Why does Angelina sing barefooted? Angelina Jordan is known as "The Barefoot Princess" or "The Barefoot Princess of Jazz," amongst many other names. She always performs barefooted, whether in front of a live audience or during a studio performance. The story is that while living in the Middle East, at 6 years old, Angelina came across an orphaned girl, of her own age, sitting in the street, weighing people on a bathroom scale to earn money. Angelina said to herself, "I would like to share her life for one second to know what it is like to sit alone, wet, and damp, and barefoot in a corner of the street." Angelina could see the girl's bare feet were scarred and that it was cold outside, so she offered her own shoes to the girl. Little Angelina says that she really loved her shoes, as they were very nice and she knew she would miss them. But she saw the other little girl’s need for them, which outweighed her own desire to keep them. So she insisted the little girl take them.
Angelina called her Princess, even though the girl said she didn't live in a castle, but the ruins of a building next to where she sat. After sharing their hopes and dreams, the little girl said of Angelina's wish to sing for the world, "You will become the one you dream of and when your dreams come true, you have to remember the poor children without shoes; and I will pray for you Angelina.” Later that day, 6 y/o Angelina wrote in her diary, "The world is very strange. Right then and there, I felt as if a door in my heart opened up, and it was filled with lots of lights. It was as if there was, from Earth to Heaven, a staircase. I climbed the stairs. To be able to do something for another human - it was such a big thing…hard to describe really.”
From that point on, Angelina takes off her shoes, in honor of ‘Princess’ and all the other less fortunate children of the world, who are orphaned, hungry, or in want of even basic clothing. In 2015, at the age of 9, Angelina wrote a book about the encounter, as everyone continued to ask why she sang barefoot. Her grandmother, Mery Zamani, created the artwork for the book. So at 9, Angelina Jordan became the youngest published author in Norway. Angelina has performed alongside many other artists, raising attention and helping to raise over 21 million euros and millions of dollars for children in need.

You hit it. She has the ability to make changes on the fly. She is an Ancient Soul. Singing since she was 1.5 years old. She can also read music and make changes while singing. Plays multiple instruments and is a recognized author. She does all her own arranging. You must review Love Don't Let Me Go which is her first release on her debut album coming out very soon. She had to finish high school first. She has this ability to reach into your soul and grab your emotions. Most people get goose bumps when she sings. I know I will tear up listening to her with tears of joy.

Angelina is a Norwegian born child prodigy in music. She's a singer/ songwriter who's arranged over 180 covers and 5 originals, all since the age of 7. Angelina began singing at 18 months old. At 2, she began teaching herself how to sing, focusing primarily on the jazz masters of decades gone by. These are artists such as Billie Holiday, Louis Armstrong, Ella Fitzgerald, and Etta James. She's also influenced by Amy Winehouse, Frank Sinatra, Whitney Houston, and Adele, to name a few. She's also been said to be the girl of 1,000 voices. Yet even though we can hear the phrasing and style she puts in the songs, it's always Angelina that we hear.
At 7 years old, she auditioned for Norway's Got Talent. She was the last to audition. The judges had no idea who she was or what she could do. They saw a diminutive mussy haired, barefooted girl with her teeth still growing in. For her audition, she performed "Gloomy Sunday" from Billie Holiday. On TV-2, they've reported over 14 million views of this performance. This does not take into account the many hundreds of reactors showing this audition to millions more.
Needless to say, Angelina went on to win the 2014 season of NGT shortly after her 8th birthday. The family was bombarded with requests for performances, interviews, and record label offers. They turned down 90% of the requests, as they insisted that Angelina should enjoy a normal childhood.
That didn't stop Angelina from performing at select engagements around the world, singing for Heads of State, and even Barack Obama. She's spent time and worked with musicians such as Quincy Jones and Alan Walker. She first appeared on American television, The View, at 8 years old.
Angelina auditioned for America's Got Talent The Champions at 13 years old. She made it just up to the final selection of the final 5 when she dropped from the competition. It wasn't that she wasn't good enough to be in the final 5, but it was because she refused to sign with an AGT affiliated label, should she win. She knew very well what production hungry labels could do to her music. She even turned down Disney.
At 14, Angelina signed with Republic Records. Republic gave her complete artistic control as well as control over the performances she would make. She turned 17 on January 10, 2023, and will graduate from high school after the spring semester. From then on, she will embark on her full-time professional career. She's been working closely with Republic on her first album under their label. It's likely that it will drop shortly after her graduation.

I think you'll find the more you experience her performances, you'll see she doesn't do anything on accident. Quincy Jones said she is the best vocalist since Michael Jackson. David Foster couldn't praise her enough, and Sugar Foot, Michael Jackson's drummer, said she "is the best to come to us in our time." Nora Jones had her open her Concert in Korea with 40,000 people. She was asked to do an encore. She was 10 years old. Every major label on the planet tried signing her, including Disney and Simon Cowell from AGT. she turned them all down. It's why she was "voted off" AGT the Champions. She wouldn't sign. She won Norways got talent when she was 8. The president of Republic Records met with her personally and agreed to Angelina's terms, and at 14, she signed with them. Angelina was declared a national treasure by the King of Norway. She is also the youngest published author in Norway. Her story is incredible, and her talent is unmatched.
She's been singing her face off since 1.5 years old.. (Literally there is a video of her singing Whitney's I will always love you at 18 months)... Most kids start talking at that age. In the words of Quincy Jones she is the most Talented Vocalist he's seen since Michael Jackson. She's played for Presidents, Prime Ministers, and Royalty. Opened for Quincy Jones 85th Birthday. She had to wait two years because you had to be 7 yrs old to enter. She started with a rendition of Billie Holiday's 'Gloomy Sunday' which she just infused with Billie's soul. She followed this by another Billie classic with a pitch perfect rendition of 'I'm a Fool to Want You' acapella. She started studying all the greats of Jazz soon after under the guidance of her Iranian Grandmother Mery Zamani a child prodigy in her own right as an artist and poet. English is Angelina's 3rd language behind Norwegian and Farsi along with Japanese and some German and perhaps more. Remember she just turned 17 January 10th. They finally signed with Republic Records about three years ago after getting a deal that gave her control of her artistic vision and has since released 2 originals, 'Million Miles' & '7th Heaven' plus a soundtrack for the New Movie "The Hating Game" which opens with her song 'Mercy' performed most notably by Duffy. Republic has labeled her their Highest Priority and assigned a team to her including Rob Christy a multiple Grammy Winner, often on the piano in many of her performances and a whole team of equally qualified professionals. She has worked with some of the best musicians in the industry and always get exactly what she wants. They call her the Boss and have immense respect for her. She is due to release her 1st album promised by Angelin to be soon.

There is a lot to say about this song, which she wrote in honor of her grandfather who died short before, but also addressed it to everybody who lost a dear one! The sweet lesson that those lost ones always will be in you somehow and you're never really alone! The song came out in heavy Covid times and it was a comfort to many people. Brought them to tears (in a good way) as we've seen and read many times!

Why does Angelina sing barefoot? The answer may bring a tear to your eye. It is related to a promise she made to herself and to the world when she was only 6 years old. She was traveling in the Middle East with her mom and grandmother and they came across a young orphan girl with no shoes and scarred feet. Angelina gave the girl her own favorite shoes. Angelina ask the girl what she wanted to be when she grew up and she said a doctor, but she could not because she had to take care of her siblings. She asked Angelina the same question and Angelina said I want to sing for the world. The young girl said she would pray for Angelina. Since then, Angelia has forever performed barefoot as a reminder of all those less fortunate. At age 9 she wrote a book about this experience, Between two Hearts, becoming the youngest ever published author in Norway. She also has helped raise millions for children's charities. Based on your reaction/comments, here’s my info for you. Yes she should send sings with a lot of emotion, it’s one of the most bings, love about her singing. She is self taught. Although she has been amazing for over 10 years, she turned 17 on January 10th, I believe early on she learned how to mimic the sounds and styles form the many great artists she listened to. Probably not fully understanding what she was doing. In a very short period of time she knew very well what she was doing and clearly developed her own unique style voice. It does not matter what genre or song, you know it’s her. She does her own arrangements and chooses the songs songs. She’s a master at improvising and rewriting lyrics to be more appropriate. Yes this is one her original songs. It does not matter what song of hers, regardless of age , that will not leave amazed. ❤❤

She's been singing since she was knee high to a grasshopper. She won Norway's got talent at the age of 7. Check " Summertime" and "Bang Bang" from the show It will blow you away.
Your perception of the music just coming out of her mouth is on point. She closes her eyes & goes to that other World she talks about. She never sings a song the same way twice because she sings it on the fly, as she feels it. There are many performances of her at home with an acoustic guitarist, mostly ages 11 (with Egil Clausen in Norway)& 12 (with Ivan Mendez in LA) where they just decide on a song to sing minutes before they perform & record it for the 1st time, while Angelina reads the lyrics. Apparently a 2nd take is only needed if the guitarist messes up since they say she never does. Her digital mentors & teachers on RUclips were primarily Billy Holiday, but Ella Fitzgerald, Louis Armstrong, Shirley Bassey, Dinah Washington, Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley, Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, Amy Winehouse, Beyoncé & Adele are all major influences. I've never seen anything like her, I'm just so happy I discovered her 5 years ago & listen to her every day.

Angelina was recorded singing on pitch to a Whitney Houston song at 18 months old. She won Norway’s Got Talent at age 8yo. The perceptive judges said, “You ARE music” and “you were born to sing”. Musicians who played with the best singers of the 20th century said two years ago Angelina is the best storyteller they ever met. She is mostly self taught from listening to the great jazz legends and many who came after them. I too believe that she has an innate sense of music and it just flows out of her. After more than 200 recordings, she has had a few minor technical issues, such as when she cracked a little while sick, I can’t say I ever found Angelina sing a note that sounded out of place. She is known for often recording a cover in one take with no rehearsal.
Hahaha, even if I think I hear a mistake she's fine anyway. Something in her style and voice is suitable to mistakes. I guess it's all the jazziness and emotion. I think I've always found mistakes relatable and charming, but almost no one cares about Angelina's. She just keeps going and you almost end up thankful for them. It makes those raw real unbelievable vocals feel better somehow. She's probably too good, maybe that's why. Helps my immersion some how. Maybe she is a rare artist we aren't looking for a 'show' from.
