As the owner of an 82 feet (25 meter) riveted steel vessel my recommendation would have been to run as fast and as far away from that barge as you can. Now that you've already bought it, congratulation to your own piece of history. Welding riveted steel can be a challenge sometimes and I'm interested in upcoming videos. A minimum steel thickness of 4mm is recommended. Good luck!
Lot of people complaining here, but I recognize this. You are young, full of energy. When you see a awesome opportunity you have to strike. You have a good eye and knowledge and you can always sell a project.
A person that controls one ship, is called a captain. But a person, who controls more than one ship, is called a Commodore (or Admiral) Just saying... 😜
I have four Austin Healey Sprite Mk1 and 1 MG Midget. And two 1997 Camaros. And a few other cars. And a storage locker full of parts. there are many of us in this situation.
I have a similar addiction, including 3 auston healy sprites , about 8 other vehicles, 9 sailboats, 3 power boats, 2 airplanes. Fortunately I have a lit of land
I just loved the fact you saw this medal boat as a floating piece of history which still has potential to be useful and very functional. Look forward to more episodes as you add to and work on your fleet. You and your friends are just full on ingenuity which this world needs more off.
OMG another barge!!!, you got a nice big boat, which is not finished yet, and what a work to switch the outboard motor, why didn’t,t you tow and push that new barge with your other boats, and please continue the work on your first big boat, I miss the work on that small pleasurecraft
My thoughts exactly, the yacht tied to the side or towing from the front and the little boat to use as a helper push barge would have worked better, faster and without killing yourselves with having to build and move the outboard.
You are a brave, and confident sailor! The bilge reminded me of my days of working on a WW II landing craft in Key West. In fact, many things you do, and have remind me of my Navy days. Congratulations on acquiring the barracks barge. It was fun watching you attach the motor, then transiting up the river at night. I look forward to the next episode!
Keep doing what you are doing👍👍. The wonderful work you have done so far is inspiring. There is no such thing as to many boats. They spark creativity and adventure in life. Please keep sharing your thoughts and stories.
5mm on the baseplate?! We might be being over-cautious but on the narrowboats in the UK (mine is 55 by 7ft- 16m by 1.8) our baseplates are around 10mm and you'd spot weld pits deeper than a couple millimetres and even overplating if excessively pitted or deeper! Anyway, hope to see you enjoy whatever you make of the new vessel!
That JVC VHS Unit is one half of the unit. Brought back so many memories. We had the identical AKAI unit (same machine rebadged) in 1982 and that unit had an optional leather shoulder case you slipped it into, and the port on the lower right is a Video Camera Hook up you screwed into it, and it was "Portable" Video system for 1982 standards. it has a rechargeable battery in the side. We "lugged" that thing all over Hong Kong where we lived in 1982/83, and then all over Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, and then back home in Australia. There is a second unit (a TV Tuner unit) which you hook that VHS part up to to complete the home setup. The VHS part recorded and played the tape. The tuner part allowed you to connect to the tv and change channels to watch / record. Had a cabled remote that was about 10 meters long. Lasted over 10 years in our home as the primary VHS unit we used.
at the beginning of your channel, people would always criticize or put down things you did but you have a mind like a sponge. you learned from others and through trial and error. now the comment section is practically criticism free. good job man
I grew up on one much like it and though my dad built a new top-frame from (mostly found at garbage) wood, my room was in the hull, which was cool in summer due to the water, but terribly cold in winter when the cold water pretty much froze the metal.
Yeah that boat will be awesome for you ,plenty of room that’s for sure .please do this one up until it’s finished and upload how your progress is going.😊
Congratulations for your new boats . Trust me you are not alone in buying boats , I'm doing the same thing here in egypt 😂 . I think I have bigger problem I'm between nile River and red sea 🎉
Very nice purchase. If it will sit for a longer period of time, put up many solar panels to power the other collection of boats, and tell you friends it's a Hydro-Station. Hydro being Greek for water, and it's stationary for now. Interior looks promising. And you're right, it looks small beside the other barge.
Looks like you have a bit of a re-plating job. Followed by a PROPER steel coating system. Then you can let loose, with the interior rebuild. Avidly anticipated.
Love your channel I have bin with you since the beginning ❤️❤️❤️ Thanks for sharing these great adventures with us. I would love to have this opportunity like you have there in Berlin. I would be doing exactly what you are doing 👍
Some think that I am a bit silly too. I have a 28 ft cruising yacht, a 28 fy racing yacht, a 12 ft aluminium "tinnie" and a 6 ft tender for the rafted yachts. We're all just trying to do our best in our own ways. Not all of us can have a perfect 50 ft Beneteau.
I would make a snide comment here, but I own 23 pre-1990 dirt bikes, over half in various stages of restoration. With that in mind, good luck with your addiction man!
Did I miss something in the account of the movement? As I understood you arrived with a motor boat. You purchased a non motor boat with a large operating rudder. Why not tow it canal fashion? You have as we say in Britain, a boat and butty.
Dude, if you either alone, or by investment (and outsourcing) finish ANY boatproject you have, You can start to rent the boat and use the money for finishing another projects and buying new boats. The house-boat is the best one, because you can rent it as a place for living, somewhere with reasonable mooring prices and extreme housing and rent prices. Many of such places in Germany around Hamburg... Or Berlin even... Sugesting you to start a company, if so, you can buy the spareparts, colours, materials and services (possibly) witouth wat tax (i.e. cheaper than now probably).
when I was younger I was always finding new projects that had incredible prices.... I finally had to change my ways because they were so piled up. I stopped buying new projects and started completing current projects. I've only done 4 smaller boats less than 25 ft. latest is a 40 foot motorhome and after 6 years it is nearing completion. took me 3 years to build my steel house and it is finished too. So many projects, so little time...
I want to see the first boat completed. I’ve lost patience; I don’t want to half a dozen work in progress projects. Complete my first boat, that’s the one I was interested in and spent a lot of time following.
My first instinct would have been to tow the barge, while making good use of that huge rudder. No offense, but you might say--as intended. Here from day one. Love your channel.
I make that 8 or 9 boats you've bought over the last few years! Give it another 4 or 5 years, and I'm fully expecting you to be running some sort of floating hotel, or casino, or something! 😃
Wow! What a great big space inside. A steel roof is much better than a wooden one. Exciting trip back under bridge, well done. Thanks for sharing, I enjoy your videos best of all on RUclips.
Man you sure do need help ! But friggin good on you if its a passion ! I have a similar issue with motorcycles...... Anyway what an awesome adventure getting her home ! Very professional !!! 😉🙃😎 NZ
You keep buying boats and barges you can rename your channel "my first floating Island!" I was stationed in Berlin in the early eighties. My favorite city in the world. If I wasn't getting so old I wouldn't mind living there again on a boat or in England on a narrowboat. Enjoy your channel and enjoy your exploits.
I was waiting to hear that you bought the original Wappen von Hamburg, now known as M/V Aurora, in California. She was abandoned by her owner and sank a bit, settling in the mud. The Coast Guard refloated her, but she’s going to be scrapped soon, sadly.
I’ve abandoned any hope of seeing a completed project on this channel
haha
👍👌👏 Same here, definitely!
Best regards, luck and health in particular.

A person that controls one ship, is called a captain.
But a person, who controls more than one ship, is called a Commodore (or Admiral)
Just saying... 😜
Well, in this case the boats controls him....
With that many boats, I think he is a Fleet Admiral.
❤❤❤❤❤
In this case he’s a hoarder
In this case he controls nothing, he's no captain. He never sailed an ocean. He's making a floating dwelling
I love your videos but God please finish one project so I can admire the completed boat!!
I’ve been with you from the first video, and your story telling gets better each year 😊
Carry on Captain 👍🏼
You have saved me a fortune in buying boats. I just live vicariously alongside your purchases and graft fixing them up. Thanks.
Keep Buying and fixing boats, this is the 2 reasons we keep enjoying your channel. Cheers from Greece.

Turn it into a guesthouse/yard. Use the low roof as a floating yard and grow vegetation on it

What a fantastic find and purchase!

The "My N = N+1 Boat" channel. Just lovely, this just makes it more interesting. Would love a video on how summer techno parties pass on such a setup.

You could maybe rename your channel to "My First 100 Boats" 😂
Why do all that work fitting an outboard when you have a working 'tow' boat tied to the 'new' boat?
The outboard is only 60hp, and it's a heavy boat. I'm sure both motorboats were being used as tugs.
Congratulations buddy! You’ve been promoted from Captain to Fleet Commander, nice work!
I've used a rust converter followed by an epoxy paint with great success. You might try that in the bilge. The rust converter was by Eastwood.
