Angelina took off her shoes so as to not get the scale dirty and stepped on the scale many times to make the girl feel better. Angelina befriends the girl who was not wearing shoes and has scars on her feet, and learns she is an orphan. The orphan girl tells Angelina how beautiful she thinks her shoes are. Angelina says her shoes don’t fit her well and she wants to give her shoes to the orphan girl who thanks Angelina for giving her the shoes.
Angelina asked the girl what she wanted to be when she grew up and the girl replied, “I want to become a doctor, but that will never happen since I have no parents and I have siblings so I have to do whatever is necessary for us to survive.” Angelina told the girl to never give up on her dreams. The poor girl asked Angelina what she wanted to be when she grew up and Angelina replied that she wanted to sing for the whole world. The poor girl said she would pray every day so Angelina’s dream would come true.
Angelina still says she thinks of that homeless girl every day and has always performed barefoot to remind her of all the children who are less fortunate. At age 9, she became the youngest published author in Norway’s history by writing a book about this encounter in the Middle East. Angelina Jordan is the ULTIMATE PERFORMER, it’s like she is singing for you, and you alone. She knows where that soft spot is within you, and she goes there on the very first note of each performance. She leaves you begging for more like no one else can.
Adele deserves enormous credit for her songwriting and her performances, but she does not have the vocal tools Angelina does. Actually, I’ve never heard anyone who can match Angelina’s stunning performances across so many different genres. There is a perfect example of what you wished for. It’s a mash-up video of Adele and Angelina (at 12) singing alternate verses of Adele’s beautiful, melancholy song, “A Million Years Ago”.

@@keithserafy, I think it was 6 hours, but either way, it was amazing that she could sing this on TikTok so well after just that short amount of time. I've heard that Angelina said she felt a connection to the song as soon as she heard it. Many feel that Angelina was singing about her own childhood while Adele was singing about her marriage at a young age.

My opinion, better than Adel… there’s another song that’s an original. She wrote to her parents. Called Shield, you have to listen to the lyrics in that one. One of the lines is, I’m sorry for all that I am. She sang it when she was 12 years old dedicated to her parents. The barefoot princess is absolutely an angel sent from Heaven.
I've been a fan of this young superstar for over 3 years now. I think every song she covers is better than the original but her Adele covers are by far the most beautiful and unbelievable things I have ever heard. Adele is a talent that doesn't need anyone to brag her up, her song writing skills do that. That said Angelina just makes those songs so much different with totally new nuances so they actually feel like new songs. Not just Adele but all of her covers.
Somehow she brings out the emotions that are meant to be felt that the original artists attempt but are not able to swing.
I also wonder if Adele is aware of Angelina's revamping of her songs. I don't know how she couldn't but I have never heard of anyone bringing this question to her. Maybe in a few months time after Angelina demolishes her first Grammys the powers that be make a deal for a televised special where these 2 powerhouses are brought together. It would be awesome to watch.

Yeah it's an onslaught really. I don't know about 2.0. They mean different things to both of them. For Adele it's to her son, about her divorce. But sure I mean difficulty and beauty edge to the one and only Angelina Jordan here, yeah. Both perfect. But Angelina's vocal beauty and impossible perfection through the vocal arrangement is a bit unfair. Who does all that breathiness, soul, and impossible transitions between techniques and registers so flawlessly. It's gotten worse actually, now her control is so OP and her transitions often don't even exist now.

She was 15 here and recorded this just a day or Two after Adele released it. Find her video of her original song called “Million Miles “ live in studio . She wrote it about the death of her grandfather, talk about powerful, the song and her voice. Get the hanky ready it’s a tear jerker !!! At 14 years old. There are 3 videos of the same song. One is animated by Angelina and her grandmother Mery, the second one is just a video and the third one is a live in studio in black and white. The music for the third video is bared down to just a piano and cello. The original music is more plinky plunky. She first went into a recording studio at age 6 years old. So much more to learn about her. She has been referred to as the girl with a thousand voices !!!
