As a musician, you bring a great level of appreciation for the nuances and variations Angelina plays with, her true jazz soul, and the surprising talent that makes everyone wish each song were longer. She has a studio version of another Adele song, All I Ask, that's lovely. And a version of Summertime performed at about age 11 with the KORK (Norwegian) Orchestra that's enchanting. Great reaction!

I believe the pianist is Rob Christie, 2x Grammy recipient and Studio Director for Republic Records in Los Angeles. Rob also accompanied Angelina in her 2022 performance of "Suspicious Minds."
He also accompanied on at least the studio versions of "Million Miles", "7th Heaven" and "I Have Nothing"
Both Angelina Jordan and Adele are under the Republic Records umbrella, 12 hours after Adele released "Easy On Me," this video was dropped on the internet by AJ, and Adele has seen it. Adele wrote the song with its producer, Greg Kurstin, and it is about a broken marriage and a mother trying to explain to her son why it is happening. You have to ask yourself how a 15-year-old Angelina Jordan could do this song justice and give it the emotion it deserves? Here again, AJ takes on the impossible and makes it a classic as she always does.

Angelina rarely sings unknown or little songs when she covers someone. Usually it is well-known iconic songs which provide the excellent foundation upon which Angelina can add her magic. Adele is no exception. But Angelina has done it to everyone from Whitney Houston to Queen to Frank Sinatra and on and on. You'll see if you continue down her catalog! You'll be amazed!

this one is a once in a lifetime performance, even she never sang it again in the same exact way. It's her own arrangement and she was 9 when she made it.

I believe she's only 16 in this song. It's difficult to explain what I find so special that I have listened to her every day for 8 years. No other artist has been so surprising and addictive.It's her choices for example where Adele sings in ALL I ASK, 'what if I Never love...again. Angelina sings 'what if I Never.... Love again. Its her rich lower register. Her breathy interludes. It's her unique vibrato. It's her musical sensibility that never over eggs the pudding and elegant runs that are more instrumental than sloppy showing off. It's her ability to introduce ever new aspects of her vocal techniques. Just when I thought I knew her vocal repertoire last year she opened a jazz concert with Labyrinths MOUNT EVEREST. she may be shyer and more diffident than some artists but musically she's fearless.

Your world just changed for the better. I promise. She has been through many pains as we all do in life..but, for me, this song for her reflects the pressure to succeed she experiences and has experienced from such a young age..she’s asking us to be patient and to go easy on her..I think these words have a very different meaning for AJ than for Adele.

Thank you Philip for this brilliant analysis. It's always very interesting to watch a reaction from people who know what they are talking about. I've been a hudge fan of Angelina for many years and I think she is VERY special and unique. Even if she's still very young (17 years old last January), she already has a long experience of singing (winner of NGT at 8 years old). Her roots are definitely "jazz", with Billie Holliday being one of her greatest sources of inspiration. It's not easy to recommend a performance to watch because her catalog of covers is immense (more than 170), with some originals too. To stay with Adele, her cover of "All I Ask" is interesting, as well as "Million years ago" she sang a few years earlier when she was 12 or 13 yo. You could also listen to her 1st original "Million miles" from Republic Records, the label she signed with 3 years ago. In the recent covers "Suspicious Minds" is a must IMO. In a second time, you could go back in the past with one of her first performances at NGT when she was 8 yo with summertime" for example, or her incredible interpretation of "I put a spell on you" one year later when she was 9 years old … outstanding ! Absolutely love ur enthusiasm and analysis of this performance. Angie is a true artist in every aspect, incredible in absolute terms, but particularly as she as been this way from such a young age. There are some good singers in the world, however, as u mention Angie has a unique tone and fluidity to her voice. She never shows off like so many, just the perfect style that is warranted by the song, to fully convey the emotional message. Enjoy the many suggestions posted here.

So glad you found Angelina. Your reactions add a dimension not found in those of even many voice teachers; except one who remarked, "forget about technique, maturity or tone, she has emotionality captured you."
She has a new single scheduled to release in April. Before that I suggest last year's IG release of "My Funny Valentine" and her cover of another Adele song, "A Million Years Ago", performed when she was 12.
Your reactions are delightfully engaging... It's very obvious you've contracted: "Angelina-itus"... The symptoms are clear: attention to detail, able to discern the ebb and flow of her lyrical mastery, caught holding your breath listening to HER breath control, that glazed over stare of being mesmerized, the need to hear things over indicates your officially captivated!!! 😂. The seal to the deal is she reached into your emotions with her own, magic way of becoming them.. in one phrase, "so go easy on me"... demonstrates hurt, angst, vulnerability by just simply and softly singing those 5 words... Angelina defies labels, yet she defines them.. she's a Genius... Too big a talent, too GIFTED with a controlled voice, too creative in how she uses the vocal ornaments at her whim. She's only guilty of singing each song, mindful of the original, but plays with timing, breathes new life into an original, sings with TOTAL ABANDON... dives into the music and unabatedly sings HER way, confidently. I loved your professional reaction, there are so many jewels in her crown, 190 videos to be more accurate , one of my favourites is the studio version of her self penned tribute to her late grandfather " Million Miles " followed, by the 2022 live version of the same track, then the video version and then the art based version, I guess you are getting what I saying,.... it is a must!

So interesting to listen to your reaction/analysis. The crazy thing about this song is that within hours after Adele had released her song, Angelina did a tiktok version of it (almost as good as the original). This studio version was made a week after the Adele release, and I think it was better and richer than the original album version. Later Adele has done some very good live versions where she (like Angelina) uses a much richer voice than the album version.
I, like many of Angelina fans enjoy hearing professionals such as yourself see, hear and feel her sing at a technical level what we see, hear and feel at a listeners level and know to be very special. I've subscribed just to watch your amazement and to hear the most amazing singer I've heard in my sixty eight years of listening to all kinds of music. Be prepared, Angelina was very prolific.

Hi Philip 👋. Really great reaction to 15 Angelina. We really loved your analysis of Angie. The nerdier the better. Thank you. She was already like this when she was even younger. Try her version of "Bohemian Rhapsody" on AGT-C, where even Queen was blown away and posted it and gave her the rights to her version and their blessing to record it. She was on 13 at the time of the prerecorded show for the 2020 season. (Recorded in 4th quarter of 2019) Also you'll want to react to her version of "I put a spell on you" by Screaming Jay Hawkins, the black and white video. Angie was only 9 when filmed and she did the arrangement herself. You could teach a master vocal class from it. It might even be in the hall of fame one day. Thanks for another great reaction to, analysis & appreciation of another masterful performance by Angelina - this time of an Adele hit song. While both Adele & Angelina have beautiful voices, what differentiates Angelina is her GOD given gift of being able to emote the essence of each song she sings directly to our hearts & souls allowing us to also deeply FEEL her music as it flows through her. I still recommend going back to check out her musical roots - especially her NGT audition singing Gloomy Sunday (age 7) & her mind blowing black & white performance of I Put A Spell On You (which she also arranged - at age 9). It's easy to understand when a top Stargate exec said that he knew of only three
singers who could produce a 'production ready' song in 'one take', since Angelina
produced this mere days after hearing Adele's rendition. Her 'vocal chameleon'
ability allows her to emulate Adele's vocals perfectly whenever she decides to inject
them, but then she gives us the 'breathy', 'whisper-like' responses she learned from
Billie Holiday, as well as the 'slurring' of line ending words that Amy Winehouse was
famous for. Add in Angelina's own personal style and you hear what sounds like four
superstar singers in one song. Have never heard another singer do something this
intricately complex in a song. Vocal expert analyzer has a video called 'Is This Better
Than Adele?' He breaks down both artists singing each section of the song and in
addition to his mentioning that that Angelina applies more emotion laden penetration
than Adele, which I believe is due to the fact that as great as Adele is, she is a non-jazz
singer, whereas Angelina is 'rooted' in the genre. There is no way a non jazz singer can
sing heartfelt ballads as 'deeply' as a true jazz artist like Angelina. Grussl also points
out where Angelina actually 'out belts' Adele in the power section of the song. This is
beyond unbelievable, especially when you realize most experts say her lungs won't be
fully developed until she reaches her mid 20's. This girl simply boggles the mind.
