As an Air Force maintenance man in the 70’s, the F4 was the first fighter I was trained for. Old tech, but still an awesome workhorse that did everything.
I was aboard the USS Ticonderoga CVA-14, off the coast of North Vietnam in 1969. I loved to stand up on Vultures Row and watch these things take off and land after their mission. We had a ringside seat to the drama of fast-paced flight deck operations in a combat zone.
Oh boy was that a treat. You picked a perfect day to fly, clouds in the back ground, sun glistening off the wings and fuselage, roar of those turbines brought back some awesome memories. Now if you can burn it a little richer to make the jet fuel smoke...man that would be the icing on the cake Thanks for building this beauty and sharing it with all of us viewers.
Always loved the F4 - it became an icon in 'Nam and despite its few combat negatives was still a superb aircraft. The anhedral stabilizer is instantly recognizable, along with dihedral wing tips.. This is a superb model - excellent and exciting flight - a joy to watch. Very nice slow roll and low passes etc - perfect landing (both!). Only thing missing - two smoke trails! :)
That was my primary "gripe" with this, and almost _every_ F4 model. The telltale black smoke when the pilot would "step on the gas". I wish more modelers would add a smoke tank for that effect!
Gorgeous aircraft and spectacular flying characteristics as.well as superior piloting skills!! Congrats on your first and second flights. You have reasons to be PROUD!!

What was the issue with the turbines in the start of the video? Can you save the plane on just one tubine, if one of them stop in the air, or will it be difficult to fly and too less power?
After the 1st. landing, they couldn't find any issue. Since the power to weight ratio, it is able to fly safely but unable to perform a show flight. Weight: 21.8 kg / 48 pounds (dry) / Turbine: 2x JetCat P130 RX *_thank you for your kind comment_*

@@RCScaleAirplanes I worked F-4's in the Navy and then later for the Air Force as a civilian. I was an Egress-man, AME. Among a few other more robust do-dads. I've worked on several fighters. None came close to being as difficult to work on as the F-4. I had several modified, one job tools in my tool box and many of my sockets had a beveled edge on the hex side. Most had plumbers putty stuffed in them to hold nuts as I'd put on 2 long extensions an install that bugger way back in a deep dark, nasty, dirty hole. @@x-man5056 _Thank you very much for the explanation. It seems you've had a hard time working on the F-4_ Also some Rc airplanes can be horrible to work on. It always depends on how complicated they are. The bigger they are, the easier to reach the components inside. Most of the jets has a service door on the upper part of the fuselage, which allowes you to change the batteries and to read the parameters on the ECU of the turbine during the startup. Once the turbine runs, the door can be closed and the plane is ready for takeoff. You can see it at another of my videos >>> ruclips.net/video/jrIe08ZqyY8/видео.html *_Cheers, RCSA_*
Fantastic!! The only thing that doesn't look scale are the main gear tires, they look too thin, other than that, everything else looks awesome! Very well done.
It says there was a turbine problem before the first landing. How did the pilot know? Did he have remote instruments? The first landing was so smooth, bravo!
Yes. He recognised a lost of power while climbing. That was the reason why he came in to check. As you can see, he was wondering that both turbines were running good after landing. Safety first !!! 😉👍
Awesome plane. Landing gear extension speed is too fast in "4:47" I think. It may be dangerous during flight under certain conditions. It'd be better to delay the retraction/extension of landing gear and make it a little bit slower.
