- Here are the Top 7 Features of the Google Home Mini from a mama's perspective! The Google Home Mini is a great hands-free tool with SO many features - here are my favorites :)

Awesome! I love my Google Home Mini but I really like the display on the Echo Show.
Thanks Danny Winget ! Yeah the large screen is nice and sleek looking on the Echo Show, but the Google Home Mini is way more budget-friendly :) For me at least!

It can actually turn your TV on if you plug in a separate micro-USB power source to the Chromecast rather than powering it from your TV's USB port (which turns off when the TV is off, so the Chromecast is dead). :) You also have to enable CEC in your TV (this is disabled by default on my two Vizio TVs, anyway).
Thanks Douglas! So our Chromecast is plugged into the TVs HDMI port, then power is from the wall outlet. I think the issue is our TV is a bit old and doesn't give us the option to change the HDMI settings :(

how long will it play music for... Id like it to play non stop for night time sleeping.. at least 7 hrs. will it do that?
Great question sdancer516! I haven't tested the length for longer than an hour or so - but my guess it will keep going until we ask it to stop. Have you tried it yet?? If not, maybe I can test it!

Nice review. But it is probably worth mentioning that it isn't actually connected to your phone. It is connected to your Google account which has your phonebook and number (by default on android). So you would be able to make a call even if your phone is turned off.

The trouble I'm having is, people I CALL can't hear me at first, then, they say I'm echoing, muffled and GARBLED! My mini was on my nightstand, now I mounted on wall above my bed. Any remedies??

I found that if I need tv to turn on I ask Google to turn on Chromcast. The tv turns on for me. 😊
I got so excited to go home and try this Robert when I saw your comment cuz I didn't even try that! But still doesn't work for me for some reason :( I think honestly it has something to do with my tv being as old as it is.. Thanks for the tip though! It might help others :)

Yes, thanks for getting back. The old one did not work. The new chromecast works and I can turn off the TV from google home.

Chromecast can turn the tv on so I think it might actually turn it on if you request it to play soething

Mama's Reviews really that’s so weird because I just got the google home and it turns my tv in but I won’t turn it off, it just stops casting when I ask it. I guess it just depends on the tv.

If you have multiple Google homes in your home, you can broadcast a msg to all of them by saying "Hey, Google, broadcast *the msg*"
Yeah Bruno! We just got another too so we could do that. Actually, even when you're away from the Google Home Mini, you can broadcast! My husband will often broadcast that he's on the way home, or other funny messages lol
I do that too, and when I am driving home and I want to scare my wife I start playing music on the speakers hahahaha
Is your chromecast using your TV as a power source? If the TV's off, then there will be no power on the chromecast.
Try to use a USB charger for your chromecast, then plug it in your power bar or wall outlet.
Depending on your TV model, you might be able to turn on the TV by saying "hey google, turn on the tv" now
Hmm.. the Chromecast is plugged into the TV's HDMI port then the other end is in the power outlet. I think if I have a smart plug, then the Google assistant could control it from there.

Does it have to do with WiFi internet speed??
Hi Phil! Does what have to do with it? If you mean, does the Wifi speed affect the usage or capabilities - I would say not really. Because it's not loading any pages, videos, etc. However, if your connection is spotty and you're streaming music or some other audio, my guess is that it's possible but not likely. Hopefully that somewhat helped! I'm not sure if I totally understood your question though..
Mama's Reviews people i call say they Can not hear me, then say I sound muffled and garbled. Thought maybe had to do with a bad WiFi signal?

jamicwe55 Please help if you can! So I already have the Chromecast connected to the power outlet then the HDMI to the TV. I watched a few other videos and it looks like I need to change the HDMI settings on my TV, but don't see the option.. I'm thinking I just have an older TV.

my tv turns on and off with commands. you just need a cec from the tv. they usually have it on smart tvs

Can the google home make a phone call through WhatsApp?
Hey bc azur! We tried with my husband's phone (cuz I don't have WhatsApp) but it doesn't work. However, you can send messages! Just say "OK Google, send a WhatsApp message to (name)” and then dictate the message. It will automatically be sent.

Top ONE lame Feature - WARNING if you're thinking of buying a Google Home or Home Mini ... YOU CAN'T CONNECT IT VIA BLUETOOTH to an external BT Speaker like you can EASILY with ANY Amazon Echo or Echo Dot! And the Home Mini has NO SPEAKER OUT jack to physically connect to an external wired speaker either (which the Echo's ALL HAVE!) I have 2 Echo Dots and 1 Google Home Mini and this is a deal breaker! To connect to an external speaker with the Home or Mini you have to ... guess what ... BUY a Google Chrome Speaker, what a shock! Google = Greedy.
Totally respect your input lilrascalrc! For us though, the speaker is plenty loud for the space we have. :)
