Thanks Brett for your great channel and advice, I'm a Google home mini newbie. The music alarm feature does work outside the US. This is what you need to do: 1. Set phone and the Home app to US English. 2. Hey presto 3. You will also get a choice of a male voice, by doing this. It wasn't available until I changed to US English.
At first I watched a couple videos and they would set off my Google Assistant on my phone and/or my home mini and I thought it was funny but after a while it got annoying so thanks for muting the "Hey/Ok Google" command. 👍🏼

+Joe Klamut I picked up an Echo and a Dot. I want to start doing videos of them but little time. Google definitely has a place in my heart 😃. The first thing I did with the Echo was Bluetooth it to my Google Home and it become incredibly more useful. I really like Google Assistant's voice much better and Google is adding tons of features fast. I can see the appeal of the Alexa and it has a few things that Google is missing but it is fun to see both sides of the story. Hopefully I will have some videos up on my thoughts some day.

Ok I couldn’t get media alarms to work on my home hub so I made a custom routine on the Home app, to play ‘wake up boo’ on spotify at 9.00am and play through the hub speaker (then set which days you want)- your welcome ✌️

I just came here to say I appreciate that you mute the "Hey Google" In your video! I love how you walk through all the steps in your videos, it has been super helpful in getting to learn my Google Homes and Minis :)
The problem with the music alarm is that,sometimes, at least with Spotify, it plays the radio station of the song that you tell it, instead of just the song. It does play the song, first, but it will play the wrong version of some songs. It plays the wrong version (Re-Recorded version) of "Dream Warriors", by Dokken. When I tell it to play"2 Minutes To Midnight" it tells me that it will play the live beach arena version, but actually plays the studio album version, but I didn't know that, at first. It's still irritating, because you have to test it. I don't know how it works with other music streaming services, for playing songs for alarms, though. This is something that could be helped, if a lot of people send feedback about it.

I can do music/media alarms with my mini, but my new Nest Hub Max will only let me set general alarms, no music or media. "I can't do that on this device yet.", is the message I get. Something I'm not doing, or limitation of Max? Thanks for video, btw, very useful.

It's very frustrating watching these videos when it isn't available in UK. I don't understand why these updates are region blocked? E.g calling, cooking and now this
Looks like you can only set a specific song if you are a google play subscriber. Seems like the google home is another way for google to upsell its users for additional services
Is it possible to have it play ocean sounds for an alarm? I've found tracks on spotify, but then google says it can only play songs or radio for alarms.
Do you have spotify linked to your assistant? Also it needs to be set as your default music source. Save a playlist as ocean sounds with the track or tracks you want to listen to and tell it to play the ocean sounds playlist. I believe a spotify premium account is required but I'm not sure.
Currently this feature is USA only (sorry world). What will you be waking up to?

It does not work on my Insignia smart speaker, all it does is set a Alarm Called Music or Media.
Might only work with Google branded devices.
